sound was not up to the mark. this is supposed to be 120watts!!! nowhere near it. the amp i sold to buy this one was a trace elliot boxer 30watt with 1 x 10" speaker. it had far more balls than this one. i only wanted a small practice amp but the behringer was not even good enough for this. glad i didn't have to use it on a gig. sold it after 3 weeks and bought an ashdown mag 200 combo.

good features. well thought out design. good build quality for the money. don't expect to use it on gigs without being drowned out by the rest of the guys in the band, just not loud enough. never 120 watts. would not generate any trouser flap even if you stood with your leg against it.

I got mine 2005 and it has a lot more features I actually need. It has 2 channels and one has a shape function which probably helps adapting your axe to the amp. I like the XLR output for miking and recording. The tuner output is also very cool. The ultra bass sounds a bit weird, sort of a second tone below the original one. A compressor instead would have been helpful for recording.

I play a cheap Harley Benton HB400TKK active bass and it sounds ok in the practice room. It sounds great when played loud with a Squier bass. Of course, you can't compare it to a combo with 15" or 4 x 10" speakers, but it's ok for the price.

It didn't really break down, but I had the impression that the hum level was too high and had the amp replaced. The new had the same effect, so that seems to be a manufacturing problem (you can actually only hear it, when you're alone in the room and are close to the speaker). I think it' quite reliable (I only use it 3 hours a week).

It'a a nice practise amp that you can also use for smaller gigs. I like the the wedge shape so you don't have turn up the volume so much. You get a lot of amp for the money.

I bought my BX1200 in early 2004. I'd look up the serial but the amp is in getting repaired again. It has the standard equipment: foot switch, ultra-bass, shape filter etc.
I find the primary channel a bit too hot unless you rollback the treble. The secondary with the shape is more versatile. Ultra-bass is fun to play with as a toy, but not very practical.
The amp rarely leaves the basement, depending on who's hosting the weekly jam.

I play a passive 82 Hamer Cruisebass and an active Cort Artisan B5, which both have their own distinct tone. The amp is generally able to provide the sound I want, provided the volume isn't maxed out.
I primarily jam with friends and do the very occassional small room performance, mostly rock and prog-rock.
Overall, its got enough punch for most of my needs, but comes up a little short in a larger room. Competing for volume means sacrificing clarity, although I can usually minimize excessive distortion by dropping the mids a bit.

Here's the kicker! As mentioned earlier, its in the shop again. Two complete failures in 3 years. The first amp was actually replaced under warranty, after 3 months. Seeing as I play maybe 6 hours a week and usually at home with at low volume, I can't believe that I've gone through two of these. Fortunately this happened at a jam rather than a show as my backup is an ancient Traynor Bassmate (which naturally, still works fine after 30 years and much abuse)

First failure, it was replaced under warranty, but it took three months!! Behringer customer service was practically invisible.
Second failure, not under warranty, I'm still debating whether its worth it (estimate $280). This time, Customer service readily available and helpful via e-mail, although no expalnations or solutions. (Maybe they've been getting more practice at it lately)

Been playing for 30 years, mostly casually.
If it were stolen (please), I would not buy another. I'd look for something with more power and definitely not made by Behringer.
I like the features and the size, but it does weigh a ton.
When I bought it, there wasn't much else in that range with those features or that compact size.
FINAL SUMMARY: IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BUYING A BEHRINGER AMP, BE PREPARED FOR POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. THE PRICE IS GOOD AND THE FEATURES MAY BE ATTRACTIVE, BUT YOU ARE ONLY GETTING WHAT YOU PAY FOR. CHINESE MANUFACTURED

This amp has a bunch of features I felt were basically useless. The sub-bass only added some distorted noise to the sound, the compressor hardly noticed, and the graphic eq hardly made a difference. The shape also didn't make much of a difference in the sound. If Behringer had only simplified this amp, only with volume, bass mid, treble, master, and left out the rest, I would have been happy.
WARNING! This amp doesn't have a line out. Could you believe a 12" combo with no line out for the p.a.? I might have kept this if it did.

