Simple, solid, with enough tone control to taylor your sound. Used mainly for fusion and jazz, fretted and fretless six-string MTD and Tobias basses. A MOSFET power section, with adequate, clean power (300 into 8 ohms; 500 into 4; & 600 into 2). An amp that can handle a 2 ohm load is built to dish it out. A headphone out would be nice, but then, not many heads offer that option. No BS, no gimmicks, the real McCoy.

Sound is off the charts. Have done a/b comparisons with various high-end heads, and the HB-600 is, hands-down, the most articulate and transparent head that I've heard. Defines the sound of my basses, with no mud what so ever. Having owned a number of heads, I purchased this about four years ago and have never looked back. I'm surprised this head is not at the top of everyone's A-list, but then, Mr Demerter doesn't exactly have a hard-sell reputation.

Had a fan noise problem early on, shipped it back to Demeter who repaired it in short order. One minor issue since that was diagnosed immediately by a Demeter tech on the telephone, who told me how to alleviate the problem, avoiding shipping and repair cost.

I've been playing guitar for almost 40 years, and bass for 25. Have gone through a number of head and cabinet combinations, including Eden, SWR, and Euphonic Audio. Recently paired the HB-600 with a Phil Jones 9 & 6b. Almost too articulate, nowhere to hide. Play it right or hear it wrong. While these heads are relatively expensive, I won't be loosing money swapping it for new gear, the HB-600 is here to stay.

Best Hybrid amp I have ever heard. I play a Kinal SKB-4 and a Keith Roscoe 5ver. Bothe these basses have excellent tone and the Demeter allows that tone to come though. I play a little of everything and this amp can do it all except distortion. I have a pedal to do that. The amp is as quiet as a mouse. I love the amp and it is built well and I have had no problem with it after 3 years. I would recommend this amp to anyone.

Hi fidelity tone quality, plenty of power and features I've wanted in a bass head in years. 2004 Model HB600 Head consisting of a 250 volt tube front end driving passive treble, mid, bass and presence controls with a bypassable two band full paramentriceq, active effects loop, tuner out/mute switch and a mosset power section producing 300 watts into 8 OHMS, 500 watts into 4 OHMS and 600 watts into 2 OHMS in a 28 lb. 2 space package. For complete descrition, check out Demeteramps.com. I custom ordered mine with a metalic cobalt blue face plate. Looks trick.

This amp makes you take responsibility for learing how to use your ears. It's the most transparent sounding bass head I've ever known. The only sonic color is what you dial up. I use either a 1x12 or 2x12 Epifani cab. In my living room for practice, at school with a jazz combo, or playing classic rock/dance/blues on gigs, these rigs work well for me. Plenty of volume, body and clarity. I've recorded direct from it's D.I. and I'm pleased as punch with the results.

I've been playing bass for 25 years and have purchased almost every hip piece of gear you could imagine. I own an Azola bass, Lakland, G&L, Roscoe, Fender P & J. My main bass is a mid 80's neck through Yamaha BB1200S that I'm crazy about, and I'm elated with the sound of my basses through this amplifier. Demeter has done a great service for the bass community by listening to the end user and producing this amplifier. This amp is in a class of it's own. I chose to buy it for it's lack of senseless bells and whistles and for it's high fidelity tone quality, power and size. I thought the price was a little steep until I considered the quality of the amp and that it was hand built by it's designer and was exactly what I wanted. If it were lost or stolen, I would replace it in a hearbeat.

All new in 2004, this may very well be this best Bass Head on the market. The amp has one channel with bass, mids, and highs it also has a switchable parametric eq. The front end is the HBP-1 preamp which offers a fx loop with an on/off switch and in & out volumes. With an 12AX7 in the preamp & a modestly rated mosfet powerplant, I'm been pleasantly suprised at how this baby can handle all venues from small to very large.

By far this is the best sounding head I've used. I'm able to find my sound for all styles of music. I'm also able to hold my sound with clarity at high volumes. I use MTD 535's and each one differs from the other. With this unit I hear my instruments with purity and no noise. The HB 600 is crystal clear, powerful, and has plenty of punch. I'm using this head with Epifani 2x10, 3x10, 4x10 cabinet it works very it all of them.

Right now this amp has me thinking that I can dump alot of other gear that I have because of it's preformance thus far. It's compact size and flexibility makes it easy for me to have that high quality hifi sound all the time.
