Lotsa features. EQ, 2 channels all that. It has a bass-a-ma-bob thingy that adds am octave lower tone. This is great for playing with the amp turned down low as to not disturb your neighbors. It'lll move the air. Its also good when used in conjunction with a distortion pedal to give the sound a bit more definition in the wash of fuzz.

Sound Quality : 10
For 200 bucks it sounds great. I play everything that is not heavy metal, country or lame ass whiteboy funk. Alot of control over the sound it gives you. Burns up every amp in this price range. I play a Fender Jazz and an Ibanez something or other.

Reliability : No Opinion
So far so good. Its not built like a 60's Fender or anything like that. I'm sure it'll fail in a few years. Its a great practice amp. I wouldn't use it as a steady gig or band amp. Plastic, plastic, plastic. Why does it have plastic input plugs?

I'm sure Behringer has a "make it self destruct" engineering dept. like most manufactors do. You could call it what Hyundai is to cars. Its not a classic that is going to last a really long time. Maybe I''m wrong ....

Its a great practice amp. Probably loud enough to jam with a full band but I would rather something with more power and a 15 for speaker. 200 bucks you can''t go too wrong.

The dynamizer & the eq is cool. The ultrabass thing is pretty much useless. This bass amp has taught me a valuable lesson when it comes to features....most of them are useless. When it comes to bass amplification, simple is best.

Sound Quality : 5
I typically play "alternative" hard rock & my style is fairly progressive. I normally just dial in one tone that I like & leave it there. I typically use different playing techniques to change my sound, so the variety of sounds question is more or less NA in my situation. The bass I play through it is a Carvin 5-string with active electronics.
The sound is relatively clean, but for some reason it seems to lack punch. I like the xlr out, but I assume that feature is relatively standard these days.

Reliability : 2
Total crap. I dunno, because my only other experience with bass amps has been with (older) Peavy's, so maybe all modern amps are built like this. This one had an input jack(plastic piece of crap) broke on it the very first live gig I brought it on(drunk tripped over it). After about a year of moderate usage, it blew up in a puff of smoke.

I have been playing for around 15 years, mostly live. I don't ever use an amp in the studio.
I definitely got what I paid for with this amp. I had previously purchased a Behringer mixer that I was quite pleased with, which I still own. So I kinda expected more from this amp. After it died, I went back to my old trusty Peavy TKO(?)60 that I bought used when I first started playing. It actually seems more powerful than the 120watt Behringer, although not quite as clean.
I can be quite rough with my gear, but I don't feel that I'm abusive. My Peavy has been through HEYELL! & still works great(it's beer-proof). This is why I will probably look at Peavy's when I go to purchase another amp & definitely not Behringer's. I'm giving it a 1 rating because it really was a waste of my money. Of course, it might be okay if you are playing at church.

This is a brand new 120 w, 2 channel solid state 1x12 bass combo, or 'workstation' as Behringer call it. This is due to the audio in and outputs for rehearsal and recording, allowing the user to play along with any audio source (I use a personal CD player with mine). There is a Direct Output (D.I.) for larger venue use, and headphone socket for silent practice. The combo is presented as a tilt-back cabinet (for monitoring puposes, or just better audibility in band situations), with a 12" aluminium cone driver. There is an external cabinet output, but this is used instead of the internal speaker, rather than alongside it. A footswitch is included to switch channels and engage the 'Ultrabass' effect. Has a 1 unit rack space at the front, above the controls, which would have been better as 2 unit, considering that Behringer's own Bass V-Amp Pro (preamp/modeller)is 2 unit size. Very versatile, however, and unreal for the price!

Sound Quality : 10
I generally play rock, indie and pop music, on my American Fender Jazz Bass (passive pickups). This amp has a very punchy sound and projects well, the tone controls are more than adequate for my needs, although some may want fuller EQ control. On it's own the amp has a very strong sound, clean to the top of the scale, with no distortion unless you turn the gain up too high. If you want overdrive however (as I often do, being a fan of John Entwistle), don't rely on this amp alone, as the distortion is unmusical. This isn't a down point to me, as I haven't found an amp under #1000 that distorts well alone. For recording and live use, I use Behringer's Bass V-Amp as a pre-amp, and in this setup, It rocks! Cheesy but true. When I began playing bass, 15-16 yrs ago, I hankered for the sounds I am getting now, and at #189 for the amp, and #79 for the V-Amp, I have an incredible sounding and performing rig for less than the price of my first half-stack, which sounded awful! I'm playing in a stoner rock band right now, we play very loud(competes with a 300w guitar amp and an insane drummer!), downtuned to C, and this works for me. The ultrabass feature is cool, but has limits. I use it generally on lines on the higher 3 strings, as it gets weird on lower notes. This effect is not as strong built into the amp as it is in the V-amp, so I tend not to use it unless I am practising "clean" at home or through headphones. On it's own the BX1200 is a better amp than you can get up to around #500-600, with the V-Amp, you're talking twice that. Only an opinion though, so don't shoot meld get this sound out of a 12" combo. Compact, but heavy, in sound (and weight!).

