Bought this cab over five years ago as an addition to my Avatar compact 115H (no longer available). I've used it regularly in a classic blues/rock band. Preamp is a Tech21 RBI with QSC PLX1802 power with 500 watts per channel into both 4 ohm cabs. The B210 features are right on the money with sturdy, black "carpet" construction, heavy plastic, fitted (no slip) corners, recessed handles and cable outputs. The speakers are protected by heavy, black metal mesh. They are Dave's original design with Eminence Delta 10's rated at 350 watts and a Foster horn tweeter. I can think of no other features I'd want. It fits my needs perfectly when I used it as a single, stand alone 210 or in combo with my Avatar 115H compact cab.
The BEST FEATURE IS THE PRICE. It can't be touched by anything on the market today.

Sound Quality : 10
I use two basses: an original 1969 Fender Jazz and a 1978 Fender Jazz and have gigged with my Avatars playing blues, jazz, rock, country and rockabilly. The single 210 cab is plenty loud enough for small clubs with great high's and mid's and enough bottom to suit my needs. I was fortunate to have the world class bassist, Trip Wamsley, help me set up my rig by having his Glockenklang and Alembic sit by side with my Tech21/Avatar rig and my '69 Jazz with TI flats.
It was hard even for me to believe, but after a bit of adjusting my Tech21 RBI and the Avatars' tweeter volume controls we got my rig in the same ballpark as Trip's tone-to-die-for super rig. That was nearly three years ago, and I still use the same settings. The Avatars are just dialed in like Flynn.

I had something go wrong with the input on myB210 shortly after I purchased it in 2003, but it was quickly and easily repaired. These Avatars have proven to be road warriors and have held up remarkably well. One of the 10's cratered just this week over five years after purchase), but that can happen with any speaker in any cab. I have a replacement speaker on the way as I type this. I would not hesitate to buy Avatar again.

Customer Support : 10
I've NEVER experienced better customer support. Dave, the owner, usually answers the phone personally, is extremely helpful, and never hesitates to make things right. As mentioned above I had an input issue soon after I purchased the B210. He quickly sent a replacement at no charge. Over three years later and way out of warranty I had one of the 10's quit working. I called him from the gig, and again he answered personally. He offered me a great price on an upgraded replacement speaker. No hassles, no hesitation, no head games, NO PROBLEMS. Best customer support in the business!

I've been playing bass professionally for nearly 40 years and have owned everything from a '59 Bassman to an Acoustic 360 to custom built rigs. DO NOT waste your money to buy an emblem or logo. My Avatars are the best cabs for the money I've ever owned. FOR THE PRICE I can't find a better built or better sounding cab. I would buy again in a heartbeat.

2 - 10" Eminence Neodymium speakers with Foster horn

Sound Quality : 10
This is an extremely portable and awesome sounding full range speaker. I use a Nemesis (by Eden) 320 w head and this is plenty loud and provides tons of head room. It is punchy, has great bass response for a 210 and has tons of clarity. With a few tweeks on the knobs on my amp and G&L Bass, I can get every rock, blues, and funk sound that I need.

Seriously. This cab performs in the category of a $500 - $600 cab that you can get a GC. It blows away anything in its price range of $320.

I tried the Mark Bass 210 at GC for $700 before deciding to buy one of these direct. The MarkBass is a great cab, but this one compares and can keep up. Compare stats for yourself between this cab and the Markbass , then ask why you would spend another $400 for the Name.

If you were going to by a cheapo cabinet lets say from Behringer, then spend a little more and get this cab. If you were going to buy an Eden, Markbass, etc for $600-$700, then save you money and buy this one and have money left over for another Bass, Cab, Effects, whatever.

Late 2005 model with 2 Eminence Delta 10's good for 350 watts each so what I have is a 700 watt cab. One Foster horn tweeter. A real crossover with tweeter level control. Two 1/4 inch jacks, one Speakon jack. I could use 2 Speakons. Very loud powerful small cab. But sort of heavy. I have a larger Avatar Neo 15 cab and it is acutally lighter and easier to move. I think it weighs 60 plus pounds. It is also front heavy, so when you carry it the front of the cab wants to dip down and twist your wrists so it is best to move it with two people. Very solid construction with a recessed back. This model is discontinued and they have gone to lower power capable NEO speakers. The new Neo version is rated at 100 watts less but weights less too and is probably better balanced when carryign it. You could pick a 4 or 8 ohm cab and I got the 8 to stack it with another 8 ohm cab to get 4 ohms for my Ampeg that only does 4 ohms. At the time I bought it in late 2005 the only option was the standard carpet covering but now you can buy Avatar cabs in a rainbow of Tolex coverings or the new LINE-X heavy duty sprayed on coating. The front grill is sturdy metal, the corners are plastic locking corners for stacking. The handles are solid and easily gripped with no moving parts to bend or wear out. Very basic features, but more features than some that cost less. The tweeter level control is smooth and seems pretty linear. For the money you will not find a better made more solid cab. There are cheaper cabs but these genuinely outperform cabs costing much more. I wouldn't

Sound Quality : 10
I use this cab for rehearsals driven with an old 100 watt Peavey Century 200 amp from about 1976. Plenty of volume to hear it over the drummer and he's very agressive. I use it at gigs stacked on an Avatar B115-Neo cab and push them both with a 450 watt Ampeg B2RE head. I also use an Aphex Bass Xciter pedal with the big bottom cranked to about 7 on the pedal. WOW what tone! Sounds better than any of my other set ups ever did. Alone the 2x10's sound OK for rehearsal, but when I add the 1X15 cab I get an incredible snap, pop and a black thunder sound on command. Piano like tones galore. Beats the Fender, Peavey and Ampeg rigs I've used before and they all cost more and were heavier to move.

I've used a Fender USA Jazz which sounded quite modern, but I'm a P-Bass man first and this set up is the best I've ever had for a P-Bass. Both my '53 single coil P-Bass and my brand new Mexi P-Bass sound very lush. I have an active Ibanex SRX-700 and when I boost the high end eq on it I get the most amazing sounds out of these Avatars. WOW. Sometimes a bass player from another band does our sound and he's JEALOUS of how my rig sounds. So, I get a very versatile sounds, smooth lush old school and modern brash with lots of punchy high end when I need it. I give it a 10 for sounds AWESOME. For a 10 inch cab with 2 tens I don't think you'll get a better sound. They ain't pretty, but they are utilitarian and the front porting makes them efficient as heck. Having started out when 15's were the normal size for bass speakers, I'm really not happy at a gig without the thumpy 15 inch tones so I wouldn't play with this alone except for rehearsal, but as far as 2x10 cabs go you can spend more and get less!

Reliability : 10
Mine is out of warranty (1 year) and still popping along nicely. Sturdy construction. Would probably survive a fall off a truck physically, but I've heard the crossovers in these might be fragile, however so far no problems for me! Perfectly functional and still looks pretty much like new.

