This cabinet is Phenomenal. 4 heavy duty American Made Eminence 10 inch DELTA Bass Speakers and a tweeter. These Eminence Delta 10's have 56 oz magnets and 2.5 inch voice coils and are rated at 300 watts RMS each speaker. The four 10's combined are rated at 1200 WATTS RMS. The cab. was shipped with a full-faced grill, and pre-set holes for casters. All of the internal connections are well-made, and connected. My only wish is that the cabinet had an output jack for daisy-chaining; and it is my understanding that Avatar is now offering this with their new version of this cabinet.

Am palying on this cabinet through an Old Crate BT-350 with a Aphex big Bottom Aural Exciter, and a BP-200 pedal; with an Ibanez Thunderbird 4String; or a B.C. Rich Warlock N.J. I have been playing hard rock/metal for over eight years, and since I bought this cabinet in June of 2000, I have been impressed. It is has been very versitile, as well as it still sounds as great today as it did when I first received it- which is saying alot, we practice at full-volume four night a week, and gig on weekends, at least two nights a week- so for almost two years I have abused this cabinet, and play it at full volume six nights a week, 4 to 8 hours a night. Is by far the best value that I have ever got out of a cabinet; much less any other peice of musical equipment that I have purchased. The tone has always been warm and undistorted; with clear crisp highs when pushed to it. The lower end is full, and very boomy without being muddy. The Avatar cabinet was originally purchased to compliment an Ampeg Classic 4 x 10 cabinet that I also puchased new in June of 2000; and has lasted longer; taking all of the abuse that I have been able to dish out!

This cabinet has never let me down; and has traveled with us well over 20,000 or 30,000 miles in the last few years. I actually had my Ampeg cabinet blow a speaker at a gig @ four months ago, when the Avatar cab. kept pushing. I have recently actually sold my Ampeg Cabinet to buy another Avatar cab. The only problem that I have had with the Avatar cab. is that the outside carpeting is beginning to pull away from the corner supports, due to all of the moving the cabinet has been through. The outside has been easy to keep clean, and is very rugged.

Needle4ss to say, when I bought my Avatar 4 X 10 I was broke ( most musicians are) and Dave was Great enough to cut me a phenomenal deal, and since you get to talk to him directly, be it via phone, email or whatever; the Customer Service is great. He helped me decide which cabinet would be good for me, pending my heads wattage, ohms, etc. And told me if the cabinet wasn't helping me achieve the sound I wanted, to return the cabinet it and he'd help me find the perfect cab. for me- whether it was his or not. Great Guy, and impeccable service!

If this cabinet were lost or stolen I would relpace it for sure; no question, hands down. As I said earlier, I am planning on buying another; as well as one of my gutairists is palying through one of Dave's Gutair cabinet a 4 X 12 that he is overjoyed with; and we are running a pair of Dave's 15' PA speakers as part of a set of 6 PA speakers and the Avatar cab's ALWAYS sound better than the 2 Peavey 15's or the two Fender 10's that we run.
Avatar is a Great Product at a Phenomenal Price!

Bought this cab in May 2001. It is now Aug 2002, so I have been railing it for over a year. The beauty of this cab is in it's simplicity. Just a straight ahead 410 cab with horn control. Construction is very solid yet, still incrediably light compared to other 410's that I have owned. (namely the Ampeg 410 Celestion loaded).

Very tight and punchy while not sacrificing any low end response. I am a slapper and play with a fair amount of midrange in my mix. With adjusting the control knob on the back, I was able to dial in a great tone. I am running it under Gallien Kruegers.

Not a single problem with this cab, although I did also buy a set of 15" main speakers in which the horn fell apart within a couple of days of recieving it. No fault of Dave's, just havent gotten around to calling him about it yet. But the 410 is solid as a rock.

I have been a bassist for of 12 years. I play a variety of styles, from slap, funk, rock, metal, jazz, and blues. It has never let me down. Also a studio engineer. So sound is very important to me. I would definately buy it again, and in fact, plan to buy another soon.

The cabinet lookes fantastic. Very slick. The only qualm I have is that it could have been packed better.
2002 Avatar cabinet (4 ohm) with 4 Eminence 10" speakers and single Fostex tweeter. Tweeter volume on
back of cabinet. Covered in black ozite (road carpet) with interlocking corners and recessed handles. I would
have liked more connection options than the typical 1/4" plugs. Having a banana and Speakon jack would give
you more options.

