I bought this amp when a long time ago. I want to say 1995. Maybe 96. It still works great. Of course now that i'm older i know more about music and amps, but for a little 15 watt amp, it's great. It has a headphone jack, single input, and an output jack to plug it in to another speaker. I play a fender precision bass bought at the same time and this amp continues to please me. Its basically a practice amp to use at home. I use it in my room to practice. Works great.

My style is mostly rock and funk, and this bass works really well. Only three equalizer knobs, but what do you expect. They can really change the sound of your bass though which is a big plus. It actually gets pretty loud for it's size. Some distortion at max volume though.

Reliability : 10
I've had this amp going on 11 years now, and i've never had a single problem.

Overall this is a great amp to use for practice. Great for begginers, young teens, and anyone else who doesn't need to blow out the windows every time they want to practice in the privacy of thier home.

For a little 15 w. amp this is a good as it gets. It can recreat some great tone, all the way from a popy funk sound all away down to a ground gothic sound. It also has a speeker out put wich is great for pluging it into a PA or just an 8 o. speeker (what i do if i need to play a gig).

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Squier P-bass SP on it and it sounds great. For just a little amp for your room to play with and right music, this is the amp you need. It has a verry clear sound with verry little distortion untill you get it up to the higher levevels (wich you rarely do) It has a "hum" to it that you can only here when you arnt playing any thing, you can do a simple sound prof method to get rid of it if it bugs you.

Reliability : 10
Verry strong and durable, have yet rto have a problem with it.

The Fender BXR 15 solid-state bass combo contained the following features : - output of 15-watts RMS - specially designed 8" speaker - single input jack - a completely compact, sealed cabinet made out of plywood (glued) - built-in, unadjustable/fixed-level, compressor/limiter - 3-band EQ (labelled from left-to-right : LOW, MID, HIGH) - Tolex covering - external speaker jack - headphone jack - velcro strap in the back of the amp to hold the 3-pronged power cord
(The amp also came with a full-sized schematic, warranty card/info, and a Fender sticker)
For a 15-watt practice amp, this little tone-toy contains some fine features that are also available in all the other BXR series amps.

I used my BXR 15 with a Yamaha BB200 bass. I bought this bass used and it's basically an inexpensive P-bass copy. (Maple neck, rosewood fretboard - not too sure about the body wood) It had an active EMG P pickup installed in it. I also used this practice amp exclusively at home in my bedroom. (No gigging obviously due to the size and power limitations) The sound was warm and clear. Turning the volume up to around 80-90% caused the limiter to kick-in big time, and the tone wouldn't be as clear. I wouldn't call it it distortion, but that's basically what happened if you cranked it to its power limit. Slap tones, reggae tones - all could be had with this amp.

Reliability : 10
I owned it for over a year and had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with it. I was also VERY impressed by Fender's 5-year limited warranty which could be passed on to the next owner if you sold your amp. (Which I did)

I never dealt with Fender regarding this product simply because customer service wasn't needed. Everything operated perfectly without any problems.

I bought my BXR 15, new, from Long & McQuade in Toronto in December of 1995. I owned it for about a year and a half and eventually sold it in the "BUY & SELL" (free classified ads newspaper) simply for the fact that I needed something that had more power to it.
I have been playing bass since 1993 (guitar is my main instrument and I've been playing since February 1990) and this was my first bass amp. I was INCREDIBLY impressed with Fender's quality & construction, tone, and the 5-year limited warranty that could be passed on to the next owner.
The "next model up" in the BXR (Bass Extended Range) series is of course, the BXR 25. (Formerly called "RAD") The BXR 25 was one of the clear winners in one of BASS PLAYER magazine's bass combo shootouts. Since then, it's gone on to acheive a fairly popular status among bass players. The BXR 15 has been discontinued and the lowest wattage BXR amp is now the BXR 25. It makes sense to me - 15 watts is QUITE low in power for a bass amp! The BXR 25 is only roughly a $100 more than the BXR 15 and it contains a 10' speaker, (a standard among bassists) tape/CD input jacks, and an effects loop. To me, this is a great deal and I think it was wise of Fender to discontinue the BXR 15.
Overall, I was really impressed with the BXR 15. It served its purposes for me and I really liked the tone.