Reliability : 10
There seems to be a wealth of wildly varying experiences re. reliability. Thankfully, I am one of the happy ones. Hopefully, this is down to product improvement. I have owned this rig (amp and V-amp)since January (4Mths)and have generally used it flat out at practices (3+hrs every week) and have had no problems. In fact, the value against quality of both Behringer products has led me to feel that I will try other products in the future (mics and PA), and to recommend them to others (guitarist is saving his coin for a Guitar V-Amp). Some people talk of the pots, knobs being weak, but what are they doing with them? They are strong enough for me. I chuck it in a car at leat twice a week.

Customer Support : No Opinion
There is a full warranty service, and you can register your product by mail or online. I have had no problems, and hope not to. Will let you know then.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing over 15 yrs, have owned all sorts of overpriced rubbish. Nothing has come close to this rig that cost me under #300. So cheap, you could replace it. I love everything about it, size, sound, and volume. If you want a bigger speaker/wattage Behringer are soon to unleash the BXL3000(15" speaker 300w). I'm happy right here though, may want bigger if gigs get bigger(have to be larger than clubs though).

This amp is very versatile. I play funk, soul, r&b, hip hop, blues and rock, mostly christian though. It can cover everything. It kinda has 2 channles. 2 channels but use them at different times. This amp has all the features I want. I use all the features. Right now I'm practicing with a band and it's strong enough to be heard easily.

I have a Fender Jazz deluxe. The bass is noisy not the amp. Slapping works great on this thing.

This is more then likely the only cheap combo I will own. If it is not this it'll be an Eden Combo with 200 watts and one 10 inch speaker. Yes I'd buy this again.

i think this amp was made in 2004 or 2005 im not entirely sure.there are many features on this beast.120w combo in a wedge shaped cabnet,2 channel, ultrabass feature, cabnet speaker imput and it came with a footswitch.

Sound Quality : 8
I can get a good variety of sounds from this amp.the sounds range from punchy and trebley to rich and full.I was surprised how loud it can go keeping in mind that it is only very small.this amp goes great on high volumes.only low notes sound good as high notes sometimes distort.the settings i have make the sound full.i simply turn the bass up,gain up,the volume up,high mid up and shape up.I have treble off,low mid off and ultrabass off.this will provide you with heart thumping low end,i promise.with the volume right up you may get very soft buzzing, cover the strings or touch anything metal on the guitar and its gone.the ultrabass feature is a bit of fun here and there.what it does is it plays back the note you play along with the same note an octave lower.it is a great feature for high notes, but it is silly for playing low notes.the included pedal is rather sturdy and convinient.there are two switches one is to turn on ultra bass the other is to switch between the two channels.i play metal.thats basically it,the amp is great for metal.im not sure about other types of music.

Reliability : 8
It seems rather relible although the controls are very cheap and turn too easily.i probably would gig without a backup as it is very heavy and well built.the speaker is made of metal which is good in my book.i don't know a great deal about how reliable it is as i just bought it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with behringer.

I have been playing bass for just over 2 years.I started when i was 10.I own a 5 string olp spector bass and it sounds great with my new bx1200.if this were lost or stolen i'd buy another, simply because the price is insane.any other brand would be hundreds more.i love how powerful it is and i like how it looks.i chose this because i had very little money.if you don't have much money and are after a great sounding amp get this

120 watts, 1 12" speaker, 2 channels (footswitchable, footswitch included), Ultrabass sub-octave generator, Dynamizer which probably is a limiter, 4 band EQ, line in, headphone out, speaker out, more. Great set of features for the price.

Sound Quality : 7
The amp sounds reasonably good for the price. Its a little weak on low-end and breaks up far too easily when you crank the volume. In my experience it really was only loud enough for practicing and very quiet rehearsals (drummer better be using brushes!).