The sound is as good as any of the audiophile stuff out there. I've played everything from junky Peavey to
SWR. This is an INCREDIBLY efficient cabinet. I bought it after using an Acme Low B cab for the past year
and like it MUCH more. It has TONS of low end and the highs are easily tweaked with the tweeter volume.

This thing is a tank. It handles a total of 1200W, so I'm not even remotely concerned about its safety in live
situations.

Avatar is great. You deal with the owner (Dave) when you order. You tell him what you want, and it's exactly
what you get. The warranty is for 1 year with a 2 week trial period. No risks involved.

I've been an active player for 17 years and have at least used almost everthing out there. These cabs are as
good as stuff that costs 3 times as much. I really like the simplicity of the system. The efficiency allows you to
get every last watt out of your amp. I use an Ashdown Mag 400 and the thing couldblow sheetrock off of
walls. I plan to buy a smaller cab for studio/small club use and it will absolutely be an Avatar.

Brand New 4 ohm 4x10 w/ 300 watt Eminence delta 10's. Foster(?) horn, steel side handles, 1/4" inputs. pretty basic. the horn level knob sticks out a little far in the back for my tast (might get broken off), but dave assured me it's never been a problem. can easily handle the low B. horn is a little bright, i don't use it. it's built like a tank, but not too bad on the back.

i play mostly rock and i use an Ampeg B4-R bridged mono at 1000 watts. the cab has nice punch and definition. very clear. not too stoked about the high end from the horn, but that's easy enough to turn off. otherwise it's super beefy.

i've owned swr, ampeg and nemesis cabs, and i'm very happy with the Avatar. for the price you can't beat it. the tone is similar to my old SVT-410E cab that i have. smooth low end. very clear. not as fragile sounding as the SWR i used to have. it's a 180 degree turn from the nemesis cab. clear low end, defined mids, no mud.... i'm considering a 1x15 as soon as dave gets 'em in 4ohm..

4x10 eminence deltas with a fostex horn. the horn has adjustable volume. I don't use the horn very often as it makes my slightly overdriven tone sound like an overdriven guitar. As far as features go, this cab has everything i could hope for in a 4x10

I play in a rock band, not metal, not pop-rock but somewhere in there. My setup includes a Fender American Deluxe P-bass (all P all the time), an Ampeg SVP all-tube pre and a crown 2 channel power-amp, each channel pumping out 275 at 8 ohms. I use the 4x10 in conjunction with the Avatar 1x15. IMHO a pretty killer rig. My bass philosophy is to fill up the bottom end and groove out the rhythm section. I do not do slap, not any crazy solos. Just not my thing. This cab does just that and allows me to compete (and even over-power if I wanted to) with any PA system / guitar rig / crazy drummer. Its power handling is phenomenal. Its ability to produce exactly what I dial in to the pre is great. 8 because i wish the horn did not distort. I'm not overdriving the amp all that much at all (I'd say the Drive knob is at 3 or 4 out of 10 on the pre)

I have gigged many times with it and it has always worked. I've had it for about 5 months now. I also practice about 5 times a week at pretty much full volume. I can't complain at all about its reliability. It gets thrown around while setting up for gigs because most of the places I play count the setup time as part of your alotted time to play, so we have to set up and take down super fast.

Dave at Avatar is very friendly. At one point I had a little problem with my Power-Amp / Pre-Amp combo, and was blaming it on the speaker. He was very friendly and apologetic and even offered to have it shipped back to him for repair all on his bill. Thankfully i figured out it was not the speaker and fixed the problem before making him do all that. But the fact that he offered won me over. I even called him to tell him that I fixed the problem and he remembered me. Now that is customer care! I can't say enough about the support.

I've been playing bass for 4 years, and this was my first step into the realm of huge equipment. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and if it were stolen i would be happy to replace it. This speaker is better than the big name brands, looks just as cool if not cooler, doesn't make you look like one of those "Ampeg player" or "Eden player" but gives you the sound of one of those types, while leaving you with extra money to buy stuff that really shapes your tone like cool pre's, nice bass guitars and powerful amps. The only reason I could think of not to choose these cabs over similar swr, ampeg or eden cabs is if you are being sponsored by one of those companies (cuz you'd get them for free). Thats the only way to beat these prices for very comparable performance and look.

