Bought this direct form the company for the artist program in 2009 for $800. 8 speakers with neoprine surrounds. The cabinet is loaded with Chinese caraudio speakers. They say 200oz magnets but when I got a replacement the whole thing was that much includeing the frame voice coil and cone. they didn't list in in their specs. OK for rock but not for funk or anything that needs details in the sound.

Used with a Schecter 5-string, Rotosounds, QSC amp, RBI preamp. The speakers are boomy in the fiberboard cabinet. Not as loud but boomy. Recommend a biamp with a 2x10 and horn to avoid sounding like you have flatwounds. They have wrong specs online. I also read that there was supposed to be Mogamei cable inside, the stuff inside was thin and poorly attached to speakers.
Reliability
:5
I wouldn't take it on the road. Too heavy and particle board makes a accident waiting to happen. Cheezy components including parts from Home Depot or Lowes.

There are no smart people there. None of the employees who knew anything are there anymore. I talked to 2 Shawns there at different times. Both were cool. guys who answered last are tards. They say 5year warranty but those speakers are just resent from Firestorm FS1075 (they make their model nubmer BS1075 Stoopid!) It is cheaper to buy a new speaker at a car audio palce than to ship one back for replacement.

with chinese speakers and fiberboards, this is way overpirced at the $800 "artist price" that I got because I had a myspace page with my old band that had broken up. I took a long time to buy and regret it now. I heard a Fender that was louder and faster punch response and it was much less. Plus, the Fender is built well and doens't use heavy cardboard as the cabinet.

Hey all. This is a review for my 2008 BASSON B810B cab. The features are the same as all the other posts here; 8x10 speakers, HUGE magnets, carpet style covering, massive handrail on the back, wheels, plastic skid plates, 228 pounds (oy!). Truly monolithic, both in tone and presence.
I'm the bassist singer in a band called Girls Like Cigarettes out of NYC. We play a 90's style alt.rock (Husker Du, Radiohead, Pixies, Catherine Wheel, Nirvana) mixed with a smattering of other nerdy styles (Police, Rush, Peter Gabriel). We play large venues like Rams Head, Bowery Ballroom, etc. and regularly open up for nationals. I need significant stage volume, great tone, reliability, power handling, and something that looks badass. This cab is all that and more.
While -- based on the bigger endorsees -- the cabinet might outwardly seem to appeal to the more hard-rock, metal crowd, but I can say without hesitation that it is perfect for any style of music. If you want tone that kills, be it Reggae, Rock, Jazz, or Metal; this is the cabinet you start with.
Sound Quality

I'm running a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass/Lakland Darryl Jones Jazz/1989 Musicman Stingray into an ALEMBIC F1-X and ALEMBIC SF-2 into a 2500 watt Behringer Europower (soon to be upgraded, probably to Crown or Phil Jones Bass). In short, the tone on this thing is UNBELIEVABLE. There is little doubt that, whenever we play a gig, I'm going to have the best tone on the stage...unless of course somebody has another BASSON rig...HA! And this isn't me being a raging bass ego case. Two examples:
We're recording our debut album with John Seymour (U2, Dave Matthews, Santana, Alice in Chains, Santana, Mighty Mighty Bosstones) and, while recording rhythm tracks in WATER STUDIOS in Hoboken, all the assistant engineers were crowded around the cabinet stunned by the tone, volume, and how much bass it was putting out. You can't ask for a better testimonial than that: these guys have heard it all and from the biggest bands around.
Second example, everytime we play a gig where we're the headliner, we offer to use our gear as the backline; afterwards, every other bassist who played the rig comes up and asks me where to get BASSON because it's the best cabinet they've ever played through. I tell them to call direct to the company and order one. That, I believe, speaks for itself.
Anyway: for my critique of the sound quality, obviously I think it kills. You have to be careful about how much bass eq you're running into to it because the cab is producing it naturally; I run my ALEMBIC bass knob flat, MID at 10, and Treble at 7, and let the cab do the work. I basically get the pure sound of my basses through the B810B, which is exactly what I was looking for: massive *** (both aural and non-aural) with the geddy lee/lakland low and mid/mid-range growl, with a really smooth, glassy high-end sheen. The volume, on stage is freaking loud, but not overwhelming...when the bass frequencies travel out into the room however (since other bassists play my rig regularly, I get to hear it from the audience a lot), it's freaking M A S S I V E. Magnets that big produce big bass waves...
What I will say is this: make sure you've got enough power to run this thing if you want to truly maximize the cabinet's range. I'm running 2500 watts and think the cab could actually take a 3200watt poweramp to really push those gut-pounding lows. If I upgrade, I'll let you know.
In short, the thing really does take what you put into it and, save for the mega-bass it's pumping out, basically doesn't color your tone that much (a'la an Ampeg 810). An Ampeg SVT is going to sound like a really loud Ampeg; if you ran an SWR component system (say a Marcus Miller/Crown combo) you'd have a really Hi-Fi ultra-clear sounding rig. It really does complement whatever gear you're working with and makes it sound amazing.