Customer Support : 10
I've called AvatarSpeakers.Com to order twice, Dave Noss the owner answered both times. My order was shipped fast and arrived way before I expected. Even though my right is out of warranty now, I would expect Mr. Noss to ship whatever parts I needed quickly at a reasonable price if he had them in stock. He just sounds like that kind of guy. I suspect he is a musician too. He seems to love what he does. He sure has a great product. It would be nice if they offered covers to fit their cabs on their site, but few cab makers do that anyway. At least they don't try to sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need!

Overall Rating : 10
If there is a better made 2x10 bass cab that handles 700 watts, I don't know what cab that would be. It isn't an Ampeg, Fender or Peavey. Lots of people NEED a big nameplate behind them. They are so brand snobbish. This cab isn't for them. This is for players who only care about sound and getting mileage for the dollar. My two Avatar cabs separately were a good value and sound great, together they are unbeatable as far as I'm concerned! When it is time to buy more speakers, maybe a 4X10 cab I'll buy another one from Avatar.Com

absolutely no probems. when i first got the cabinet my wife ordered it direct from avatar for my b-day. she knew what i wanted . when i got it out of the box the tolex had a big gash in the top. i looked over the box but could not find any damage. i called dave at avatar told him the problem. he told me he would give me a discount or send out a new one no charge i said i would take a discount, but after i got off the phone i looked closer at the box and noticed a cut in the box. not easy to see. i called dave back and told him that the damage was from fedex and that i would take care of and dont worry about the dicount. but dave being the great guy he is wanted to give it to me anyway. i'm not saying this so others can claim they got damaged product and get a discount, i am saying this because by only buying from him once he totally went out of the way to make sure his customer was taken care of. and if you not sure about some thing you are considering getting from avatar. be not afraid dave will make sure you are happy with his products. and his cabinets are the best. any cabs i buy in the future will be avatars. thanks dave

I bought the cabinet brand new direct in the end of 2005. I Like the simplicity of the cabinet, it does not have much on the rear pannel, but it's got the speakon connectors, the Foster horn, the Eminence Delta 10s, compactness, light weight and it can hangle the power that I need

Sound Quality : 8
I found the cabinet to be rather bright overall. It took me a while to get a tone from my bass that I really liked. Like everyone else says on here, it's not deep sounding, but it is still only a 210. The midrange and highs just scream out of this thing, very efficient and projects well. I wish that it did have a little more bottom end than it does have, that's why it only got an 8 from me.

Reliability : 10
Super reliable. Light weight, very solid construction, stronger steel grille than a lot of other cabs I looked into also, and 700w power handling. Every gig it has done exactly what it was designed to and nothing less. With a 250w amp, I can not distort the speakers.

Customer Support : 10
One of the drivers was cracking a little in the voice coil when it came in, Dave sent out a new Delta 10 and I was happily on my way to the gigs! Could not ask for better communication and reliability in a company. I know from personal experience that the bigger brand names do not treat you this way.

Overall Rating : 10
I was very happy with the cab from the start. Though it was very bright in sound, I finally tweaked out my preamp to get a good tone. for $229 new with the reliability and customer satisfaction of Avatar, good luck finding a better 210.

There are a ton of reviews here so I'm not going to be redundant and repeat the same information as everyone else. I'll just say that almost all the reviews are accurate.

Sound Quality : 10
I play with a G&L Climax and a YBA200 head. I also have an Avatar 1X15 paired up with the 2X10. I use round-wound steel strings and I like a punchy mid growl. I play primarily indie rock (a la Pixies, Superchunk, etc.).

The sound on this cab is amazing. You could get better but then you'd be spending about four times as much money. The Eden 2x10 is also a pretty amazing sounding cab but I would say the Avatar is just as good if not better.

Reliability : 10
Never had any trouble but I also take care of my gear. Judging from the construction, I'd say it's well built.

Customer Support : 10
Dave and everyone else at Avatar is very helpful and they respond quickly to e-mails. Basically, I just decided to chime in to say that everything everyone has said in these reviews is absolutely true: great sounding cabinets, great customer service, great value, blah blah blah ... beleive the hype.

Overall Rating : 10
I've played through Ampeg cabinets, Fender cabinets (boy was that a mistake), Acoustic, and I tried a couple of Eden cabs. The only thing that could really blow away the Avatar was an AccuGroove I had the great luxury of trying out (but at $1500 for a 2X10 it was way out of my budget). If you need a well-built cab, made by nice people, that sounds like your bass is supposed to sound then you cannot do better than the Avatar.

Simple, effective. Has a tweeter level control on the back of the cab. Front slot ported. Mine is 8 ohms because I wanted to stack it with my B112 for a 4 ohm total imp small stack. They do sound very good together.
Nice that Avatar gives you the choice of 4 or 8 ohm cabs, most manufacturers don't do this. This concept makes it a 10!
Excellent carry handles, well placed.

Sound Quality : 10
I play 4,5,6 string or fretless. Mostly Jazz but some of it is pretty kick ass jazz (heavy). The tweeter adjustment knob is nice for different rooms. I think hard Rock players will be very pleased with this cab as well. But then it's clear enough to play any kind of music.

Reliability : 10
Really well made cab, excellent materials. Tough to beat.

Customer Support : 10
Dave is the best. Superior.

Overall Rating : 10
I got the wheels for it (good move)and put them on because even though this is not a really big cab it makes it easyer to move.
I play Fender, Yamaha, and Carvin Basses and I'm sure this cab would sound excellent with any type of pickup or bass, nuteral sound is good for me. I don't like a cab which colors my sound at all and this sounds like the instrument should. I am very critical and don't give great great reviews offten. My dream cab is this BUT at a under 20lbs weight, I know this isn't made yet but someday . . ..
If there was any way to make it lighter that would be a plus.

The other day I bought a used Yamaha TRB6P. Before I paid for it, I tried many amps and cabs in the store and only the Aguilar with an Aguiar B12 sounded neutral. I wanted to know how it would really sound so I went home and tried it in my Avatar 210 mated to an Ashdown MAg 250. Yes the Avatar 210/ Ashdown combo was neutral and as good as the Aguilar setup. I was surprised because I was thinking to upgrade to an SWR or Dave Eden. All I need is an SWR or Ampeg head that can go 2 ohms and I'd get another Avatar 12 or 210 for louder gigs

Reliability : No Opinion
Dependable.

Great company.

I'd buy Aguilar again. I'd choose it over an SWR, Eden, Fender or HArtke. Only exception will be the Acme and Aguilar and I think it is almost in par with the Aguilar in the 2 10 department.

One could say it has a sparse back pannel, but I never daisy chain (a second cabinet if used is plugged directly into the amp), so no biggy really. It has what it needs to do the job.

Sound Quality : 10
I am in a classic rock band. This cabinet was purchased to replace a very very heavy Mesa Boogie 2x10 (with 300 watt EV speakers). I used this cab primarily as a top cabinet with a (dare I say) Peavy 4x10 bottom (which actually does a really good job on the low end, but has almost no mids).