I tried using this amp with a duo that I play in. One guitar, one bass, and backing tracks and vocals. When we turned up later in the night, this thing fell behind. When I cranked it up halfway the sound became very mushy and the bottom sounded terrible. You can't use this live because there's no line out to help push the sound out.

This amp was actually very well built. However, it suffered from a mixture of bad features that didn't work well and a very weak presence and lack of line out for live performance. I really like Behringer stuff and I hope they try at this one again. I hear the competitor version by Rogue really kicks. I'm going to try that one.

Pretty good in this area - the shape function is nice, and footswitchable channels are always useful. The Ultrabass function is kinda weak and not really usable, but fun, at least, for the novelty factor.
The only problem is that this really dosent sound like a 120 watt amp. Its been sufficient for my needs; i.e. practice at home and with a small band, and even a small gig, but it sounds more like a 60 watt then anything else.
Oh yes.. The bastard is heavy

I really like the sound of this amp. Granted, its not gonna be as good as a much more expensive amp, but the shape function does its job. I use it through a Hartke SB-15 p-j bass, and between the settings on the bass and the amp, i can get a pretty wide range of decent tones.

2006 model. I think the sub bass control is a joke. Why waste money putting garbage like this in the amp that is totally useless, when something usefull like a tuner could have been installed instead. Doesnt have enough power to use in my blues band with a drummer but works well for acoustic jams. It also is a great practice amp for practicing alone with my mp3 player plugged in. The wood used is particle board and it is VERY heavy.

Using a fretless vintage jazz bass with it. The tone isnt bad and has a bit of flexibility and doesnt seem noisy. Havent really experienced distortion with it except when i tried to use it with the full band, it couldnt begin to cut it. Its a great amp for when i jam with acoustic instrument or playing alone but i dont recomend using it with a drummer as you will never hear it. I know 120 watts sounds impressive but the amp isnt really all that loud.

Great little amp for the money and if you realize its volume limitations. If i were to do it again I would go for the smaller lighter amp with the 10 inch speaker because it would also be adequate for acoustic jams and a hell of a lot lighter. The amp isnt campable of being heard over a drummer so the smaller one would cover anything i use this amp for.

I play a lot of slap, and fingerstyle. The amp certainly is very bright due to the alumilium cone and so it sounds really good, even at the loudest volume. It does have to be cranked to almost max to practice with a loud drummer tho, but thats what the volume control is for isnt it :P
The Chanel change allows me to get a good trebbly punchy slap sound and a more bass heavy fingerstyle.
When the amp is cranked up tho, a little tone is lost and it becomes a little muddy. Nothing to worry about tho i'd say.

If it was stolen id probably upgrade to something slightly larger, seeing as its always being used at near full volume.

For the price this amp is loaded with features; two chanels one with a shape dial (a filter), hi, lo, hi-mid and lo-mid tone controls, and ultrabass which basicly playes a note an octave below what your playing - it sound great on the higher strings but pants on the lower strings. Has a DI out, headphone jack, tuner out and everything else you'd expect. Comes with a foot switch too.

I got this amp in March 2006 it was like brand new on ebay. Paid $150. It has all the features I wanted. Light weight, tilt back, 120 watts, small enough to fit in my Miata's front seat. I'd plan to use in a 3 piece blues band. And for practice. At home, it sounded great. I have a peavey MIII with a 15 in. cab, but wanted something smaller to lug around. I only play bass part time, mostly guitar.

I play Blues, classic rock, modern, new and original music. With all the feaure. I thought it would be ideal for all musical styles.
I got a good clean sound and the other chanel wass great for soloing. The sub effect was great, but I had to tweak in a small amount to get a real bass sound. too much made it sound way too artificial. Might be good for original ideals though. I really don't use much distortion on bass. I prefer a good clean bottom, with enough treble to be able to slap, but still hear the full sound clearly. Any slight adjustment of the knobs give the amp a totally differant sound. And I learned through trial and error, quick set ups can be a pain if you're in a new club, and not accustomed to how the room will sound before you start the gig. Get there early and tweak the sound to your taste. At home it was great, at the club....not so good. I was unable to match the stage volume of the drummer and the guitar player who using a peavy 50 watt combo. They couldn't hear me either and visibly complained. The XLR direct output worked great, but when I turned the volume past 6 the internal speaker cut out. Luckily the house PA had monitors. I was able to crank some volume back through the monitors and was able to hear a decent sound. It took to the third set to finally dial in a decent stage volume and sound, but for a blues band the bass was not big and fat enough. I play with some old farts, so playing loud is not their thing. I thought sure this amp would be the answer. but it failed. My Peavey MIII, all you have to do is cut it on and play. The next night, I took the peavey