The thing is 228 pounds and built like a tank. I can't imagine having any problems. I run 2500 watts into the thing, sometimes for 8 hours a night (if backlined) and it just looks at me like it's bored. In the studio, it got played longer than that and didn't even flinch. If you're concerned about reliability, wait til you feel it. HEAVY. Oh, and you should consider having a trailer or SUV to carry this thing.

Here's the part about BASSON that I REALLY want to expound upon. In both product value and customer service, they are one of the BEST companies I have ever dealt with in almost 15 years in the trenches. These guys are truly believe in their product and obviously respect their customers.
When I bought my first 210 Basson in 2006, I dealt with Shawn Green, who was a customer service Superman. I was playing the Basson as we were rehearsing, but needed to upgrade to a touring rig; our agent set me up with an Ashdown (Crashdown? ***down?) endorsement since I was running an Ashdown Mark King at the time and wanted a complete rig. My drummer told me not to do it: he told me to just upgrade my BASSON. Shoulda listened! The Ashdown artist relations people were terrible, didn't return phone calls, my order got "lost" in the factory. Come on. Apparently, unless you're Adam Clayton or in Oasis, you get real low marks on the Ashdown priority scale.
So, after muddling through with a used rig on the road, we got some money coming into the hopper: everybody upgraded their rigs. I immediately emailed BASSON and had our agent mail out a presspack. While Shawn Green was not with the company anymore, VICTOR BASSON (the owner) personally called me the next day to discuss what I wanted. And, I have to say, he was one of the nicest, most pleasant guys I've ever spoken with in regard to music gear. Very genuine. Wanted to know how I was going to run the amp. Processed the order for me, apparently personally. A week later, my BASSON 810 (as heard on stage and record) was being unloaded into the back of my truck at depot near my house.
Anyway, a new artist relations guy, also named Sean (I call him "New Sean") is out in Shawn's old spot...and dammit if he isn't also one of the nicest reps I've worked with! Emailng me for updates, making sure my order worked out, requesting pics for the website. Looks like the legacy continues.
In short: phenom customer service. U.S.-made cabs. Unbeatable tone. What more do you need? Our guitarist has a BUDDA endorsement and I see a LOT of similarity between the two companies: small, boutique, loyal, exceptional products, great artist reps who CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
I'd give this a rating of 100 if I could.

Dude, I've played it all. From carvin/Peavey back in the day, to a Trace Elliot rig in the early 90's, to an SWR system in the late 90's to Ashdown, Ampeg, and Fender in between (you know, all the fashionable bass rigs, when they were hot...HA!). These cabinets kill them all and are a PERFECT match for my Alembic component system.
If it were stolen, I would proudly and heartily salute the thief who did it: because any guy who can run off with THIS 228 pounds monstrosity deserves to have it taking up half his living room. I'd promptly call Victor or Sean and get another one.
Anyway: the bottomline here, to wrap this soliloquy up, is that BASSON makes an unbelievable sounding, awesome looking, U.S.-made cabinet and offers you top-notch, industry leading (in my opinion) customer service. And for the price they're going for on the online retail sites, I really can't see a reason to play any of these Chinese-made cardboard boxes. The power requirements can be a little scary, but if you make sure you're exceeding the power ratings by a few watts, (run 1200 watts into the 1000 watt 410 or 2400 watts into the 810) you'll be good to go.
Anyway, I know I won't be playing anything else, whether it's clubs, theatres, or (hoping and praying) stadiums (when I'm running 4 of these badboys). I'm a Basson guy for life.

