Lots of features in a portable combo set-up (1x12 cabinet with 800w amp). 4-band EQ plus pre-sets allows for flexible adjustments to response in a varity of room-types. The tuner was originally included with earlier models but was cut due to increased costs (patent trademarks, etc.) to their bottom line. I'm glad that the tuner was sacrificed in lieu of craftmanship. Other features are plenty as mentioned in another earlier review.

Sound Quality : 9
I've owned this setup for 2 1/2 years now and have played small venues and found that it translates well in both small and medium halls/churches. It is not so much as a "colorer" of the sound as it is a translator. It's done well alongside a loud drummer, grand piano, loud guitarist (is there any other kind) and 5 vocalists -- without complaint from the drummer. The amp is clean -- buzz is negligible and eons cleaner than my former combos. For its size it's a player.

Reliability : 10
No problems whatsoever except for with the EU logo (which is plastic) coming unatached. Too bad the big plastic logo isn't a nice as the rest of it.

When I originally purchased the unit I emailed several questions and received prompt and helpful feedback from EU. Made me immediately glad that I'd decided to put my dollars and faith in them.

My partner has a massive Crate combo. Yes it's great for punk shows and is loud, loud, loud. Takes two of us to haul it. But the EU is manageable for one person, and to my ears, the response range is night and day. If you want growl, this isn't the combo for you but it does have a good clean response.

The earlier post lists all the features. This one is a friends and it's a couple of months old. It has lots of features but personally, I don't find many of them useful. I just need a good sounding combo which is loud enough to match my drummers pounding.

Sound Quality : 5
I was disappointed in this sound. It sounded just like when I play through the stereo. It's clean, but it doesn't cut through. It's almost like it doesn't have enough power, but at 800 watts I think thats not it.

Reliability : No Opinion
It seems OK. I cant judge this.

Im a veteran rock bassist whos sick of big stacks so I want a combo. I dont own this one, but a friend does, and I will pass on buying it. It costs way too much for what it does and sounds like. I hope my friend doesn't read this, he'll be peeved.

This is a large 1x12 cabinet with an integral 800W (nominal) amp. Specifically, it's EA's iAmp-800 head and CxL-112L cabinet in one cabinet. The cabinet is a 12" kevlar cone woofer with a coaxial horn tweeter with tweeter L-pad. The cabinet has provisions for extension speakers in the form of a Speakon and a 1/4" connector. The head has lots of power and features, such as parallel and series effects loops, and an integrated DI box, switchable pre or post volume. The eq section is 4 parametric bands, very complete but a bit overwhelming and overkill, plus some "preset" contours. Overall, a good setup, but at this price point, a tuner is sorely missing. I'm dinging a point for that and being slightly too complex. Also the combo has a great portability feature set: a telescoping handle and built in "inline" wheels. Nice touch.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this amp with electric bass guitars only. The sound is very hi-fi, very flat response down to the low E. It can easily reproduce a low-B. The flatness coupled with the EQ give it some versitility. Personally, I think this amp would be very nice for an upright player, since it's so ultra-flat, and the tone of the instrument would come through. For E-bass, it's a bit sterile. It doesn't have the character that most big-name bass cabs have. In a loud gigging situation, you really need to boost some mids to cut through the mix or the sound gets swallowed up. I won't call this "bad", just a fact that you may need some judicious EQ to get the tone you want, if hi-fi isn't your thing. Also, at loud volumes (which one encounters at rock gigs or perhaps practice), the physics of the smallish cabinet producing high SPL causes some inherent cabinet noise, it starts to sound a little "boxy" at maybe 110 dB SPL. If you are going to play often at these levels or above, I'd strongly recommend extension speakers.

Reliability : No Opinion
The amp seems reliable, but it's really difficult to say, since it hasn't failed yet. I look at the eq preset buttons with suspicion, as they're about 20% too long (slightly poor design, IMHO), and could be whacked off if you're not careful. But having said that, I have no reason to believe it wouldn't be reliable.

Everything EA makes has a generous 3 year warranty, with the usual "unless you do something STUPID" exclusions. I haven't needed repair, although I have has some email contact to address my concerns about SPL and power handling, as well as about another cabinet. They addressed the questions relatively completely and authoritatively, but there was a bit of surliness and perhaps even a little dismissiveness in the tone. I think maybe their popularity is going to their heads a bit. Maybe that's to be expected. But I still don't like it.

Been playing about 20 years - ostensibly this is asked to establish my credentials to rate this product???

If it were lost or stolen, I'd consider another one but first I'd do the research again. The tone could have a bit more character for what I'm shooting for. But it is a nice piece of equipment.

I chose this one for the reputation (from the TBL digest primarily) and listening tests and weight and portability concerns. Again, it needs a tuner badly, it's almost criminal that a near $2K combo is without one.
