Made in 2007, pretty versatile though there's only one channel.
It's more suitable for "in between songs" sound changes, rather then sudden changes while playing. Effect loop offers both a seriel & Parallel option- great for different sound options. Output sections pretty versatile too. I use it for HiFi-sounding funkbass & a Big driving fullrange sound. More precise than the Fafner. Thankfully the tube and the compressor can make it sound more soft and warm.
It lacks a footswitch for the different modes, and could perform better at higher ohm-ratings. At 8-16 ohms it would only be suited for small clubs and medium volume situations. From 4 ohms , it starts to kick in, and there's no doubt this baby would rock any big stage at 2 Ohms. So it's a question of what cab you use.
Conclusion : at 2-4 ohms it rocks, at 8-16 ohms it sucks...

I use mostly active basses.
Status modified custom bass, fretless musicman Stingray 5 and sabre bass. It really suits my style. I like highs that cut, but do not hiss, and a big, but firm bottom. Smooth midrange too. Funk, and eksperimental rock.
It's very musical and has some very cool filters, but not many. If you like the sound of your bass, this amp will take good care of that, but it lacks the eq to correct bad technique or bad instruments :-), so play something you like and practice !!!!

Have only had it for a couple of weeks, but seems solid like a tank. Would always recommend using a rack, since knobs and jack-sockets are fragile by nature. Other than that, a strong, well-built amp.

The warranty is good.
EBS really are nice and clever people. Had some problems with the WahOne and they helped me within a week.
Have never had any problems with this amp.

I've played Ampeg, Swr, Trace Elliot, Marshall & Hartke and it really has a nice audiophile sound too it. If any, it just makes your bass sound a little warmer and that's a good thing.
It's a bassamp for the versatile player. I'll perform well at pop/funk/ RnB and Rock gigs. Would not use it for heavy metal or extreme-sound level situations. But this amp really makes you wanna play a little less loud :-), it just sounds that good.
If it had a footswitch for the overdrive/mute/effectloop. And had a stronger power amp, then it would get a "10"...
But hey if you play a venue where this baby can't follow, then you're allready going through the mains, like the rest of the band.

I have an HD350 that I really like, but wanted some additional wattage. Although the 350 is a very loud amp for 350 watts into 4 ohms, it's still relatively low powered for a low B string at high volumes. The front end of the 650 is similar to the 350, with the addition of a true tube section (versus the tube simulation of the 350).

I use MTD basses primarily, with Epifani speakers (410UL at 4 ohms). The EBS gear really brings out the sizzle and fast transients of the MTD sound. However.... here's the strange deal... I actually find the 350 to be louder and punchier than the 650. When looking into the specs on the 650, it only puts out 650 watts into 2 ohms (I HATE when manufacturs do this). So, the difference between the 350 and 650 at 4 ohms (a typical ohmage for most cabinet configurations) is very small (I believe less than 100 watts more). When you add the much higher price, and the greatly increased weight and size (3 full rack spaces), I would HIGHLY recommend the 350 over the 650.

The 650 does sound good, and has a very unique 'sizzle', however, the cost and the increased size and weight makes the 350 look like a much better deal to me.

Made in 2003. This amp is extremely versatile, works for everything. It's very loud and should probably be rated higher than 650.
With the tube in the Overdrive section you get a a very natural growl that adds nice character to the sound.
This amp is very powerful, punchy and clear sounding and beats everything I've ever used before.

Very verstaile EQ, great sounding distortion. It has great head room, and can take a lot of power before distorting.
I play everything from jazz, ballads, blues, rock to metal etc, and it works great for everything.

It never broke down on me. Because of all the positive experience with EBS equipment, I normally don't bring a back up. Also because of the solid state power amp, and all the quality components I really trust it's reliability.

I have worked as a L.A. Session Bassist since 1994 incl. Takara, Quiet Riot and members of Macy Gray, Elton John, Ozzy, Foreigner and many more. B.I.T. and private instructor since 1991.
I've owned, recorded and toured with Ampeg, SWR, GK, Hartke, Yamaha, Mesa/Boogie, Acoustic etc, but nothing beats EBS !
I also use The HD 350 Head w/ EBS 6x10 cabinet/ 2x10 cabinet.

