Bought mine new in 2006. I've been using it to gig and practice for the past 2 years with no mercy! I play a lot of blues, funk, classic rock, and hard rock. This thing has great tone for all. I only use the enhance feature on passive basses (you don't really need it for active). The EQ works wonders as well as the compression and room size compensation. I recently upgraded with the 115 EXT for more boom at open air events. Now this rig works well for all of my needs. Amp is 1 channel, has pedel connection for EQ, effects loop, built in tuner that is a MUST.

I use a Fender Jaguar bass with jazz pickups (placement of neck pickup is closer to neck than the regular jazz bass) and a p-bass with 1/4 pound pickups. The sound is amazing. It really lets the bass shine. It doesn't really color the sound, so if you have a really crappy bass, don't expect this to make it sound AMAZING. Very clean sound. The highs are sharp and the lows are clear (especially with the added 115 EXT... lows were a little fuzzy with just the 10s). It's a very quiet and clear solid state amp that is small enough to take everywhere but versitile enough to be your main rig.

Never needed a backup. Just make sure it is on solid ground, otherwise it buzzes a bit.

I've been playing for 13 years. All my other amplifications stuff is meant for the bedroom (ie: crap). I love the tone. I love the casters and handles (built strong). I love the tuner. My only down on this amp is that the lows get fuzzy if pushed out of the 10s (upgrading to the 115 fixes this). If it got stolen, I would either replace it or dive into the world of tube amps. It is a very dependable solid state beast build to last and last and last and last....

I use the Fender 400 Pro for small pub sized gigs and garage jamming.
I play blues, rock and metal. This amp covers all styles quite well.
As the name suggests the combo comes with 2 x 10" speakers and an adjustable horn.
A foot pedal switch for the equaliser is included and very useful for solos and when the song needs it.
Living in Australia I had to install a rack mounted tuner myself which makes a big difference in ease of tuning.
The amp is rated at 350 watts @ 4 ohms or 500 watts @ 2 ohms.I already had a 15" cab @ 8ohms. This made them incompatible, so I took the amp to be rewired at 8 ohms so they could be paired. Works great now.
This amp does everything I need it to do.
Loses a point for the low impedance on it's drivers.

I'm playing with a custom built P Bass using some excellent Jim Dyson pickups. We play a lot of Hendrix, SRV and Cream. The amp sounds clean, smooth and has enough punch to achieve it's own character in the songs. The compression dial works a treat. There is an enhance button that increases the lows and highs, but things tend to sound a little muddy, so I leave it alone. The 3 band equaliser is where a wide range of tones come in. RHCP also get a workout and some great tasting slap sounds can be found as well. We also like to harden up our sound playing RATM and Metallica. That's what makes this amp so good is the range of tonal possibilities for different musical styles. The combo on it's own does have a lot of midrange punch. By adding the 15" cab really makes this amp sound great. It is loud, thumping and solid. I can sometimes hear a slght hiss coming out of the horn.

Previously I owned a monstrous 250 watt valve amp - she sounded big but was too heavy. I needed something more portable and punchy. I've been playing for 10 years and owned and played various amps around the traps. I am extremely happy with this amp so far. I can get all the sounds I want out of it and is loud enough. I tried out a Mark amp and it sounded a tad too sterile. The Fender tone is there.

I have two Fender P basses (Mex and American) with standard pickups. We play mostly blues, but get rocking once in a while.
I love the tone - but its a pain to switch tone during a gig from song to song. Wish there was an easy way to switch without touching 10 different knobs - I'm going to try the new Sansamp pedal. The bottom line is this amp can make all the sounds you want....... if you have 2-3 minutes between songs....NOT.

