overall the cab sounds amazing.the tweeter is easily adjusted and can make your ears bleed if you want it to. it has pretty good bass response and it can get pretty low. i've been using my fender aerodyne custom fretless with a mahogany body, bartolini musicman pickup and tct 3 band preamp through a ashdown mag 300 and a swr 900 with it and it handles the barts very well. when comparing it to an aguilar 410 and a swr 410, this had better sounding distortion when i turned my trusty boss ds-1.

this is the best cab you can get if you dont care about spending $800 or more on eden or swr. i'm in the process of saving up for the SB112 which will contribute to some chest punding bass, and i suggest the next cab you get be an Avatar.

I purchased my cab in 94' from a store in San Leandro Calif. It had 4 x 10" speakers and a horn with a varible attenuator on the back of the cab and 2 1/4" jacks Not much to report here just a very basic, ported 4 x 10" cab. The cab. was covered with really, cheesy and cheap black carpeting and a decent metal grille. However I discovered that one of the speakers was totally misdrilled and air was escaping from this errant hole.
When you removed the speker grille the plywood was not even sanded and you could see where someone had forgot to spray paint the lower left corner.
Note to QC team: Don't smoke out before shift!

At the time I was so happy to have an affordable 4x10" cab I thought it sounded pretty good. But in hindsite it was a cheaply made bass cabinet and it sounded cheap. Thin tones, weak speakers and it always sounded like it was on the verge of blowing speakers. It definatley had a very high-mid range sort of sound and very little lo-end. Weak all the way around. I think the speakers in the box were some really low-end celestions that suck ball.

Ummmm... It never failed me, but it's worth it to purchase an Ampeg or Mesa cabinet and not play with a toy.

Albiet I purchased this cabinet a long time ago so maybe they have made vast improvements since then, but I would say don't even bother with it because you can get a slightly used ampeg or mesa setup for the same price and that is gear that is built to last. You get what you pay for.

This is a new 2005 B410 Delta 4 ohm cab. I have used my 2004 cab for a year now, with my Peavey Firebass 700 for bass, and I tried my Boogie Studio .22 guitar amp with it for guitar, and it also sounded great with my Les Paul Standard.

I have yet to find a limitation with this cab unless I try to get insane levels of volume out of it, and the amp's distortion protection kicks in.

I have used it for a year without a backup. The only reason I bought the new cab was to run my amp at 2 ohms and to split my sound up to have bass on both sides of the stage.

2005 B410 Delta with dual 1/4" jacks and a speakon. This is my 5th Avatar cab, constantly changing and upgrading my rig to find the "Perfect" set-up. Went from 15's to 10's to get a more crisp sound. This 410 is under my B210 Avatar cab I bought last year. Playing through my Eden WT-800, it is a piece of heaven on earth. I've played Fender, Hartke, Eden and SWR cabs but for the money, I'll stay with Avatar.

I play R&B with my '02 Stingray 4 or '87 P-Bass. This cab never gets muddy like a 15, although I set the tweeter at about 9:00... dont use too much there. I can get the buttery sound or real biting with just a tweek of the EQ...

I tend to alternate my basses between an Ibanez SR305DX, and a custom Steve Harris Tribute bass, running into an SWR 4004 bass head. Playing soul/jazz/funk, I need plenty of pop with a lot of bottom going. Extremely efficient power handling, and I can upgrade amps anytime, without having to think about what I'll do to my cabinets.
I actually put it to the test at a show in Ft. Lauderdale. I spent the rest of the night getting complements on my sound.

I never gig anything without a backup, but I don't worry about this dying in the middle of a show. It's living in its roadcase, and that's where it'll stay. If something were to happen, I've got an Avatar 2x10 waiting.

Pretty basic. Just 4 10 inch speakers in a box, and an attenuatable tweeter. It is what it is.
I rate as if this were a grade. 10 being grade A, 7 being satisfactory, 6 barely worth the money, 5 and below, just a waste of my time and money. So, this cab get's a "7" for features. What do you expect from it?
Sound Quality
:

