This is a 30-watt, 10" speaker combo amp, with active/passive imputs, cut/boast three band EQ, "Shape" filter, pre-amp out, and a tape-in. Also, it has a removable power cord; I know, sounds unimportant, but when you are hauling a bunch of gear not having a power cord hanging down to snag on doorways and such is a good thing. I got this amp as light, portable practice amp as opposed to my stack, so don't worry, I won't complain about an obvious practice amp not being able to overpower two marshall stacks and a drum kit. It has plenty of power to play in unplugged jazz gigs, coffee houses, etc. It is MUCH louder than I would have expected for a $129 amp. All the features I need, none I don't. Also, the mid-band on the EQ actually affects the tone, unlike other cheap brands.

Sound Quality : 9
I play using a MIM fretless jazz bass with reissue '62 jazz pickups, a custom FBB bass with barolini jazz pickups, a crappy Epiphone P-bass with EMG pickups, and an acoustic fretless bass. So, how does it stand up to the different kids of gear? Remarkably well. The base tone is a deep, earthy tone suited to classic rock. However, by boosting the mids and highs, a good punk or prog rock tone can be coaxed out of it. The shape filter is very usefull to get a deep jazzy and R&B tone, but its high-pass end sounds tinny and forced. Its not a very quiet amp, especially when the volume is passed 12 O'clock, but what do you expect? Its very versitile, but doesn't do anything very good; for the price, though, EXCELLENT.

Reliability : 10
Build like a mack truck. And I'm very clumsy, so this thing gets dropped alot.

No problems yet (fingers crossed)

I've been played for about 8 years, and only bass, none of this guitar crap. This is a great semi-pro practice, great for jamming, coffee houses, song writting, and demo recording. Its not meant for playing live gigs with loud guitars and a drum set, so keep that in mind, however. For practically no money, this is a great buy. If it got stolen, I'd definately get another one

Bought brand new from Guitar Center for $119 just a few weeks ago. 30 watt solid state amp with a 10" speaker. Passive/Active inputs, boost/cut for bass, mid and treble. Shape filter, preamp out, poweramp in, tape player inputs and headphone jack.

I didn't want any extraneous features (modeling, for example) so this is perfect for me.

Sound Quality : 10
This amp makes me a very happy camper. I play a Fender MIM p-bass through this and I am very pleased with the tones I get. I am new to the bass (16 years on the guitar) and wanted something to practice with at home. This thing is powerful. Currently, I have volume on the amp at 10 o'clock and the volume knob on my bass at about 30% and this thing fills my apartment. Based on this, I see no reason whatsoever why you couldn't do a small gig with a jazz group or something with this amp unmic'd.

Just a couple notes on the Shape filter. I like this a lot. Turned all the down, or counter-clockwise, you get a very punchy, tight tone. Now if you turn it clockwise (and this is what I like), you start to get the boom - it starts to sound like a 15" speaker and you start to hear some reverb, as noted in another review below. So it comes down to punch vs. boom, depending on your preference.

Seems reliable to me.

2005 Model.
Amp serves it's purpose well. Practice and Cofee House amp.
Active and passive inputs, headphone jack, effects loop, plug and play inputs, the whole nine yards.
For $119.00 you can't go wrong. Has all the features you want for an amp this size and wattage.
I wish it had the Dynabass feature like the BX 600 & 1200.
I use it for low volume and/or small room gigs. It is a LOUD little amp however.

Sound Quality : 9
I use an MIA Jazz Bass and a Wahshburn T-14{Special Edition}.
Jazz has 2 single coils, T-14 has one humbucker.
Amp is a little noisy with the treble turned up but it's not ridiculous. Just about any sound can be coaxed from this amp. Jazz, rock, blues, motown ect. The amp favors a modern tone however.
Plenty of punch and clarity even at high volume.

Reliability : No Opinion
I would use this without a backup it seems solid and well built.

Customer Support : 5
Never dealt with them. I heard that Behrenger is lousy to deal with though. I'll give them a five to be fair.

Overall Rating : 10
Iv'e been playing for 9 yrs. In addition to this I also have an SWR Workingmans 15 which I love but is too loud and rumbly to practice with. Thats why I bought the BX300 and to my suprise it's PLENTY LOUD for a small amp. If it was stolen I would have to get another one.
I like everything about it no complaints.
Compared to other amps this wattage and size this took the prize.
Only the Peavey Minx was as good but it was $100.00 bucks more!
Like I said earlier I wish this amp had the Ultrabass effect like its larger bretheren. If your looking for a good little loud amp get this BX300.

its a 2003 model most likley, it's a 30 watter with a 10" speaker and the useful shape function.

Sound Quality : 4
It gives out good sound at a low volume(2) through my Yamaha RBX 270 but it totally loses it after that. Using a pick with the volume over 3 sounds good but I prefer playing with my fingers. The amp just can't handle the low E string with the volume over 3. Sounds horrible without the shape function off. no enough power to be heard over a drummer at all. also it's hard to find a good sound and usually the next day I'll end up playing with the amp the find a better sound

Reliability : 9
It's fell over and been kicked and is still kicking. Behingers are built to last anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 5
it's an Ok amp if you use a pick , are just a beginner who doesn't have a clue what tone is or if you dont care what you sound like.

