Nice quiet amp! I use it with a passive Fender V string, an Ibanez SR 405QM, and a Yamaha TRB 1006 six string. Amp is quiet even with the active basses. Note I said quiet not noisless! Treble from active basses makes a little noise if boosted too much but I think it's more the bass than the amp! I could dial up any sound I want!
No, you're not going to get that Mesa Boogie or Agular tone, but for the money this amp is worth, it does a good job and doesn't get muddy!
I don't understand why this amp recieved so many complaints?
It's lightweight, loud and punchy! If you want more run it through the house system! That's what most bass players are doing these days anyway! No one wants to break their back with those tower units and 600 to 1200 watt amps anymore. Thats why there's a big surge of small light amps with more power! My bands house system is 3000 watts!
I'll go XLR out and my amp will be the monitor! If you like more power get the Bassman 200 1X15.

I had one of these and got rid of it to get a Peavey TKO 1X15.
Although the peavey had good bottom it was a bit muddy and when pushed past 2:00 it would woof out! So I traded it in and got back a new Bassman 150. I lost some $$ but I don't regret a thing.
I only wish this amp had an extension speaker jack so you could hookup an additional speaker.

You can read the features for yourself... you get a lot of useful features for the money. No poor quality (and useless) effects built-in but parametric mids and XLR output are at your finger tips. Sorry Fender I cannot give it a 10. You should allow mute to be controlled by a footswitch and carpet covering is nasty and too high maintenance.

Impressive clean sound with flat response allowing you to color to your own taste. Fender claims 150 watts but it doesn't seem as strong as they claim. Push the preamp a little too hard and the clip light comes on a little too frequently... I've been hesitant to push it too far but I've cranked the master volume and been relatively impressed with its power handling. The tweeter is quiet with no hiss, unlike competing models in the same price range.

One fried at my fingertips right in the store. I took a chance thinking it was just a bad unit and/or abused.
Mine decided to make zap/crackle noises about 8 months into ownership but cleared up after a few moments. I have tested everything and can't seem to find anything that was affected.

I've owned this amp for over a year now and I really like it. The amp is less than 40lbs and is easy to move around. The audio quality is very good for the money and you have so much control over the tone. I've played Fender P and Jazz basses through it as well as a Peavey Foundation, Cirrus and Zodiac. I've settled on my Cirrus which I believe sounds very good with it.
If your budget is under $500, it is really hard to go wrong. Especially since you can get this for $350 on a good sale - at least here lately.

Just bought it (in 2008) and it`s made in Indonesia. The XLR-out is nice, it`s a fairly nice-looking amp. Inexpensive, which is why I bought it.
Now for my complaints. The little "Eminence" and "Fender" logos on the speaker grill are made of plastic, not metal as I`d been led to believe. I`d prefer two recessed side handles as opposed to the single top handle; I feel the amp would be much easier to carry. Frankly, I know these are minor gripes, but I`ve only just begun...

I use an `05 American 4-string jazz bass with Fralin pickups installed, and play strictly fingerstyle. I figured if any sub-$500 practice/small gig amp out there would compliment a j-bass, it would be this one. Fender bass, Fender amp, right? No. IMHO, this amp doesn`t know what it wants to be. Here`s how: It tries to be warm, throaty, and tube-like, but isn`t. It also tries to be dark, tight, and punchy like a good solid-state amp, but isn`t. It`s too flabby on the bottom for a solid-state, yet lacks the warm "dirt" a good tube amp would have. Now, I would`ve taken either type of sound (would`ve preferred a proper solid-state tone), but got neither. This amp is quite sterile-sounding and lacking bottom-end overall, and I`m bitterly disappointed. The best thing I can say is that at least I have a practice amp again. Maybe I just expected too much.

Been playing off and on for about 17 years. I considered a Roland Cube 100 (I think that`s what it`s called), an Ampeg BA115T, and a Hartke Kickback with the 12" speaker. They all had the price point I was looking for. I chose the Bassman 150 obviously, and regret it. If this were lost or stolen, I`d DEFINATELY buy something different. Something I wish it had? How about TONE!! At the end of the day, I`m just going to keep the amp rather than return it (too much of a hassle). If you`re in the market for an amp in this price range, I`d advise you to go check them out in person first instead of blindly buying one based on the reviews of others. I know better, but did it anyway. I`ve learned my lesson.

