I read the reviews about this amp and I agree with one of the authors: most of them are not fair. It is stupidity to use such a small amp at big events and then complain about lacking power. This is a workstation for home or studio applications, a monitor amp for big stages (look at the shape!) or a stage amp for small (and silent) gigs.I have two of these and I am using them for 1,5 years. One for work (hotel bars, restaurants) and one for home.Especially as a practice tool it is very versatile. You can plug in a keyboard or drum machine over the stereo tape in,practice at night with headphones without driving your neighbours crazy, connect the amp directly to your PC through the stereo tape out connection, you can mix the input signals of the bass input and tape input with the gain and master volume controls, send the bass signal over the DI out to the mixing console, you can connect a tuner to the dedicated output and silent-tune on stage by turning down the gain, you can plug in two basses at the same time (great if you give lessons),etc. etc. There are countless variations.....I didn't use any amp with so many features.

Sound Quality : 9
I am using two Yamaha TRBs,one 5- and one 6-string and a fretless 5-string.They all work well with this amp.The eq. section is versatile. The shape filter makes big differences in sound, you can adapt different kind of basses to the amp.I found that the 5-srting sounds best with the filter at 8,while the 6-string sounds better with higher filter settings. My fretless sounds best with the filter bypassed. The amp is very silent.I like the sounds of the amp.It is totally sufficient for me.The ultrabass function works best with the amp connected to a PA system with subwoofers.Try it,it's shaking!!!

Reliability : 9
Yes,I think this amp is dependable.I have two of them and the only problem I had in the past 1,5 years was a broken speaker jack which I replaced myself within ten minutes! On stage I am using the amp at gain 8 and master 10 4-5 hours a night.I never had problems.

Customer Support : 9
I wrote to Behringer, because the amp had a mysterious...well I don't want to say defect,I don't know what it was.At the hotel the amp was producing a terrible hum when the Ultrabass function was switched on.But outside the hotel the amp was absolutely noisefree.I couldn't find out what it was.Since I quit the hotel job the problem is gone. The guys at Behringer were confused about the strange problem and couldn't figure out what it might have been, but at least they replied all my mails and tried to help (I contacted directly Behringer Germany).Since the amp is working well now,I think the problem was caused by the elctrical system of the hotel, I don't know...

Overall Rating : 9
Once again: this amp is ideal for home use or for small gigs.Don't think of it as a big stage amp.I think it is loud enough, sounds nice and has many features other amps don't have.I'm happy with my Ultrabasses.

I'm used to playing Heavy rock/metal with clean bass.
This amp sounds absolutely great with my OLP Stingray5. Crispy clean and punchy.
The volume this tiny 120watt 12inch amp can pump out is astounding. No distortion, no clipping. Everything clearly defined. On stage, practice and even at home (at bedroom volume)
I've seen people laugh at me for bringing such a tiny amp up on stage and afterwards congratulate me on the great sound. And I'm using it at about 50% of it's maximum volume.
I have a halfstack (Behringer3000T + Hartke 410XL) and I keep using this tiny amp for indoor gigs with PA because I just don't need more volume.
Shape and ultrabass are both great functions but I don't use them at all. I mostly use the second channel for a volumeboos whenever I do solo's.

Beware tho: Ampeg lovers and people who like 'warm' 'wooly' tones should not get this amp. The aluminium cone speaker has a really strong direct attack which is great for clearly defined clean bass playing and slapping but a bit less for those really old songs (led zeppelin) or heavy distorted sounds.

Reliability : 10
All the knobs feel a bit wobly at first but so far the entire thing has held up greatly under the abuse I put it through.
Gigged it multiple times without backup and will continue to do so.
And after nearly a year of constantly lugging it around (practice, home, gig's) in less than optimal environments (damp, cold, hot, etc, etc, etc) this thing hasnt failed me yet

Customer Support : No Opinion
Didn't need the their support so far.
(reliability is great)

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing nearly 2.5 years guitar and a year bass.
This thing has been my workhorse on bass all this time and if it got stolen I WILL replace it. Low price, high volume, great sound, kickback (monitor). The only bad thing about it is weight. It's a real backbreaker. Other than that it's super.
I compared it to a Hartke kickback 12 and later a Hartke kickback15 and both didn't compare to this amp in Sound and Features. Price/Quality was HEAVILY in favor of the BX1200 (quality alone was in favor of the BX1200)

Great amp! 120 watts of pure power in a small cabinet; a wonderful 12'' aluminium cone; 4 bands equalizer, ultrabass function, 2 channels, a lot of outputs... just for 300? here in Italy!!!