I play a 5 string Carvin. The bass itself is a good sounding bass. I record direct with it, and it has a great direct sound, lots 'o clarity, with a good top end. Not boingy like the Ibanezes, and other basses in this price range(yes, I played a ton of bases before I found this bass). SO I know what the bass sounds like raw. THis cab doesn't transmit that sound into the air. It makes a lot of noise if you give it a TON of power. But it doesn't give you what you put into it.
This is not a very efficient cab. It takes a whole lot of power to get it to talk to you. Not good for bass to tell you the truth. The Delta 10s have a short Xmax, and aren't all that great for bass. Read the data sheet from eminence, and learn to understand the T/S parameters of a speaker before you buy. It would have saved me some heartache. I've used a 400 watt (1/2 of a Peavey CS800) into and it just doesn't talk. I put a 900W (QSC of some sort) amp on it and it started to sing. I don't particularly care for the sound. Hard to explain really. It's there, and it gets loud, but it's not particularly articulate. It just is what it is. An inexpensive 410 bass cab. I got less than what I expected. But, I can't complain TOO much. It does work, and make a lot of sound if you want to lug around a huge Power amp.
It barely makes the grade with a "6" on sound.

How do you rate reliability on something like this. It does what it's supposed to. So, it meets my expectations and get a satisfactory "7".
However, I must note. THe capacitor used for the crossover on this cab was hot glued to the jack-plate, and had come off the jack plate between the factory, and my house. This can be a concern, but hasn't really affected the reliablility of it.
One of the jacks on the jac plate is broken now (after about 1.5 years of use). It hasn't effected the other jack, but it's kind of discouraging. I can fix it in about 10 minutes if I felt like it, but I'm lazy. :P So, it still works, I just can't daisy chain it (don't want to anyway).

The folks at Avatar are pretty down to earth and were eager to answer my questions. They seem to want to bend over backwards to help you out. I odered their B15 to go under this cab, and all they had was a B115H (with the tweeter in it). So they sent it to me at the price of the B115. So, I got a free Capacitor, and fostex tweeter. Super cool.

Overall rating is based on the price, and performance aspect. You get a 1400W cab for less than 400 dollars. You can't expect it to outperform the 800+ dollar cabs out there. Bang for the buck is great. It's just not something I want to record with again. Also, consider this thing is HEAVY. WHen you pick it up by the handles it pitches forward. Oh, and you will want a friend to help you move it. Yea, you can get it into the truck yourself before the gig, and maybe even pull it out when you get there. But at the end of the gig, you don't even want to look at the thing.
SO the overall rating is a very Healthy "7". I see Avatar offers different speaker models for this cab now. Wish they affered them when I bought it. Looking back I would have researched the drivers in it a bit closer. THey are MID RANGE drivers. Seems to do fine for my 4 string Fender, but playing a 5? Fugetaboutit. You'll send these thing into overexcursion pretty quick, and they'll break up.

This is a new 2004 B410 cabinet. 4 ohm. Ordered and delivered in August 2004. It has 4 10" Eminence speakers, a Foster horn, 2 1/4" phone jacks and a speakon connector, all wired in parallel.

I play mostly "classic rock" and some light jazz. Mostly fingered, some pick and a few slaps. I found the cabinet to be very "honest". It sounded like the settings on my amp. When I changed the settings to sound flat, it sounded flat. When I turned up the bass and added some color, the cabinet responded with no problem and very predictable. I had the horn set to 1/2 or the 12 o'clock position. I heard none of the noise that others have complained about and I had it set to a moderate playing volume. When I de-tune the "E" string to a "D" to play Creed tunes, the cabinet sounds great. I'm driving it with a Peavey Firebass 700. I gave it a 10 because I found it had the same or better sound quality than the Ampeg 410 cabinet I a-b'ed it with. The Avatar was less than 1/3rd of the price.

I would use this cabinet without a back-up. I would consider another B410 or perhaps a B115 as a second cabinet, but only if I get a gig playing the Los Angeles Coliseum.