I've had the Fender Bassman 150 for roughly 6 months. It has become the workhorse in my stable. As I am a small guy with back problems I really appreciate the light weight, and it fits nicely in the back of my Ford Focus hatchback without having to put the seats down.
The control panel is probably the most versatile & sonically accurate setup I've seen on an amp in this class. I've never been a fan of compression, but the comp on this unit is incredibly smooth & musical. DI is clean & has plenty of headroom to match any mixing board input. Pre- and Post-EQ is also a nice feature, as well as the Mute switch....

I've been very spoiled as far as basses & amp setups. Have been using Spector basses for nearly 30 years so I'm very particular as far as getting an amp to reproduce the bass's true sound. Have been using Gallien-Krueger & Eden gear along with an occasional SWR. I've gone through a LOT of small combo amps, mostly with lousy to so-so results. The Fender Bassman 150 is the first combo amp to fulfill all my sonic expectations. All the tone controls really work & you can hear & feel it--no humps or gaps when you turn a knob. The parametric high AND low mids is a real thoughtful touch. Great when your strings are dyin!

Since I live in Florida I play a lot of outdoor gigs in extreme climatic conditions. This amp has held up well. Played a gig a couple weeks ago in 95-degree heat for nearly 12 hours, then it rained. The Bassman 150 handled it all very well, better than I did!! Have always used my big Eden rig for an outdoor job but this little amp gets amazingly loud & projects well, & the tone doesn't deteriorate at high volume. Not to mention that the load-in & -out with this little guy's a piece of cake.

The wedge design is a great idea, as I use it quite frequently as a monitor when going through a full PA, so if the PA sounds like it's being mixed by Pinocchio, my stage sound is still pristine. Previous to the Bassman 150 I used a Hartke Kickback 12 which, although it's a decent combo amp (and about 150 bucks more), cannot touch the Bassman as far as tone. The Fender's a well-behaved little tone-monster & can give you that polished studio sound live with very little tweaking. I also compared the Bassman 150 to the new SWR Working Pro combo amps. Although the SWR's are much more "in-your-face" than the Fender, tonewise it holds it's own. In fact, the Fender's tweeter is MUCH smoother than those in the SWR. And considering the price tag on the SWR, I would consider the Fender Bassman 150 to be the best deal for the money..Well-thought-out piece of gear for us "working stiffs"..Kudos to Fender on this product!!

2006 model, indonesian-made, 150watts as is, consumption is 420watts so I would say it's not an effective design (my Roland blues cube 310 takes 90 watts and delivers 75 in the speakers, loud and effective design! A mesa triple rectifier takes only 440 watts and delivers 150 tube-watts, that's effective too!).
Back to the Fender: tuner out (unaffected), send-return jacks, aux in l-r cinchs, speaker out jack. That's for the back.
The XLR DI out is way nice, very healthy so you won't be stuck. The contour knob is very useful, allows for instant adjustments without touching the eq settings. Speaking of which: no limits, all is possible with two parametric mids plus bass plus treble if you can't find your sound you really have a big problem in your set-up!
Lightweight, very easy to use (the horn attenuator on the back works very simply and well, flat/-3db/-6db).
Fender did this combo very very well.

Stock eminence is smooth and flat, a good tandem with the horn. What I like best is that excepted gain and compressor settings all the rest is set at noon, flat, and the combo sounds great like that. No stress, then!
With a grown-up speaker setting (115-410 tower) the Fender really shines, stays very focussed and clean. Power is just enough for most band applications (my tower comes from HughesKettner, no entry level also) so I am very happy with this bassman 150, very versatile.
Being curious, I swapped the eminence for a trace elliot speaker and guess what... Much better, woodier-throatier tone and just as loud despite running at 8 ohms instead of 4! Great, lucky strike.
I even use this amp with a korg od105 overdrive(sim on) with lovely results, in fact better than many guitar amps. But that's with the trace elliot by celestion speaker.
I am using this amp mostly with my fretless five bass, passive, and the combination complements each other very well. With a four strings precision it sounds too plastic-trebley but I didn't touch any eq since I am a happy fretless player. So I think a convenient setting would be there if you tweak the thing a bit. Or just plug the tower, it's much more fun for slapbass isn't it?