I've been playing seriously bass for 2 years, but guitar forever. I know enough and been around great bass players enough to know how a bass should sound, even if its a combo. I have a GK 1X10, 75 watt which is more poweverfull, and a better tighter sound. If stolen, I would get a fender or peavy combo. I also have a peavey basic 50 which has a better sound. I will give this amp one more try this weekend. And if it passes I may just retract everthing I said, but for now, it doesn't look promising

This is where this amp failed. I recommended this amp and other Behringer amps to people after hearing how nice the BX4500 head sounded. This was a different beast entirely. I play mainly hard rock/melodic hardcore, but sit in with pop and country bands, too and it did not work for any style AT ALL.
This speaker just supports everything that opponents of aluminum cones use to argue against them. It was extremely harsh sounding for slap, yet lacked the punch of the Hartke kickback it was designed to emulate.
I actually did get a decent sound out of it after twirling knobs, setting the drive, and ignoring the Sub-bass feature (this is nothing more than an octave effect, and it does NOT sound good on the E string. The other strings were okay, but what's the point of adding sub-bass to your higher notes)? After having a chance to play on it for awhile, it was returned.
The kicker was the lack of oomph. 120 watts should have pushed this speaker nicely, yet the 30-watt Warwick we were A-B'ing it against in the store produced better tone and more volume. The 50 watt Peavey Minx 110 which replaced it absolutely blew it away.
The combination of nose-wrinkling bad tone and lack of punch is not acceptable, even at this price.

Behringer has a spotty track record, at best. It all depends on what 6-year kid is working in the overseas sweat shop that produces these things. So far no problem with the bx4500 head, but I didn't keep this one long enough for it to break down on me.

It was returned, and the Peavey Minx that was bought to replace it was MUCH, MUCH better sounding, and was exponentially louder.
This was purchased by a student because of my recommendation. It was meant to be a practice/light gig amp so he could hear himself over his drum player. In this respect, it failed. Being a newbie, he didn't know how to get a decent tone out of it, and its power section was severely disappointing. Not very loud at all.
He let me have it for awhile to adjust the settings to sound good, but the more I had it, the less I liked it. I found him the used Peavey and he loves it.
Not a good amp for students, even worse for serious gigging musicians. What a shame, since the BX4500 was such a nice surprise...
Get a used Peavey or even (I can't believe I'm saying this) a Crate at this price range and be much happier.

I am a service tech. This amp came in for repair. Seems that it should not have failed as yet, being a solid state amp. I think mfg in 2001, date code is 1201.
One of the main power amp IC's blew, not a good sign of a good design, but I can't tell why for sure.
Over all the construction is impressive, even over kill, quality FR4 circuit board, surface mount components (hard to service tho), toroidal power transformer, glued down connectors inside? I've never seen any of these ever fall off, so what gives here?

Their email was quickly answered within 24 hours. However, they DO NOT GIVE OUT SCHEMATICS!!!!!
You can only get this fixed at an authorized service center, thank you very much.
I have never been refused a schematic for any other brand I've repaired. You have to pay for Crate, but they can be had fairly cheap. QSC has theirs posted on web site, what a company! Carvin has the best and friendliest service I've seen, quickly emailing me a schematic free of charge for a R400 bass amp.
Buy Carvin, or something else, not Behringer, basically no support

I would not recommend this amp, unless considered a throw away if it breaks. I had to fix this amp blind (no schematic), and succeeded, but most folks would be lost. One of the 2 main power amp IC's blew, not a sign of a good design, but in all fairness I don't know why.
They seem to have good value per dollar, and good solid construction and quality parts, but with this authorized service only attitude, shop somewhere else! There are simply too many other good companies that support their stuff. Can you imagine Fender telling you that yo can't have a schematic? The world would come to an end.
Buy Carvin, they support service techs, they fix their own stuff, and are helpful.