I bought this cabinet to gig as a bass player. I'm originally a guitar player and I've owned Mesa Boogie, Yamaha, Marshall and Peavey amps and cabinets. This cabinet has construction to rival any others I've looked at. I would buy another cabinet, but I can't afford a divorce lawyer right now. If I lost this cabinet somehow, I would replace it with another Avatar.
Likes...
1) Recessed control/input panel. Deep enough that the horn control won't hit anything.
2) Looks. This cabinet looks great. Well finished and very practical.
3) Sound. It has all the volume I need to keep up with 2 egos, I mean guitar players with Line 6 amps.
4) Price. There is nothing that compares with this cabinet for less than $800 in the Guitar Center/Mars Music realm.
Dis-likes.
1) It's a very heavy cabinet. I carried it up a staircase without an ambulance standing by. Dangerous. I recommend buying the casters or getting a set of removable casters. You might want to keep beer around for your roadies...
2) Avatar should sell speaker cables with their cabinets. $25 for a speakon cable that's only 9 feet long?!? Dave, help!
Cabinets I shopped before buying this one...
Peavey, both of the 410 cabinets. The normal one and the one with the upgraded speakers. I thought it only sounded good with 2 cabinets.
Ampeg, The 410 sounded thin and I didn't want to pay for and move a SIFT 810.
SWR, I thought it was similar to the Peavey cabinet, just more expensive.
Trace Elliot. Too much flash, not enough meat.
Fender. I don't like the sound of any Fender cabinet, regardless of the speakers that are in them.
Mesa Boogie, I like the guitar amps, but the bass cabinets were way over-priced and didn't impress me with the sound, but that might have been the amp or the small demo room at GC.
I was hesitant to buy a cabinet that I haven't heard. The price was definatly a factor in this decision and I was not disappointed. The 14 day return policy was my deciding issue. If I decided it sucked, I could send it back and only be out the shipping costs. I felt it was a reasonable risk. I'm glad I took the chance. I really like the cabinet.

Not at all what this thing was made out to be. Very dissappointed in the sound. Very thin and sterile.. Loud, but no balls. Played it with a Stingray and GK700RB head. Sounded good for the slapping and popping thing, but deep lowend was non-existent. Anemic sounding..

Didn't keep it long enough to say.. The grill was cheap.. I guess if you have to cut cost somewhere.. that's the place to do it.. People rave about the low cost, but it's really not that much cheaper than some GOOD cabinets out there.. Learned that the hard way.

This is one of the most dissappointing purchases I've made. These things came so highly recommended that I thought I couldn't go wrong.. Well.. I was wrong.. This thing was not what it's made out to be, and really not all that cheap.. People rave about the low prices, but much nicer gear can be had for not much more.. Equipment is a very subjective thing, so I suggest you try one yourself.. I think they have a 14 day return policy.. I didn't feel like boxing this monster up to ship it back.. of course I did after I eventually began to hate looking at it..

I purchased the B410 cabinet in October 2003. I use it for rehearsal and gigging on a regular basis. My rig consists of various eq's, effects (including a Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro), and a Peavey digital 400w power amp. I play a Rick 4003 and a Yamaha 5-string. These speakers will allow me to use a variety of settings and haven't disappointed me yet. The tweeter adjustment comes in handy to get that extra punch or turn down for more bass.

The Eminence speakers put out an unbelievably crisp and clean sound. I replaced a Hartke 4X10 cabinet with this one, and there's no comparison. The Hartke sounds distorted in comparison, and I'd put the Avatar cabinet up against an Ampeg any day.

I've been playing bass since 1967. I've owned every kind of speaker cabinet--from Fenders to Kustoms (remember those?) to Peavey, and several in-between we won't mention. The Avatar B410 is by far the best sounding bass cabinet I've ever heard or owned. In the event this cabinet was stolen, I'd IMMEDIATELY order another just like it. I'm planning to add a B210 cabinet this summer.

The Cab only sounds good at low volumes, For 1400 watts this things dosn't put out very much. The cab gets very distorted and muddy sounding, not at all clean sounding, unless used at a super low volume. The foster horn is very noisy and in my opinion should be replaced with a higher quality horn. It has a fairly decent tone when it is at a low volume. I use a Fender P-bass and mxr di+ direct box, with a trace elliot power amp and a yamaha pb-1 pre amp, all rackmount. My old Head was a peavey 300 series bass head. This cab dosn't have a very fat sound. I was playing the Ampeg 410hlf and fell in love with the extended low range, and Avatar dosn't produce even half the tone that comes from the ampeg. I research the speakers used, and they are actually meant for midrange in 3-way pa systems, or keyboards. I have owned this cab for over a year, and have literally put it to the test with many gigs and different head combinations, I have tried so many different eq pedals and tone controls to fix this cab's tone, at this point it is hopless.

Honestly Don't buy this cab unless your on a super tight budget and you play soft Jazz rock, or hardly play bass at all. Over time you will realize the flaws with this cab. In my opinion you should just save up and get an Ampeg or a SWR. Don't fool with this cab get something that will be reliable and will sound great.
