The features of the amp are awesome and the 4 tubes add even more versatility to your sound. It's a powerfull 550 watts with a responsive 9 band e.q. and a valve driver feature. It runs quite cool, given what it puts out and having everything fan cooled really helps. They aren't kidding when they talk about shaping your sound with this amp. You can dial in a classic "Lemmy Killmister" growl just as quickly as you can dial in crystal clear clarity. Features are tops!

I play mainly a Fender American Standard Jazz Bass with stock pickups AND a Cremona upright doghouse bass with a K&K Sound Max pickup system (built-in premap). Electrically, I play rock, punk, metal and country and each style sounds great through this head. As before, it's so easy to dial in you sound. On the upright, I play rockabilly and honky-tonk and the tone is amazing. I have the amp going through a 4x10 cabinet & a 1x15 cabinet. Basically, the 4x10 does the job with this amp!

Reliability : 8
Only used it a few times, but each time set to my stage volume during band rehearsals. Can't wait to play it out live. I would double check your cabinets are rated to the head....but I recommend that ALL THE TIME. As always, mind your clipping too. The Bugera has good headroom for that. I can't really make a concrete call on it's reliability as I've only played through it a few times, BUT HEY, So far, so good.

Haven't had to go this route yet.

I've been playing bass for about 30 years now. I have 2 Fender BXR200 combo's that I still love, but I needed the extra headroom. Went through a Gallien Krueger 1000RB which was a complete waste of time before I chanced on getting the Bugera. GLAD I DID! If I had to compare this amp to any other, it would have to be an Ampeg SVT. In my experience, I've also played through an Acoustic 370, Peavey TNT, Ampeg SVT, Fender Bassman400, Trace, SWR and a Traynor Monoblock to name a few. This Bugera BVP5500 kicks serious arse!!

I was looking around for an inexpensive bass head, and then I came across the Bugera BVP5500. This new company has released guitar amplification recently with fantastic reviews. I searched for reviews everywhere for this item but couldn't find one anywhere, so I decided to give it a shot, for only 399.99 it was worth it. 550 watts,4x12AX7 valves, 9 band graphic equalizer, and an included foot pedal to mute or turn the graphic equalizer on and off. Plugged it into my Avatar B212 Neo, and almost fell asleep because the tone is so warm. I am a solo bassist and I mainly write tapping compositions and this is the perfect setup for that type of music.

I play a Fender Jazz with just stock pickups and the tone I can get by manipulating the head is insane. If you like to have total control over the different sounds and tones your bass can play, then this is the perfect head for you. Bugera says you can sculpt the tone on their website and they are right. It has a button for ultra low to get the deep rich bassisest of low notes without getting distorted at all. Also a ultra bright setting for really crisp high notes. I only need to turn the master up to 4 to start shaking the pictures on my walls, God only knows what 10 will sound like.

Reliability : 10
Very solid, it is pretty heavy but sturdy. I have had it for a couple of weeks now and it's still going strong. I haven't played a show with it yet, but I can only imagine how it will sound.

I have been playing bass for 5 years now and this is by far the best set up I have ever played on. If it were stolen I would cry and start saving up for a new one. I absolutely love the tone manipulation and the 550 watts are a plus as well. It looks awesome and you kind of have that wow factor of having a head that no one's ever really heard about. I play a lot of distorted parts and this head makes the distortion really come to life. I don't hate anything about this amp other than the weight. I have played through an Ampeg B-2RE and the Bugera sounds just as good if not better than it. For anyone out there looking for an inexpensive high quality bass head, Bugera is your answer.