There is better amps out there of course but if your on a tight budget and want a good enough amp for giging with lots of cool sounds go for it!!!
Wish it wasn't as heavy but this is probably due to the sturdy construction. :Apart from some of their minor PA stuff, this is pretty much the only good thing that behringer have made.

Mine is a 2003 amp. I bought it as a practice and teaching room amp due to it having 2 channels, being a combo and having next to no fan or other superfluous noise. Also it was a cheapish solution with a clean straight sound. The features are great, I use the <Tape Out> feture to go straight into my Mac for recording song ideas etc. The DI works fine as well. Headphone out is great for personal practice when my young son is asleep.

The speaker in it is only OK, I find it a little brittle sounding. I play (Mainly) a 72 Fender Jazz with Active EMG pickups which has (to my ears) a beautifully consistent tone. So with this in mind I find the speaker does colour the sound a little. When I plug into my 15" 400w EV cab its sounds just great but maybe this comparison is a little unfair.

It has two chanels, a passive and active inputs, and a foot switch, headphone jack. No external jack for extra cab. It has an ultrabass setting that to me sounds cheezy but the clean sound is good. It is solid state with an aluminum speaker that I replaced, however the original speaker didn't sound that bad. My main criticism of this amp is that it is HEAVY, real heavy!!!

I purchased this amp in Sep 2005. I also have an Ampeg head and 4X10 cab, but found it was really tough to carry around, especially for small venue performances. After doing some internet research, I went to a local music store and tried out the BX1200. The sound was really very good, particularly for the price. The amp has a nice, crisp tone and also sufficient bottom end. Its features include dual channels, Ultrabass (I haven't used this but once or twice, as I have a DSP200 effects box), three band EQ, and a variety of outputs, including XLR. I use the BX1200 as an active monitor on-stage, for practice, and small venues. It has enough power, but the volume tends to flatten out at mid range and further increases are not very noticeable. All in all, for $209 it has a variety of features and a good tone.

I play contemporary Christian and smooth jazz, and the BX1200 works good for both. On stage I play contemporary Christian and use it as a floor monitor with the XLR out going to the house PA. My bass is an Ibanez SR506BM and I use a DSP200 effects pedal. There is some distortion using this configuration, which seems more pronounced on the higher notes. Again, considering the price paid, its sound is more than adequate.

I've found one quirk that potential buyers should be aware of. When playing thru it on stage, the internal speaker quit, but the output kept going fine out to the house speakers. After doing some research, I found that there is apparently an issue with phantom power, in that if your channel has it, somehow it disables the internal speaker but still feeds the output to the XLR. I've had it two months and no breakdowns yet, just that one instance of the speaker shutting down. At this point, I am not confident enough with it to use on a gig without a backup.

I've been playing off and on for 25 years. I also own an Ampeg B1RE head and BSE410HLF cabinet, and a Fender Standard Jazz bass. If the amo were stolen or lost, I would not buy another one. I'd buy a small Ampeg instead, probably one with 1 15 inch speaker in it that would tilt back on stage like the BX1200. Alternatively I'd buy a single small cabinet with one 15 in it and use it with my B1RE head. Again, you get what you pay for. For $209, I can live with it for practice and as an active floor monitor.

I have it since 1,5 years, now. And I guess that it was newly in the store at that point.
It's a small, tilt back combo with a 12" aluminium cone speaker. It has 120 watt's power at 4 ohm, and thats exactly what the build-in speaker is, so you really get the 120 watt's out of it. It can be used beside two guitarplayers and a drummer, playing groove metal.
There are two footswitcable (footswitch included) channels. One with gain control and one with gain and shape controls. Next there's a four band EQ with treble, high-mid, low-mid and bass controls. Then you've got an octave control (also footswitcable), copied from ashdown amps and it ends with the master volume control.
It has a good DI at the back, a headphone jack and active/passive inputs for the bass. Also a pre-amp out, power-amp in and effects-loop.
You can unplug the build-in speaker to connect it to another cabinet.
It has more than a combo should have, so it never comes short.
It's mainly my rehearsal amp, cause we've a small rehearsal room.