This is a basic 30 watt practice-type amp. I bought it because is normally just go direct at gigs through a PreSonus TubePre, and I wanted something behind me to give me a little volume. Unfortunately, 30 watts through 1 10" speaker isn't very much volume.

Sound Quality : 4
I play through an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Bass. The bass has incredible tone through 2 humbuckers.
I ended up returning the amp after about a month because 1) It really had no power, and 2) I was unimpressed with its tonal spectrum.
Any time I would turn the volume past 5 with the bass rolled up above 7 or 8, the speaker would essentially overload and buzz. So any chance for me to get decent volume out of the unit was gone.
The "Shape" feature is interesting, but it is very drastic. I had trouble finding a tone I liked. I play Rock through it, no metal or hardcore, just plain ol rock.

Reliability : 10
Worked fine for the month that I owned it. It's Behringer, they are one of the most reliable brands you'll ever find.

I sold it back simply because it wasn't enough for me.
I'm sure for a beginner who just wants to practice in his room or whatever, it would be fine. As long as you aren't looking for good tone at high volume it's a very good amp.
I own two Behringer mixers that I absolutely love. In general, the bang-for-buck value of their equipment can't be beat. Usually come overloaded with features for an impressively affordable price.
Instead of trying the 60W or 300W models, I'm looking into buying an older Peavey Mark IV head or something similar.

I do recommend this amp to a beginner, as long as they won't need it for gigs or loud practices.

Well, first of all I must point out that I'm a beginner. I bought this little combo because the amount of money to spend for my first equipment was small at that time and I just wanted a small practice amp.

The amp was made in 2003 and has effects loops, a head-phone jack, a three band "equalizer" and a little sound shaping function.

Sound Quality : 4
I use a nice and very playable Yamaha BB404 bass. The bass does not have so much a variety of sound but its a good one for me and my purpose of learning to play the bass. It has two humbucking pickups

It's producing a hissing sound. It's getting very noisy when you turn the volume up (above 2 on a scale of 0 to 12 actually).

The speaker is no good either. Doesn't stand my e-string very good. Made me sort of unhappy to listen to.

The variety of sounds is very limited. In fact the 3-band equalizer is not very effective. The shape function is just little gimmick that does not support you in finding "your" sound very good.

Some frequencies are well brought out. But most of the time there is a light to medium distortion when playing deeper sounds.

Reliability : 7
Well it does it`s job. But sometimes I have to flip the powerswitch multiple times to power it up. Perhaps its just a whacky switch.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Warranty is 1 year after you send in a registration card. Product didn't fail me. So I had no contact with any Behringer support center.

When I was in an instrument store, a salesman told me that Behringer has no good support. He told me that the equipment is so cheap because it is being assembled by fairly workers in china. Well, probably true.

Overall Rating : 3
I have played 5 Months with this thing and am very happy to replace it with a nice Ashdown-Combo. I would never buy it again. The sound is cheap and in no way well defined. It really pisses me of to hear the speaker rattle and the hissing sound when you turn up the volume.

Well, after all it's only a small and very cheap practice amp. I guess therefore you can't blame them very much. But I really would advise against buying one! It really won't make you happy.

I bought this amp new a few months ago from a music store on Ebay. Im assuming its a 2003 model. For a smaller amp, this is very versatile and is great for all my practice needs. It has the same features as listed below, 3-band eq, etc. This was my first bass amp purchase and I was using it for band practice however my drummer plays really loud and I was getting overpowered. I have since then bought a 160 watt crate. Now I shake the walls.

Sound Quality : 7
I usually use my Peavey patriot through this amp. I find the amp to be perfect for practice or playing along with a CD. One thing about this amp, the tone is great...I actually prefer the BX300's tone over my 160 watt crate. The shape filter really helps you dial in whatever sound you want. The "dynamizer" or whatever its called really works well, it keeps the sound from breaking up even at full volume. Its decently loud for 30 watts, you could probably use it for a lower volume, coffee house type jazz gig, although for rock or whatever you need a much bigger amp.

Reliability : 7
It hasnt failed me yet, although ive heard some horror stories about Behringer amps...mine is still fine even after the full volume abuse Ive put it through. I wouldnt gig it because its a practice amp, damnit!

Customer Support : No Opinion
they have a warranty, but Im too lazy to fill out the card.

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing guitar and bass for 3-4 years. I have a Peavey patriot, a Yamaha BB200, and a yamaha F-335 acoustic guitar. If it was stolen id be pissed because I would need a new practice amp, but I wouldnt lose sleep over it. But bottom line, Decent amp with good tone for cheap...

This is a 30 watt solid state combo, "Dynamizer circuitry", three band eq, active and passive inputs, a shape knob and a switch, stereo tape inputs, effects loop, a headphone out. All in all a pretty good feature set for such a small and affordable amp. There is no volume control for tape in though. Also there is no way to switch shape control in an out with a pedal. The eq is very effective.

