2002...Its really only good for practice or playing along with the radio...You will not be able to gig with this amp... you get what you pay more and less...effects can only be operated by hand and not very well at that...Realibility has always been thing with Crate...I've had this and a BFX-50 and had to have both inpus replaced...cheap plastic shit...I can usually work on most of these amps but not Crate...seems the inputs are soldered right into the cheap pc board, and it must be totaly removed and taken apart to even get at the problem...so you need a 10 year warranty really........probably why they quit making these turds...

Sounds are good and the unit is very quiet...you can use guitar or bass with this and it will sound pretty damn good.........

You really need to handle these amps with kid gloves...as I said the inputs are plastic so dont be yanking the chord out...any pressure on the input can damage the frail solder connections to the pc board........you really cant gig with this amp and I would be nervous about not having a backup amp....

Never delt with them...I had a 5 year warranty on the BFX-25 but not on the BFX-50...incedently the BFX-50 is a great sounding amp which you can use on the band stand...as I play mainly classic country I dont need great volumes...

If Crate would use some decent inputes these would be pretty good little amps...since they dont make these babies anymore [and I can see why] I'll give them a 5 for cheaply made junk...I've been playing lead guitar since 1957 and bass since 1968 so I can say they dont make stuff like they used to...I recently got hold of an old Peavey Century 200 bass head...took it apart and found a broken wire which I soldered and it now works fine...I will be selling most of my Crate stuff except my Vintage Club 60 watt tube ampn no cheat inputs on this one...this is a killer lead guitar amp

This is a brand new Crate model and is loaded with features including DSP generated effects. The built in effects include delay, echo, chorus, flange, funk-wah, octave, and a bass reverb (called hall). My only disappointment with the effects concerns the selector knob. It's rather small and has no detents. Other features include contour shape, 4 band equilizer, headphone jack and speaker out. The 25W amp is compactly packaged in a grey tolex covered cabinet which seems very robust. I just recently bought it but the amp appears versatile for most any style of music.

I'm using an inexpensive DeArmond Pilot bass which sound fantastic through the amp. The noise level is very low which surprised me. I'd previously tried one of the new Fender Bassman amps and it the noise was much more noticable. I've also found the amp works well with my Fender Strat and even better with my acoustic/electric.

Haven't moved it around too much yet but the construction seems solid. One complaint, when I removed the amp from the box the grill had come loose and I had to reattach it. The fasteners don't seem very robust. Hopefully it will remain in place. I was unable to give the amp a "10" rating becuase of this problem. Everything else seems well constructed.

I called them to ask advice on using my acoutic/electric with the BFX25. They were very helpful and have a good phone waiting system which tells you how many customers are ahead of you. I've had no warranty dealing with Crate but they do offer a 5 year transferable warranty.

I've been playing and taking private lessons for quite a while. I'm mainly a guitar player but bought the Pilot bass for very little and enjoy it a lot. I'm really happy the amp works well with my acoustic/electric. If the amp were stolen I'd go out and buy another. When I bought the amp I compared it too a Fender Bassman 25, and SWR Workingman's 10. I bought the Crate because it was cheaper than the SWR with more features and sounded much better than the new Fender.
