Pretty basic practice amp; a phones jack would have been nice, as would separate input and master volume controls. Effects loop and balanced XLR outputs are nice features.

This is a 60w amp with a 10" speaker. If you are using this to gig with, DON'T COMPLAIN that it's not loud enough. You should have bought something bigger!

Sound Quality : 8
Best small low-wattage amp in the shop. I tried 'em all! Ampeg, Crate, Peavey, GK, Behringer, Line 6 and the Fender Rumble series too. I was set to buy the Bassman 150, when I saw this used and dust-covered 60watter sitting off to one side. Sounded similar to the bigger Bassman (as you'd expect) but just with lower volume and fewer controls. Very little hiss, just a big round "modern" bass tone. No rattling, contrary to what some have reported. Again, this is a low-volume practice amp, and it does what it is supposed to do, very well. Does it compare to my Eden 210 combo? No, but compared to other small low-power amps, I'd give it a solid '8.'

Reliability : No Opinion
Bought it used; seems solid enough.

I've had other Fender gear repaired under warranty and it was hassle-free.

A great find at the price I paid. Perfect for basement practice.

Unknown year. Just receently bought it as a guitar and bass amp. Old fashioned features=blackface, does not tilt back like the new ones, 15" speaker, 60w, 2 inputs, line in and line out, closed back, built in limiter, 3 band eq, 53 pounds. Has plenty of power for guitar, small venues or practice for bass. For bass practice at home or can be played out but will not be able to compete with modern 100w and up bass amps. However, please note, most rock and roll and blues from the 50's and 60's was played with a 60 watt bassman. THIS IS NOT THE NEW REISSUE BUT INSTEAD IS TAIWANESE AND PROBABLY ABOUT 15 YEARS OLD.

Sound Quality : 10
It sounds like an old Fender bassman with that typical bass sound from the 50's and 60's. Deep clean as long as you don't turn it way up, at which time it will distort. No noise. I use it with a guitar pod 2.0 preamp. The pod is set to model a Fender bassman, which now goes into the Fender bassman 60=luscious, rich, reverb, great bottom end and plenty of volume with the guitar. My guitars are humbucker equipped and the sound is classic sounding=clean, twangy.

Fender is professional grade. Too new to advise.

I grew up with the Beatles and Rolling Stones. I own six guitars and one bass. I am the guitar player in a classic rock and blues band for 14 years(the group gets along without egoes and we are popular in a resort town with lots of clubs and bars. Play every weekend). I like the somewhat smaller and lighter package of the bassman 60 compared to my large Roland JC 120. I paid the equivalent of a new pedal, so it was a deal but used. It could be lighter but pro grade amps are always heavy, well built to take the abuse of clubs/bars. Besides Peavey, there is Fender=two brands for amps that I think are affordable, reliable and made to last a long time. If lost/stolen, would replace it. I looked and carefully considered this bassman 60 for a long time. I was prepared to buy the tilt back reissue, but this was there and now sits in my house between usage. In summary, it is a good utility bass amp that can be used for guitar and bass=good bang for the buck.

Already been mentioned before^^^^^

This is a simple, straightforward amp, many people complained about its lack of features before, but its simply the design, if you are not content with the design and features, do not complain about them, simply purchase a different product. Only thing I would say it lacks is the lack of footswitch for the Enhance switch, which would be a nice addition.

Sound Quality : 9
First of all, IT IS A 60 WATT AMP!, and for that, the tones are quite good for playing jazz and prog, especialy with clean tone and on the ocassion I require some distortion/compression/or delay effects, it does handle them nicely. The enhance switch works nicely and gives a rich warm sound. I play Jap active Ibanez SR basses, fretless and fretted through it, and they all sound great.

Reliability : 9
owned it over 1 year, not a single problem, it comes with a 5 year warranty as well... which is nice, though I have never had to use my warranty on any fender amps before.... if you treat your gear well, and that doesnt mean you must baby it, just use common sense... it will last a long time and reward you with years of musical pleasure..

Customer Support : 9
The local Fender dealer has great support so I cannot complain

Overall Rating : 9
15 + years music experiences... mainly a guitarist(gibson/ibanez guitars + fender/peavey/traynor/custom boutique amps), also play bass (Jap Ibanez SR's regular and fretless), keys(yamaha), and drums(pearl + sabian)

This is a good amp at 60 watts, works well in the studio, I record it with both the XLR and miked with shure sm57's and it works well. And again this is a 60 watt amp!, if your situation requires a larger amp, which most people do, get one with atleast 120 watts, otherwise it will not sound good. If you must constantly play with the volume at around 7 or 8... it will start to distort and sound poor... but guess what... MOST SMALL AMPS DO! if the amp is low powered, it was not meant to be played at such high volumes for so long and it will sound bad. This is not a main gigging amp, however this is a wonderfull practice amp, and works well in the studio. If it were lost or stolen (I doubt it would be since its always in my studio) I would replace it as I really enjoy the scooped warm tone the Enhance switch offers.