Sound Quality : 10
I have several basses, P, J, Music Man style and I play classic and modern rock. BX300 can deliver a surprisingly wide range of sounds using 3-band eq and a sweeping shape control from a slapping sound to a thick fat rock sound. In any case the sound is very tight.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's too early to comment on reliability. It seems sturdy enough but only time will tell.

No issues as of yet.

I was tired of hauling around my Trace Elliot AH300SMX (that's a 300 watts big and heavy combo) so I was looking for a compact, affordable and decent sounding amp, which I can carry around. I didn't expect much but still I was put off by several entry level amps including Marshall, Crate and Laney. All of the bass amps I tried at 15-30 watts range sounded thin, boxy and dull. It seemed that in order to get a decent sound I needed to start with at least 60 watts with a big driver, yet this was not what I was looking for. My dealer recommended Behringer and at first I was skeptical; but I gave it a try. Boy, was I surprised? It is cheap (for my country anyway), it is compact and it sounds like a big amp. 3-band eq and shape control make it very versatile. More than suits my needs. I definitely recommend it.

Active and Passive inputs. Dynamizer circuitry. 3 band parametric EQ. Shape Filter (which for those not in the know is a swwepable EQ Contour control). Preamp out. RCA out. headphone out. All at 30watts RMS into an 8 ohm !0" driver.

Sound Quality : 10
I've been playing it with my cheap Jazz copy, my real Fender Jazz and Yamaha active P/J... all which sound pretty darn good. It's a very flexible amp, in all areas except for that of medium -large stages. The 3-band is very effective- better than anything else that was within the price range.

Reliability : 10
It's great. I've actually used this little amp for a couple of lo-fi recordings... then taken it down to the beach house for jamming... then used it for a few cafe jazz style gigs where low volume is everything. I've used plenty of Behringer's Pro Audio gear before in the studio and when mixing live, not to mention as my new 300watt Head for my GK 2x10 and 1x15 rig. you can trust behringer.

Overall Rating : 10
This product is great. It's hard for a Behringer product to NOT be good now. They've already taken the lead in the good value audio engineering market... and now they're conquering the musos. This is my little practice amp (although it's so hard not to use my rig, even when i practice i love to feel it) But it's great for my small gigs and is just another funky amp to own.

I'm using Ibanez SR400 (Passive) with P/J pickups. This is my first "normal" combo (I had a shitty Gorilla before this) which I purchased new with a manufacturer's warranty, and let me tell you the day I got it I started worrying about it being stolen from my apartment! :) I even thought of hiding it.... It has a very powerful output and most of the times I have to play with the headphones on, because the building where I live is shaking and my neighbor starts banging on the wall like crazy! It has only 30W but it's more than I will ever need for the practice needs. My split pickups are noisy, but the amp, I noticed, has a mimimal humm which I presume is normal. The sound is very crisp and clear, it seems to me that the sound could have been more "warm", but that's only my opinion and maybe it's just my guitar that sux. Anyhow, the Shape function is great, I had a Roland combo that had a "Presenece" knob and this one does something of that kind. It's very useful when you practice with headphones, because you can adjust that bass "boom" and be able to hear "the whole" bass sound, instead of just hearing (or not hearing) the boom-boom-boom. You know what I mean? You just have to hear it, it's like adding some reverb ("room" type) but only with (I suspect) a parametric eq built in. When I play along with a drum machine plugged in to the Tape In (another great feature for a practice amp!) you can control overall sound level and it sounds great. It's not an SWR, definately, but it's better than an entry level Fender Bassman, or those Crates which cost not less than 100$ (...) in a Guitar Center, the thing is, you don't see Behringers in the stores, otherwise I'm sure people would have bought them all! I played it once in a medium-size club and we hooked it to the board through Preamp Out (1/4) and it was kicking ass! Then the guy had to just live it on by itself! And it was still kicking ass! No overloading or distortion of any kind. That "operational" humm that I've mentioned in the beginning is pretty much absent when you play it through headphones or use a line out (preamp out) to record. I mean, come on, you can't ask for too much! I can't think of anything else a practice amp needs, really, it serves my needs perfectly, it's what it is, man, a 30W combo ideal for home practicing or small-club giggin!

Reliability : 10
It has a sealed cabinet, and seems to be very well built. It's made in China, but I guess the company has a very good quality control and does not allow crap on the market. The knobs are a little too easy to adjust but they stay at the adjusted level alright so can't complain about that. I found the power cord to be very short :) and that's my only complaint! :} As a practice amp, it can't get any better!

Customer Support : 10
I've registered the product online but haven't heard from them. However, their website is very well thought-out. Check it out before getting the combo: www.behringer.com -- it has all the good photos, details, and manuals. I was looking for some information on the retailers who sell these amps but could not find any, so I got this baby from MusiciansFriend.com on my own risk and I will strongly recommend their services. They rock. Fast shipment, secure UPS delivery, what else can one need. And, last but not the least the price that this thing is sold for is a bargain!

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, I am very satisfied because I got what I wanted: a versatile practice combo at a reasonable affordable price! It's not a cheapo kinda crap, it's a very high-quality piece of equipment and make no mistake in it's family of small sized combos it kicks Fender in the balls! Yeah baby! Good luck.