The Mesa (which I will sell) did a nice job on the highs and mids, but had a hard time reproducing the low end. It gave a fluttering sound when handling the low E. In comparison, no flutter at all from the Avatar. All of this with a huge weight savings.

Reliability : 10
The cabinet is built solidly, the drivers are from reputable companies. I have absolutey no concern in this area.

AVATAR AND NAMELY DAVE ARE OFF THE SCALE WITH AN 11! Dave is "really" great to deal with. Call him and he will be glad to speak with you; He is that nice! I am sure his personality and attitude have much to do with Avatar's popularity and success in the marketplace.

For amplification, I use a GK 1001, which I believe is is an excellent rig, with tons of reserve power. I don't believe I have ever run this above 1:00 on the dial (usually around 11:30). I just tweak my EQ settings as needed, usually very close to flat at all times.

Because this amp has a crossover and separate 50W amp and output for the tweeter, I will eventually get into my cabinet and (bypass that little tweeter knob that everyone has to mention and I will) install a jack for direct connection the tweeter. For now, and like many others, I find that 9:00 is a good setting for the Avatar tweeter.

For basses, I have a sweet Rick 4001, Warwick Thumb Bolt on, a Custom Warwick FNA Fretless, Fender Jazz.

Next, I will definately be ordering the Avatar 2x12 for my bottom cabinet and will lighten my load for some of those smaller gigs.

This cabinet was purchased from a pawn shop in 2004. I was looking for a 4 ohm, 2x10 cab to go with my Peavey Combo 115 to add more mids and highs. I play a large of mix of classic through new rock with my band so I needed more tone capabilities. The cab was either new or very lightly used because the plastic corners looked brand new and the felt covering was almost perfectly clean. It even smelled new. Not a bad find for a pawn shop.

The features are practical. It has two 10" Eminence drivers, a tweeter, and two 1/4" jacks in the back for an input and daisy-chaining, and a Speakon connector. It also has a tweeter adjustment knob. Each speaker handles serious wattage (350 each for a total of 700). It's also made in China...At first that worried me, but it didn't last long after I tried it out.

Sound Quality : 9
I am a fingerstyle player that plays in a working rock band and at church. The cab hits the nail in the head for what I need. In combination with the Peavey's 15-inch speaker, this cab really delivers on the mids and highs. You have to work the Peavey Combo 115 so it doesn't sound muddy, but when you add the Avatar B210, it sounds like they are made to compliment each other!!

The Foster tweeter on the Avatar does produce a slight hissing noise, but after moving away a few feet you can't really hear it, and not at all if you turn down the tweeter. I turn the gain on 5 and volume on 7 on the Peavey amp, and the whole rig turns into a wall of sound. Most of the tone comes out of the 2x10 cab, and it's clean and crisp. The low end stuff that drains out of the Peavey speaker makes a nice compliment. It enables my bass to play its role by both moving and driving my band's material...I don't have to settle for just either mud or only mids, I now have both.

I'd rate it a 10 if it had more bells and whistles, but it's excellent value for the money anyway.

Reliability : 9
I haven't had the cab that long, but I fully expect it to last. It's rated for 700 watts and the most I can put through it now is 300. The construction is sturdy as well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had to call Avatar, but I've heard from other posts that the customer service is really good.

If it were stolen, I'd throw my Peavey Combo 115 at the guy. But I'd buy another B210 if mine came up missing.

My B210 was purchased in 2004. Very basic with parallel 1/4" dual inputs with a Speakon Jack. Two 10" Eminence 350 watt speakers for a total of 700 watts of power handling. It comes with a Foster high frequency horn with a volume control. It weighs around 50Lbs and is covered in carpet with a wire mesh grill and stacking corners. Perfect for what it is designed for.

Sound Quality : 10
I have the B210 stacked on top of my Avatar SB112 single 12" cabinet. The sound is fantastic! I play Fender basses and the sound is punchy and very tight. I play primarily finger style through a Fatman compressor and an Aphex 204 Aural Enhancer directly into an Ampeg SVT II 300 watt tube head. Both Avatar cabinets are rated at 4 ohms. I run them in parallel with no bi-amping for a 2 ohm load. All frequencies are covered very well and my E string is super tight. There is plenty of punch and bottom end, but with detail, no mud!
If I use the B210 on its own it sounds great, but with my SVT monster head I can cause the speakers to "flap" slightly on very high volume settings (past midway), when I dig in on the open E string. However, this is to be expected. Remember this is a monster SVT head which can push two SVT-810 cabinets with ease. My favorite Fender Jazz base is also wired with its pickups very hot. Hey, we are talking about only two 10" speakers! The addition of the SB112 Avatar cabinet along with the B210 will handle extremely high volume levels. The SB112 gives me a little more bottom end too. The B210 by itself will hold its own for small to medium sized venues. The combination of both cabinets definitely takes the sound to the next level. My tone is deep and tight with a high-end snap. I basically tap the strings as I pluck them which gives the sound of second guitar following the bass. The Avatar cabinets gives me the sound I look for. It matches my style perfectly. After many years of playing I can honestly say that my Avatar setup finally has given me the sound I have always wanted. I have owned many Ampeg cabinets from a B15, SVT-4HLF, SVT-810, etc. Now I have the perfect sound at a fraction of the cost and in a small package for easy handling. The Foster horn in the B210 sounds good too, but be carefull it can get too brittle sounding if you dial in too much. I keep it at 1/4 the way up and it adds the snap I need. I play primarily R&B with a funk style. In my mind the B210 cabinet is perfect.

Reliability : 10
Built like a brick s#@t house. As good as the best high end cabinets on the market.

You deal with Dave. He is the owner and will be there to assist you.

I have been playing for more years then I would like to mention and quite honestly this is the best sounding dual 10" cabinet in my opinion regardless of cost. The price is NUTS! Where can you find another cabinet built like this that sounds so good and for so little money? Maybe Dave is a millionaire and doesn't care about money? Go Dave! One of the best parts is that the cabinet weighs so little and fits in my trunk. My back feels better already! If this cabinet was ever stolen I would be on the phone to Dave to order another one immediately. I love my Ampeg cabinets, but I need someone to carry them around for me.