This is a Bass amp, its not supposed to have a whole lot of features. However they did include the two that I think are absolutely necessary for an amp. They put in a limiter, which is very nice if your worried about blowing your amp, and they included a passive/active control switch. I find that it seems to mesh the sound from a bass, such as mine, with active electronics alot better than an amp with only one option. However there is not really whole lot of tonal versatility. I find that the mid is generally pretty shitty sounding if you turn the mid frequency up, but it does provide you with the incessant pounding sound that you hear when you drive by somebody blasting rap. So if your into rap, this is the amp for you. All these details aside, I think it puts out a decent sound with all the tone knobs at 0, which is Ironic becuse at that volme you could never compete with the guitar player or drummer. For the size of this thing, the sound is skimpy.

Sound Quality : 5
I usually run an Music Man Stingray, through a big muff, through a digitech processor. I play alot of primus tunes, and pretty much other than that, avant garde/noise stuff. This amp can pull it off tonally, however if you turn it up all the way, the tone turns to shit. I don't really notice if it is, or is not noisy, I have no comparison, and I do alot of feedback to begin with. For me its not an issue.

Reliability : 2
I have never had a problem with the amp it self, I have broken knobs and such. I have put this thing through hell and it still hasn't crapped out, and Im suprised it hasn't. However if there is a problem don't count on Fender to either cover it, or work within a reasonble timeframe to aqcuiest your needs. I just had a shitty chord break inside the imput jack, and I've been waiting on Fender for parts for about two months now. All I ordered was a jack, and two knobs. This is too tough for Fender, they are the absolute worst company I've ever had to deal with, aside from purplus computer software. For this reason I would never recomend this amp, or any Fender mp to anybody.
P.S. Their Basses suck too

Customer Support : 1
As aforementioned, they have no customer support at all what-so-ever. I don't remember how long the warranty was, but I am posative that they wouldn't cover anything, becuse I brought it in within 3 weeks to get a new knob, and they wouldn't cover it. They seemed friendly on the phone, but as soon as you get off the phone with them they go into some back room and laugh about how long they are going to wait to fullfill your orders. I was thinking about buying a fender M80 guitar amp, but after this ordeal I never want to work with Fender again.

Overall Rating : 3
Overall its a strong amp, and it puts up with alot of shit, but don't expect any help if it craps out.

I play Rock and some Blues. Fender should be embarassed for making this amp. It buzzes all the time at all volumes. I have owned Fender amps and usually they are quality amps. NOT THIS ONE! Don't buy this bass amp, the worst Bass amp that i have played in 43 years. I have a Old Sears 50 Watt Bass amp from 1962 that puts this solid state amp to shame.THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE THING ABOUT THIS AMP THAT IS POSITIVE!If i could give it a zero i would.

Reliability : 1
I would not use this amp to play at any event. it is not quality enough to play in your bedroom.

Customer Support : 1
Don't expect any help from FENDER. Even if there were inclined to find out cause of buzzing on this amp it would take a year to get it back. If you can find someone to sell it to unload it. OTHERWISE TRASH IT IN NEAREST DUMPSTER.

Overall Rating : 1
IT IS WORSE THAN ANY 15 WATT PRACTICE AMP. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR 43 YEARS AND THIS AMP IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER USED. IF IT WERE STOLEN I WOULD PAY THE THIEF TO KEEP IT.

At first glance, this amp has a certain appeal as a low volume practice/rehearsal/gig amp. However, I tried out one at the store which had an annoying cabinet buzz/resonance; this was remedied somewhat by tightening the grill cover screws. Nonetheless, it still made annoying noises on certain notes.

OK, being momentarily naive enough to think that Fender would not produce an amp with this problem inherent to the design, and being in a hurry because it was late and the store was closing, I bought one on good faith and took it home. I played through it with a Fender Jazz fretless, my favorite "gig" bass, for about 1/2 hour. Brand new, right out of the right of out box, this one had similar problems. I meticulously tightened every screw I could access including the tweeter mounts; guess what, all of them were loose. However, even after tightening each screw gently to snug, the cabinet still buzzed/resonated on certain notes. As a final measure, I moved it around to several different places/directions in the room to make sure it was not ghosting from room noise/rattle; no, the buzzing was coming from the amp cabinet, somewhere near, but not in the tweeter.

This is supposedly a bass amp, bass guitars produce low frequency sounds; to prevent the cabinet from buzzing/resonating, care must be taken in the design and production to insulate all components. This is 3rd grade level design criteria. If you are Fender, how do you screw that up? I am not bashing this company because I've own dozens of their guitars/basses and amps over the years and have been generally very pleased. But come on, seriously, this is just plain unacceptable (I am being polite and considerate of the reader audience, other four letter words evoke better imagery).

As an old timer who has been playing bass in bands for 35 years and who currently owns a broad range of much higher end gear, I bought this as a convenient light jazz blues rehearsal/gig amp in order to save my back, my car, and reserve my heavier SWR gear for louder more demanding performances.