Reliability : 4
Ugh. Brought it to a louder rehearsal, cranked it up a bit, and the thing just died. Started working the next day (I guess after it cooled off a bit) but that was all I could take. I sold it within a month.

n/a - didn't call

Overall Rating : 8
I would never replace this thing. If I wanted a "practice only" amp (thats all its good for) I would buy something cheaper and smaller. The deal-breaker for me is simply the reliability - you can't turn it up much at all before it either distorts or shuts down.

Made in September 2003, bought new. Great features, it has anything you would expect from an amp at this or even twice its price range.Front panel features 2 channels - channel 1 can be used for rhythm, channel 2 comes with a SHAPE filter, great for solos - 4 band equalizer,ULTRABASS switch and knob, volume and two inputs for passive and active. Back panel features XLR out, effects loop, tape in & out, tuner out and speaker out for driving external speakers (not together with the built-in speaker). The amp comes with a 12 inch aluminium cone speaker, which is great for modern sounds, but adds too much treble, so it may not be good if you want to achieve a darker sound. It also has a footswitch for switching the channels and turning on/off the Ultrabass feature. I bought the amp basically for home practising, recording and rehearsals and for this job, the amp is ok. It can also be used for small gigs as a monitor, sending the signal from the XLR to the PA System.I wouldn't consider buying this amp for anything more than that.

Sound Quality : 6
Sound is not really a problem but when compared with amps like the Hartke Kickback 12 or Ampeg BA112, it is clear enough why this amp costs much less than other amps in this category.I would consider as problem the fact that it sounds good only at high volumes, but even then the sound is not something to die for. I often use my headphones when practising at home in order to get a decent sound and not disturb the neighbourhood.I also feel that volume changes from 6 and up do not affect the volume level at all. I do not think that it is loud enough for a 120W amp, but it is ok for its intended use.It also seems that it can handle high volume levels without distorting the sound.Channel 2 has a SHAPE filter which can seriously improve the overall sound of the amp and get some nice sounds for solos. The Ultrabass feature is not that usefull but I found that you can get some nice effects when playing in higher notes, not good for rhythm though. The overall feel is that when used at high volumes, in a rehearsal or small gig, you can get some nice, modern and growly sounds, good slap sounds, but not something special.

Reliability : 7
I use this amp only for home practising and rehearsals, so I don't know if it can stand up for a gig. It seems well constructed and reliable although the front panel knobs are cheapy and could be easily damaged, so use with care.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know, never dealed with them.

Overall Rating : 7
Good for small gigs and rehearsals, not so good for home practising, unless you live alone in a forest and you can turn the volume up, without giving nightmares to your neighbours. If lost or stolen, I would probably save a little more money and buy a Hartke or Ampeg.

I bought it new so it was probably made in 2003.
I play on two of these, one I have at home that I use for gigs with my band and for choir practice and gigs. the other one is at church and I play it during practice and services there.
Sometimes I play through a PA and sometimes I don't, it works in both situations. of course if you're playing in a big venue you definitly need a PA. But for what I do it has enough power and it's suitable for all the styles that I play.
The tiltback design is very convenient. The Ultrabass is a fun, it works best when you're playing high notes. I hardly ever use it though, just for fun every now and then.
I always use channel 2 because I like the tone shaping. I could do without channel 1, but it could be used to push up the volume if you're doing a bass solo during a gig.
The sound engineers at gigs often find the XLR line-out very convenient.
I like to keep it simple so I don't need any more features than this.

Sound Quality : 7
I've played it with an Ibanez GSR200 and a Mexican Fender Jazz Bass, both fingered and picked. I mostly play punkrock and pop (worship) music.
It sounds pretty good, I can't get the exact sound out of it that I want but I can get a good sound. It has a kind of typical sound, of course you can tweak it with the EQ but in some way it still stays the same. It has a punchy sound, probably because of the aluminium speaker. I find that it sounds better at a high volume at gigs.
It stays clean at all volumes (at least at the volumes that I've played it, which is pretty loud). It gets noisy sometimes but I think that's because of the basses that I use.

