I think this was made in 2003.I bought it in January 2004 when my power amp crapped out and I needed something quick and cheap.I won't go into all the features except to mention that the octabass works as well as any other, you can't use most bass octave effects below the"E"on the "A" string anyway, however when you kick it in via the footswitch there is a slight pause with a slight pop before it kicks in.This can throw your timing off if you like to punch it in here and there and could be a pain in the butt if you're going directly through the P.A.It's just an extra anyway and shouldn't be a deciding factor in buying this amp.I'm used to using more power than 300 watts but it delivers an honest 300watts and powers my 4 ohm genz benz four ten XB cabinet nicely.I haven't tried the XLR out through a big P.A.yet so I don't know how quiet or noisy it may be.

I'm using a japanese Squire P bass with a basslines pickup.a 75 fender jazz reissue with flatwounds,an ESPseries 400 jazz bass, and a VMI Blade P bass copy with a Dimarzio model P pickup. It sounds O.K.with all of them, but it sounds really goood with the Blade! It's the cheapest bass I own!I play rock & pop from the 50's to current with 3 or 4 different bands.I haven't had this amp in a quiet enough place to judge how noisy it is ,but I haven't noticed any hiss or hum thatbothers me any.I'm in a houseband in a local bar and that's where it mainly gets used. You have to fool with it to get good tones{theshape control is the key here} but they are in there! If you're a distortion hound you'll need a pedal ,but it delivers a punchy, ballsy, tone for a basic Fender player. As I mentioned earlier it delivers an honest,loud,300 watts into a 4 ohm load.

I've only had it since Jan.2004.I bought it as a backupfor my big rig and have only used it about 20 times since. It has performed fine every time. The tone knobs and front panel switches seem fairly cheezy and I would put a cover or blanket around it to protect the front panelwhile traveling. The amplifier itself seems quite rugged. There's agood sized transformer inside and although it's a small head it weighs over 30 pounds! Since January it's stayed in my car during subzero & broiling weather and has always worked fine.I haven't had it long enough to judge.

I've called Behringer USA about a small mixer they make that I own and they were very helpful.Ihaven't had to deal with them on this yet{hope I don't have to} I've heard and read some horror stories about Behringer service, but it seems to me they are doing the best they can to rectify this. When I called them I actually got to speak with a human being!

I've been playing well over 3o years[I'M 51years old] I also own a Nemesis two ten combo amp,a Carvin DCM1000 power amp,a tech 21 Sansamp,a GenzBenz XBfour ten tweeter cabinet and god knows whatelse if I looked around some.Over the years I've had a truckload of gear!A lot of players are gushing over this amp mainly because of it's price/performance ratio, which is very good indeed! However this is not an "A"level product. You are NOT going to get that high end treble sheen or that tight full low end bloom and headroom that you get with seperates or an upper level head. What you are going to get is ballsy, punchy, tone that'll suit an old school Fender player just ducky. It's great for rock, metal, country, old school soul, and funk. This is a great 1st amp for players starting out. It's great for players who double on bass and don't want anything too expensive.A pro{I am]can play it and not be ashamed. It's a LOUD 300 watts. I bought this as a backup and I use it more &more. This is a great barroom brawler bass amp. Some players I work with actually prefer it's tone over some of my other gear! It's an ideal spare.I would buy another if it got lost or stolen.A good basic utility amp for the working bassist. It's better than a lot of stuff that costs twice as much.If the reliability isn't a problem,it'll be a budget winner!Even with the price hike, there is nothing better in it's price range!I'll give it a solid grade of"B"! C'mon Behringer! Build a 600 watt version!

I've been playing and performing for 40+ years (yes, I'm an old guy). I'm primarily a guitarist, but this very hot bluesy band lost their bass player, so there I am. I use the amp through a home-made cabinet which is an identical copy of a 60s Sunn cabinet. It's got a 15 inch EVM. I have 2 of these cabinets, but so far have only used 1 at a time. Before I got this amp I was using a Fender Twin to power my bass cabinet. My bass is a Hohner Steinberger 5-string, active electronics. Bought it in Germany. Can't beat the price for the performance, so if it were stolen, I'd most likely get another one.

