Purchased in 2008, 1000W at 8ohms, 4 10" woofers with a 200 oz magnet behind each, high frequency horn, dual Speakon inputs, black carpet, cloth grill, plastic stackable corners, heavy duty wheels, rated to handle frequencies to 28 Hz.

I've used quite a few basses with this cabinet, passive Jazz basses, active Jazz basses, Rics, 7-string sub-contra. This cabinet can handle them all and they sound great. I also ran my laptop into this cabinet to play music as well as some seriously low frequency recordings. This cabinet can handle less than 13 Hz. I don't think anyone who I had listen to that note could truly hear it, but we all could feel it, one guy said it felt like something was crawling in his ear. And 15Hz sounded like a shotgun. The horn is also incredible, I heard guitar tones that I've never heard before from Ozzy songs like I Don't Know, and playing a Strat through the cabinet sounded awesome as well. I'm using at Ampeg SVT-4PRO. It often wanted to clip low frequencies, but I think the cabinet would have had no problem. Basson really needs to make a head for this cabinet.

Based on the fact that this cabinet has bigger magnets and is rated to handle frequencies lower than any other 410, I'd say it's pretty reliable. I never had a problem with it, but I never turned it up anywhere close to the maximum, I could probably wake up half the town with this thing. It's solid at 148 lbs, I don't see how any other 410 would outlast it.

Before I bought this cabinet I sent Basson an E-mail asking about a cabinet that could handle sub-contra bass. Later that day, Victor Basson called me out of the blue and spent quite a while talking to me. I also saw them at the 2009 Winter NAMM and got to check out the B410B hooked up to their prototype preamp (they need to get that integrated into a head and make it available). Anyway, I don't know of too many companies where the owner will call you personally and spend time answering all your questions before you've spent a dime with his company when you aren't anybody famous.

I've only been playing bass for a little over 3 years, but started playing guitar back in 1988. I have a Phil Jone Flightcase for a portible combo amp. I used to have a GK before I purchased the Basson. I have owned Fender P and J basses, Rics, Fernandes Gravity 5 Deluxe(Metallica bass), and a Conklin GTBD 7-string. If it were lost or stolen, and I needed such a big amp (I don't even play in a band), I would get another one, I definitely wouldn't get anything else, it blows away more expensive 410s (I tried a lot of high end stuff at NAMM). The only problem with this combo is that it needs serious power, it's more powerful than many 810s. The Ampeg SVT-4PRO was about the only thing I could find to really cut it, and as I said I think the SVT-4PRO limits the Basson B410B. That being said, Basson really needs to come out with a head made for this cabinet.

No degree here either, but I know tones and rhythm! This speaker was purchased new in 2007 but not by me. Comes with a central located high frequency driver that can be literally switched off (at the switch on the speakers left side), 4 heavy duty 10" woofers and 2 neutrik speaker connects (including pass-through). It's covered in black carpet, a cloth grill, plastic stackable corners and HEAVY DUTY WHEELS! I'd give it a 10 but I wouldn't mind dialing in the horn instead of switching it on or off.
Personally, I play a variety of music, but I'm currently in a hard-alternative rock band.

In my current band, I'm playing through two basses. An American Standard Fender Jazz V w/ the PBass mod (tuned GCGCF) and an 80's Carvin koa wood bass with Alembic pickups and EMG electronics (for standard & 1/2-step tunings). From there (via cable or shure wireless) into a planet waves tuner > Hughes & Kettner Tubefactor Distortion > Alembic F-1X preamp - EFX LOOP > Zoom 506 > Digitech Multi Chorus - > Crest LT2000 power amp.
The sound of this speaker is far superior to what I had been using, a Mega Goliath 8x10 (which was also purchased used). When I first plugged my amp into this speaker . . . I heard what I wanted! Plenty of body, punch and clarity!

