15" Eminence driver, 300 watts @ 8 ohms, horn, recessed handles, 3 ports on the front. The power rating seems pretty conservative but I'm used to Peaveys and Crates which never fail to underwhelm.

Sound Quality : 9
Compared to the Ampeg SVT115 cabinet I tried next to it with the same SVT3-Pro head, the Basson had WAY more low-end and a LOT more definition. The Ampeg had the standard Ampeg sound but was $100 more, it wasn't half as loud, and seemed puny and weak compared to the Basson. The Basson was dead-quiet when I wasn't playing through it and put out a LOT of sound. After buying it, I found out it's great for overdriven bass sounds for rock and metal.

Reliability : 10
I haven't had any problems and couldn't see it breaking anytime in the next century. You could always overpower it with some 1000 watt monster of an amp, but that would be your fault now wouldn't it?

Customer Support : 10
The customer support had more of an effect on my decision over the Ampeg than even the sound did. Shawn always had a response within a few hours for every question I had. Ampeg took a few days and was always pretty generic. I asked if I could get a cover for the 1x15" and Ampeg told me to check out their website...Shawn at Basson, on the other hand, gave me prices and pretty much sealed the deal.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall I'd recommend this for all things rock and metal. You can't beat a 2x10 or 4x10 on top of a solid 1x15 putting out more low end than you'll ever need. It's big and heavy but well worth the few extra pounds. It does look pretty impressive on stage as well.

Pretty basic. Wish it had a horn level control and casters. It's HUGE!

Sound Quality : 7
Not too bad. It's very tight for a single 15". Fairly loud for a single 15" but I need another cabinet to be heard over a Mesa half-stack. Not sure about other reviewers but I think it's lacking in depth and bottom end. It's kind of reversed from common logic - 10" speakers are better for the higher range, 15" speakers are better for the lower range. Seems like this cabinet smooths out the upper frequencies but definitely has a thick mid-range emphasis.

Reliability : 10
Absolutely solid construction.

Customer Support : 10
Some of the best out there!

Overall Rating : 7
Great cabinet for the price but I think next time I'd try one Basson's 2x10 or 4x10 speakers to see how that sounds. This cabinet lacks a few things necessary for playing in a band that moves a LOT of air.

Same as previous reviewers have said - 8 ohms, 300watts RMS, 1x15" Eminence driver, and absolutely solid construction. I got the grey grille option for more of a classic vibe. It looks absolutely sweet. It's the largest single 15" I've ever seen. Not much of a problem for me cuz I'm a good 6'5 and weigh 260 lbs, but still I wish it came with casters (which is why I'm docking it a few points).

Custom Fender Jazz to a Tech 21 Tri-AC preamp into power-amp input of SWR Workingman's 4004 into this cab. The EQ's on the SWR got messed up from the previous owner dropping it I guess, so I started using the Tech 21 as a preamp and the SWR as just a power amp. Works great!

The Basson cab is a lot louder than you would think from just a single 15. I had some really nice Mesa gear and this speaker cabinet I'd say projects the same volume as the 4x10 but with more low end to it. The 4x10 was almost all mids. This 15" is very defined and meaty and adds a TON of depth to your sound. It does distort a bit with the gain and bass turned up hitting a F in dropped D tuning, but that's fairly common.

I play all kinds of 90's rock and metal (Pantera, Alice in Chains, Primus, Tool) and some contemporary country. This cabinet suits my needs and was priced just right too.

Reliability : 9
I've owned it for a day so I can't really comment on this in depth, but it's built pretty solid and I'd trust it to take a beating, so that's what this rating is based on.

Haven't dealt with them and hopefully won't need to.

I've played for over a decade and been through a lot of equipment. Pretty much just a huge waste of money. I'm glad I bought this speaker because it was really cheap for a really good product. Compared to an Ampeg 1x15 and a Mesa 1x15 I've played through, this cab is much better. Compared to the Mesa 4x10 I had, it's slightly better. I love the appearance and sounds I can get from it but I really wish it had casters. There's always better equipment out there but not for this price. As a previous reviewer suggested, I'd like to get a second 15" or possibly a 2x10" before they get more expensive.