When shopping for a high quality professional amp I also tried out the Ampeg SVT IV, Gallien Krueger RB 2000, Eden WT-600, SWR SM-900 and the Trace Elliot AH500SMC. With all of the tone controls set flat and my Warwick basses plugged in, the EBS had the best and most uncolored tones. A couple of the other amps mentioned sounded cardboard like without the added EQ. Speaking of EQ, that is another area where EBS shines. The EQ is POWERFUL and requires little tweaking. A couple of DB's boosted or cut and that's all you need. How you EQ depends on your style and the room. A few seconds is all that is needed. The Eden takes the natural quality of your Bass and amplifies it in a high fidelity fashion. If your bass doesn't sound quite like itself with your current rig setup or after spending weeks findig the right sound to no avail then you NEED to test drive an EBS TD 650!!!

What immediately struck me about this amplifier was it's incredibly accurate response. (Freq. resp. 50 Hz-3kHz) This is extremely important if you make extensive use of precision playing techniques. "What you play is what you get"-strikingly so-which is really the most that can be said for any power amplifier. If you need lots of good clean power, have something to say with your playing and an eye for style, this poweramp would be a great choice.

The ideal power amp choice for bass. With incredible frequncy response, signal to noise ratio, low distortion, extreme output potential, and reliable/consistent performance, this amp is tough to beat. They're not too expensive if you do some shopping around and find a good deal.

The big payoff with this amp is the sound. I'm able to get incredible punch, depth, and especially warmth. The tone is very balanced, and very "EBS", smooth and musical. And the power helps guarentee that you'll have the tone AT VOLUME, which has been a big issue for me with other amps. Doing about 100 gigs a year, from small clubs to large festivals, EBS TD 650 kicks some XXX!!!!!

Manufactured in 2003.
For the most part I play metal & rock music, the sound I use spans from heavily distorted bass to that crispy grooving sound. I am very pleased with the amps drive section because of the tube on/off feature and the boost drive feature; it gives me a number off different styles of drive. The EQ section is also very easy to use because of the pre-shape filter called "character", the character filter gives a boost to the low and the high freq.
It is a one-channel amp, but it feels like a two-channel amp due to the tube on/off selection.
The amp has line out and balanced out (Gold plated XLR), a standard effect-loop, tuner out, phones jack and an amplifier input.
The amp has all the features a metal diehard can ask of so I am very pleased with it.
I mostly use my amp in the rehearsal studio an on tour with my band "Raptus" In the studio I have an EBS-410 cabinet and on tour I use it with an EBS-810 cabinet. It has all the power I need 650w of pure metal energy. (If I should use all the power from the head, you couldn?t stand in the same room as the amp.)
As I said before it is a hybrid Tube/solid-state head.
I also have to give the Swedes at EBS a fat credit for the compression section of the amp and the very easy to use EQ-section.

I use a Neuser Bass with active soap-bar pickups.
It suits my music style like a glove.
The nuber of sounds feels like they are unlimited its up to the user to choose, i guess that even the vintage boys could get a fine warm sound and the hi-tech guys aswell.
The amp doesn?t feel noisy at all.
To get back to the distortion, it?s a killer!!
You have absolutely no need for an external drive pedal at all.

I have been playing bass for aprox 15 years.
My gear is EBS Td650, EBS 410 and 810 cabinets and some pedals.
I love the fat sound, the fact that my friends are jealous, the finish and the cool blue light!!
The only thing I hate is my old amp , it sucks. I?m never going back there!
I don?t think its fare to compare a product of this calibre to other brands. But to give a picture of it, you have to look at the best bass gear there is.
I wish it had my name on it and i also wish i had a sponsorship deal with EBS ha ha !
Yes there is one thing I?d like to share.
It is a bottle of Jack Daniel?s with Mr Lemmy Kilmister.

The EBS TD 650 takes the natural quality of your Bass and amplifies it in a high fidelity fashion. This amp is very clean and neutral sounding. You hear the natural sound of the bass and the speakers. If you like to color the sound you can dial it in with the EQ. The three band EQ with sweepable mids is simple but effective.

I did about 100 jobs last year with this amp, from smaller bars to large festivals. It is all the amp I need for what I do. It is light, very compact, has plenty of power and sounds great. I would recommend it to anyone seeking those qualities along with a clean, articulate tone.