Basic bass. Billy Cox, blues, Zep, ABB. Has a nice deep sound but still punchy. It's hard to believe it's 10's. I'm not sure I even need an additional 15 like I was planning on adding. i have had this cab for about 7 months. it is the 4ohm version so i can pull my peavey t-max head down to 2 ohms for more wattage. it has the metal input thing on the bak with two parallel jacks and an attenuator for the tweeter. has a foster hron and 2 eminence delta10 speakers in it. a metal grill, carpet covering. i have had this thing on the road with me in my praise band and in my hardcore band (www.colourofacasualty.com) and you would think it is brand new. this thing is durable. i am surprised at how much low end these 2 10" speakers can handle. this thing kicks butt! i have used this thing outdoors in my stack with my blackwidow 18" and this amp can handle outdoor gigs and the biggest of sactuarys with much volums capacity to spare. the only thing some of you may want on this is the speakon jack, but im not gonna gripe about that because i know that i would never use speakons. besides, i am pretty sure dave has added those to his newer cabs anyways. this thing is well built. the carpet is my favorite. my guitarists are always griping about how their tolex is getting ripped and im like, "ive got carpet." and then they get jealous. awesome cab.

i run my peavey millennium 5 (mm bridge p-up, jazz neck p-up) through my peavey t-max head at up to 500 watts at times and into this cab. this thing handles that perfectly and without any sign of stress. i usually keep the tweeter turned off or very low because i dont need stuff that high end, but it is a very good quality tweeter. this amp can handle my drop c tuning fine and it can handle my b without complaint, though it is a little faint but i dont use my b that much anyways. this cab makes no unwanted noise, but delivers tone that you would expect only out of nicer stuff...stuff that costs 2 or 3 times more.

Reliability : 10
being that im a poor hardcore kid, i have to be able to relly on my stuff without having a backup. i have no money. if this cab broke then i would be screwed. i am not scared of that happening because it hasnt let me down yet. this cab is a tank. i have had 0 problems with this cabinet and i dont expect to encounter any down the road.

Customer Support : 10
avatar can not be beat in this area. i never needed to talk to him once i got the cab but when i emailed with my questions and concerns i recived a prompt email back from dave himself. dave is the owner of avatar speakers and he cares enough to talk to his customers and answer their questions. try calling ampeg and asking to speak with the owner. that wont happen. but dave makes that happen when it comes to avaterspeakers.com.

Overall Rating : 10
i have been playing for 6 or 7 years and this was my first cab. i had always been doing the combo thing or going direct. i had concerns about this being my first cab, but dave reassured me. i play my peavey millennium 5 ($1600) through my peavey t-max head (~$500) through my avatar cab ($229) and my homemade cab w/ peavey blackwidow 18" speaker (got on a trade for an old bass). the avatar cab was the least expensive of all of my gear, but it is probably the best built piece of equiment that i have and it can probably take the biggest beating out of all of my equipment. if this cab were lost or stolen i would either buy it again or i would try another avatar cabinet. avatar is the only way for me. cheap price, but top of the line product.

Same features as listed on other reviews. It has all of the features that I'm looking for in a cabinet.

Sound Quality : 10
My setup consists of an SWR WM160 head and a Spector NS2000 bass. My playing style is a combination of vintage prog and alternative/hardcore. So far, this cabinet gives me all I need and more. For a small cabinet, it has incredibly tight punch and clarity. I haven't had a chance to push it yet, but honestly, I never have to push my gear. I either play in my studio or on smaller gigs. On larger gigs, I'll be combining it with a 1x15 cabinet loaded with an EVM.

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't have any experience in this area. But Dave offers a great warranty, and I don't doubt that he will cover it if there's any problem.

Customer Support : 10
I've purchased from Dave before, and I know several others who have as well. Avatar has one of the most consistently outstanding customer service reputations that there is. I highly recommend Avatar to anyone looking for a great speaker cabinet at a great price.

Overall Rating : 10
Honestly, I can't find anything I don't like about this cabinet. It's a killer cabinet. Period. The price just makes it a whole lot more attractive. I've compared it to a few other cabinets. To me it easily sounds as good as the others, and often it's at a fraction of the cost of them. If this one got stolen, I'd buy another in a heartbeat. The bottom line is, if you need more than what this cabinet offers - get a couple of them and stack em!

Absolutley the best 2x10 bass cabinet around, the two eminence speakers give out some serious bass and the Foster compresion horn, once adjusted to your particular taste give you some tasty highs, for a small guy it is plenty powerful.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
this cabinet sounds awesome, run it with a good head and you will get whatever sounds you want, I have an American P-bass and a Jazz bass, running through a SWR workingmans 4004, my p-bass in nice and punchy and the jazz bass is nice and funky through it, I do have to trim the horn back a little bit with the Jazz bass, but it sounds awesome. I get no distortion even with the amp on full (not that I really need to push the cab that hard, but it will take it like a champ)

Reliability : 10
havent had it that long, but this baby is well built, I belive it will last me for a long, long time.

Everyone is saying it, and it's the absolute truth, Dave rules!!, fast shipping, great packaging and even a thnk you email for purchasing from him, prince amongst men. he could teach Fender a lot about customer support.

If it were lost or stolen I would buy another one right away, if your thinking of spending twice as much for a Bergantino or an Eden, I would recomend you have your head examined, this cab is right up there with them, for half the price and twice the power handling, I would hurry up though, this are going to go up in price and are going to give other companies a run fro their money, Dave please don't let a big company buy you out!!!!

I just purchased this used from a local music store. Sounds great! This one is an older model with the rear porting instead of the front porting, but it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference. It also has the old school solid brass horn attenuation knob on the back plate, along with parallel 1/4 in/outs. The recessed handles are very cool and easy to use as well.

Sound Quality : 8
I love how the Eminence 10's really are very round and sonically clean, which is good for those of us that enjoy hearing the actual sound of our basses! The horn is a little too bright for me, but Foster horns do "bright" really well, so I keep it dialed back. The low end on my B is a bit pushed, and I can easily get them to fart out if I put too much signal to them, even on top of my Avatar 15. I may have to put an active crossover in my rack to aleviate the problem, because I play at high enough volume levels at times that it may fart out when I don't want it to.

Reliability : 10
These cabinets are built like tanks. I've moved it around a bunch since I bought it, and I've never had any trouble. Just plug and play! The construction and materials are as good or better than the SWR, Mesa, and Ampeg cabs I've played. I would like to see them maybe offer a cover material option such as Bullhide or Line-X truck bedliner. Much more durable than black carpet since they don't offer covers (hint hint Dave!)

Customer Support : 10
Dave Avatar is probably the coolest and most likeable salesperson I've dealt with long distance. You get what you ask for. When I ordered another piece from them, He took my credit card number, and it shipped the same day. When it hadn't arrived yet on the day it was supposed to, I called him, and he took 10 minutes out of his hectic schedule to find the tracking number and give it to me. Didn't matter, because it arrived 20 minutes after I called him, but just the fact that he took the time and was concerned that I received it and was satisfied was very cool indeed.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 11 years on Various amps and basses from Fender, Alvarez, Steinberger, Washburn, Carvin, SWR, Mesa Engineering, Ampeg, and Line 6. I currently play a Fender 50th Anniversary 5 string P-bass w/active P & Humbucker configuration, as well as a Carvin Quilt top maple neck through 5 string fretless w/active J's and an ebony fingerboard. My rig consists of a Gallien-Krueger 400 RB, Avatar 210, and a recently purchased Avatar 115H to go underneath. My extras include a Furman Rackrider RR15-HD, an Audio Technica wireless, MKS Productions Pedal Pad (www.pedalpad.com), Boss TU-2 tuner, Boss super phaser, Ernie Ball volume pedal, MXR Bass Octave, Guyatone Micro-Chorus, Electro-Harmonix Bass Balls envelope follower, Boss GEB-7 bass equalizer, and a Fulltone Bassdrive.