It acually sounds great ! Big, rich sound, but not really loud. There are two channel, so you can even do solo-ing, if you wanted to. It's mainly used with an Ibanez EDA 905 bass. This is a 5-string bass and even with the B-string tuned to A, the Behringer delivers !
There's some noise with treble turned way up, but wich amp doesn't have?
The EQ really works fine and the octave function is nice, but I never use it. I want to hear the bass' sound, not the amp's.

I've been playing for 15 years now and I've owned several amp's: A Torque 100, a Crate 160 watt combo, a Crate BT 350 head with two 410 cabs, an Ampeg SVT II tube head (worse head I've ever owned !) and now I'm playing into a BOSS GT-6, through a Crest 900 watt poweramp, into a Peavey 410 cab on stage.
If it where lost I'd buy the bigger brother, the 450 watt ULTRABASS BX4210A. Cause you'd never have to pass it for the price.
I wished I'd waited a little longer, before buying it, cause the was a price-drop after I bought it.

Date code on the amp is 0103, so i assume January 2003 as manufacture date. Solid state, 4 band eq., gain and master volume. It has all the basic features you could ask for in a small combo, 2 channels, xlr out, tuner out, rec in/out, preamp in/out, even a headphone jack; the amp is fan-cooled and is ported in the rear, and I love the kickback/monitor design. Channel 2 is very versatile with the shape control. The amp came with a footswitch for changing channels and toggling the Ultrabass feature. The Ultrabass adds an octave below the note being played, but I have yet to find a setting on it that satisfies me. I had my doubts about whether it had enough power for a gig, but after playing a wedding reception where I had to compete with a Fender Twin and a Peavey Classic, my doubts are erased. This little powerhouse did the job with plenty of headroom to spare and did it cleanly.

My main axe is a Yamaha RBX-260 passive pstyle, I also use a Cort headless with EMG Select pj passives, and (don't flame me for this) a Rogue Lx-205 5 string. I play mostly classic rock and country covers, and this little amp does a good job with it on all my basses.
The amp has a very DEEP and clean sound. Very well suited for my playing style. I haven't had to use it at high volumes, it has plenty of power for small to possibly medium indoor venues. I usually play through a Fender BXR400 with 2-10 and 1-15 cabs, and this little combo actually has a cleaner, deeper sound than the Fender.

I've been playing bass off and on for 26 years. Also have some guitar gear. Yeah, for under $200 I would replace it. I love the sound of this amp and was quite surprised with it's power, the portability and kickback design are great too. I looked at a lot of amps before I bought this one, and now I'm glad I did buy it. For the money, no other manufacturer can touch this little workhorse. Anyone who complains that this amp doesn't cut it is off the mark. No, it won't compete with a 500 watt monster for sheer volume, but why do you need that much power on stage? Use the DI and let the PA do the work.

man this thing has more features on it than you will ever use i dont even know where to begin to be honest with you. i have never seen more bang for your buck. this has 2 channels, but channel one is useless as you cant use the shape knob with it and it sounds very average without the shape. the ultrabass is kinda useless for any practical purpose but is fun to play with. like i said though has a shitload of other features that make it the best value on the market. where else do you get 120 watts and a 12" aluminum cone speaker for 200 bucks? tell me and ill kiss your ass

the sounds really range from mild to wild depending on how you set it and your bass. this thing sounds really wild with my highly customized fender precision and even sounds good with my little squier affinity p bass. this amp is capable of any sound youre looking for and has a lot of volume for what it is. i can hear it plain as day over the drums in my band in the basement though i have never gigged it and i dont suspect i could handle a large hall or outdoor venue. i can really cut through in the mix with this amp and it does have a line out so you can run it into your pa and it tilts back so it makes the best monitor you can imagine. my fender bass really nails the iron maiden tone and with my vintage basses it does well for blues and country as well. it has stood up to abuse so far!this thing just sounds like more money than i payed so for that i am eternally grateful to behringer.