Well, one of my guitarists has already put it to the test . . . when we were unloading, he decided to play he-man and take it out of the van himself. At 150 pounds, I could do it, but I prefer help! So . . . he put it down with a wheel on his foot and it fell straight forward on to its face. We picked it up and it was still intact, only minor scratches to the corners. Got it inside, plugged it in and it worked like a champ! Needless to say, there will be no solo loading or unloading of it anymore!

I've been in touch with basson before and after I purchased the speaker. Very good people. I just wish the warranty was transferable!! 5 year warranty with not even 2 used up. Such a shame. But, the guys at basson are very easy to talk to. I'd give them a MUCH higher rating if it wasn't for the warranty issue. On the upside, I don't think I'll run into any problems with this speaker as it's built like a tank!

I've been playing on and off for 20 years with about 16 years of active playing. I also own a Peavey ProBass 1000 preamp paired with a Mackie 1400i power amp. In my time I've gone through many different amps and speakers. Before buying the B410B, my favorite speaker was a pre-fender SWR Henry the 8x8.
If I had to, I'd buy another B410B for sure! It's given me the tone Iw as after!
The only downside is the weight, but it's not a big deal.
For the price I paid, I could not turn it down. I was looking at Ampeg and David Eden speakers. Because of my power amp, the high wattage handling of this speaker was a requirement.

Firstly a disclaimer; let me say that unlike the previous reviewer, I don't have a college degree in music that proves I know what I'm talking about. I only have over 25 years of real world, in the trenches experience playing in real bands, not study hall. So feel free to disregard anything I say here since I can't produce a piece of paper extolling my bass godliness. Ok, onto my review.
I currently use this cabinet in a heavy metal band that uses drop C tuning. I play a 5 string Stingray tuned ACGCF and power the cabinet with a QSC 3002 power amp in bridged mode (2000 watts) and a Bass Pod XT Live as my pre. This cabinet handles the ultra low tuning and immense amount of power beautifully.
The cabinet is rated at 1000 watts. The headroom that the QSC amp provides allows for an unreal amount of volume and brute force without a hint of distortion unless I purposely dial it in with my preamp.
Other features: It has a black carpet covering which seems durable enough and well placed handles. It has a high frequency horn which to me seems totally unnecessary and would probably blow at the power level I'm giving the cabinet so I leave it switched off. One other nice feature is the dual Speakon inputs. No lightweight 1/4" jacks, which should be illegal for use on speaker cabinets anyway.
The last comment I have on features is regarding the grille. I would prefer to have something that would offer more protection for the speakers. Perhaps reinforcing the cloth with a wire mesh or something similar. That is the only reason it's not getting a 10 rating.

The sound is truly huge, deep and full but you HAVE to give it a LOT of power. There is no way around it, the speakers used, which I believe are a custom Eminence 10, are just very inefficient, probably due to the huge 200 ounce magnets used.
I first tried it with my GK 700RBII head which is 320 watts into 8 ohms. Ha!, not even close. That is when I decided to try the QSC amp. That is what it needed. Although a PLX2402 or similar is probably more than enough power and is what I would recommend. I already owned the 3002.
Do not buy this cabinet if you are going to try and skimp on the power requirements. You WILL be disappointed. At a minimum follow the Basson recommendation for power.

This cabinet is a beast of a 4x10. At 148 pounds and larger than most 4x10 cabinets I've used or seen, this is not a cabinet to buy if you need easy transport. The supplied, removable casters are high quality and do make it easy to roll around and position on stage but unless Basson offers a rocket powered caster option (which I didn't see listed on their site) they are not going to help you get it in your vehicle. You need a trailer you can roll it into or a second person to aid in the lifting if you hope to avoid "herniating yoseff".
I would not expect to need a backup but I am purchasing a second B410B to complete my rig.
It has not given me any trouble nor has it needed any service to this point.

The cabinet comes with a 5 year warranty but I have not had to contact Basson. Considering the glowing reviews their customer support has received from others I would expect a good experience. I won't rate this though since I have no first hand experience.