I play in a down-tuned 5 piece metal band so I don't use many of the features on the amp. The input meter is a nice alternative to the usual LED, it allows you to see exactly how much headroom you have left in your preamp, which is a nice feature for an aggressive player.
The 5 band eq is perfect, it provides the perfect amount of control. I always found 3 band eq's to lack control and the 7 and 10 band eq's on some more expensive amps were to much of a hassle to set up. I ussually keep the deep switch on and I use the shape switch to change between a more mid-ranged sound for generic riffs and a deep booming sound for slower heavier riffs.
I only use the UltraBass for one song, and it is used to achieve a specific effect and is then turned off, when it does work it sounds very nice but on the Low A and E strings (and even the high A string) it doesn't track too well and cuts out. The bright switch doesn't seem to accomplish much so I usually leave it off.
My band usually plays in medium sized clubs and halls and the occasionally auditorium gig. For our last gig we played in an auditorium built to hold 2000 people. So I make extensive use of the DI output, some soundpeople have told me that the amp sounds great while others complain that there is alot of noise in the output. I personally find that the amp is reletively Hum-free unless the mid control is boosted outrageously.

Since my rig is basically a glorified stage monitor, and my budget is tight, I do not place too much emphasis on tone at this time. I plug the amp into a Madison MAS18D, which is an 18" subwoofer cab, and use that as an onstage monitor and let the sound guy set the tone as he pleases.
When not with my band, I sometimes play punk rock with a few friends, for this I bring along an old cabinet loaded with a 15" Crate driver salvaged from an old BX100, with that setup the tone is great, lots of warmth and lots of low-end power.
I'll admit that this amp doesn't have the tone of a tube bass amp, or even the tone of some high-end SS amps, but this amp also only weighs in at 30 lbs and I don't have to worry about cracking tubes in transit.

I have had the amp for a few months now, my band plays an average of 4 shows a month, I know it's small but were still building a following, and we practise once or twice a week. The amp is transported to every show and practise and the drive is about 40 minutes each way, so this amp sees a fair amount of abuse in transit. The amp has held up well under these conditions and I'm certain that I will get to use this amp for a long time. The amp is never hot, even after leaving it on for a few hours or cranking it fairly loud for a 40 minute set.

I have been playing bass for 5 years, I play many styles of music besides what I play in my band, included punk, rock and the occasional country jam with my girlfriends family. I use a 4-string Washburn PJ bass and a Jay Turser P bass, as well as a few effects, Ibanez Bass Synth and RFX Stereo Chorus. This amp is versatile enough to produce loud, low end volume for my metal band and still be able to have a warm mid-range for playing other styles such as punk rock.
Since there is not Behringer dealers close by, the nearest one is an hour away and I have to drive there twice (once to order it and once to pick it up) I'm considering buying another amp as a backup in case the worst should happen.
Before this amp, I played a Crate BX100 and borrowed a Yorkville BM400 for large gigs, I love the concept of having a head/cabinet setup and being able to carry to seperate components, a 30 lbs head and a 40 lbs cab as opposed to a 60 lbs and 80 lbs respectively combo amp.
Many people are reluctant to buy this head because of it's low cost, they think that the head will be low quality. I disagree with this line of thinking, I love this thing. I, as well as a few others, at the Geek Chat forum have tried this amp out and as a result of our reviews many others have opted to save a few hundred dollars and buy this amp over highly overpriced amps from other companies. So far, none of us have been disappointed and I don't see anyone being disappointed with this amp.

I just bought a second BX3000T. Both amps are 2004 models. I have been using David Eden gear for the past 5 years. I bought the 1st head as a pratice head for the house. My bass rig was stolen so I bought a 410xlt and a 210xlt cabinet used at guitar center. I use the 410 cabinet for most jobs with the Behringer BX3000t. It is as good as my old Eden WT500. I set the tone controls flat and push bass and treble boost, push in the contour roll it up 1/2 way. The only thing I notice is I have to run the output knob up as the night gets louder. If I just increase my volume on the bass the overload light will start coming on. It was the same with the Eden. The 210xlt cabinet I bought was 4ohms and the 410xlt was 8ohms. The amp would run both cabinets at 2 1/2 ohms but the 210 cab got more power and I don't like the tone of the 210 as well as the 410. With both heads this rig is very serious. It sounds great and you can run it stereo or use one head as a slave, or do as I do take the DI from the 1st head and run it to the input of the 2nd. That way I can set each head for its cabinet and get a good balance. I used the ultrabass feature on a song the other day its OK but a little goes a long way. I play in a 3 peice classic rock band and tone is everything. Would I buy another one, I already did. These amps are way louder than the Eden and 2 were 1/2 the price of a new Eden. I have used a lot of Behringer stuff and never had problems. Some of the small jobs we play I just use the 210 and DI the head into the PA. I play an American 1998 Fender Jazz, 4 string with Bass Lines SJB-3's. I belive the eden cabinets are the best cab's made, I don't know how the head would sound thru something else and I really don't want to find out. I had a 1971 SVT Ampeg, and this set up would blow it of the stage. The Ampeg would get hot about 3 hours into a show and start giving up. I don't think these heads are very heavey as stated in another review, the SVT was heavey. I play about 130 jobs a year, and pratice everyday so I will know in a year how these amps hold up. Thanks