not really sure as it has never left the basement but it takes 2-3 days a week, 4-6 hours straight of real abuse and i dont baby it. i only play fingerstlye and i keep the treble rolled back which can destroy speakers with the thumping tone i use. so far so good, its only been a year

Lotsa features. EQ, 2 channels all that. It has a bass-a-ma-bob thingy that adds am octave lower tone. This is great for playing with the amp turned down low as to not disturb your neighbors. It'lll move the air. Its also good when used in conjunction with a distortion pedal to give the sound a bit more definition in the wash of fuzz.

So far so good. Its not built like a 60's Fender or anything like that. I'm sure it'll fail in a few years. Its a great practice amp. I wouldn't use it as a steady gig or band amp. Plastic, plastic, plastic. Why does it have plastic input plugs?
I'm sure Behringer has a "make it self destruct" engineering dept. like most manufactors do. You could call it what Hyundai is to cars. Its not a classic that is going to last a really long time. Maybe I''m wrong ....

I typically play "alternative" hard rock & my style is fairly progressive. I normally just dial in one tone that I like & leave it there. I typically use different playing techniques to change my sound, so the variety of sounds question is more or less NA in my situation. The bass I play through it is a Carvin 5-string with active electronics.
The sound is relatively clean, but for some reason it seems to lack punch. I like the xlr out, but I assume that feature is relatively standard these days.

Total crap. I dunno, because my only other experience with bass amps has been with (older) Peavy's, so maybe all modern amps are built like this. This one had an input jack(plastic piece of crap) broke on it the very first live gig I brought it on(drunk tripped over it). After about a year of moderate usage, it blew up in a puff of smoke.

I have been playing for around 15 years, mostly live. I don't ever use an amp in the studio.
I definitely got what I paid for with this amp. I had previously purchased a Behringer mixer that I was quite pleased with, which I still own. So I kinda expected more from this amp. After it died, I went back to my old trusty Peavy TKO(?)60 that I bought used when I first started playing. It actually seems more powerful than the 120watt Behringer, although not quite as clean.
I can be quite rough with my gear, but I don't feel that I'm abusive. My Peavy has been through HEYELL! & still works great(it's beer-proof). This is why I will probably look at Peavy's when I go to purchase another amp & definitely not Behringer's. I'm giving it a 1 rating because it really was a waste of my money. Of course, it might be okay if you are playing at church.

This is a brand new 120 w, 2 channel solid state 1x12 bass combo, or 'workstation' as Behringer call it. This is due to the audio in and outputs for rehearsal and recording, allowing the user to play along with any audio source (I use a personal CD player with mine). There is a Direct Output (D.I.) for larger venue use, and headphone socket for silent practice. The combo is presented as a tilt-back cabinet (for monitoring puposes, or just better audibility in band situations), with a 12" aluminium cone driver. There is an external cabinet output, but this is used instead of the internal speaker, rather than alongside it. A footswitch is included to switch channels and engage the 'Ultrabass' effect. Has a 1 unit rack space at the front, above the controls, which would have been better as 2 unit, considering that Behringer's own Bass V-Amp Pro (preamp/modeller)is 2 unit size. Very versatile, however, and unreal for the price!