If my 210 were stolen, I'd probably upgrade to a 410, but I'd still get it from Avatar. I love the construction, the price, the service, and the overall sound. I dislike the hissy-ness of the horn, and the tendency of the 10's to fart out when digging into the lower registers of my basses at higher volumes. Overall, these are a great investment, and a rock solid cabinet

After reasearching different 2x10 Cabs, and trying to say enough cash, I read "Bass Player's" review on the Avatar B 2x10 Bass Cab. I finally ordered one and was pleasantly surprised. I'm using it along with my Eden Metro Combo amp. The cab is equipt. with 2 eminence 350 watt speakers and tweeter. Very easy to lift by yourself.

The cab. sounded very nice by itself, thumped when I turned on the Eden's internal speaker.

I've had it for 3 weeks and i can't really say but since it's so well built i guess it can withstand my kind of playing ( I play Blues and some classic Rock like Cream and Clapton ).

Dave is very friendly 2 days ago he phoned to tell me about the single speaker i bought and told me, since i live in Montreal, Canada, i needed to pay a little more for the shipping, no problem but i asked how come when i bought tht cab i did'nt need to send more money, he replied that he sent it anyway. Now if it's not great custumerr support what is. I own 2 Eden 4X10 and when i tried to ask some questions i got no answers. So for this i'm giving a 10.

I've been playing for about 32 years now i've played through Electro-Voice,Acoustic, Peavey and Eden speakers and i can honestly say this cab can stand its own against these cabs. I play 2 Fender Jazz basses one American Deluxe and a Mexican Deluxe through An Eden WT-800 and an Ampeg B-2R. What i love about this cab is its efficiency S.P.L. If it were stolen i'd buy another one roght away.

Simple to use - has a sweepable horn attenuator and parallel in/outs, sturdy recessed handles, large corner protectors that doule as stack interlocks and a rugged grille that is isolated from the cabinet by rubber mounts (to eliminate any buzzing). Well thought out for a gigging bassist. Huge power rating and a Foster horn that is more than ample to project crystal clear highs.

Sound Quality : 10
I like the B210 alone and use it for some smaller gigs that way. But where it really shines is when used in tandem with the B115 as a stack. I have both cabs (8 ohm) and drive them with a 400W SWR 4004 amp head. When I use them in stack form, I barely touch the 5-band EQ on the SWR. I really do get the tone I'm after at just about dead flat. When using the 210 alone, I dial in a significant amount of bottom end. Either way, I set the attenuator at about 1:00-1:30. It gets a little too much 'outfront' if not cut back a pretty good amount. But I'd rather have too much from the horn and have to cut back, rather than needing it and not having it. The sweepable attenuator is much handier to use/have than a 'switchable' attenuator some other cabs offer. I'm a weekend warrior playing classic rock and blues every weekend and this cab has been a stellar addition to my gear. I upgraded from a simple SWR combo and the Avatar(s) has dramatically improved my ability to fill the room with my stage rig. I still send a little bit through the mains - but in clubs and taverns, it's nice to be able to get the job done by just using my stage rig. Gets the job done and I've never had to turn my volume know past 10:30!

Reliability : 7
I had one of the Eminence Delta 10s go bad on me, so I must knock off a few points in reliability. Dave was great to deal with and he got a replacement ten (which I installed in about 10 minutes) to me before my next gig - but it was still an inconvenience. I believe it to be a fluke - a true manufacturer's (Eminence) defect - and not likely to happen again. So I'll not be too severe in my rating.

Customer Support : 10
Talk about turning lemons into lemonade! Dave had the task of coming through on the service end of things when my speaker went bad - a warranty item. To say he came through *shining* is a serious understatement. The phone call, the diagnosis, and the shipment of the replacement part all occurred within one afternoon. In fact, I bought two cabs from Dave and had this service requirement for a total of 3 items shipped to me. In each and every instance, he got the item packed and shipped the sameday as ordered/promised and a tracking number to me as soon as he had it. Great job! I wish I could give him more than a '10' rating. Seriously.

Overall Rating : 10
I think I covered everything else above. If lost/stolen, I'd be on the phone with Dave within minutes and I'm sure he'd have a new one out the door that day. These cabs are great for the money. But more importantly, they're just plain great. The 14 day return policy makes them a completely risk-free purchase. I can't recommend them highly enough.

The speaker cabinet was purchased new, direct from Avatar Speakers. It contains two Eminence 10 inch Delta drivers, along with a Foster high compression horn tweeter. The tweeter is adjustable. The cabinet is rated at 700 watts RMS and is front-ported. I ordered the 4 Ohm version of the cabinet (it is also available as an 8 Ohm cabinet). The cabinet has two 1/4 inch jacks, which allows for daisy-chaining of speaker cabinets. The cabinet is covered in black carpet, has a black metal grill, and two metal handles on the sides. It is a very nice looking and well-built cabinet. It is light enough to carry fairly easily (50 pounds), although I did order optional casters with it.

Sound Quality : 10
I play in an active progressive folk rock group and need a variety of sounds. My amp is a Peavey NitroBass (300 watts RMS at 4 Ohms) and I use two basses with the cabinet--a mid-90's Ibanez SR1200 and a Fender BG 32 (acoustic/electric). The cabinet really brings out the sweet melodic tones of the Ibanez, and the note definition when I am playing faster passages is amazing. The Fender is much thumpier, with a boomy lowend. The cabinet is well-voiced for the Fender as well. I also use a chorus pedal and cabinet handles this quite nicely, no low resonant "groans" or high-end "sizzles." I keep the tweeter at 3/4, but when the tweeter is up all the way, I can get some nice thumb-slaps and finger-pops with the cabinet. Before purchasing this cabinet, I had played through a variety of Fender, Peavey, Eden, Ashdown, and Carvin (used) cabinets. The Avatar is giving me a superior sound for the style of music I play, it is very clear and well-defined yet warm. It is simply awesome. Even my ten year old daughter noticed how good it sounds.

The cabinet is loud enough to handle a small to medium-sized venue.

Reliability : No Opinion
I have not had the cabinet long enough to know how reliable it is but I have not had any problems with it at all.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dave responded to my email order almost immediately after I sent it.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing bass and guitar for 30 years. I have used a wide variety of equipment and Avatar ranks with the best I have used. I was planning on spending some serious money to upgrade my equipment with boutique cabinets, but the Avatar B210 is giving me the sound I was looking for at a price I couldn't afford to pass on (I figured I could send it back or sell it if I didn't like it). It is not only a fantastic cabinet for the price, it is simply a fantastic speaker cabinet period. I would replace it in a heartbeat if it were stolen.

