Has a speaker and two inputs. Could probably have a tweeter, but would it still be compact? Maybe not, and thats a big selling point for me. It has the features I need.

I play a Mex. Fender P-Bass through a Gallien Krueger 400RB head, and this cab sounds great with those. I play mostly classic rock/ christian praise and worship, and this cab works with that. I can get a great range of tones through the 400RB and the cab sounds great no matter where my amp is set.

Overall this is a great cab. If it were lost or stolen I would try to get it back. I dont see it on the manufacturers website, so I'm not sure if its still in production. If I had to replace it I'm not sure I would go out of my way to get the same thing, but I wouldnt get rid of it either. I like it and I plan on keeping it!

Purchased the 8 ohm model in early 2004. I was attracted to the high ratings on HC, my guitar player friend that raves about them, the high output and durability, and the fact it (just) fits into my Honda Civic and my budget. The horn is nice to have for applications that need it. I do wish it had a detent in the horn control button for half way for mid-gig tweaking. I also wish there was a way to allow you to change the impedance between 8 and 4 ohms but that's a wish list item and not something that affects my rating. I intentionally don't 'baby' my Avatar cabs (I also run the 2X10 cab). In and out of the car dozens of times to the typical hostile environments musicians play in. The corner covers have held up great and the black carpet finish just needs a vacuum once in a while. I bought the casters but have not installed them yet.

Great, versatile sound. I definitely believe this to be true since at the moment I run through a Behringer head. The Behringer is a great value in a head but can't compete on sound alone with the higher end stuff, and I still get fantastic tone that I attribute in large part to the cab. I play in a heavy rock band and the thump is definitely there. I jam with blues and funk guys and the warm lows and crisp slap tone is present(with horn engaged). In one word, I feel the cab is 'responsive' to whatever you deliver to it and the best indicator of how usable it is. My 300 watt head has not begun to push the cab to it's limits so I don't know what it would be like under duress, but my gut feeling is it would still perform well. I use the cab alone and with an Avatar 2X10 with excellent results. I'm curious what the 1X15 and an Avatar 4X10 would sound like. Probably awesome. I give it a '9' because I want to avoid that 'it sounds great for the money' rating. I'm rating it against it's competition regardless of price.

I've seen the inside guts, the speakers are tough as nails, and the outside speaks for itself.

I've played for 31 years, both guitar and bass, and a year ago committed to playing bass exclusively. Styles include rock, blues, country, and funk. My setup is Fender Jazz - Keeley compressor - Behringer head - BBE 482i in the loop - all powered by Furman AC spike protection. I would replace this cab if stolen etc. It's very portable and potent. And you won't need a second mortgage to replace it. I tried SWR, Ampeg, and Hartke prior to ordering the Avatar cab. The SWR was too sterile for me and the Hartke sounded buzzy IMO. The Ampeg was first rate but not enough better to make me buy it. My wish list is a detent for the horn control and, if the engineering were possible, a variable ohms switch to go from 8 ohms to 4 ohms. I'm looking at different heads (Ampeg, SWR, GK) and can't wait to see what one of these will do with this cab.

I picked up Avatar's 15c in 2002. It looks very rugged with carpeting, black plastic corners, and a metal grill. It has a 15" eminence woofer in a small light box. It has 2 1/4" jacks for piggybacking a second cab to it.

I play through a Fender 75 reissue Jazz and I power it with one of two Ampeg heads. One is the SVT400T, and the other is the SVP Pro preamp with a QSC RMX 850 power amp. This amp is just fills the room with smooth bass tone. It's thunderous, when you want it to be, and mellow when you don't. To fill out the sound, I highly recommend using it with the Avatar 112 cabinet.

I have been playing for 14 years. I have used Carvin, Fender, Ampeg, SWR, Peavey, and Gallien Kreugar gear. My Ampeg SVP going through the Avatar 15c and B12 is the nicest rig I have played through.

The Compact 115 (or C15 as the invoice called it) is a small (17 by 17 by 16 in.) rear ported single 15 cabinet. Equipped with an Eminence Kappa 15 (stamped steel frame) this cabinet is rated at 400 watts. It's solidly built of 3/4 in. plywood, covered in black carpet with stacking corners, a full face grille (custom ordered at the time, but now standard) and a single strap handle. The inside of the cabinet is lined with acoustic damping material. The speaker is mounted to the cabinet with drywall screws. Shipping weight was 40 lbs. but I haven't weighed it. The rear panel features the port (3-3/4 in. dia) and a steel jack cup with two 1/4 in. (Switchcraft) jacks. No tweeter...simple, straight forward and reliable.

I had messed around with cabinet modeling programs and the Thiele Small parameters for the Kappa 15 before I bought these cabinets (I bought two). Since the C15 is such a small box, the numbers suggest that it won't go deep. My measurements tell me that it's tuned in the low to mid 50s. However, I was very happy with the way that my 5 string Warwick sounds through the pair of cabs driven by a red faced SWR Bass 350. Very punchy. They didn't would very good with my old Acoustic 450 head, but the SWR and my Pearce/QSC PLX2402 rack make these little boxes come alive. I haven't gigged with them yet, but their low end is similar to my EV TL606 cab (EVM15B). The homebrew EV cabinet sounds great and I would expect the Avatars to as well. I'm a classic thumpy style bassist and don't slap. The absense of a tweeter could limit their appeal for those looking for "modern" bass tone. My rating is based on the fact that it's not a do-all cabinet. For my style it's nearly a 10.

I've only had the cabs a week but would expect that they would be rugged. A small, strong, six sided 3/4 in. plywood box with dado construction. With a top quality 400 watt Eminence Kappa speaker there isn't much to go wrong. The weakest link I suppose is the fact that the speaker is secured with drywall screws rather than machine screws and T nuts. An easy upgrade if I decide that it's really necessary.

Dave is a great guy to deal with!!! I spoke with him about upgrading the cabinets to a full grille (rather than the round speaker grille) and it was no problem. One of my pair had some damage to the carpet and Dave took great care of me without hesitation. He personally answers the phone or calls you right back if the answering machine gets you first...which is rare. Avatar is a small company (Dave and two employees I believe) and he's very busy, but he makes you feel like you're the only one that needs his attention at the moment. In today's world, he deserves higher than 10.

I really enjoy these cabinets. I just ordered one of Avatar's upcoming B112s with a Kappa 12 and Fostex tweeter to enhance the high end should the need arise. If I blow the Eminence Kappa, I'd have it reconed but as economically priced as these cabinets are I would consider buying a replacement. Avatar cabinets are a great value!!!