Sound Quality : 9
I've bought this amp few days ago, i've tried it with my mexican fender jazz bass...I play rock, from brit-rock to hard core rock, and i found out that this amp could cover the entire range of styles that i want to play...it's easy to find out the right eq, and by using the two channels you can use one with higher gain for the bass solos....it's even a great guitar amp if u play stoner rock or cross-over...you can connect the Ultrabass and normal guitar amp to cover all the frequencies, mainly the low frequencies... but let's talk of it as a BASS amp!! the shape function is great and adds a great tone to the sound; on the other hand, i think that the ultrabass function is quite useless if the knob is turned over the 4...it adds an octave below the normal sound that came out with a sort of delay...if you turn the knob below the 4, the sound is more loud, and it could be a nice thing... you've just to find out what it's good for you!!

Reliability : 10
The amp is very hard, and you would never think it is so heavy!!! i think it's heavier than my Crate 212 GTX (two cones for guitar)... Maybe it will never break down by hits or something... I don't know if INSIDE is so reliable, but i completely trust Behringer for his reliability... I will use it for my gigs without a backup...it will be my main amp for a long time

Customer Support : 10
Nothing to say, i've got 3 user's manual (one in french, one in english and one in german), warranty, a small book with all behringer products and even 2 stickers!! I LOVE STICKERS!! GREAT! 10 just for the stickers ^____^

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing bass for 2 years, guitar for 5... I use this amp with a GallienKrueger distortion pedal and it just ROCKS... i will buy it again right now if it were stolen, i love the sound and the only thing i hate is the weight...i have to congratulate behringer

An update: 18 months on, this amp has never failed.
Only at an outdoor gig did I find it lacking.

Sound Quality : 9
Easy to get a good smooth tone, with 'shape' cranked up and other EQ not far off flat. At v. high volumes, the Dynamizer (compressor) kicks in and you lose any subtlety of playing. Let's face it, this is not a Trace Elliot 4x10.

Reliability : 10
Like I say, very reliable in my case.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed to get service.

When I bought it, there was no competetion with this spec at this price. Now, I might look at the Laney offering, too.

Two Channel 120 watt bass amp with a 12 inch aluminum cone speaker.
The Dynamizer feature works well. It keeps the amp from clipping at high volumes. The octave effect is okay if used sparingly. For a 120 watt 12 it sure packs a punch. Ive played an outdoor gig with this for about 50 people and my bass was louder than the guitars. I do wish Behringer would make a 1X15 combo at 200 watts however.

Sound Quality : 8
I play a Peavey Millenium BXP and a Squire Jazz through this amp, and both basses sound like themselves. I play classic rock and Christian music and the Behringer covers both well. With the shape switch and active EQ I could get just about any sound out there. I never had to put this amp up full throttle, 50% is the most I ever used when gigging. I did turn it all the way up once and the distortion was minimal. Wish they made a 200 watt 1x15.

Reliability : 10
Never had a problem. Never took a backup. Had it for 6 Months.

Customer Support : 5
Never had to deal with them. But I heard they are really terrible to deal with as far as warranties are concerned.

Overall Rating : 8
I'd probably get another if this was lost or stolen but I would use it for practice and smaller gigs. Not because it isn't loud enough, but I opt rather for a 150 to 200 watter with a 15 in. speaker.
If Behringer would ever make something like that I would buy it.

features include 12" speaker, 120w, two inputs, shape function, bass suboctave feature called ULTRABASS (NOT DYNAMIZER THAT IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING), dynamizer whichkind of acts like the opposite of a limiter i think and a bunch of i/o things. pretty damn good for the price.