I won't run through the features. Everyone else has. I love that it comes with a pedal (a very nice one) for the UltraBass and Shape functions. However, the UltraBass is next to useless unless used very sparingly. Don't need to crank it to notice it. Otherwise your bass starts to sound like a church organ or something. I wish they substituted some other effect for this.

I use an Epiphone Thunderbird and Schecter Model T bass through this amp. Both sound great through it. You can get a ton of different sounds with this amp by using the Deep, Bright, Shape, and Ultrabass features. I play rock and punk and this amp gets it. Just a very loud, clean sounding 300 watts. You'll need a pedal if ya want any distortion.

I have used this amp at one gig only and without a back up. In fact the band that followed us used it too because their bassist was having problems with his amp. After two sets in a row this thing was as cool as a cucumber! Plus I got a chance to hear the amp from the perspective of an audience member and I thought it sounded great. This thing is heavy as can be and seems really solid.

I just plugged the amp into a CARVIN 15" cabinet yesterday for the first time. I need a deep solid sound and what i got from the 3000T was so much more fat than when i was playing with the 120W 12" combo that Behringer makes. I wish that the 300W amp had 2 channels like the 120W combo does. NEVER hit a low-end note with the ULTRABASS on because you will hear the ugliest sound in the world, but it sounds really nice on the D and G strings. For a solid state amp it is fat (and to be redundant from everyone else's reply) amp for it's cost.
its still no Ampeg.

I play a very mellow melodic deep bass and it gives me the fatness that the 120W never provided. It is loud and deep, especially into the Carvin 15". I can't wait until I can afford a 2x10 cab to pick up the high ends. With the options of 2 speaker outs it wont be a problem. It also has a very clear direct out into the mixing board. I tried a whole lot with it right away to see how far I could push it. It has given me everything I've ever wanted, but it is only compared to the same companies 120W combo. I've plugged into Ampeg, GK, and SWR amps when I've been in music stores (man i hate music stores) and the Behringer is not one of those, but it is pretty economical and nice. The VU meter is neato in a dark room.

Woah it's heavy for it's size. It is solid-solid. It is German engineering and Chinese labor, it might break it might not... chances are it wont. The 120W amp has served a very rough treatment in high heated attic practice sesssions. Both have fans, the 3000T's is bigger though (bot quiet), and Behringer has a great technology that will shut off amps before they blow the speaker or before the circuits overheat... smart German guys. I haven't had this head long enough to mess it up, but it gives me great hope.

I have not dealt with anyone but a Behringer rep/salesmen in the area who was really nice. We have a Behringer mixing board that has a bad part and we've been waiting for 3 months for the part... but we have a feeling it has something to do with the music store we bought it from. I can't give this a rating, but I can tell you that the Kansas City area salemen is a nice guy.

I am a converted guitar player who owns an off-brand soft back acoustic, a Dean Exotica FM acoustic/electric, a (first bass) Yamaha bass, an Epiphone Thunderbird (not the dumb black one), Fender RAD guitar amp, Behringer 120W 12" combo, now the Behringer 300W head. It feels really strange to list everything you own, but as you can see I've stayed pretty cheap in everything I have ever had. If this head were stolen I'd have to get the Behringer again if i wanted to be able to afford books when classes started back up. Compared to tube amps that have a whole lot of power and warmth... this amp is kind of a drop off. For a broke musician who wants something loud and reliable, this is a good product. I scribbled out the B in ULTRABASS and it makes me giggle.

Easily covers all modern bass sounds I'm familiar with. Does the powerful midrange bite thing very well, can go super deep or classic mellow. There aren't any sounds that I want to play that this amp can't execute well. punch-a-plenty
<BR><BR>
i am using this with a fender p-bass and ampeg 1x12. haven't tried it with envelope filter yet, which is the only other effect i ever use besides octave. the built-in octave works w/o issue for me (of course the lower octave doesn't sound great thru a speaker when you play below the a-string; that's why nobody has a bass that goes down past that range).
<BR><BR>
i have an art levelar (very nice, very cheap tube compressor) that i used with bass until i got this. to me the BX3000t sounds subtly compressed by itself, tho the manual says that the built-in thingy is a limiter (doesn't mention compression). who knows - sounds great to me, saves me from having to box up the desktop compression unit for every gig.
<BR><BR>
for (desktop) recording i still plug directly into the board and use a bit of tube compression. for recording, i think the best approach is direct with a great passive bass... the DI in the BX3000t is great for live, tho; that saves another piece of gear.