B210 cabinet with two Eminence Delta 10" speakers. Rated 700 watts @ 8 ohms. Has two 1/4" jacks for daisy chaining cabinets. Adjustable Foster horn. H/D side handles.

Sound Quality : 9
I play mainly Rock, with a Fender Jazz, P-Bass, & a Guild Pilot with active EMG's. It has been used with an Ampeg B-5R, a Hartke HA4000, a Eden WT400, and sounded very good with all of them. It is tight, focused, and has good punch. It also is very efficient, requiring very little power to drive. After playing it a while, I added a B115, which rounded out the bottom end. The Foster horn is hissy if adjusted above 1/2.

I have the 2003 model, 8 ohm B210 cab. It has 2 Eminence Delta 10 inch speakers. Has 2 quarter inch jacks for daisy chaining cabs. It also has an adjustable Foster horn. I give it a 9 because it doesnt have speakon connectors, but neither does my amp, so Im being over critical, but oh well. Putting speakons on it would probably up the cost quite a bit.

Sound Quality : 10
Im using it with an Ampeg B-2R head which pushes 200 watts through this 8 ohm cab. I also have a couple of homemade 1x15 cabs that I can run in parallel to get the full 350 watts out of my amp. Ill probably get an avatar C15 cab empty to put one of my 15's in. Sounds great, very growly and punchy. I think these deltas are the same speakers (but higher wattage) that many other speaker manufacturers use in their amps and cabs. Look at the pic of the cab on the avatar site, then look at a fender, carvin, eden, etc cab or combo. The speakers have the same dull blue cone and huge black dustcap. Coincidence? But like I said, the avatar cab handles 700 watts while an eden with presumably the same speakers will only handle 300 or something, I dont know why. Oh, I notice a bit of hiss from the horn, a little more than Id like, but maybe I just have a noisy amp.

Reliability : 10
Havent had it long, but its been great so far. UPS dented the grill in transit, but the rest of the cab survived the UPS onslaught just fine, so it must be good quality. Theres not much to go wrong with a cab. This one it built very sturdy (see other reviews). It also has a 1 year warranty.

Customer Support : 10
You cant get better customer service than avatar. Like I said above, the grill was dented by UPS in transit. I emailed Dave, he sends me a brand new grill at no cost. Excellent service. They deserve a 25 in this category.

Overall Rating : 10
If it were stolen, Id easily be able to afford another. And thats exactly what Id do. I chose this product for its quality, value, and tone. Avatar builds a solid cab with the same speakers and horns that the other, more expensive companies are using. Why pay for a name or a fancy chrome grill? I want a good honest price and the same tone as everyone else who spent twice as much money as me. I will definitely look to avatar for all my cabinet needs in the future.

2002 model Avatar 2x10 bass cabinet, rear ported. Delta 10s. 8 ohm. Adjustable high frequency horn. Stackable corners, durable black carpet finish. Metal grille with plenty of room over the speakers. Input and output to chain to a 2nd cabinet. What else can one ask for in a 2x10?

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using a pair of these cabinets with an Ibanez EDA-900 bass, going through a SansAmp RBI preamp to a TC Electronic compressor, and finally a Yamaha CP2000 poweramp. The cabinets are quiet; with the horns off they are literally absolutely silent. They can take whatever you feed them -- I've got my speakers bouncing around like crazy, and they're still crystal clear with plenty of bass!

Reliability : 10
Peeking inside the rear port, it's obvious that the cabinet is built to withstand quite a bit... it's solidly built and everything is screwed in quite firmly. The grille does its job well, the corners stack excellently, and the speakers are known industry standards.

Customer Support : 10
Look at any review on here for any of Avatar's products. Dave is the man. He's helped me out with every single problem I've had -- other companies would have placed me on their block list by now! When I finally was able to order the cabinets, he gave me a great deal, and worked with me when I (thought I) had a problem with one of the cabinets. They've got a one year warranty I believe, but I don't think I'll ever have a need to use it. If so, I know Dave would be right there to help, no matter what the problem was. I wish I could rate this as more than a 10.

Overall Rating : 10
I also own a Carvin RL410T 4x10 cabinet and an Ampeg PR410HLF 4x10 cabinet. The pair of Avatar 2x10 cabinets, stacked, blows the Carvin away with no doubt in my mind. The Ampeg can still move a bit more air -- it should, for a thousand-plus dollar 4x10 cabinet that's rated down to 29 Hz! But the bottom line is that the Avatars sound absolutely amazing, they fit in my car, and I can actually carry them (unlike the 130 pound Ampeg beast!). Note that I didn't say they sound great "for the price"; they sound great, period, and if they were twice the price they are now, they'd still be hard to beat.

2003 model with the slotted front bottom port,8 ohm, other features as above. As i dabble in speaker building myself, first thing I had to do when I got my Avatars was take em apart! These babies are very well built using 9 or 10 ply birch ply. The carpeting job is immaculate and the rest of the parts (corners, handles etc.)seem to be of good quality. The other beautiful thing about this cab is that if you blow a speaker you can replace it easily and cheaply (cheaper than a recone job). It's also very light.. about 50 lbs or so for the amount of sound it puts out.

Sound Quality : 10
This speaker sounds great.. I sold an Eden210xlt to buy a pair of Avatars and I like the sound of the Avatar better. It doent get quite as deep as the Eden but doesnt have quite the mid hump either. It sounds real good with my upright.

You wont find any better support out there. Dave answers emails almost immidiately. He must be glued to his computer. If any problems should crop up, im just not worried about it, Dave will take care of it. In contrast, i tried to contact Eden about a dozen times back in Nov. and have yet to get a reply

Ive been playing bass 30+years and Ive gone thru a lot of equipment over that time. Ive never run across a deal like this stuff. Its simply the best bang for your buck out there. If it were stolen, of course id replace it, but it wouldnt be that big a deal caus its so cheap to replace. The only downside is you cant try these cabs out first because they're not retailed so your taking a bit of a chance. I took it and feel like i came out a big winner!!

I use this with an alembic f2b head and a mackie 1400i. It did exactly what I was looking for, a round sound with great presence.

Reliability : 10
Solid as a rock, well built.

I wish all companys had the customer service avatar has.

I've been playing 37 years and I wish I found out about avatar many years ago. If you are considering buying any type of cabinet think avatar. I was considering either a eden 210xlt or a aguilar ( and I love aguilar] but I am extremely glad I bought avatar and I will definately purchase more from them.

8(eight) ohm model, 2 x 10" Eminence delta speakers and Fostex horn. 2 1/4" jacks in the back, and a knob to adjust the signal to the horn. Front port runs along the bottom of the cabinet. Cabinet is
covered in black fur, heavy duty black diamond metal grill in front. 3/4" plywood construction, weighs about 50 pounds. Dave (sorry, don't know his last name) at Avatar tells me this (2003 model) is a redesigned version of last year's model. Dimensions 18H x 25W x 16.5D. Rated at 700 watts. Heavy duty handles on the side. This cabinet feels very solid, and looks very cool. (If I designed speaker cabs, they would look just like this.)