Sound Quality : 8
im using a squier p-bass special V which is a wiggy 5 string. it comes out really clean through the amp and the shape function gices it the very modern snappy tone. i use the two channels as one channel for playing finger and the other pick and slap(shape). the ultrabass is nifty once in a while but overused is a real nuisance. like someone said, dont buy it for that specifically. the 12" speaker pushes but not well enough for larger gigs. smaller crowds like less than 90 people will pushing it for this amp. its not very noisy and i dont hear the clicks everyone is talking about when i switch channels. the one thing that is annoying though is that it tops out around 7 when the knob goes up to 12. 8-12 just produces the same volume with a minor amount of increasing distortion which may be for some people but not for me.

Reliability : 10
this amp has not failed me a single time. the only slight problem i ever had with this was that the one of the pots got a little loose but i twisted it and it was a kwik fix

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal

Overall Rating : 9
overall this is a pretty reliable amp. it is a fantastic small gig amp and it can defintely perform for most applications. the only thing is i traded mine in for credit towards a peavey head and cab so it could push out more sound than through one 12" speaker. overall this was a great 2nd amp for me and ive been playing a little over a year. just wish it had a bigger speaker.

this is a solid state 120 watt bass combo with a 12" alluminum driver and kick back designe. this amp has 2 seprate chanels footswichable with indisual gain controll and the 2nd channel has a shape controll (mid sweep.) There is a 4 ban eq, a subharmonic effect(like an activar), and a master volume .

Sound Quality : 8
A been playing guitar for over 15 years, but only had a bass rig for 6 months....I play a Ibanez grs 200 straight into the amp....

it sounds great, I played through equivilent amps in the store (peavey, harkey, fender) I thought this one sounded the best and it was the cheapest. the subharmonic effect is not useful, but nice to mess around with some times. I use it to practice with a band, we play loud and I never turn this up past half way (I am using a wireless system that may step-up the gain a bit)

Reliability : 6
I have never had a problem with this amp, but the pots and inputs/outputs are cheap and may break....others have complained. I am hopeful that I won't have any problems.

This little Combo has a lot of features. Too many for the price. These things go together. The amp is very versitile, it has a worthwhile channel switch and I use the Ultrabass function every night I use it. It needs a ground lift but as yet I haven't had a noise issue. It could be a bit louder but for most applications it's enough. I bought the amp new from Zzounds only 4 monthes ago.

Sound Quality : 7
The over all sound quality is very good considering that the 12" driver doesn't reproduce truelly thumping bass, the preamp out will provide this to your mixer. It serves very well as a preamp to the board and you should think of the speaker as a monitor, not the sound the crowd will hear. The two channels are identical if the Shape function is "out" so I'm not sure the point of being able to disable it as this is the best feature of the whole amp. THe Ultrabass feature is useful but must be carefully balanced. Nice flexibility.

Reliability : 2
Here's the problem. THis amp is NOT ROAD WORTHY. End of Subject. I've had mine 4 Months and the Master Volume pot has completely crapped out. I had to see what this thing is made of and there's hardly anything in the chassis. All the pots are little surface mount garbage, the jacks are not much better and the opamps and power amp are basically the same thing as in a CAR RADIO! There is a monster heatsink inside and a power tranformer that looks very nice but if the parts that move die this easily then the unit is still crap. It will serve as a workstation or for practices but I can't trust this to hold up at a gig. Buy a G&K or H&K if your going to gig. Remember the quality is directly related to price.

Customer Support : 2
I called Behringer USA four times and sent out two emails. The man in charge of warranty RA's was never available, talking with someone else or away from desk. He did try to return my call twice while I was at work even after I L.M. about work schedule. A tech replied to one email about ten days later and provided me with a source for a replacement part to do the work myself, I had asked specifically for this info. So on one hand I couldn't send it in for warranty repair but I could find out how to buy the part myself and replace it MYSELF. Remember it's only 4 months old and under warranty.