I have a "classical" guitar performance degree (plus I'm pretty good on that instrument - how bout that!) so i think I'm probably a little more - i don't know.. astute? - than the average weekend warrior/guitar-player-makin-extra-$$$ bass player; i can go from dark to honkin' with just RH technique. having said that, i haven't owned a lot of bass gear. in college i used a much more expensive SWR head and 4x10 cab on long-term loan from my roommate, and the BX3000t appeals to me much more than that thing did. i get a lot of sounds i like out of it, and the price is sooooo nice. it also seems easier to dial in a great sound.
<BR><BR>
Bass is a second for me, so i may be missing some of the nuances, but my impression is that this head is plenty good enough for any kind of work where you don't have to impress people with the logos on your gear. It has plenty of tools for sculpting a sound, and every sound is very high quality. Plenty of power and punch. For the price there is nothing close that I could find.

Purchased March 2004. Replaced March 2004.
Decent EQ and contour control allow just about whatever sound I need. Included footswitch for ultrabass (octaver) and shape (contour) is a nice touch though I don't use the ultrabass much. The ultrabass doesn't track too well below the A string.
300 W is more than enough power for my current uses - rehearsals, small clubs. Too much power for my church. Not a 10 because it lacks notch switches I got used to on my Fender BXR amp.
The unit never gets very warm, and the cooling fan on the back doesn't seems to pipe out much hot air, so it appears the cooling system is well designed.

The amp is running an Avatar B210 cab. I play an Ibanez TR500 Expressionist. The active EQ on the bass helps out in getting the thick blues sound I look for. Switch off the bass's active EQ, and you'll find the preamp on the BX3000T is lacking. The amp does well for all varieties of rock, except you'll need a pedal if overdrive is your thing. It is a bit noisy.

1 year warranty. Having had the amp for two weeks and having power cycled it at most 20 times, the power switch broke. The switch could still be toggled back and forth, but the internal mechanism was stuck on. I give this category a 2 instead of a 1 because I would have reached peak frustration only if the amp had been stuck off.

300 W for $200 - I guess you can't go wrong. I needed lots of power for not much money, which is why I bought this amp and would probably replace it if it were stolen. In that situation, though, I might check out the Ashdown model the BX3000T is cloned from. I definitely wouldn't do a large event without a backup. The quality of the power switch is probably a reflection of the overall quality of other components in the amp.

I bought my BX3000T in early 2004, so it was probably made in 2004.
This amp is capable of a large variety of sounds. It fits mine perfectly (punchy/low bass, with mid range snap). It gets trebly to , if that is what you desire.
I don't use the sub harmonizer feature. It works okay, but s it does not fit my style. A flanger would have been more useful.
It is powerful and I would not be surprised at all if it did produce 300 watts RMS into 4 ohms. For the majority of playing that I am likely to do, the power of this head is more than adequate.
I used to own an Acoustic 370 (two actually), which is the pinnacle of bass amp heads. It was no big let down using the BX3000T.

Currently, I'm using a Fender Precision Bass w/Rotosound flatwounds, two SX Fender clone basses, two OLP MM clones, a Hamer Slammer short scale Gibson EB3 knock-off and two really neat SX shortscale Fender knock-offs. Each can be adequately tone adjusted. The tone circuitry of the BX3000T has lots of latitude for adjustment.
I'm not into distorted bass and haven't heard any, except when the wife inadvertently overloads the front end of the Behringer with very strong thumbing. Any other amp I've ever used would do the same thing.
I use this amp head at home mostly and will take it with me gigging as a backup to my Acoustic 370 or Carvin R1000.

This amp is truly a great value. I know it's hard to believe that you could actually buy anything decent for under 200. But with Behringher they did it! Even when I pulled the unit out of the box I was impressed with the quality. They put a pretty damn big transformer in this thing (the amp weighs 30+lbs)..its just amazing how they can sell it so cheap....chinese labor?
I know all you amp snobs out there are laughing at this review, but I could give a shit about what you think......I paid 1/5 of what most of you have spent, and I would bet I sound as good or better!
