I have the EBS-1v1 (80'ies gray) preamp, and I'm very impressed. The compressor simple, yet nice, the "bright" give exiter-like treble and the EQ is amazing. Sorta like a parametric Fender-type, takes its deal of trial and error. There's a headphone out, hi/lo out (variable crossover) and L/R out (fx loop is stereo and footswitchable). DI is post or pre eq *and/or effects*, and can be set to -10dBm or +4dBu. Dynamic range is a blazing 112dB! And you can "phantom power" active basses or EBS effects.

The "presets" in the manual is very convincing! This thing can *really* put out some low end (and sparkling highs), the compressor is just fine, and it sounds massive biamped with 2x300W though a 15" and a 2x10"+tweeter cab.

Asked for a manual and was offered one (at a price) but was informed that v2 manual would suffice.

This is an amazingly good, clean, powerful, versatile sound machine. Replaced my Trace Elliot AH250SM - never looked back. If lost, I'd definately consider EBS again. The "classic" version seems even better, can be overdriven and eq is easier, I'd take it over the v2. Or maybe the Fafner...
