Features are explained elsewhere. The features do give me the versatility to get the sounds I want, but keep in mind it is a pretty basic rig. The bass and high buttons are a nice little feature for when you need a little extra.

I play in a rock band (www.theparticleseven.com) that demands punchy sounds that can cut through loud guitars. The amp, for the most part, delivers. It can distort a little at high levels, but this really depends on your cabinet setup. It is not noisy, however. It can compete and sound good in practice or small gig.

Unlike a lot of complainers on here, my Carvin has been a workhorse. It has taken quite a bit of abuse (playing loud, transporting, etc.), and I have never had a major problem of any kind. I use it and don't have a backup.

I have been playing for 15 years--had this head for 3. This amp is not the greatest thing in the world (duh, see the price/power), but it is a solid, reliable amp for practicing with band and playing in small gigs (bars). I don't mic it or anything. If gone, I would buy whatever I could afford. For the money, this amp does well.
