Decent weight (115 lbs.), very sturdy, 1000W RMS (more than the Ampeg SVT810).

I play different styles of music through different basses using different EQs on my Carvin R1000 head and the cabinet delivers all the tone I need. It really thumps the low end due to a single 8x10 front enclosure (the SVT810 is split into two 4x10s), and the Redline horn works fine, although I usually have it at -6dB or so. Without compression, however, notes between the tenth and fourteenth frets on the E-string at a high volume typically generate enough low end to make the speakers distort. Compression or a less heavy right hand fix that problem.

Gigged with it, toured with it, haven't had a single problem. Beaten the crap out of mine and have knocked some corner pieces off but it's no worse for the wear. I'm not a huge fan of carpeted cabs just because they tend to look ratty, but it sure looked good when it was new!

Warranty time is standard (1 year). I'm long past the warranty period but I've never had to even think about using it. I am a big fan of Carvin.com, not for customer support really but just to mess around with the custom bass creator.

Admittedly, I have owned quite a bit of Carvin stuff (R1000 head, R600 head w/ 2x10 combo, RL410 cab, RL118 cab, two Carvin basses) but probably my favorite piece is my 8x10 cab. I work for a music store so I have the ability to purchase an Ampeg SVT810 for less than I can get an 8x10 through Carvin, but I would grab another Carvin in a second. Obviously I'm aware that better gear exists on the market but I simply can't afford most of it. Personally, I would buy Bergantino or Mesa cabs if I had the cash... but for what you pay, Carvin stuff definately rocks the value.

First of all, I had to post my own review onaccounta all the negativity in a couple of these others.
I got it in...lesse'...january of 2002.
What can I say...this amp is perfectly suited to my needs.
I find it to be quite versatile, when combined with the proper head.
Incidentally, I've used this amp for countless practices and about 5 stage performances.
Playing with 2 guitars, vocals and drums; I was constantly gritting my teeth upon hearing "turn down, you're way too loud".
This, of course was due to fundamental flaws in the way they chose to set their levels...but still, I could easily have drowned everyone out with the [Carvin R600] volume set to 4.
So, needless to say, more than enough power for any application I have ever needed it for.

The sound I usually went for was a full, clear sound with a touch of gainy grind.
Tough shoes to fill, if you're as picky as I am about your sound.
No problem for the RL810, though.
But, I could easily get it to give me a sweet low-end purr without even touching the amp...because, let's face it, who wants to go messing with their whistles and bells in the middle of a song?
I can't say exactly how much of this can be attributed to the cab itself or the head being used...but I always got what I wanted from it.

Tough as all-get-at.
I would (and did) gig it with no backup (besides, what kind of rich bastard has a backup 8x10???)
Jagoff friends of mine got the privilege of borrowing this cab for a show and DROPPED IT OFF A TRUCK.
Luckily, it was fine...they were even able to lie to me about it with me none the wiser.
I only gavce it an 8 because, while it has never broken down on me...I don't just go throwing my numbers around all "willy-nilly"...I hope it never gets tested to suit my "10" standards, because I don't think any cab could take it and survive.

Never needed to deal with them in regards to my cab or head, but I once ordered a left handed neck and some tuning keys from them and they sent me right handed keys with a left handed neck.
I will never forget that.
But, all the times that I've spoken with them they seem to be very well spoken, honest and helpful.

I've been playing about 5 years.
I've had a couple of basses go to the graveyard in my day, nothing too bad, though.
I chose this cab because I love the way carvin does business...what with the "pass the savings on to you" and all that jazz...and they haven't disappointed.

This cabinet works for me...8 10in speakers in a easy to move cabinet that weighs in at 115 pounds. Wheels built in on cabinet for easy moving and Large handles at the top for getting your grip on.

I use a Hartke 7000 head with this cabinet and it works well. I had a 4x10 and a 1x15 Hartke cabinet that I did use and I like this set-up much better

There's a 1 year warranty and I have other Carvin Amps and Quitars and have had no problem dealing with the company. They usually replace anything if you are having a problem.

I have been playing for more than 30yrs. and I would replace this speaker cabinet with the same unit if I had to. I love the sound and portability of the system in one unit. I would like to see more space on the top to set your amp head.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!??! This thing is so useless, all it is, is two horns put together! I tried so hard just to get to 300Hz and the frequency starts to clip around right below 300Hz. This is a POS in my opinion. Carvin again screws up a prefect oppurtunity to make a strong foothold in the 8x10 market. Sure it can handle alot of wattage, but my 350 watt Ampeg B-2R limiter light starts to go off at around 140 watts because I have my EQ's mids and bass all the way up. If you turn the low and mids down, its only a little bit more treble. No responce whatsoever. Thanks again Carvin for royaly screwing common people!

Well, it does have a metal grating on for the speaker protection, thoughtfull...but of course mine was rattling it's self loose. I swear to god Carvin is really building thier stuff in a Squier plant. I would never gig with this and you shouldn't either! Use an Ampeg, Mesa, SWR etc... Quality over Quantity is thier mottos, Carvin's is quite the opposite.

I actully went to thier showroom is Carmel Mountain, I only live 15 minutes from it. And they give you this crap as you walk out??? Honestly guys, if your going to screw us over, screw the people that are getting shipped, not who are going to be opening the package in 15 minutes!

Can I say POS? I suggest if you live close enough to a showroom you check this cab out first. Im totally against this product, so I am very opinionated, but what I said happened/sounded to me is the TRUTH!

i play in a punk band so i go for the mid range, punchy sound so i think its a perfect fitting cab for me i play on a ernie ball stingray bass through a ampeg b2r head and it sounds great so far although i would like this cab better if it could handle a little more volume before reaching clipping

before i even thought about carvin i was going to go for an ampeg classic 810 but i figured it costs alot more money and i heard alot of good things about carvin so i gave carvin a chance and its doing me very good so far i just wished it went a little louder before reaching clipping levels other then that i think its a great bass cab
