I purchased one cab in the summer of 2006 from the website via email ($249 + $29 shipping). It has the Eminence NEO 12" speaker (8 ohm), Foster compression horn tweeter with full range attenuator, 250 watts power handling, two 1/4" speaker jacks, 1 speakon jack, and weighs 39 lbs. I love the huge low end you can get from 15" speakers, but the cabs were just too big for me and I hated carrying mine. I love this thing, because I can carry it with one hand.

My rig consists of a Tech 21 Landmark 300 pumping 300 watts into two SB112 NEO cabs (I loved the original one so much I just bought another). My signal chain looks like this: '98 Fender American P-bass (passive pickup) >>> Loooper Signal router (has an effects loop and a tuner out) >>> Tech 21 SansAmp Programmable Bass DI >>> Bass Amp. I play in a loud rock band with two guitars and a crazy drummer, as well as at church on Sunday mornings. This cab has great versatility: it can go from grindy and growly to smooth and old school. I would say, though, that it's home sound is a growly rock 'n' roll sound, with great lows, quality mids, and as much or as little high end as you want. The tweeter is really smooth, but I prefer to have it all the way off as it sounds better that way when I kick on the EH Big Muff Pi for some killer distortion. I've compared this cab with what I consider the only other great 112 cab out there (the Aguilar GS112) and this one sounds just as good for a lot less money. (Keep in mind that there are a lot of boutique cabs that I've never had the chance to play, but they are also quite expensive, and I'd likely never be able to afford them.)

Check out the construction method at AvatarSpeakers.com. These things are built like tanks. I've not had them long enough to speak to their long-term quality, but it sure seems like it will last.

I have not needed any repairs. I've only called them once, and I received courteous, prompt help. Dave is super when it comes to email. I placed my most recent order on a Sunday and received a reply that same day! What other businesses do know of that check their email on the weekend?

I've been playing bass for about 6 years. If these were stolen, I'd definately buy more. I love the light weight and the great sound. On a more superficial note, I think they're attractive looking cabinets. And the price...it just can't be beat.

Bought it in 2004 from www.avatarspeakers.com. and ordered on the phone. it has a H/D Eminence DELTA 12 LF bass speaker 500 RMS Watts, 56 ounce magnet, 2.5" high temp vented coil. 3/4" voidless Baltic Birch P/W, black carpet, protective corners, nice handles, steel grill.rear steel input SPEAKON and dual 1/4" i/o jacks adjustable tweeter. (dial this sucker down or it will cut your ears off) Front ported 8 ohm. build like a tank and nice workmanship. cost vs bang for the buck can NOT be overstated - it's VERY hard NOT to give this a "Superficial, glowing review..." - it's just that DAMN good. i give it a 9 'cause i haven't played every cab out there - there MIGHT be one better. (prbly not!)

OMFG - this cab, like all Avatars, kicks major ASS - i use it with the 2X10 (also 8 ohms) Avatar cab (so i'm pushin' these a 4 ohms)and these are the best freakin' cabs i have ever played thru, leaves ALL the other hi dollar boutique cabs at the starting line - i'm mostly an old Blues player but i like to slap my Fender P/Bass and J/Bass plus my Carvin 5 wire thru these babies too! - i play for FLAMIN' HARRY AND THE ROADHOUSE ROCKERS!(www.flaminharry.com)and we play damn loud! Avatar cabs have no problem with that. it has Punch, smothness and plenty of low end (my low B comes thru just fine)and the horn will add so much high end (if you like) that most player (like me) only turn it on 1/4 of the way (9:00 setting)

again - build like Saddam's private bunker!! - to quote the site "The cab is made from 3/4 inch voidless Baltic Birch plywood with rabbet and dado interlocking side joints for extreme strength. The enclosure is covered in black carpet, has protective corners, large recessed bar handles." - and they ain't liyin' - i'm not easy on things - i play out two three times a week and throw this cab around a lot - it can take it, but the inside of my SUV looks rough.

when you call - you will get the owner more times than not - they talked me out of the 1X15(which cost more) and into the 1X12 to go with the 2X10 cab - and told me "hey, try it out and turn those suckers up and see how you like it - if you want the 1X15 - just send back the 1X12" you can't beat that - they are very accesable.

this company is the quiet, secret killer-cab maker for us working Bass players - you will not be disapointed by their products or customer support! read more info about these cabs at www.uglybassplayer.com - a lot of cats on that site are using them.