As I stated above I have been playing for 25+ years.
My main bass is a Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 tuned ACGCF.
If this cabinet was stolen I would definitely replace it with the same cabinet. The only real downside to this unit is it's weight.
As far as 4x10's go I have yet to play through one that can touch the Basson. I have owned Ampeg and GK 4x10s as well as having played though numerous other backline rigs provided for various gigs and this is the only one I would consider owning at this time for the style of music I am playing (heavy rock).
I've had the opportunity several times to play through an SVT8x10 and in my opinion this 4x10 blows the venerable Ampeg away.

This cabinet has all the features I find necessary in a bass cabinet. It has 4 removable very heavy duty casters that make moving the cabinet a breeze. Being able to remove them also ensures that it does not tip over if the cab gets top heavy due to large rack systems being placed on top of it. . .
Also the cab has a switch to activate a tweeter which has a dramatic effect. The high end of your bass really comes out with the tweeter on.

Basson's 4 x 10 cabinet has the best sound quality of any bass stack/combo I have played in my 6 years of bass playing. This cabinet kind of has a 'growl' to it when playing at high volumes, which is great for my music style (metal). The cab can also put out crystal clear, smooth tones as well for any time the song has to be toned down a little.

Have only had this cab for close to a year and it has never broken down. It is my only cab at the moment so I don't really have a choice whether or not to use it, but it has never let me down.

I have been playing bass for 6 years and am a 'professional' musician, as in I have a college degree saying I know what I am talking about considering music. I own and Ibanez BTB bass, Custom made Fretless bass, Ibanez Soundgear 4 string, and an old Double Bass. For an amp I have custom assemble rack system.
If my Basson 410 was every stolen or lost I would definately buy it again, although I would opt for the 810 if I could afford it, and pair it up with a couple 1 x 15's.

My B410B is a 2006 model. It has the obligatory (4) 10" woofers, and a switchable (on/off) horn. It is a moster of a 4x10, standing around 3.5 feet tall with the casters, and weighing in at about 140lbs. The weight, although very noticeable when lifting it in and out of the back seat of my car, is pleasantly hidden by the exceptional 3" ball bearing casters. Which, by the way, slide out horizontally rather than vertically, eliminating the need to lay the cabinet on it's side for removal. Another benefit of the casters is that you needn't ever worry about old, loose casters falling out, because they really can't.
I am giving it a 9/10 due to it's weight, but when I get some roadies and another 4x10, I'll write another review in which weight won't be an issue.

I play with an MTD 5-string, a GK 2001RBP, and Crown XTi1000 power amp. What can I say, it sounds like the body of my bass is literally inside my head. It faithfully reproduces absolutely everything I give it. If I had to say anything negative about the sound quality, I might mention the strange high pitched (borderline squeal) feedback I get if I get too close to it, but in reality I don't know that is the fault of the cabinet. Probably not.

As much as I'd like to give it a great reliability rating, I haven't owned it very long and have only used it a few times. Honestly, I don't think I could break it if I tried. The only thing I know to be an issue is that if the speakers are significantly underpowered, they will blow. The guys at Basson will tell you though, as will their website, that these cabinets REQUIRE high power, so I wouldn't really consider that a reliability issue. Sort of like being bitten by a rattlesnake; if you hear the rattle and you still get bit, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I have been bass in bands for only about 5 years now, but believe me when I tell you how much I love this thing. Seriously, I don't know what these guys have going on with those speakers, but I honestly don't think I've heard a more detailed, clear, and BRUTALLY LOUD 4x10 ever. Yes, all the way down to 28Hz. Oh yeah, and running 1,100 watts @8ohms, it rattles f*&^%ng tacks out of the wall of my practice studio! I honestly picked three posters up off the floor after I finished my first session with the new cab. Simply amazing.

i run a pair of these monsters with a rocktron blue thunder preamp, bbe 482I, aphex 204, sansamp rbi and an svt 4 pro. for the money there is no cabinet that can reproduce true back breaking bass tones like this can. my guitar player complains because after band practice his calf muscles are sore from the low end force. i use jackson basses with bartolini electronics and kahler bridges.

