2005 model purchased new. Versatile amp used in following settings: 5-piece alternative rock, 2 praise bands, & additional collaboration with many other musicians, with styles ranging from classical to pop to jazz. Amp is currently in production. You can see full specs at Eden website. I use this amp with 4-ohm cabs. A single cab allows this head to breathe about 400 watts RMS. 2 4-ohm cabs together allow this head to breathe over 600 watts RMS. It has enough power to provide stage sound, stand-alone sound in venues of up to 500 people without PA support, and large venue sound with PA support. I chose this head specifically due to its reliable solid state design providing amazing bass tone. The EQ section is minimal, a positive to me, as I like to run flat, using the power to amplify the natural tone of my bass.

Sound Quality : 10
All my basses are electric solid bodies: 4-string fretted, 4-string fretless, 5-string fretted, 7-string fretted. All my amps are solid state. Prefer 4-ohm power into 2x12 or 2x10 cabs. This amp is free from white noise. It offers great power and headroom. I play to avoid distortion.

Reliability : 10
Reliability and dependability are good. However, I always have a backup available. I have never needed to use my backup gear with any of my Eden products.

Customer Support : 8
I have had good success with customer support from my dealer, as well as from Eden Corporation. There are multiple authorized repair centers in my area if I ever need them.

Overall Rating : 10
Have played long enough to know what I like tonally, and what works live and in studio. I am very satisfied with the WT405, and have no need to search for a replacement. I would happily buy another based on my past and current experience.

Solid state amp, fan cooled (very quiet). Made in USA in 2003, I think. I bought it used.

Compressor (bypassable; very nice sound)
Gain control / switch (not much dirt here)
"Warm" switch (tube-like sound I guess)
Enhance (kind of like "Aural Enhancer" I think)
Fancy but fairly simple EQ. Mid shift/bypass
Treble and Bass contour buttons (bass is like "Sonic Maximizer")
Tuner Out / Mute and Speaker off controls
DI send (with volume control) on the back.
etc.

400W @ 4 ohms, which is LOUD going through my Bag End D10-D. It's very small and not too heavy.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Fender Jazz bass with this thing. Pickups are DiMarzio Jazz Humbucker and a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder. Both passive, but pretty hot. It sounds great. I play mostly rock with it, but the sound is generic enough that you could use it for any number of styles. It's quite loud. I run it through two tens and have to turn way down so that I don't drown out the guitars (going through high-gain halfstacks). There's a lot of flexibility in tone, but really, how different does bass sound in different styles? It sounds good, that's all you need. My only caveat would be that the gain, although nice sounding, is weak. Don't expect to get a dirty sound without a pedal.

Reliability : 9
Eden builds their stuff to "military specifications". I guess this means it ain't breakin' any time soon. I've never experienced problems with mine. No tubes, so that makes things easier too.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I asked them a basic question about the amp over email. They responded quickly and courteously. That's the extent of my experience with them.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing about ten years. I've had this a few months, and used it with a hardcore/emo group I'm with right now. It does the trick. I like the compressor, and it's fairly simple in its layout. Small and light as well. Let's just put it this way -- the rig I had before was a SWR Workingman's 2004 with a BBE Sonic Maximizer. I get an analogous sound, with twice as much power, for about the same price, in a significantly easier to use, smaller, and tougher package. Coupled with my Bag End 2x10, it gives me the sound of a half stack, in the size of a combo. Great.

This is a new 2005 WT-405 All Solid State Head. The power rating is 405w into 8 ohms which is more than adequate for my needs. This head only weighs 15 lbs. and is very compact. This unit is single channel and has 2 inputs Standard and an input for high level or piezo type pickups. There is a Tuner Mute which is good to have and a very versatile D.I. It has all the usual tone controls and in addition a "Compressor" an "Enhance" control and an adjustable "Warm" button.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using this head with 2 Flite single 15's. I mostly play a Wilkins P/J and a Lakland Hollowbody. My musical styles include Rock, Blues, Country and what I would describe as Alternative Folk. This amp can handle any of these styles with ease. I would describe the sound as Natural, powerfully clean and pleasantly warm. The controls are very effective and totally intuitive. It is very easy to find a good usable sound with this amp. I just set the gain and bring up the master with the Treble, Mid and Bass completely flat. The "Enhance" feature for me only required a few clicks as well as just a tad of "Warm" and I was there! I should mention that I play small to medium size venues as well as small home studios so I do have to sometimes boost or cut the tone controls to match the room acoustics but usually only very slightly. A little tweak gets a lot with this head. The amp is fan cooled and is very quiet. All in all, I hate to sound like an Eden commercial but I really love this head! The only thing I needed to change was the rubber feet, they were a little short and didn't clear the top handle on my cab. Not a big deal.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had this head a short time so I have no opinion as to reliablity. It does seem to be very well made.

The company has been very helpful whenever I've had a question. Also Eden has an excellent website and owner forum.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 45 years, I started very young and I have owned many basses and amps. I love this amp, I have some physical issues so I needed a light amp and I was worried that I'd have to give something up but I needn't have worried. If weight was not an issue I would probably want a big tube amp but for me that's a moot point. As far as what I would do if it were stolen? I'd definitely buy another one.