I've been playing for nearly 20 yrs. and have had lots of gear. Avatar is TOPS for the money. Better construction quality than my former SWR Workingmans' cabs! I would buy again if lost or stolen.

This cabinet has an Eminence Delta LF 12" bass speaker and a Foster compression horn mounted in a front-ported cabinet. There is a potentiometer on the back panel to adjust the volume of the horn, which can be turned off completely. The cabinet is covered in black carpet, has protective corners and large carry handles on the sides. The diamond-pattern black steel grill is shock-mounted away from the surface of the speaker. It weighs only 45 pounds, making it easy to carry.

I am using the cabinet with an Ibanez SR400 bass (passive pickups and active circuitry) and a Behringer BX3000T 300 watt (at 4 ohms) head. Since my SB112 is rated at 8 ohms impedance, I guess I am pushing about 200 watts. I play without a pick, but still want to hear both bass and brightness in my notes. The SB112 handles this well. The 12? Eminence is tighter on the bottom end than most 15? speakers I have played, but does not discernibly sacrifice any low frequencies, including sub-frequencies (produced by the BX3000T [largely useless] Ultrabass function). Since the BX3000T produces a lot of hiss on the high end, I have to be careful with how I use the horn. Turning it up accentuates that hiss. However, I am quite amazed with the horn. I have played bass cabinets with horns that just did not belong there, but this one does. It allows me to turn the treble on my amp down, crank up the bass control, and still get a very articulate sound.

I have had this cabinet for about two weeks now and have played it each day. I have pushed it as hard as 200 watts will push (which is loud enough to have a policeman come by and ask that I please ?tone? it down some), and it has exhibited no rattles or buzzes. Having played rock and roll for a living for more than a decade, I have seen a lot of equipment. In my humble opinion, this cabinet is a very roadworthy box.

I have spoken with the owner, Dave, on the phone three times and he has always been polite and helpful. I have emailed him several times and he always responds. Some of his email responses are not as detailed as I would like, but I am sure that Dave is a very busy man. While I want to draw Dave into long dialog over speaker surface versus air movement, roll off characteristics, and cabinet comparison discussion, etc., he wants to build cabinets. Go figure! Seriously though, Dave was very helpful when I inadvertently got charged more that I agreed to pay on Ebay. He followed up with email and even phoned my home and left a message for me. Now that is service.

If this cabinet were stolen, I would order another in a heartbeat. In fact, as soon as I determine how to break it to my better half, I will order a nice B210 Neo to sit atop my SB112. In looking at Eden, SWR, Fender and Ampeg cabinets, none sound better, they just cost more. As said previously, I spent more than a decade playing rock and roll for a living (such as it was). During that time I saw, owned and played a lot of equipment. In those days, my Sunn speaker cabinets formed a wall behind me (causing me to loose a lot of fillings). Those cabinets were big, heavy and hard to move, and when the roadies were not around, I had to move them. Back then I could only dream of small bass cabinets sounding as good as this SB112 does, and thought I would have to pay a fortune for such. Thanks to Avatar, none of us now do. Best of all, when I really thump the E string hard, the SB112 will growl (and that's good). If I want to caress a string, it has an amazingly sweet voice. This cabinet is incredible! Dave, where were you when I played rock and roll for a living?

2004 model. I play 5 string basses and I use this in conjunction with an Avatar B210 cab. I got this cab ainly because I wanted to downsize while not sacrificing too much. This cab is extremely lightweight and I literally can carry it with one hand. It has the standard Avatar jack panel in the rear. 2 1/4" inputs and 1 speakon input. It also has the tweeter attentuator. Other than the rat fur, it's a very nice cabinet.

I didn't lose much in bass output by downsizing from a 1x15 cab. I play 5 string bass and the low B projects nicely. It can handle 500 watts.