Basson B810B. I play this , like most through an Ampeg SVT4Pro head. This is a beast of a cab at over 200 lbs, but it is made to rock...not to carry with one finger to a kountry gig. It is very manageable with the casters and grip bar on the back. No frills, but it is a handsome looking, extremely well built cab that will supply you with all the bass you can handle!

I have pushed this thing to the limits of my SVT4PRO. In return I got clean, solid bass tone with punch-O-plenty! I play through the Boss GT6B multi-effects board and use effects quite a bit. This cab handles them all with style and in your face punch!

I cannot say enough about how well built this cab is. I have no need to carry backup cabs because I know my B810B will perform and stand up to the rigors of the road. I do wish the sliders on the back were metal rather than plastic, and that it had a kick plate, but a couple of bucks and a cutting torch will fix that.
The way I see it, don't complain about weight if you want a well built cab!

I am a twenty year veteran bassist and play professionally. I have owned and played through some incredible cabs in my time, but this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. In terms of wishlist, I think a horn would give it a little help on the high end, but it's nothing that cannot be overcome with some EQ. Other than that a kick plate and metal sliders on the back would make this cab absolute perfection indeed! Easily the bestcab I have ever played and I have tried them all.

Very sturdy, with a giant commercial sized hand rail at the top and wheels to make moving easier. It also has heavy duty plastic rails on the back for easy sliding. It has speakon connection in the rear with one for additional cabinets. This is definately professional grade stuff! !

The sound of this cabinet is awesome when used with an Ampeg svt4 pro head. The manufacturer recommends to use at least 1500w to run this cabinet. Very low lows and the highs are great the way they sound too. I use a B.C. Rich Mockingbird and a Warlock which both sound great through this gear.

Standard setup for an 8x10, no horn, no kick panel in the back to put your foot on when pivoting so I'll wear out the very ugly carpet eventually, but still a sturdy box. No metal front gril and a very ugly silver grill cover as well, not a vintage Febder lok at all. Heavier than anything, had to debate wheather or not to keep it because of tour, but the sound is too amazing to pass up. Love hate relationship. Middle of the road for features, a 5 is fair.

It first it sounded terrible, I didn't know what was wrong, but this thing is really picky on what heads you use. But I threw my Sunn 300T in front of it and it was magic. Alot of lows that make your highs even beefy. But a major lack of highs with no horn, if you play with high treble its loses its presence. More beautiful overtones, sparkle, and beef than any 8x10 I've ever played though. Set it up next to my Ampeg 8X10 the Ampeg farted notes out compared to this. Nuff' said.

Brand New 2007 Basson Sound 810B Bass Cabinet. This thing is built like a tank, literally! The pull-back bar on this thing reminds me of the handrails in a bathroom handicap stall. It is industrial strength tubing for the handle, so that's not going anywhere. Also has long rails bolted to the back so when you slide the cabinet alongside something, it doesn't damage the cabinet. 2 speaker-on connections for the inputs, one for the main, and one for the extension cab. Also has 2 giant wheels that in the tilt-back position, come in very handy when moving this beast. The 8x10 speakers are covered in an awesome silver cover with a chrome name plate and front mounted ports. This thing demands power, up to 2000 watts, and I'm pushing it mono-bridged with my Amgeg SVT4 Pro and Spector Euro-4 bass guitar.
Sound Quality

