I own two of these. Bought both used, around 150 each. Bought the second a year after the first. Been using this type of amp for three years. Simple amp, very basic, with a nice EQ. If a small venue, I run one head and one cabinet. If larger I use both, running two lines from a stereo chorus pedal. 1 line goes to a 2.5 Hartke XL, the other to a 1x15 Hartke XL. With two heads it's a cheap, fully independent biamp rig, dialed to the different cabinets. Outside, I just run through the PA and use a single head and cabinet, primarily as a stage monitor. ONLY COMPLAINTS: I wish it had about 50 extra watts at 8 ohms, and the cable jack gets loose once every other week.

Sound Quality : 9
Fender Jazz with S1 button and a new Yamaha BB with actives, both 4 stringers. I've tried the heads with a variety of cabinets, and it seems that the cabinets and the bass pick-ups have the biggest impact on the tone produced, as well as how you have the amp settings dialed in. Both heads are quiet and soundman-friendly with a nice line out. I use them for indy rock stuff, pop, funk, and some jazz. I've only overdriven it with a Mesa V-Twin pedal (tubes).

Reliability : 10
Bought both heads used, with no history. Been using one for three years, the other for less. Both looked clean when I picked them up. No problems, no failures. They are built like tanks.

Customer Support : No Opinion
no opinion. no problems.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing about 20 years, and primarily used ampegs and some fenders in the past. Ventured into Peavey land for a short period when their biampable cabinets first came out. I like the solid quality and cheap used price of these amps. I view them as disposable but I haven't had any reason to ditch one yet. Stumbled across the first one, eagerly grabbed the second one... A little more power is all I would ask for. Surprised they stopped making them.

the normal set of features that youd expect. The graphic eq and the line out are nice.

Sound Quality : 7
I play a warwick corvette proline and i love this amp. Because of volume i upgraded to an ampeg b2 and i honestly like the crate better.

Reliability : 10
Ive had the amp for 3 years and this is where it really stands out. There have been no problems of any kind in the three years ive had it. Its the most reliable thing i own. ive had more problems with my $1500 bass then with this. this is the definition of a rock.

Overall id say this amp is a 7 or an 8. its a great value for the money. I just wish it was a little bit louder but thats really my only complaint.

This amp may not blow you away but it will give you what you want from it. I play metal but it sounds great for jazz and funk too. As a bass player you have to play jazz and funk haha.

if it were lost or stolen i would buy another one if i had the money.
Im actually looking to sell it tho for the simple reasont hat its my backup and i live in new york, gas is $3.25 a gallon. enough said.

if any one has any questions specific to the amp please email me or if your interested in buying it.

One channel Solid state with Gain, Countour, 8 band EQ, main volume, line out volume, effects blend. It has speaker 2 speaker out puts. One for four ohms and one for 8. A XLR output and an effects loop.

I always hate messing with Gain and the volume but it mostly seems to work. The Countour suprisingly is a good feature and I always leave it on cause it makes it sound better. Its not really an extreme shaping feature it just.. sounds better. The EQ is excellent. The line ins and outs are fine, but I'm not sure what the effects blend does. Something with lining effects in I assume.

I use this on an Ampeg 600 watt RMS. It sounds pretty good except once you go past 6 it gets muddy on the low notes and you can fix it a bit with the EQ but once it getse up to ten theres no hope.

I was hoping to use this for shows and it might produce enough volume, but I wouldnt use it if I had another amp. It gets fairly loud but like I said it starts getting muddy.

Bottom line actual sound = good Volume with sound = crap. And you dont buy a head to get good sound at low volumes.

Sound Quality : 5
Like I said this thing creates great sound, but is really muddy at high volumes.

Its also really noisy. More noisy then an amp should be. Theres more then just one little hum going on when you play.

Reliability : No Opinion
I'm not sure how reliable it is, but it seems all right.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't messed with customer support. No warrantee with it used.

Overall Rating : 3
I dont know a lot about amps but I do know this thing is a piece of crap. I got it with my ampeg, but I'm gonna look to sell it or trade it cause I wont be able to stand it long.

Its kind of borderline, but I decided I hate it. Its too muddy at high volumes and that really just takes the whole level down.

If it were lost or stolen I would get something else.

This amp was made around 2000. I use it for funk, rock, and blues. I guess it can handle it. It has one channel(nice and simple wich i like) Effects blend, headphones(pfff), volume, gain, and, line out

I use this amp in my three sometimes four peice band, This amp doesn't have enough punch. Lound guitarist, +loud drummer, sometimes a soft drummer, and medium singer sometimes. OTher times there are guest "musicians"(they're all terrible) anyway
IT has been used in gigs. IT provides presence of bass but not to much depth or distinguishability.(at high volumes)
Practice is practice.

8 band Eq
8 ohm 150 watt and 4 ohm 220 watt slots fpr speakers
Handle on side, Feet on botom and side(convenient)

IT has all the features i'd need.

Sound Quality : 5
I play this amp with a 1989 B.C Rich Neck through non active pick-ups
For a band with more lound then definition this amp will work better. At loud volumes it is very muddy at lower volumes it cleans up alot but then its not enough. It does not deliver a nice clean loud sound.
I don't like the distortion of this amp

Reliability : 10
This amp is very reliable. Don't have a back up. Never broken down, no problems, Hasen't even been cleaned, still works like brand new.

This amp was made from 2000 to 2003 (not my amp) I play in a rock band. I'm sure it could be used in other types of music.

It has one Channel, (nice and simple which i like) Contour, gain, volume, line out, effect blend, and headphones.(pfff)

I use this amp with my three sometimes four peice band. I use a 2 X 15" cab. This amp does not have enough punch. Loud guitarist, +loud drumer, sometimes a soft one, and medium simger, sometimes. other times guest "musicians"(they're all terrible though) anyway
It has been used in gigs and practice. It provides presnce of bass but not to much depth or distinguishablilty.(at higher volumes)

I play this amp with a B.C rich warlock 1991, non active pickups
For a rock band thats more noise than definition this amp will be better It does not have a good clean sound

At a high volume it is very muddy. at low volume it cleans up alot but then its not enough

I dont really like the distortion of this amp.

This amp is a few years old. Left over new stock at the local Music store. I play Hard rock mostly. Works great. I was worried about the rated 220 watts. but this thing seems a lot more powerful. One channel, Efx loop, XLR out, Headphone out, contour, and an 8 band EQ.

Sound Quality : 9
I play a Yamaha RBX 374 and a Ibanez GSR 200. Have the Crate 410 and a Crate 1 18. This thing pumps it out. Can have a good growl or a clean punch. It is very quiet. Can pull several tones out of it with proper eq settings. In the 3 piece band I am in, I have yet to have it over 5 on volume. Hard drummer, Guitar player with Marshall 1/2 stack. I love this thing!

Reliability : 9
I don't have a backup yet. Planning on buying a BT220 (new style head) to have as backup. But I doubt I will need a backup. Have gigged with it alot and never had any problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing since 1977. Have owned many amps. If it was stolen or lost would buy again. I love the sound, the price, ease of use. Wish it had a built in tuner like the new BT220 does. Wish it would go to 2 OHMS. If you need a good hard working dependable head, Made in the USA. Give this one a look. It is not the cheap crap Crate used to be.
