A pretty simple cabinet- no tweeter, casters or speakon inputs, but does have parallel 1/4 out. I think it's pretty old though, so it figures. Spring loaded recessed handles, bottom ported and protected by a steel mesh grille on the front.

Although I'm not familiar with 18" speaker cabinets I'm very pleased with the responsiveness of this speaker. It's almost as fast as the Aguilar 2 by 10 inch speaker cabinet I own but has a much deeper tone. It reaches all the way up to the 6th harmonics with relative ease, and pushes out excellent quality low frequencies on the E and B strings. It has a very clear and rounded tone, and doesn't produce any farting or airy sounds.

I'm the second owner, I got it pretty beat up. It is pretty sturdy, although the corners have worn and the jackplate is chipping.

A very well built speaker cabinet that seems to handle the 18" driver's drawbacks quite well.

Sorry I don't have actual name of the cab, I don't remember the cab having one and Eden didn't remember making it. It has an Eden logo with a white backgroung as opposed to the gold. It definately pre-dates the David series (which has been around for at least 13 years). I remember it being 4 ohms, it was ported similar to the XLT's on the bottom (but not ported on top), and it had really cheap casters that would flatten out with the weight of the head and a 210XLT. The handles were metal springloaded similar to SWR Goliath cabs.

18" cabs are great ear candy on stage, or in a practice space. You feel them more then you hear them. That being said, this cab was great for shaking concrete. With a crossover head, it will enhance the sound nicely, but chances are the sound of the 18" won't be in the mix. For the most part I found this cab was mainly elevating my 210XLT, and the bulkn of my true tone was coming from the 10's, so I traded the 2 for an SVT810E. If I'd been running a solid state head with biamp (GK, Eden, SWR) I'd probably have kept them, but I was running a Mesa Bass 400 all tube head at the time. I tried using it solo for a gig once and boy did that not work. I'll give it a 10 for being what it was.

Other then the casters, I had no problem with the cab, and the casters were probably added by the previous owner. The construction was topnotch, it looked heavier then it was. I'm kind of amazed at how different the newer D118XL is, and can't imagine it sounding to different. I guess they wanted the D118XL to not look similar to the other 1x18" cabs (The Ampeg 18" cab looks like the older Eden 18", but with slightly larger ports). Basically a good sounding, well built, light weight cab.

I wish they could have givin me some more input on the age of this cab. Eden seems to be going through some changes, and needs to Iron out the bugs.

If you find one and you want to incorporate it into an Eden stack, don't worry about it look looking odd, don't worry, the difference between this cab and a David series was hardly noticable.