The sound on this thing is unreal. I don't even know where to begin. I play a Spector bass running through an Ampeg SVT4 along with a BBE Sonic Maximizer and the tone I get is ungodly sick. I can back off the bass and run a killer, sleazy Lemmy tone that is beyond amazing, or crank the bass and let the walls start coming down with those 8x10's. But it will never muddy those low notes, they are always clear and defined. As far as the high's go, this cab allows them to run virtually non-existant to all the way up to ear-piercing loud, and it will not break up one bit. I must say I have definately played my fair share of cabinets over the years from Peavy to Madison to Ampeg, and this cabinet has such a refined sound to it that the others just cannot touch. As far as different playing styles go, I can play fingers, pick, and slap and they all have a clear, thunderous attack to the notes, especially slapping while hitting your thumb on 8x10's. It'll rattle your bones! I did get a chance to also tune my 4-string down to an Ab, which we actually used when recording a Van Halen cover tune if you can believe it with Gene Hoglan. The attack on an open Ab is beyond insane at 1600 watts, let's just say you OWN any room your playing in, hands down. All other instruments pale in comparison to that thunder, end of story! Once again there was no mud though, just gobs of bass tearing my garage apart, lol.
Reliability
:10
It's a bass cabinet, I plug it in and it works. The connectors are speaker-on, which are much more reliable then standard 1/4" connections. The construction is heavy-duty for sure, with giant plastic plates covering the corners so as to avoid any damage if hit. The rails along the back also serve this purpose. I see no reason to believe I'll have any problems anytime soon, and this thing is just built to be toured with.

Overall I've been playing for just about 10 years now. This is the only cabinet I own at the moment, as I sold off my others in order to get this. It was the best decision I ever made regarding that. I must say this is the last brand I'll ever own, only I plan on getting another shortly to really bring the thunder. Along with the Basson 8x10, I do have the Ampeg SVT4 and Spector Euro4. I currently play in a thrash metal band featuring some pretty insane guitarists' and drummers, including members from Dethklok, Strapping Young Lad, Iced Earth, and Daath.....and I must say this cabinet absolutely rips and helps us create the most evil rhythm section possible for our guitarists' to solo over. I will never go back, all hail Basson! Oh, and if you don't take my word on these cabs if you've never played them, ask Nikki Sixx and I'm sure he'll say the same thing!

I bought the Basson sound B810B a little over 2 years ago. I have been playing bass exclusively for 16+ years, with about 5-6 years playing guitar and bass. I have owned almost every bass cab on the market. From the "Supposed" leader in the industry, to homemade. All of which pale by comparison to this cab. I no longer run a direct line into the PA with live performances. Upon first getting the Basson cab, I would play at levels that would get complaints up to a full block away. 3 different bars had noise complaints. I played a gig, and hastily buttoned up my trialer, not completely latching the tailgate. To my horror, my cab fell out, face down in the rain on a sharp turn. After assessing any damage, the only casualty was the corner pieces!! (which Shawn was quick to replace for a mere $10) The construction of this 230 Lb beast has proven to be unequalled.
Sound Quality
:10
Since adjusting my levels to a tolerable threshold, volume and DB's are not the only selling point of this cab--It is the UNBELIEVABLE tone of the cab. The MDF creates a resonance that commands the ear. THIS is how bass should sound. I play a 7 string bass tuned to F sharp, and no longer is there a muffled "blarb" of sound on the lower register. There is an unmistakeable clarity to this cab that sets it apart from any other. The 8, 200 ounce magnets have a tightness and reponse that simply blows the competition away. There is no longer an "abrasive" midrange tone that cuts your ear, but there is a dilectible range of sounds that are only limited by your fingers and ability. I have found that it helps my tendinitis to a huge extent because I don't find myself playing harder (unintentionally) to get the tone I want. The attack of the cab makes me work less, and enjoy more.
Reliability
:10
Even after a couple of years on loading and unloading, there are hardly any visible signs of wear and tear. Most other carpet covered cabs would have exposed cabinet areas, and visible seams. Not this one!! Even after dropping it out of the back of my rig, not a stitch (pardon the pun) of problems at all. The speakers remain clear and powerful, the cab remains to be an irreplaceable part of my sound. I play in a variety band as well as a thrash band, this cab covers it all with the greatest of ease. Smoothe lows, punchy powerful mids, and a clarity for the highs that will make you want to play 24 / 7 !!!!--or until nieghbors call the cops.
Customer Support

