Amp is bought brand new in 2008
The amp is very versatile, and can handle any style of playing with ease. Considering the sheer power handling this thing can produce, its best used for heavy styles of music, or anything that can require LOUD volumes, however it is very well voiced and responsive to any technique or style of bass playing. Features are plain and simple. No horns or tweeters. Just 2 speakon outs in the back and 8 very heavy duty speakers. The response from the speakers alone defeat the purpose of having any kind of switchable horn or tweeter. Laughably this cab easily has enough power for me! If you want REAL thunder this thing will produce it!! I should mention that it is very heavy, about 230 pounds! But it does come with the 2 side handles, a durable grab bar and skid rails on the back so if your smart, it is relatively easy to maneuver. If you plan to carry it up a flight of stairs please do it with with someone or you will probably be crushed. Other than that its really not that bad.

This thing is worth its weight in GOLD!! I use a custom 6 string bass and fender 4 string jazz. I play through an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro head with some effects. I am predominantly a finger style player though I do slap when I need to. I like to have a lot lows and mids when I play to bring out definition from my attack, and so I can cut through the band. The cab has no problem responding to every sonic nuance you through at it. I have experimented with softer styles and techniques which involve chording and harmonics and the cab still is very transparent and responds very well. You would be surprised how versatile it is for being just 8 speakers in box basically. You will get no saturation or muddiness from this cab period, no matter how low you tune to. That will all depend on the bass your playing. The speakers are very powerful, and are made to withstand extreme volume. I've played about 4 or 5 gigs with this cab so far and the thing has performed brilliantly! I recommend it to anybody who plays in a loud band and is need of headroom, tone, and professional quality craftsmanship.

This cab is very very sturdy and is sealed and voiced perfectly for what I am doing. You get amazing punch and response due to the great build of the cab. Its heavy duty for sure and can easily handle the riggors of any tour. Most of the weight comes from the 200oz speakers, but the extra thickness of the wood and the height of the cab itself factor into that as well. This cab is THE largest stand alone bass cab i've seen available! Taller than an SVT 810 and thicker and heavier as well. I should also mention that there is bottom porting on this cab which gives it the extra height. I'm 6' 1' and this thing is almost my height. So far it not even come close to breaking down, or failing on me. You must use and high powered bass head that can run at least 800watts at 4ohms. Otherwise you will damage the speaker coils by sending to much distorted current to the cab. Other than that you will be fine.

Sean at basson sound has been great. I haven't had to deal with basson for any issues, but speaking to him through email and phone has been progressive. They all are very kind and helpful people and are willing to make sure you get taken care of. The cab comes with a standard 5 year warranty, and usually depending on where you by it from you can get an extended warranty as well. I ordered mine through musicians friend, but you can also order them at sam ash and guitar center. I believe some sam ash stores actually have them in stock so depending on where you live you may be able to go try one out.

I have been playing bass for over 10 years now, and have been playing bass professionally for about 3 years. I also own several guitars and amps, and do some tracking and studio work whenever I can as well. Its hard to think that anybody would be able to actually STEAL this whale of an item, let alone in any kind of covert or quick fashion without me noticing them doing it in the process. But if it did get stolen I would save and buy a new one in a heart beat. The only con to this cab is the obvious weight. If you are in the market for an 810 cab in the first place, you should be able to put aside the factor of weight anyway. All 810s are indeed heavy. This cab is the heaviest, but in my opinion sounds better and fuller than all the rest. The pros are like I said before but to sum it up in single words. TONE and POWER!! A fantastic value for what you are getting.

This amp was made in the year 2005. Its' ability to handle any type of playing I throw at it is truly impressive...and with the right amp to shape the tone, any style of music would be very compatible.
I use this amp both live and in the studio. I never imagined an amp could put out this much power. It is something like 2000 watts at 4ohms, and since I run it constantly at 1600 watts with my Ampeg SVT-4 Pro, I get the sound I've always wanted out of a bass setup.

I'm using a Musicman Stingray 4 with passive pickups. I play rock and roll....ranging from the heavy stuff to the melodic power ballads; this amp does it all!

I feel very comfortable with my Basson amp and would play a gig any day of the week without a backup. It has been nothing but reliable thus far, but with the quality of the construction and the friendliness and reliability of the Basson Sound staff, I feel right at home.

I've been playing bass for 4 years now, and I've test driven all the stacks....from Ampeg, to GK, to SWR to Eden, and without any ego at all, Basson takes the cake. It is a very responsive cab and the low end rumbles my entire house. I wouldn't trade it for anything else, as Basson has given me a new outlook on what quality tone really is.
It has my seal of approval, it has Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue's seal of approval, and I hope that one day soon, you'll be bragging to your friends how Basson makes their Ampeg cab look like a childs toy!!!!
