EDEN WT 400
Mines the 98 22nd aniversery signature series. I think this line was one of the last hand built but dont quote me on that.
Everyones already mentioned the features. For me i couldent ask for anything more than what they give u.
One that i dont think anyone has mentioned is prob the greatest Feature of any amp.
It can be taken and used in any country in the world dispite voltage changes. If u take the top off and have a look theres a jumper in side to swap for the different voltages in the world.
This makes it great if u can get a great deal overseas!

My styles: im playing Alternative metal, Rock, Funk
Bass: Warwick Thumb LTD / Rockbass Corvette
Mate no question if u got the time to fiddle with this amp u can get any sound ur after with out a load of things to make it complicated to sound flash. Do ur self a favor and spend a load of time fine tuning the eq for any and all of ur styles and if ur patient u'll find it on this amp (please keep in mind the sound changes an extreme amount according to ur axe. think outside ur box and mix and match ur bass along with ur amp)

This amp has it all with out being complicated and is one of the best amps out there with out doubt. It keeps right up there next to the ampegs but in my personal opinon flies right past and beyond when everything considered.
A very sexy looking girl with all the power u would ever need.

Built in 1997, bought in 1997 (as a WT-300 and UPGRADED to a WT-400). This amp is extremely versatile with precise tone shaping. Used for live (about 450 live performances and hundreds of practice sessions) and recording. Enough power to keep up with any style of music on stage. The pre-amp design in superior: It uses a tube pre-amp for soft clipping while using a compressor circuit with automatice gain dependent threshold adjustment (ganged to preamp volume setting). Individual clip lights for pre-amp, EQ section and power amp make for easy setup for maximum signal to noise ratio. Low-noise pre-amp design make this amp the best for studio recording.

The highest signal to noise ratio in pre, eq and power amp section, the most headroom, the warmest (tube) preamp combined with the least discriminating power-amp (no phase shift with frequency response means very tight tone), omptimized compresser stage and perfect limiter reaction in output volume stage, this amp is an engineering masterpiece.

The most dependable amp on the market. The design is mechanically superior for reliability.

Never had to have it repaired. Only changed the pre-amp tube once. Customer service was fine when I had technical questions, however this was years ago.

I've been playing bass for 23 years. I have the D410XLT. Any other cab wouldn't last with the sheer power this amp puts out. I love that it allows you to have a tone outside of the amp while not depending on your amp for your tone, just like in sound reinforcement applications.

400 watt amp with tube preamp and five band eq (middle three semi-parametric). Nice small size and weight.

Very good sound with an extremely versatile eq. The amp has a slight midrange bump in the sound. I never use the enhance circuit. My only minor complaint with the amp is that it is mechanically noisy (transformer) - this is not a defective unit, just not as quiet as other amps I have owned. I never notice the noise on stage, just at home practicing. I think that this problem is handled with an upgrade to new specs that I can have done to the amp, but the problem does not bother me enough to pay for the upgrade (around $230 or so).

One channel, a very flexible tone /EQ section, and a 12AX7 front end that can dial in the amount of nonlinearity you need for "warmth". A nice hybrid design. More than enough power for most players- (of course, when I started a 40 watt B-15 was more than enough power).

Using with a variety of instruments- not just bass. I've used it with upright bass, fretted and fretless Fenders, a Hofner clone, flat top guitars and mandolins. It's not bad for jazz guitar sounds, either. I think it manages to combine tube "warmth" with a lot of clean power in a way that makes it very flexible and adaptable.

I bought this used from a friend who also bought it used, and it doens't seem to have any probl ems. Construction appears very rugged inside and out. I don't expect I'll have any problems with it. I supect those who've reported problems with the amp have damaged units; one sounded like he might have a bad preamp tube. Overall the word I've gotten on these from players and store owners I trust is that they're very reliable.

Been playing since the dawn of time. I'm using this amp in an Aguilar GS112 right now, though I have a couple of EA cabinets I could attach if I ever felt the need for more volume. I'm very pleased with it and can't imagine ever needing anything else for my playing, although you never know when GAS (Gear Aquisition Syndrome) might strike.
If lost, would I replace it? I suppose that depends on what was available then.

Purchased new from the Bass centre in December 2000, so over four years of solid use (average of two gigs a week plus occassional rehearsals and home use) and still going strong. Single channel with pre and post volumes, built in compressor and has some form of pre shaping that can be tuned in. Extremely flexible eq, high quality DI out with adjustable volume, good quality effects loop, tuner out, two speaker outs. In response to Lourde Hartha, I have had my amp tested and it registered 408 watts at 4ohm, 329 watts at 6ohm and 273 watts at 8ohm. Maybe the amp he has has some blown transistors, which would also account for the noise he is experiencing as my amp pushes out the power above and drives my Epifani 2x10 4ohm cabinet to extremely high sound levels; suitable for all the gigs I have done to date. I would like an active crossover like the WT600/800, but then if I really thought this a must have then I should have got one of those!