I'd like to say I have had no problems but unfortunately I did have a serious problem (probably my own fault). Somehow the fan housing got damaged - (probably from loading/unloading the amp at gigs) and a piece of the plastic housing stopped the fan blades from spinning. The result - the amp would work during practice sessions where the volume and heat was not too high - but it quit on me during a gig (most embarressing for all concerned) as soon as it got heated up. I took it to a Fender service center and after a 3 week wait they diagnosed the problem as a bad speaker connector, replaced the connector, and gave me the amp back. Of course at the next gig it cut out during the first song. This time I did my own research and finally realized the fan was not working - causing a relay to cut out once the amp head got too hot. Another trip to the Fender service center, this time a 2 month wait and it finally works.
The problem was probably my own fault for not being gentle enough with it - and not better researching the problem on my own - but Fender did honor the warranty - However, I was without an amp for three months - requiring me to buy another amp (a Carvin - now my backup). I was not happy about that. I would rather have paid the service center to fix it the first time than spend another $1000......

Good warranty - 5 years. There as no quibbling on coverage even though the damage was probably my own fault. However - it took way way way too long to diagnoze and repair it. I actually left the amp at one servcie center for 2 weeks and when the guy hadn't even looked at it - I pick it up and took it to another. Silly me..... expecting my amp to be fixed in a day or two.

I love the amp. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a small sized combo with big time tone and sound.
I've been playing guitar for ..... er........do I admit this .... about 40 years..... I'm probably the worst guitar player who can say that......... I've been playing the bass exclusively now for 3 years. If I lost this amp I would probably get one of the more expensive tube amps - like an Ampeg. I have a Carvin BRX212 (800 watt)combo - and while the Carvin is easier to change tone - and certainly isn't a bad amp, I like the Fender's tone and features better.
Come to think of it, I guess my band is pretty much a Fender advertisement - all Fender amps, and all Fender guitars.

New, 350 watts, 5 band EQ, compressor, mute, Korg Tuner built in. Effects loop and room balance global EQ also part of the package as well as a switch that scoops out the V if you like, footswitch for parametric EQ. Tweeter can be adjusted on the rear of the amp for more or less response, I go for less.

I tried about 25 bass combos recently, looking for something that would give me the tight puncy tone of my Eden 4x10/1x15 rig I sold off for something that will fit on a back seat. Had to sound great and not need knobs adjusted when changing from fretted to fretless. Gives me the Kim Stone/Dotsero slap tones of modern jazz, the singing fretless tone of Mark Egan and the bottom end of a Nathan East song. EQ goes down to 25 hzx for low B guys and does NOT flub out when cranked to the point of being way too much, tighest low B of any combo I've played. I have six string Pedullas, ET-6 fretted, Hexabuzz fretless.

Beat out the Walkabout Scout and Eden Metro I figured would be in my final decision by blowing them away on tightness and low B response, cost less too.

Brand new 2004 beauty of a solid state amp. I looked at every amp on the market, and i heard Fender was releasing the 400 Pro so i waited for it to hit stores. The first day it was out i played it, within 5 minutes i was pulling out my wallet. This amp has the rack mount tuner which is amazing accesory. The room balance and compressor are among my favorites of the features. Also the EQ's you can specify exactly like you want. This amp is versitle in all ways, i play from blues to funk to hard rock and it work for all.

I plug my Fender Dlx Zone Bass into this, so i use a P-J config and damn does this thing crank. But there is one problem, when i play the Jazz pickup i need to change the EQ's to get it louder than i do with the Precision pickup. There is no distorton (unless you really want to fiddle with the EQ) but ive had this thing all the way up and i dont get any feedback or and weird noises. Never have i got a radio station, but when i put my bass next to my PA i get a weird buzzing which is only because of my bass pickups, nothing with the amp.

This thing is a tank, and this will NOT break on you. You can launch this off of a truck on a highway and it will be fine (except the scratches)

Ive been playing bass for five years now and i own a collection of basses and guitars (6 in all). And i have had another older Fender bass amp (which can still kick ass) but it was time to get louder so i got the 400 pro. And if this was stolen, i wouldnt buy a new one because i would be too busy finding the sorry prick who took it. I would NOT go with another amp. The amp is perfect, but i wish it went louder some times :). I compared it to Ampeg but they just didnt cut it. You have to play the 400 Pro in order to understand, but since Fender started making thier products like they used to, youll see Ampegs name begin to die off.