I love this amp! Everything is possible, but you don't need to tweak it at all to have a good sound, and that's what counts. Saves nerves, time, bucks, ears.
Light, you can carry it alone no problem even upstairs, Di out lets PA use it no problem what the venue, and a tower in the rehearsal room for any band use. What more could you want?
I very much like the celestion bg12 trace elliot speaker I put in, a big plus for fretless and guitar use.
As it comes, this bassman is perfect (considering the price/size/power/performance) and I am no beginner at all.
Before buying I also checked a Markbass 121, way pricier, and it sounded too synthetic (I am sure it's this strange yellow speaker, but swapping it would be difficult since the combo puts 280watts, right, of power in it. Not much choice at this power rating.). It also lacked the compressor, and its adjustments are a bit confusing I think.
Any other combo was too heavy/big/expensive so in the end the Fender bassman 150 was the only runner, no wonder it won the race...

This amp has plenty of power for me. It sounds good turned up too. I haven't noticed any distortion or rattles in the grille. The Eminence speaker is very nice! The horn tweeter is nice feature which you can turn down, or completely off. The EQ is great with adjustable mid-range and contour scooping. You can really dial in your sound pretty easily. The compressor is great as well. Keeps your sound even and warm. You can tilt it back for use as a monitor and it has a XLR balanced line out with ground lift. I am just really impressed with this amp. It's not real heavy either. It's around 40 lbs. I was considering the Ampeg 115 but it was over 60 lbs and I thought the Bassman 150 sounded just as good if not better. Oh yeah, it's a carpeted box and not the rubbery stuff.

The sound is solid. Great lows on my Spector 4 string with passive pickups. Be careful sitting this amp near a wall with a picture on it. You might just rattle the picture off the wall! This amp shakes the place! I think this is a good amp for the price. I paid about $380 for mine. I think this amp would be great no matter what style of music you're playing. I like a little bit of everything.

I was comparing this amp with the Ampeg 115. I like the EQ better and the ligther weight on the Fender the best. The Ampeg was less wattage, but sounded good. I just decided on the Fender Bassman 150 and am happy I did. I upgraded from a Hartke 20 watt amp to the Bassman 150. A world of difference! It makes my Spector 4 string sound a lot better. I am convinced that a good amp can make a cheap guitar sound a lot better! I do want to upgrade to a Fender bass guitar one day. I do have a few pedals I use and they sound really good through this amp. I just started playing at the beginning of this year. I like the sound of this amp so well it has encouraged me to get better and try out for a worship team at the church I'm going to. I think it'd be hard to beat the sound of this amp in $400-450 price range.

Made in 2007 - Indonesia. Although I don't like making Fender rich on the sweat of third world countries, I can't afford USA made stuff. It has all the necessary stuff, including a contour control, compressor, and paremetric Eq on the mids. XLR out with gnd lift and level control is sweet also. I use this for small to medium size gigs. Plenty of headroom, practiced in a small garage with our drummer(loud) and got above him easy, with power to spare.

Using a Squier Bronco bass, Dean Evo XM, and a Hofner 500/2 club bass.
Play mostly old country, Western swing, and Gospel music. This amp handles all that with ease. Can get any tone I need for these styles and probably cover 60's and 70's rock too, if I need to. No distortion, very clean amp. You'll need a pedal to get your distortion a low volumes, cause this amp just don't break up much till the gain is maxed.

3 yrs - have Ampeg BA112 and Peavey microbass amps also. Peavey is a great small practice amp and the Ampeg is great sounding practice amp.
But, the Fender I would keep if I could only have one amp. Wish it had a couple effects built in ( Reverb and Chorus ) and wish bass and treble EQ were parametric also.
Just a solid powerful amp with good tone in a portable package with enough features to please almost everyone. Go buy one!!

2006 made in Indonesia. Many products coming out of Indonesia these days are equal to the Korean products in quality. I have two basses made there and this amp is just another example. 150watt 1x12 combo with horn attentuator switch which allows you to use the horn at full, half, or turned off completely. One channel, effects loop, headphone jack, and xlr line out with level control. I use it for practice and small to medium sized gigs and it has plenty of power.
Controls include Volume, compression, contour, bass, lo-mid level and freq., hi-mid level and freq., treble, and master.

I run a Peavey Millenium 5string, a Brice HXB 5 string, and an Ibanez SR400 through it. This amp handles the low B string better than my SWR Workingmans 15 1x15. It has more clarity and defintion through the Eminence 12inch speaker that the amp comes with. This amp is good for any music style and could do what you want it to.