I generally play rock, indie and pop music, on my American Fender Jazz Bass (passive pickups). This amp has a very punchy sound and projects well, the tone controls are more than adequate for my needs, although some may want fuller EQ control. On it's own the amp has a very strong sound, clean to the top of the scale, with no distortion unless you turn the gain up too high. If you want overdrive however (as I often do, being a fan of John Entwistle), don't rely on this amp alone, as the distortion is unmusical. This isn't a down point to me, as I haven't found an amp under #1000 that distorts well alone. For recording and live use, I use Behringer's Bass V-Amp as a pre-amp, and in this setup, It rocks! Cheesy but true. When I began playing bass, 15-16 yrs ago, I hankered for the sounds I am getting now, and at #189 for the amp, and #79 for the V-Amp, I have an incredible sounding and performing rig for less than the price of my first half-stack, which sounded awful! I'm playing in a stoner rock band right now, we play very loud(competes with a 300w guitar amp and an insane drummer!), downtuned to C, and this works for me. The ultrabass feature is cool, but has limits. I use it generally on lines on the higher 3 strings, as it gets weird on lower notes. This effect is not as strong built into the amp as it is in the V-amp, so I tend not to use it unless I am practising "clean" at home or through headphones. On it's own the BX1200 is a better amp than you can get up to around #500-600, with the V-Amp, you're talking twice that. Only an opinion though, so don't shoot meld get this sound out of a 12" combo. Compact, but heavy, in sound (and weight!).

There seems to be a wealth of wildly varying experiences re. reliability. Thankfully, I am one of the happy ones. Hopefully, this is down to product improvement. I have owned this rig (amp and V-amp)since January (4Mths)and have generally used it flat out at practices (3+hrs every week) and have had no problems. In fact, the value against quality of both Behringer products has led me to feel that I will try other products in the future (mics and PA), and to recommend them to others (guitarist is saving his coin for a Guitar V-Amp). Some people talk of the pots, knobs being weak, but what are they doing with them? They are strong enough for me. I chuck it in a car at leat twice a week.

I can get a good variety of sounds from this amp.the sounds range from punchy and trebley to rich and full.I was surprised how loud it can go keeping in mind that it is only very small.this amp goes great on high volumes.only low notes sound good as high notes sometimes distort.the settings i have make the sound full.i simply turn the bass up,gain up,the volume up,high mid up and shape up.I have treble off,low mid off and ultrabass off.this will provide you with heart thumping low end,i promise.with the volume right up you may get very soft buzzing, cover the strings or touch anything metal on the guitar and its gone.the ultrabass feature is a bit of fun here and there.what it does is it plays back the note you play along with the same note an octave lower.it is a great feature for high notes, but it is silly for playing low notes.the included pedal is rather sturdy and convinient.there are two switches one is to turn on ultra bass the other is to switch between the two channels.i play metal.thats basically it,the amp is great for metal.im not sure about other types of music.

Made in September 2003, bought new. Great features, it has anything you would expect from an amp at this or even twice its price range.Front panel features 2 channels - channel 1 can be used for rhythm, channel 2 comes with a SHAPE filter, great for solos - 4 band equalizer,ULTRABASS switch and knob, volume and two inputs for passive and active. Back panel features XLR out, effects loop, tape in & out, tuner out and speaker out for driving external speakers (not together with the built-in speaker). The amp comes with a 12 inch aluminium cone speaker, which is great for modern sounds, but adds too much treble, so it may not be good if you want to achieve a darker sound. It also has a footswitch for switching the channels and turning on/off the Ultrabass feature. I bought the amp basically for home practising, recording and rehearsals and for this job, the amp is ok. It can also be used for small gigs as a monitor, sending the signal from the XLR to the PA System.I wouldn't consider buying this amp for anything more than that.

Sound is not really a problem but when compared with amps like the Hartke Kickback 12 or Ampeg BA112, it is clear enough why this amp costs much less than other amps in this category.I would consider as problem the fact that it sounds good only at high volumes, but even then the sound is not something to die for. I often use my headphones when practising at home in order to get a decent sound and not disturb the neighbourhood.I also feel that volume changes from 6 and up do not affect the volume level at all. I do not think that it is loud enough for a 120W amp, but it is ok for its intended use.It also seems that it can handle high volume levels without distorting the sound.Channel 2 has a SHAPE filter which can seriously improve the overall sound of the amp and get some nice sounds for solos. The Ultrabass feature is not that usefull but I found that you can get some nice effects when playing in higher notes, not good for rhythm though. The overall feel is that when used at high volumes, in a rehearsal or small gig, you can get some nice, modern and growly sounds, good slap sounds, but not something special.