4x10" speakers & horn with on/off. Seemingly oversized cabinet which makes for sweet bass response and a smooth midrange when combined with the huge magnets on each speaker. Simple concept that most audio guys learn their first year in school but seem to forget when they go to work for a large company. The cab handles 1000 watts and covers a greater range than other cabinets which is always good. I do feel sorry for small guys and pussies who can't lift much because it's huge, but that's what wheels were invented for.

Absolutely amazing tone. Has lots of headroom so you're not getting any bad distortion where the speakers are bottoming out. Handles a HEAVILY overdriven Ampeg pre/Mackie power amp set-up with ease. Play a Warmoth Explorer bass, a Fender Jazz and a Fender P-bass through it - all have Duncan pickups. Suits my style of southern metal perfectly!
As far as variety goes, I don't play much else besides blues, rock, and metal and it excels at all 3 of those.

Last cabinet I hope to buy. I've only been able to try out Ampeg, Mesa, and SWR Workingman cabinets and so far this is my favorite. Is there better? Nothing better but stuff that might be as good. Nothing in this price range though and I just don't have thousands of dollars to spend on Glockenklang and other high end stuff.
Anything I wish it had? Not really. Solid construction, high power rating, good tone, and WHEELS. I'd say it has everything I need.

The cabinet was made 2-3 years ago in the middle of my tour with Halford. I'm a true rock bass player (McCartney, Butler, Daisley, etc.), and to have the room (low/high end) to roam, is a dream come true. I've used Mesa/Ampeg cabs my whole life and to have the power and durability of the Basson cab in my back pocket, is essential to my travels.

Since I'm on the road quite a bit, normal 'wear and tear' will happen. Since I'm not too concerned with aesthetics, as long as the speakers are in tact and function properly, I'm very happy. As I said before, I've used Mesa for a tour and it was a question of how many speakers I'd blow a night, rather than if I'd blow any. With Basson, I don't have to worry about that.

I'm playing two B410B cabs.I play hard stuff and dig the switchable horn alot(I don't switch it off though).I was using a bi-amp system with a sub and 2-10's on each side of the stage and now I use a 4-10 on each side .These cabs have a better low response than I've come across , even after building my own for that need, and the highs I get with the horn let me cut through the heavy distortion without having to increase volume unnecessarily. At 1000 watts rms and 2000 watts peak these 4-10's surpass the most poular 8-10's(trace,ampeg,SWR, etc.)but they are probably just as heavy too! and that could be a problem for some sissies .They stay as clean as you want them to. I send dist. and many other effects through mine in addition to my clean patches and don't get anything I don't want. It's like these cats re-invented the wheel .Lookfor these cabs!

Before I even start, I just want to make it known that this is a somewhat biased opinion. I'm endorsed by Basson Sound, but I just wanted to let you guys know what a great cabinet this is & that before you try the others, you have to give Basson a shot. The cab is a straight forward 4x10 bass cab with a piezo tweeter (switchable to on or off by a handy switch on the side, not the back). What I love about it is that it handles a BOOOOMMMMIIIINNNGGGG 1000 watts rms. I run an Eden WT-600 Hybrid bass amp through it & it sounds phenominal.

I just got back from there office (only 14 miles away, another thing I love) & Shawn, Victor & the hard working boys of Basson hooked me up. Some of the cawlking around my speakers had come loose & I did manage to blow one speaker because of it. I called Shawn & he told me to bring it down, which I did. Ready for this. I bring my bass also & they have me plug in to one of there GK 1001RB heads. I start strumming away (pick player, I know I know) & bamm, there is the noise. Great, i'm not losing my mind. Oh, I forgot to say, Shawn, Victor (the president of Basson) & there two cab builders are all there listening, with ohm meters hooked up & everything. They figured out the problem & I will be picking my cab up tomorrow. Harmony Central should have 11's for this kind of customer service, cause I didn't expect this kind of treatment, even though i'm endorsed.