Sound Quality : 10
The first thing I noticed is that this box is noticeably louder than the Ampeg classic 4 X 8" that it's replacing. I'll be using an Ampeg 15" cab with the Avatar, and running them with a SWR WM 4004 head. I play a Fender P-bass in an aggressive blues group (doing covers and originals), we gig 2-5 times a month, usually in clubs that seat 100-150. Onstage sound can be quite loud, and I usually need 2 cabs just to hear myself play, my signal gets DI'ed to the two subs of our PA.

After my first gig with the Avatar, I'm seriously considering leaving the 15" at home. The 10s give me plenty of low end, the horn gives me the highs. I'd love to replace two 70 lb. boxes with one 50 lb. unit. (I'll probably take both with me next time, and try a set with the 15" unplugged.)

I'm not an audiophile type guy with golden ears, I can just say that I was able to dial in my tone with out too much trouble. My amp EQ was about normal, I brought the volume of the horn down to about half, and I had it. Besides my old Ampeg, I also tried out the Peavy 2x10" box (about $100 more and 20 lbs. heavier). Not a fair comparison really-that amp was a Peavy too. I just prefer the sound of my rig with the Avatar.

What really impressed me was how this cab sounded at home, playing my Yamaha APX-7 acoustic/electric guitar (using the same SWR amp). Probably the best amplified acoustic sound I've heard in some time. I
imagine you could use the Avatar as a PA cab or monitor, in a pinch. Seems that all frequencies are well represented.

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't had it long (arrived exactly one week ago.) Construction is quite solid, and the components are high quality, so I'm not concerned. If I fry a speaker, it should be pretty easy to get another Eminence delta 10 just about anywhere. (I'm dumping the Ampeg because after 5 years, I blew out one of the 8's, and have no idea where to get the correct replacement. Ampeg discontinued this cab.) I think this has a one year warranty too. In my experience (playing bass since 1984) inferior bass gear breaks down pretty quickly. If the Avatar warranty is for a year, that makes me feel good about my purchase.
I don't really carry a backup rig (well, 2 cabs-but maybe not for long?). Last time my amp gave up on me, I went direct to the PA and used my vocal monitor to hear myself.

Customer Support : 10
Haven't needed service yet. Dave (at Avatar) was tremendously responsive to my 3 Emails, usually replying within an hour or so. When I ordered this, it took about one week to get here via UPS (from Spokane Washington to Toledo OH). I can live with that if I should need to send this back for any reason.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing bass for 14 years, and have gone through a lot of gear. Fender, Ampeg, Crate (don't get me started about my Crate!!!)SWR, Kustom, and Peavy. As you can see, I'm not much into the Hi-end
world of bass gear, but if I'm pulling down $60-100 a night playing small clubs, why should I need a $5K amp rig? I want something that is reasonably priced, dependable, portable, sounds good, and is easy to replace after a few years. When I read all the rave reviews about Avatar on the HC Bass forum, I figured that I had found my holy grail of speaker cabs. Inexpensive, well built, good sounding, and killer looks. So far, I couldn't be happier, and wouldn't hesitate recommending Avatar to other bass players. (I guess that's what I'm doing here, huh?) If they made PA gear, I'd talk to them today about
replacing our subs. (hmmmm, that gives me an idea.)

2 10" speakers and a horn, wired for 8 ohm.
Basic. Nice size (I can carry it with out killing myself). Not sure what else you could want. Some people have knocked the carpet and steel grate but I personally love it. I'm rough on my equipment and with these covers I can just throw this stuff in my trunk and not worry about something shifting on the drive.

Sound Quality : 9
My rig right now consist of a Fender MIJ Jazz and Warmoth P bass, both with EMG Active Pickups going through a GK 400RB head. No effects. My band plays mostly covers - guitar rock from the 70's through today. This cabinet sounds great for that type of music and with my equipment. I have the horn turned down pretty far, because it sounds very powerful.

With this setup, I have no problem being loud enough over drums and 2 guitarist. We play mostly in a decent size bar for probably 100-200 people. I can't believe how much sound I can get from just 2-10" speakers. They don't distort at all even when I am pushing them hard.

The only thing I would want is probably a little more low end. I think if I add the avatar 15" speaker, it would sound perfect.

Reliability : 10
Absolutly no problem. This is built like a tank. I've used it for countless practaces, a couple of parties, and about 8 bar gigs so far. Its been handled rough and pushed hard and there have been no problems. I quit bringing my backup combo with me to the gigs.

Customer Support : 10
Like everyone else said, Dave is awesome. Great advice. I ordered it on short notice for an important gig, and he built it that day and got it to me on time. 1 year warranty that I haven't needed yet.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 15 years. I chose this speaker because of its size (loud but carriable by yourself) and price, and the fact that my guitarist already used Avatar cabinets and his sounded awesome. After quit a bit of research, I think they are absolutly the best deal in cabinets out there.

If it were lose or stolen, I would absolutly get another one. I will probably be adding a Avatar B115 in the near future.

Not much to say that hasn't been said. High quality box laoded with industry standard speakers. Cheap, simple and perfect.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using the cab in parallel with a Nemesis NC-210 combo. I ordered two 16 ohm delta 10's from Avatar and installed them in place of the stock Eden speakers. This allowed me to connect the Avatar 210 cab in parallel without drwing too much current from the amp as it is only rated to 4 ohms. The sound is great. This cab does the job perfectly. I'm not pushing it too hard(only about 110 watts), so I can't speak of it's power handling prowess.

Reliability : 10
Seems sturdy. It's very uncomplicated so there's little to go wrong.

Customer Support : 10
Here's something that bears reapeating. Dave knows what he is doing. He runs a great business that provides musicians with a product that they want. However, due to the overwhelming response of his customers in this and other review forums, Avatar has grown in popularity and as a result the prices have gone up. More power to him I say, that's why you go into business in the first place. He could sell his cabs for a hundred dollars more and they would still be a bargain.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for 14 years. If you are looking for a simple cab that will get the job done and noot cost you a fortune, then look no further. If you care about name brand recognition, then wait another year before buy an Avatar, but keep in mind that in a year an Avatar cab will only be one hundred less than an Ampeg and two hundred less than an SWR.