I generally use a Musicman Stingray and it sound fantastic with this. I also use a TLA Ivory valve compressor which I put through the effects loop. This then goes into an Epifani 210UL cab. Great lows and clean defined mids and highs. I, like many others that have reviewed the product, keep the eq flat as this just suits the bass. If I let the strings go a too long and 'dull' I just put a notch on the bass and treble and this seems to do just fine. The amp is extremely quiet and I have had no reliability issues whatsoever. I play in a number of different bands; a groove funk band to a covers (rock/blues/pop) band and even a heavy rock band on occassion. The Eden/Musicman combination suits all these and I have no need to consider changing.

Been playing a long time. I own a second Eden as back up, but never had cause to use it. I got the amp as it is flexible, powereful and light, and with my Epifani 210UL cab, I don't have to break my back anymore carrying equipment around. If it were gone, I would use my back up and probably not bother getting another as they have proved so reliable.

manufactured in 2000. Good tonal range. lots of features, push-pull/engage-disengage gain and compression. Tube preamp. I have been using it for at least 100 gigs a year since purchase, in addition to practices and open jam sessions. WARNING: I had this thing scoped by a dude from professional sound company, and it tested at 180 WATTS AT 5 OHMS, so eden is less than honest with the public about their power ratings. I used to push (or attempt to push) 2 210xlt's and wondered why it didn't seem to cut it. I began using a hartke transporter 1-15 and only one of the 210xlt's, both 8 ohms, and had better results. Having spent a grand on this thing, I am furious. It seems to me for that kind of cash, you should get a hell of a lot more output. I am still pissed at them, the damned liars.

I have used it with Ibanez btb-500, fender p (2003 american series, sting "artiste" series), Ibanez affirma bass, cort acoustic bass. Play blues, funk, classic rock. Basic fundamental bass tone is what I seek. I got their cabs, as previously mentioned, which have tweaters, to provide for high end. Yes, the head is eccessively noisy/hissy, the thing pops when the fan turns on. Overall, great tone, but some MAJOR issues....

Hasn't croaked yet, bought it in 2000 because my wt-300 (purchased in '96) was starting to sound beat-up, popping in the pots and such. the 300 died last week, after many years of gigging. I will be honest, I liked the 300 more. It actually sounded louder to me, less bells and whistles. The 400 makes all kinds of pops and such, I clean the pots at least yearly. Do not make any gain, tone or compression adjustments w/out TURNING DOWN the master volume. You will hate the noise, and the audience will not be too crazy about it either....
My advice: If you play a lot of smoky bars, leave the eden home. They cannot take the environment. Mine was popping, etc. within a year of purchase.

I have spoken w/ the lads at eden (they were very helpful then), prior to selling the co. to washburn, so that's a grey area. I'll tell you this, their shop rates are exhorbinant, to put it lightly. I'm using my wt-300 for target practice for the AK, because it would be cheaper to replace the thing altogether.

been playing around twenty years, owned peavey, mesaboogie, eden (sucks, overpriced) hartke (sucks, unreliable), heads. I won't buy eden's crap anymore. If you steal my eden, I will be thankful. I am buying a BEHRINGER. I hear they are a little more honest about their power ratings. And I can own a 300 watt amp for less than a simple shop cleaning at eden's wonderful armpit of a factory.... Overall, I'd like to firmly state that Eden Sucks. Great tone, but you pay too much for a product that is not consistent. I challenge anyone to put their eden on a scope, and I can guarantee that it will not test as high as the power rating. They are a bunch of thieves, and if they don't like it, they can sue me. I was a loyal customer for years. If yours DOES test out at the rated power, I'd like to hear about it. So if you like being bent over, buy EDEN. The amp has paid for itself thru gigs, that is the only positive thing I can say about it.

Running through Eden CXM110 for home practice and whatever's there at gigs. Flat: warm, lots of low mids. Good passive old-school P and J bass sound. Overdriven pre growls a bit; needs outboard assist for more grind/fuzz. EQ is versatile and can brighten basic tone considerably. No prob if you want Marcus sizzle from passive J; just crank high frequencies. Works great with upright too; serious.

Playing longer than I want to admit. This is one of the best portable bass heads out there; doesn't compromise on tone or power in order to meet size/weight constraints. $$$, but worth it. I'd buy another.

I used it for rock, I bought it from a jazz player who was downgrading to a combo for portability. Very flexible EQ, IMO some level of parametric EQ should be a must on any amp. Quiet, and plenty loud for smallish gigs. I honestly didn't begin to dig into the flexibility of this amp - it sounded so good with everything flat I felt no need to tweak it. It sems to me that's one sign of a good amp, if it;s own natural voice is so good it doesn't need tweaking. Full, warm sound, I'd expect you could get a good scooped sound or a mid boosted tone, but first just try it flat!

i believe you may have been sold a used amp as new. you said it was bought new at guitar center. well, thats impossible, guitar center is not and never has been an eden dealer. they do from time to time have some used stuff in stock but never new. that would explain the failureo the unit bacause it may haven been neglected by its previous owner. if you really liked the sound like you said, and it was brand new like you said then it should have been under warranty from eden and i find it odd that you returned it to guitar center for another brand. these are just some things that i believe other review readers should think about when considering an eden.