Shawn Green, is without a doubt, the best Customer Relations / Support liason there is. I haven't even had to look up any warranty information, nor have I looked for an authorized service dealer, since owning the cab. "No Worries", is the best way to describe the Bass cab, and it's company. If there is a problem, rest assured, Shawn will take care of it. He has answered my questions in a timely, and helpful manner. So if you want a cab that will leave you looking for a replacement in a year, look elsewhere -- this is the last cab you'll ever need, and you won't find yourself browsing for a replacement!

In an age where sound is getting heavier and heavier, bass needs to get lower and lower. I feel that you will not find a better cab on the market today. Unfortunately, most manufacturers rely on ad campaigns, their name, and overseas outsourcing to make a product popular in this market. This cabinet sells itself. The specs alone would make a bassist drool. 28 hz, 2000 watts, 230 Lbs. I run this cab with a QSC PLX series 3,600 watt power amp. As a "preamp section"--I use a "tripler" amp selector to 4 different preamps. GK for thrash, Ampeg SVP pro for classic, SWR for funk and Behringer for effects(V-amp pro, rack mounted). From there I run into a line mixer for volume levelling, then into a Alesis compressor (for punch)--then into my BBE (to add / subtract the low end, compression usually takes some away). I have my dream rig, and the only piece of equipment I wouldn't trade would be my BASSON!!! Please feel free to contact me, I have pics of my gear on MYSPACE, just look up my E-mail address.

The bass cabinet is made out of MDF which is very heavy, but MDF is better for sound so it's worth it's weight in gold. It's very well built, GREAT CONSTRUCTION. BUILT FOR THE OPEN ROADS! I play metal/hardcore and I play in drop C and also with a 5-string bass and I needed a cabinet that would be able to handle those low notes with aggresion and cut through the 2 guitarists and this cabinet does it beautifuly! It has a warm, deep, punchy sound that is also very brutal! THe speakers have 200oz MAGNETS ON THEM! Most bass speakers have about 35-60 oz magnets! The B810B basson cabinet also handles 28hz! This bass cabinet is the best around! If your not playing basson bass cabinets then your tone must suck, and thats sad.

A F*CKIN' BEAST! THIS THING WILL TEAR OFF YOUR BALLS AND EAT THEM FOR DINNER! This basson cabinet has very deep lows that are also very punchy and aggresive. It has a nice attack to it. THe highs are not as bright and brital sounding as other cabinets. The B810B's highs are warmer and are more pleasant sounding for the ear but they also clear so you get the most out of your highs. I have this thing running at 2,400watts RMS and i've cranked it full volume and it dosen't distort, IT SOUNDS AMAZING!

BUILT LIKE A TANK! I put a road case around it because i want to keep it looking nice because i love it so much, but lots of other players are using these cabinets without cases and traveling all over with them because they are so well built. My buddy who has one dropped his 5 feet off a truck on the road and the only thing that happened was the face got a little tore up. The rest of the cabinet was in perfect shape.

Playing in an extremely powerful metal band with two very loud guitarist, the bass cabs I was using couldn't cut through! I was getting a lot of distortion pushing my old bass cabs...and I hate distortion! I love a brutifully clear and thick sound that's extremely aggressive! I needed bass cabs that I can push to the limit! Well I found exactly what I needed with the Basson B810B bass cabs! These monsters have 8 10" BS1075 drivers that can handle 2000 watts @ 4 ohms. The B810B's frequency ranges from 28Hz-5kHz and each bass cab weighs in at 228 lbs! Heavy...but that's how I like it! These cabs are built for touring!