Based on my initial impression of the Avatar 410, I would replace it if it were stolen, and I actually think I will add one of his 15" cabs in the future to take advantage of my amp.

One person states the following...
"takes 600 watts RMS, but distorts on my 300 watt amp...somethings wrong here"
To most of us that know sound gear, it's easy to see what his problem is. Obviously he doesn't have enough overhead. He also fails to mention what amp head he's using. (Garbage In - Garbage Out) I seriously doubt that his distortion problem is any fault of the cabinet!!!

This cab is jsut what I needed. I started playing with a new band and needed a new amp set-up. So I picked up a Pignose b100vh all tube head (100watts) and then after a lot of internet searching found this cabinet. Handles my head very well and is solidly constructed with plywood not MDF which is a big plus. These things are remarkably priced and an incredible value. When I purchased mine, they were temp. out of stock of the 8ohm model so I got the 4ohm which came with 56oz speakers which was a great bonus and I'm sure do a lot for the sound compared to the reg. models which I have not heard. Tolex would be nicer than carpet but would probably push up the cost. As well, grill cloth looks better in my opinion, but the metal grate is definetly better for transporting and protecting the speakers. Large handles on the each side make it easy to carry.

I play in a rock/pop/jazz band outfit to keep it short and this cab works great in my set-up. (Fender American Jazz Bass and Pignose tube head)
Like I said, the 56oz were a definite bonus and having an adjustable horn is fantastic on a cab this cheaply priced.
I've gigged with it 3 times now and the speakears are broken in and sounding great. I BELIEVE they are Eminence 10" similar to deltas but a model distributed only to cab/amp manufacturers.

Dave at Avatar was very helpful. Answered all my e-mails promptly. I ordered it by phone and it was shipped right away. The only hold up on getting it here to Canada was UPS' fault.
I'll say it again, throwing in the 56oz for the same price was a great deal and helped me finalize my decision.

I was in a pinch to find a cab I could afford and am extremely glad I came across Avatar Speakers. As others have stated they are priced cheaply but are not cheap cabs. I would place them in the middle to high end bracket. After purchasing this, I tried out a yorkville 4x10 which was over $200 more expensive (supposidly an econmical choice)and didn't sound as good in my opinion.
You can't beat the price or the quality that is delivered for the cost. If your in the States or even Canada after the conversion you won't find a better deal.
I am extremely happy with this cabinet. Besides the minor cosmetic issues; carpet instead of tolex, metal grill instead of cloth. But that's being superficial and the sound and value more than makes up for those minor details.

Hi, I was the first person that placed the first review on this cabinet. I would like to clear things up a bit and give my opinion of this cabinet now that i have really experimented with it more. I now realize that it was my mistake when i thought that this cabinet had speakers with 56oz. magnets. Like Dave said, the 2x10 cabinet has those speakers. Sorry about all of this but it gets confusing looking at all of those ebay ads. Anyway, this cabinet has 4 10inch eminence beta10 drivers along with one foster HF horn. Solid plywood cabinet is nicely constructed as well.

I use this with a washburn bass and a peavey firebass 700 head. After playing with it for a while I found a nice bright, punchy tone. I also did begin to like the tweeter more and thought that gave it a nice effect to my sound. There wasnt too much distortion and it couldnt really be noticed at all when the band is all playing or even when you are a few yards away from the cab. The cab can hold up in fairly loud practices but does need some re-enforcement if you are in a larger room, or have a really tall ceiling. I have found this cab to sound equal if not better than that of ampeg and hartke...
Reliability
:

I would say that this cabinet was quite reliable. I've played about 10-12 shows with it, even with more than one band using my cab. I practice twice a week for 4 hours a day, at least, and for about 10 months now with this cab. So this cab has tons of hours on it!

Ive been playing bass for ~5 years now. I own several other cabinets that i have built, along with my washburn bass and peavey head. If it were lost or stolen i would probably buy another one unless i found a really awesome local deal or something. I like that this cabinet is small, and it doesnt break my back too much(not too heavy, ~70lbs.) Compared with ampeg, hartke and fender, i give this cab a thumbs up. I feel that if you dont like this cab at first, give it time and try out every setting on your amp, i bet that you'll find one that makes it sound real nice. I'll give a 9 because it took me so long to find that perfect setting on my amp.