Overall Rating : 2
It's a decent value unit if you have no failures with the absolutely CHEAP ASS PARTS they build these things out of. I WILL NOT BUY ANY OTHER BEHRINGER PRODUCTS!
IF BEHRINGER WISHES TO STAY IN THIS MARKET THEY BETTER DECIDE THAT A MORE EXPENSIVE PRODUCT THAT SELLS FEWER UNITS IS FAR BETTER THEN REVEIWS LIKE THE ONE I'M LEAVING.

1 by 12 combo amp. metal cone. 120 watts RMS. 2 channel. 3 band EQ. Balanced output. About 45 pounds.

I play professionally in a variety of formats (mostly jazz, and some blues and country). I play primarily upright bass though occasionally fretless 4 string. For me, this amp has worked out great. I had an old GK that I played with for many years without problem. It finally went to amp heaven at a gig, and I decided to look around before just getting another. My primary requirments were that it was manageable to carry, sounded decent, and had a balanced out. This amp has all that.

For smaller clubs or restaraunt gigs, I can just plug it in and play. The EQ is adequate enough to get "my sound" in whatever room I happen to be in. It s plenty loud. For larger stages, hotel functions, or outdoor festivals, I actually put it in front of me to use as a personal monitor and just feed the balanced out to the house P.A. and I m all set.

For what I need, this amp is great, and for $250, I don't have to worry about it too hard. If it were ever stolen, it's easily replaceable.

There is an odd "dynamizer" feature that I never use that sounds like an octave pedal. A chorus would have been more useeful for me, but i guess you cant have everything...

Sound Quality : 9
I play mostly jazz, blues, country, etc... I really dont usually use a lot of effects, and just want my sound to be as close to the acoustic sound as I can get. The behringer is fine. It sounds like my bass, just louder. The EQ can be very helpful in funny rooms.

Compared to my old GK, the sound is a little warmer. Of course GK has a rep for sounding so clean as to be a little sterile.

It is not the loudest amp in the world, but like I said before... It s great for small clubs and restaraunts and if you are playing a real large room, in all likelihood you will just be feeding the house P.A. a direct signal anyway.

Reliability : No Opinion
I havent had it for too long. I have been gigging 4 an 5 nights a week with it for about 6 months and it seems fine. I m just crossing my fingers that it s ready for the long haul.

The only problem I ve ever had was this. One night I was playing a fairly large stage at one of the casinos using the amp as a monitor and feeding the house. For some reason the speaker on the amp wasnt working. When the sound guy checked it out, he realized he had phantom power on the line going into the direct out of the amp. When he turned it off at the board, the speaker on the amp kicked back in. It was odd. The direct out signal wasnt affected. Just the speaker. I dont know if this is a design flaw, or an abberation or what. I mean to have it looked at but havent found the time yet. It was not a big deal, but thought I should mention it.

Overall Rating : 10
If it were lost or stolen, I figure I d get another. At $250, how can you go wrong? I do this it would have been nice to have a chorus on it, rather than the octave effect. In general, however, I m very happy with it. Considering that the GK I was looking at was about 3 times the price (although admittedly about 20 pounds lighter) I feel like it s a great deal.

Bought new from Musicians friend. Features i wanted, including the XLR Direct output, high watt rating, and 12 inch aluminum cone speaker. needed a back up to my Hartke Kickback amp, figured this was reverse engineered, but that was a big mistake. I do like the RCA Inputs for CD player on the amp. Ultrabass is ultra lame.

Sound Quality : 1
THis is where the problem comes in to play, on paper the amp looks perfect, lots of power and features, but in reality, the amp is very touchy (like all behringer products) I don't know why but this 120 watt amp sounds like a 50 watt amp, no real bottom end, and no dynamics to the sound. Very poor quality sound for bass. I use it now as a monitor for my drummers V-Drums.

Reliability : 8
Been reliable, again my only problem is that the amp doesn't seem to throw the power as it is 'speced' for. very weak amp.

Customer Support : 8
never dealt with the company, if you need a cheap amp this will do, if you can wait, save your bucks for a better amp, you;ll be glad you did.

Overall Rating : 3
works, but again, not sure why sounds so poor.
