DREAM GEAR SCHMEAM GEAR!!! have to say that i have been playing for a very long time.I sold my trusty work horse of an amp.I played through Peavey gear for a long time.I have a high end Peavey cirrus bass and a high end Carvin fretless custom. They are my two main basses that i use all the time. I needed a change and went to a Fender bassman 1200 head,a 4x10 mesa RR and a 1x15 mesa PH that I had almost 4 years.I fiddled and tweaked bought a hundred pedals and compressors, tried the onboard stuff too.It looked great in my rack on top of that speaker combo. I HATED IT FROM THE DAY I TURNED OVER A GRAND FOR THAT VILE PIECE OF CRAP.I'm sure many people would say my problem is PEAVEY basses. It did not matter what i did i could not get the pre-amp above 1.5 maybe 2 without the speakers jumping out of the baskets. Too boot I think that Mesa' made a piss poor descision with the overall design of their cabs.. Above and beyond they are WAY too heavey for their size, they do not push the air needed to aquire the low end, chest pounding, mind blowing bottom end that atleast I want.probably just a bad combination perhaps. My guitars are active electronics one is a pretty standard 9v system and the other is a 18v system. They pound on the pre-amp before it can do it's job.I DO NOT believe the fender bassman 1200 is designed for active basses no matter how much comp/limiter,signal squashing I did.I had tubes replaced, the amp tested.Everything came out great.I paid almost 3 grand for the amp and traded it in yesterday for a thousand dollars worth of Peavey cabs. and a head.I know i lost a TON of money.I didnt care.I know i lost a grand maybe more.I would pay twice the sale price of Peavey gear NO HEADACHES!!!!!! Im happy to be home.