Reliability : 7
One or two times when I plugged in my bass and started playing hardly any sound came out. Then later when I tried it out again it seemed like nothing had happened and it sounded great again. This has happened with both the amps that I use but that was like half a year ago and I haven't had problems ever since. So that's pretty weird.. other than that it always works fine and it seems to be built very well

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing guitar for about about 6 years and bass for about 4 years. I've played through other amps but this is the my first own bassamp.
If it got stolen I'd either buy another one or save up for an Ampeg head + cabinet, but I'm planning on doing that anyway.
Overall it's a decent amp, but for this price it's an excellent choice. If you don't have too much cash to spend and you're looking for a portable amp that you can use both at home and for gigs, this is your amp!!

I think there are enough reviews for you to pick up the features, but for the record I like the versitility of it.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using( or rather, was using) a Hamer short scale into a big muff into a DOD flanger to the BX1200. I play all over the musical spectrum and this amp does it all fine. No, it doesn't have "Ampeg tone" But it also doesn't have the Ampeg pricetag. Obviously this amp is only 1 12" but you can use it to power larger amps, that maybe don't have great tone on their own(Crate anyone?)

Reliability : 3
Now here's the issue. Sitting in my room, playing with my headphones on, I go to get a new battery for my flanger. Turn everything off, go get the battery, come back, flip the power0 switch... and nothing happens. The amp literally died right then, and has failed to turn back on. The only warning sign I had was when I flipped the power switch and the power flickered, this happened a maximum of two times, which is two times too many in my book.

Customer Support : 1
After my third unreplied-to email sent to Behringer, I'm beginning to think along the lines of "Screw the warrenty, I can probably fix this." Their invisible, if they are real people.

Overall Rating : 5
I really like this amp, its nice and versitile enough so that I can get the sound I want regardless of who I'm playing with( This ranges from acousta-rock like Alice In Chains unplugged or Eyes Adrift to Pantara/Nu-Metal to Nirvana style Grunge and lastly RATM style funk(?) Yeah, my jam-mates all listen to different stuff). I could even dig up a "signature" sound, which I think fit my playing really well. Too bad its got miserable reliability, otherwise I'd recommend this amp to everyone I know.

I read the reviews about this amp and I agree with one of the authors: most of them are not fair. It is stupidity to use such a small amp at big events and then complain about lacking power. This is a workstation for home or studio applications, a monitor amp for big stages (look at the shape!) or a stage amp for small (and silent) gigs.I have two of these and I am using them for 1,5 years. One for work (hotel bars, restaurants) and one for home.Especially as a practice tool it is very versatile. You can plug in a keyboard or drum machine over the stereo tape in,practice at night with headphones without driving your neighbours crazy, connect the amp directly to your PC through the stereo tape out connection, you can mix the input signals of the bass input and tape input with the gain and master volume controls, send the bass signal over the DI out to the mixing console, you can connect a tuner to the dedicated output and silent-tune on stage by turning down the gain, you can plug in two basses at the same time (great if you give lessons),etc. etc. There are countless variations.....I didn't use any amp with so many features.

Sound Quality : 9
I am using two Yamaha TRBs,one 5- and one 6-string and a fretless 5-string.They all work well with this amp.The eq. section is versatile. The shape filter makes big differences in sound, you can adapt different kind of basses to the amp.I found that the 5-srting sounds best with the filter at 8,while the 6-string sounds better with higher filter settings. My fretless sounds best with the filter bypassed. The amp is very silent.I like the sounds of the amp.It is totally sufficient for me.The ultrabass function works best with the amp connected to a PA system with subwoofers.Try it,it's shaking!!!

Reliability : 9
Yes,I think this amp is dependable.I have two of them and the only problem I had in the past 1,5 years was a broken speaker jack which I replaced myself within ten minutes! On stage I am using the amp at gain 8 and master 10 4-5 hours a night.I never had problems.

Customer Support : 9
I wrote to Behringer, because the amp had a mysterious...well I don't want to say defect,I don't know what it was.At the hotel the amp was producing a terrible hum when the Ultrabass function was switched on.But outside the hotel the amp was absolutely noisefree.I couldn't find out what it was.Since I quit the hotel job the problem is gone. The guys at Behringer were confused about the strange problem and couldn't figure out what it might have been, but at least they replied all my mails and tried to help (I contacted directly Behringer Germany).Since the amp is working well now,I think the problem was caused by the elctrical system of the hotel, I don't know...

Overall Rating : 9
Once again: this amp is ideal for home use or for small gigs.Don't think of it as a big stage amp.I think it is loud enough, sounds nice and has many features other amps don't have.I'm happy with my Ultrabasses.
