4 channels - bass, high mid, low mids, treble. The retail store salesman told me its 27 watts. This amp is definitely not loud enough, especially if you use the fingerstyle technique. If you use a pick, this amp should be loud enough for a practice amp.

Sound Quality : 1
This amp sound quality is so bad that you just wanna switch it off and throw it out of the window. If I'm not wrong, this amp has in-built treble boost to make slapping sounds better. But however, the treble boost make every note you play sounds trebly and horrible. I use a Fender precision bass. There is absolutely so thump or punch from the amp. If you turn the volume switch beyond 4 ( out of 10 ), every note you play will be accompanied by buzzing. Especially you are playing high notes ( D and G strings ), the buzzing will get real unbearable.

Reliability : 8
Yea I think this amp can take the abuse. So if you wanna throw it out of the window, make sure you do it from empire state building or the eiffel tower. Make sure you destroy it, it sounds so bad that it don't deserve a place on this earth.

Dean markley website don't even have a section for their amps.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
If this amp is stolen, I will be so happy because it give me a reason to convince my parents to get me a better amp ( ampeg or GK). I will probably think the person who stole it is a idiot cos he steals lousy stuff and not expensive and quality stuff. I DON'T recommend this amp to anyone, even for beginners. Do not waste your money.

Newer amp, mine was bought in 2001. They still make them, in China I believe. Listed at 25 watts, actually 27 watts per owner's manual. 8 inch speaker, single channel, 3 band eq, no reverb. The amp is much louder than it looks like it would be. Very attractive and light weight.

Sound Quality : 2
I played an original Steinberger 4 string thru it. Not diverse, it sounds like what it sounds like...a 27 watt bass amp with an 8 inch speaker. Not the greatest but what can you really expect? It does what it does very well...it just doesn't sound that great doing it.

Reliability : 9
Tough little amp! Had it for a while then gave it to a friend. No problems at all.

Surprisingly, Dean Markley amps are no listed on the Dean Markley web site. I think they make most of their coin selling strings so they don't give any focus to their amps. Doesn't seem like the greatest marketing strategy, maybe they should take an integrated marketing communications course! I emailed them once and asked where I could try this amp out, if they could tell me the location of a dealer etc. They didn't return my e-mail.

Overall Rating : 3
Basically the amp is only good for practicing scales, working out songs and living room jams with acoustic guitars. Decent little guy for what it is. I wouldn't buy the amp again because it is a bit tinny, small sounding and solid state sounding...so much so that I gave it to my best friend who also plays bass. He loves it. My regular rig is an SWR with tube pre-amp and I love the warm tone. So my next practice amp will have a tube pre-amp and a 10 inch speaker not an 8. Maybe a baby baby blue, not sold on the piezo horn though would much rather have the foster horn...so we'll see.
