I can't remember when this amp was made. It's maybe a little 10 years old. Yes this a very versatile amp. classic rock, Jazz originals, blues. This amp has two channels. No channel switching. This is just a stereo power amp with bridging. parrallel, ground lift and stereo.I use this for most gigs. In side out and out. I configure the speaker cab to match the volume I will be neeeding. This has all the power I need.

I have 8 basses with just about every pick-up style in both active and passive modes, Some are switchable on the active and passive like the six string. This is a very quite amp. All that I can hear is the coolong fan at certain lower columes, like not playing a note. This amp procuces a flat response and uncolored. Some say that the DCM amps sound more like a tube amp, I'm not sure about that. If had mosfet transistors, those neat transistors I love because it emulates a tube sound. Very little harmonic didtortion on high volumes. very little distortion, but again I don't play at distortion settings.

I have one problem with amp. It trips gfi circuits, you know those troublesome protective circuits to keep idiots from getting electrocuted. They are called grounf fault circuit interrupters. The newer ones don't seem to be so touchy. I ordered another DCM 1500 to replace the one I have now. I talked to the Carvin tech and he was really helpful. He will walk me through on the phone to test the most likely areas that this problem could be comomg from. This beats a working schematic. But now I will have a back-up rig on the stage when until this is sorted out.

While dealing with this company, Carvin, they have been re accomadating. Except for one sales rep who when talking about trading it in for a new one or trading it in for a refurbished unit. The amp was on sale on the internet which he didn't even know. So I taking my chances in solving this little problem. My amp is way out of warranty.

I started playing when I was 16. I'm now 60 I could tell you some great stories. I own a SVPCL ampeg preamp. What a great sound.I love everything about the amp except for going dead on the stage because of a gfi.