WOW! 1X15, 300 watts @ 8 ohms, front ported. Size is on the large side for a 1X15 cab ( but I like that ), easily handeled though with what seem to be "aircraft" steel side mounted recessed handles. Old school style black nylon mesh grill with white piping and chrome logo give it an almost 'new vintage' vibe, sort of on the old Ampeg/ Marshall order. Perfect look for the blusey/punky hard rock that we do. Covered in black ozite carpet material as most of the other high end cabs ( doesn't anyone use Tolex anymore? ). Really nice looking however. Great craftsmanship.

Sound Quality : 10
There are not enough cool adjectives to extoll the virtues of the sound of this cab ( I have not used it in a live setting yet, but forsee absolutely no problems! ), though LOUD, clear, thunderous and crunching seem like a good place to start. Can't wait to pick-up another cab from them, probably a 4X10! I use a straight up stock Fender 51' P Bass reissue and a Fender Jazz through it, and I have not heard a cab yet that can capture the pure tone of the '51, until now! Nice deep and round tone. Do yourselves a favor and buy one ( or two, or...), before Basson becomes as famous as the 'big boys' and charges double what they cost now!

Reliability : No Opinion
Have not had the cab long enough to truely evaluate the reliabilty factor, but I can tell you that it is built like a freakin' tank and should be able to handle all the use ( and abuse! ) that I can throw at it. As stated in another review, I also believe that if something were to go wrong with it, the fine folks at Basson will be more than happy to help.

Customer Support : 10
A shining example of how to run a business! Answered all my questions on the phone ( when ya' call them, a real human voice answeres the phone, amazing! ), and took lots of their time to make me feel right at home with their products. I really can't say enough good things about this aspect of the company. Try getting this kind of customer service from SWR or Ampeg, I dare ya'! Thanks a million Shawn...and Victor too. BTW, lots of cool schwag came with the cab too ( Tee shirt, stickers...)

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing professionally for 15 odd years. Have owned more gear than I care to remember. If it were lost, first I'd cry, and then get immediately on the horn to Basson and buy another. If it were stolen, I'd find the guy that did it and beat it back out of him, take his money too, and then buy two more Basson cabs! All I can say is if you use SWR, Ampeg or any of the other big name guys out there and you are looking for a superior product with better pricing and REAL customer service, do youself a favor ( you'll thank me for it! ) and go get yourself a Basson cab, check it out and you'll be a convert too....And NO, they didn't pay me to write this!!!!

Single 300 watt 8 ohm 15" speaker with a horn and bottom ported. Bought new in August 2003 on Ebay. Very solid and well made cabinet with great low end. Black carpet covered with good steel handles. Nice chrome logo badge and white piping around the grill cloth. Looks very impressive unlike other inexpensive cabinets out there. Weighs 77 pounds but is manageable. I play classic rock and this cab has all the thump I would ever need. I power it with an Ampeg SVT-400T and it will handle every thing I throw at it. It stays tight even on the low E as well as every place else on the neck

Sound Quality : 9
I play several basses through it which include a Gibson Thunderbird, Gibson SG-Z, custom Jazz with Bartolini's, Ibanez Musician, and a Danelectro DC. It sounds incredible with them all. It really brings out the growl of the Thunderbird and handles the deep tones from the Dano without a loose of clarity anywhere. We are a guitar driven classic rock band which demands solid lows and this cab shines even at our loud volume levels. The only issues I have is that I wish it were available in 4 ohms and that it had an adjustment for the horn level.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's still new but the way it is built I don't anticipate any problems. And if I do I am sure that the folks at Basson would do whatever they could to handle it quickly. It carries a 5 year warranty.

Customer Support : 10
Basson Sound is incredible. Shawn is very customer oriented and answered all of my questions almost immediately. (E-mail)He also called me to ask if I had anymore questions and to close the deal. They threw in a tee shirt and stickers and a nice info packet as well. He even called me after I received the cab and asked how I liked it. These guys are GREAT! It did take a couple of weeks to get it but they build them to order. But it was worth the wait.

Overall Rating : 10
I can't say enough about the quality of this product and the fine customer support. I have been playing for over 30 years and have other cabinets including an Ampeg and the Basson Sound will stand up to the others hands down. And what a deal...$240 for a solid 300 watt 15" cabinet. Don't waist your money on the others. Give this gear a try. You will not be disappointed!
