I bought it new in 2006. I play everything from acoustic-based music through swing through to rock.
Amp has fairly standard controls, a nice touch is the ability to plug in a cd/minidisk etc to practice along to. It has good connectivity options (DI, headphones, etc) for the price. Only one guitar input which is perhaps its weak point.
What really lifts this amp is the shape function (not footswitchable). You can eq for one bass and then use the shape function to eq completely differently for another. I found it great when swapping from an electro-acoustic bass to a fretless. Easy peasy,no faffing around.
Power is 60 watt and it is a loud 60 watt. Plenty for smaller gigs and you can always DI for bigger ones

With this amp I play mainly electro-acoustic bass and a fretless electric but I have tried it with Gibson and Rickenbacker basses. I find its got a very good range of tones. I haven't experienced any distortion or noise and every guitar I've tried it with sounds good after a bit of eq.
This is a very capable amp, especially for the money (??80). OK- its not going to thrash an Ampeg stack for example but it holds it own against most other amps I've used in terms of tone. 60 watt is fine for small venues.
If you want a simple, good sounding combo it is definitely one to consider

Have gigged with it, no problems, never broken down so I can't comment on this area.

I've been playing for 36 years. Own SWR, Ashdown and Roland gear and far too many basses.
The only thing I can mark this amp down on is that it is heavy and large for its wattage- its almost the same size as my swr workingmans' 12 which is twice as powerful. However, don't get the idea its a backbreaker- as bass gear goes it isn't that heavy. Even a wimp like me can carry it in one hand!
I'd rate it as a nice, solid, good sounding 60 watt combo that is easy to use. Good value and well featured.

This amp has 1 channel with a shaping option (unfortunately not footswitchable). Also a very good EQ.

It actually sounds fantastic for the price I paid for it. I use it with a Fender Jazz bass, and the shaping allows you to really play with the tone.
THIS IS VERY INPORTANT TO ALL USERS OF THE BEHRINGER BX600!!!!!
It will buzz and rattle from time to time, and this is how to fix it!
First of all, the mesh stuff on the front of the amp is attached to a board that is velcro'd on, so all you need to do is pull it to get it off. Check the screws and make sure that they are all tight. Next, unscrew the speaker and take it out of the box. If it is a 50 watt sub, you have a factory defect and Behringer should replace it for free with a 100 watt speaker (increases volume considerably).
If is already has the updated speaker, the screws are tight, and the amp is still rattling, look on the bottom sound holes beneath the speaker on the front. The black covering that goes all over the oustide of the amp stops just a few inches into those holes, and if it comes loose, it will rattle loudly and you will have no idea why. TO fix this, just tape them or glue them back to the wood.
This information could prove to be very valuable to owners of this amp. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help so feel free to send an email.

This is a great amp with poor craftsmanship. If you know what you're doing and fix all of its defects (and there are many), it can be better than most amps 3 times it's price. I rely on it, but keep a screw driver handy just in case.

I bought this amp used a while ago, and through the time I've had it it's been in need of constant repairs and adjusments. The amp sounds fantastic and is unbelieveably cheap, and it also boasts enough power to safely get you through most gigs. If you don't mind having to fix it regularly, this is a great amp and unquestionably the best in its price range.

Bought it new in December, 2004. Nice set of features for what it is. It is, as the other reviewer said, very loud for a 60 watt combo amp. Nice 12" woofer installed. I bought it for a practice/church amp, and I have to say that it's about 5 pounds heavier than it probably should be for that purpose. Nice set of features for the price, and nice tone with the "shape" feature. You can not run an extension cab (it's a 60 watt amp). It does have a direct line out (post EQ) that works well for the PA input; however, be advised that the signal is not completely noise free.

Sound is actually great for its category. The 4 band-EQ or Shape function can dial in a number of tones easily. It's loud for it's size. It costs 150 dollars. What more do you want?

It's been reliable for me, but I'm giving it an 8 because five times, for no reason, the volume level has "dropped" inexplicably for me. It's always been rectified by turning the amp off and then back on, but it's puzzling nonetheless.

Good practice/small venue combo amp. I've been playing for 20 years (out), and if you want to use this in a church setting, I'd advise either using it as your stage monitor (and put your sound through the PA). Where this would REALLY shine would be in small clubs at a jazz/blues gig with a guitar/bass/drum trap set trio. That would ROCK!

i purchased this amp new in 2002 for $150. It has 4-band eq plus shape, effects loop, aux in. The amp is well featured for the price. It is rated at 60 watts, but it is a very loud 60 watts, thanks in part to the ported cab. I bought it as a practice amp and stopgap rehearsal amp until i could afford something that better suited my needs. For practice it was more than adequate. I regularly rehearse with this amp with a drummer, and guitar player with a 60watt tube amp (fender hotrod). It keeps up in this environment.. but just barely..

I have a fender american jazz for many styles. my band mostly plays classic rock and maybe some radiohead and stuff like that. i'd say the tone of this amp is adequate. It can get a variety of average-sounding tone. You will really get anything that is truely amazing, but hey.. you get what you pay for.

I am in college and as a part of my playing scholarship, i have to play bass in the college pep band. Believe it or not, i use this amp in an arena that holds 7000 people with pretty good results (and a little help from the house p.a.) I have taken it on trips by bus and airplane with minimal protection and it held up really well. After a recent trip, it developed a sort of rattle and wasn't as loud. I re-sealed the cabinet from the inside with some caulk and it's back to normal. Not bad for the price.

I have been playing for 10 years. I own an Ampeg SVT-350h that i use for serious gigging and rehearsal, but the little behringer has been invaluable for my work for the college and just the convenience of having two amps around. As stated earlier this thing gets some pretty dull tone, but thats alright. it sounds like a bass, it's plenty large, and thats what really matters