Purchased in mid-2002, long enough ago that we have practiced with it, gigged with it, thrown it in and out of trucks and vans. Price was about $200, altogether $240 shipped to my door. Reasonably-sized (25"w, 16"h, 16"d) cabinet with 2-10" Eminence Deltas, stamped frame speakers w/ 2.5" vc's, 56 oz. magnets, and useful response into the midrange although this cab also comes with a horn tweeter with filter capacitor and L-pad for adjusting relative levels. 3/4" plywood construction, covered in black carpet with stacking corners (the diagonal-chevron kind) and heavy-duty handles. Dual 1/4" jacks in parallel. Ours is the 4-ohm version, two 8-ohm drivers in parallel. Basically this is just a box of speakers, but a good one. It's sold for bass-guitar use, but with its broad range it's useful for lots of other things too; we have used it with electronic drums and even once as a center-fill PA speaker in the middle of the stage.

Sound Quality : 10
This is usually used as part of a biamped or triamped bass-guitar setup with a BBE383 preamp, a Peavey PV1500 power amp, and one of 2 or 3 different short-scale bass guitars from an EB-0 solidbody to a Turser violin-bass clone. Compression is always dialed in (about halfway) on the BBE to even out transients, and with this peak-filtration setup, the Avatar cab will make a lot of noise for its size. We set the tweeter somewhere between "off" and "halfway" depending on the setting; it's pretty efficient and doesn't need to be run wide open unless you really want to hear every detail of string scrape and amp hiss.

Reliability : 10
We do depend on it, every practice, every gig. We have more cabs and amps than we use at most indoor gigs, so unless it's a big outdoor thing we always are leaving some stuff at home. Not this guy; it gets packed in the van every time, because it does a great job relative to its size and weight. We have abused it to the point of "speaker fart," I'm ashamed to say, but its has always bounced back. Someday we will melt the Eminence Deltas into smoking hulks, I'm sure, but if we do, we will simply buy another pair. Oh, and Avatar has great deals on replacement speakers since they buy them in bulk. The cabinet itself can't be faulted. Real plywood, not MDF or particle board. Solid construction. Tough carpet and giant plasic corners, well-attached, which have slid across truck floors several times without failure. And fairly light weight for its capabilities (about 45-50 pounds; one old fart like me can carry it easily). Seems like every amp/speaker company sells a 2-10" bass cab, but I have yet to find one significantly better than this, and all the "big names" cost more. Some cost a LOT more. Most I've seen look like they have the same Eminence Deltas that Avatar puts in this one.

Customer Support : 10
I have spoken with and emailed Dave at Avatar, probably enough that he winces when he sees my name in the email header. We have purchased (multiple)15" cabinets, as well as parts and raw speakers, from Avatar. I gather that this is Dave's company, and he runs it right - always prompt with an answer or suggestion. From reading other posts here I understand that he is serious about his warranty and support if anything goes wrong. We've never had anything go wrong. Avatar is one of the two best music-equipment companies I've ever dealt with. If the rating in this category could go to "11", that would be my choice.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing since the '60's. I've designed and built my own cabinets, and even written about that on the Shavano Music site (http://www.colomar.com/Shavano/), and I have to say, Avatar cabinets are built better than some of the cabs I've labored over for weeks in the garage. Avatar will also sell most of its designs "speakerless", i.e. cabs only, and I've bought a couple that way because they were just as good as the best I could do, at a price not much more than the materials alone (I'd only recommend this if you have speakers to put in them already; you can't buy good speakers cheaper than the price differential for finished Avatar cabs). I popped a few extra staples into the carpet lining for added security while I was poking around inside the cabinet, but I couldn't find anywhere else I could make or even suggest an improvement. I fully expect my Avatar stuff will outlive me. In an industry where absurd markups are the norm, Avatar cabs are a screaming deal, and this one is particularly versatile. For a large room, if you're only going to use one speaker cab for a bass rig, I'd recommend the 4-10" model instead, but as part of a multi-amped array (it fits perfectly on top of their B15 cabs), this little guy is hard to beat.

I needed clear punchy cabinets which were loud and easily transportable. I bought the B210 & the B115 to use together. The B210 is light and reasonably small and quite loud with excellent sound.

Sound Quality : 9
I am using this primarily for Rock, and it works exceedingly well. As with all bass cabinets that include a horn, the horn can be harsh, hence the slight reduction in score here.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had this cabinet long enough to really address reliability, I need to wait a few years first.

My dealings with Dave at Avatar have been great. I've not needed any repair work though.

I purchased the 210 cabinet loaded with 2 10" Eminence speakers w/ 56 oz magnets and Foster Horn via via Ebay for $155 back in August of 2001. As a musician in NYC, I have learned that size matters and you need gear that gets the job done while taking up the least amount of real estate. As such, I have downsized from an Ampeg 810 to an Ampeg 410 and now to the Avatar 210. At approx. 400 watts (rms) at 4 ohms, it works nicely with my Ampeg SVT -3 Pro. which pushes 400 watts @ 4 ohms, 275 @ 8ohms. The Foster horn is tuneable. It really fits my needs nicely.

This is really a great sounding, no-frills cabinet.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a G&L L2000 which has huge bottom end, and this cabinet in combination with my aforementioned Ampeg SVT -3 Pro gets the job done and then some. I play in an all-original "Brit-Pop" 3 piece and the bass, which serves as both rhythym and melody, needs to cut through, which it does cleanly and effortlessly. I have had other bass players ask about the cabinet, which is the best endorsement of the sound possible. While I wouldn't expect the cabinet to be enough on its own for playing Madison Square Garden (not that anyone has asked me to), it really works in your standard bar / small to mid-size venues. I get all of the bottom end, mids and highs that I am looking for with each being nicely defined. I've never tried it with a 5 string so I can't speak to how well it would do with low B.

I had another 210 cabinet, a Hartke Transporter loaded with 2 Eden 10's, (no horn) and the Avatar just sounded so much nicer and more full, that I decided to sell the Hartke/Eden.

Reliability : 10
The cabinet is built really solidly as it is made from 3/4" plywood and not pathetic particle board that some manufacturers foist on their customers. Some of the internal carpeting which is used for sound dampening fell down during shipping as it wasn't well-stapled in place; an easy enough fix, though. It also arrived with a ding in the side (Thanks, UPS). Dave of Avatar felt badly enough to refund my shipping cost. He is exceptionally responsive to his customers - an absolutely A-1 guy!

Customer Support : 10
Absolutely the best customer service I have ever had from any company, especially a music-related company. Other CEO's should take lessons from Dave.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for over 20 years and have had Ampeg, Eden and Peavey amps, cabinets and combos. This 210 really works for me with respect to my power vs. size requirements. If I had the room for a 410, I'd purchase it from Avatar. Avatar really offers exceptional value and the sound takes a back-seat to no one.

The only thing I would change (and have) is that when I purchased the cabinet, it came with individual speaker grills. The newer versions now sport a full grill and I have ordered one from Dave and he was kind enough to let me purchase it at his cost plus shipping.

These are really great values and anyone looking for a new cabinet should snap these up at the bargain basement prices on Ebay. While I wouldn't rate these at the same upper echelon as Epifani, Acme or Eden, they don't embarass themselves and they compare very well with Ampeg, SWR, Fender, Carvin, etc and are MUCH better values!!