Unlike many of the reviewers below, I would not typically expect to turn the volume on an amp like this of only 60 watts past 5 without getting some distortion; such is life with low powered solid state gear. I can accept that. However, to get cabinet buzz/resonance at modest volumes below 5 is absurd.

Who designed this amp? Remember, I tried out two from the same shop: the one in the showroom had virtually no wear and the one I took home was brand new out of the box - both exhibited this problem. My mistake is in my car today (the day after the purchase) and it is going back to the dealer tonight after work.

Buyer beware, no matter how appealing some of its cute features are, this thing was designed and built by idiots...it is garbage. Shame on Fender, they know better.

Features : 10
Overall featureset is, simply, along the lines of the original Bassman, good sound - few frills. Just like most of the Fender amps. They're about tone, not about knobs/whistles.

1 Channel
3-band semi-parametric EQ w/ a sweepable mid-range (1 octave wide), bass graphic (1 octave wide centered at 50Hz) and a treble shelf (5kHz).

12" Speaker (Eminence, called special design - available to the general consumer)

Horn Tweeter - (Eminence - again, called "special design" but fully available to the consumer from Parts Express).

Ported Cabinet
Tilt back (great for stage/clubs)
Effects loop
Direct out

My bass rig is VERY simple... a compressor, a chorus and that's about it. The compressor plugs before the amp, the chorus in the effects loop, and I'm done. Nothing fancy - this amp meets all of my requirements.

Sound Quality : 10
From subdued, relatively 'flat' bass response to a very good, mid-scooped slap. The "Enhance" feature is one that I really like a good deal. Takes some of the "honk" out of the bass and makes it sound very good. The sweepable mid-range control is another feature I like. Allows me to "sit" the bass in the mix, very easily and quickly.

The AWESOME THING about this amp - HUGE sound, low volume. It's hard to record a bass, with good mic's, when it's really stinkin' loud... also, every rattle in the room gets picked up, too, when the bass is up loud... this thing produces killer tone, a low volumes. It's a dream to work with. Plus, I don't keep half the county up at night when I'm practicing.

Relative to my older Fender Twin and Fender Deluxe Reverb this thing is quiet! Very quiet. I'm used to the all out noisy hiss of tube amps... this doesn't have any of that. There is some, but nothing to cry about - it's as quiet as my other, newer, solid-state amps.

IT'S A GREAT GUITAR AMP! If you're playing clean. If you play clean (I like Duane Eddy, for instance) it's killer. Great clean tone. Makes a Tele sound HUGE... In fact, I like using the direct out feature for my bass guitar and recording the amp for some guitar parts. It's clean, present, sparkly and not at all harsh w/ a guitar. Plug in a tremolo and plate reverb and you can surf all day long.

The thing clips when you turn it up loud - imagine that???? Gee, I've never seen an amp do that before. Actually, it acts just like it's designed for - I've sat w/ an audio power meter on the speaker inputs and actually played a little bass - when it's 60 watts, or below, running into the speaker there's no distortion and no clip-light. Crank it up past that, there is some.

However, one has to take that response into context of the amp. 60 watts isn't a lot for a bass amp. In fact, it's darn little, to say the least. Some have said "The SWR or the Gallien Krueger is better, in this price range." Truth be told, they do get louder, but they all sport 100-watt power sections, too! Gotta compare apples to apples, not price to price - on either of those you lose a good deal of flexibility that this amp has. I can live w/ the lower volume and the larger feature-set.

Reliability : 10
I have only had mine for about a month. I can say that it's run through my burn-in test (1 month operational without power down) without a flaw. If it makes it past the first 72 hours of operation, most electronics gear will run a LONG time.

I have 6 other Fender products and none of them have ever had any issues, at all.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to deal w/ these folks, on this product. However, I have worked w/ them many times, in the past, and have had GREAT RESULTS every time. In fact, Saturday I emailed Fender for availability of the Gretsch Dynasonic pickups. I had an email in my Inbox at 8AM this morning - 6AM in Fender time. Can't beat that.

Overall Rating : 10
I LOVE IT. For 60 watts and a 12" speaker this thing KICKS! It's everything, IMO, that Fender claimed it to be and it fulfills my needs perfectly. In fact, it's even filled a void I didn't purchase it for...

you know the features.... ^ ^ ^ including NO DIRECT OUTPUT LEVEL CONTROL KNOB. (for you people that want a good output level for the sound man to mix. you can just clip all over his A55 and smile because there is nothing you can do about it.) limiter also is a joke. (cab design and mute button are my 2 +'s thats it.

Sound Quality : 1
The tweeter just makes huge amounts of white noise all day and the 12" woofer doesn't have the clarity of my RL118 carvin low end cab. (That houses a single 18" woofer.) the woofer has a little hollow bass because the cabinet design is the only good thing and the speaker uncontrolable clips and craps out from a passive bass at low volume.

Reliability : 1
Reliable as the PULL OUT METHOD.

DON"T WANNA..,, AIN'T Ganna Happin . This lemon was pitched back to the only place that it will fit. In a michigan bassed death metal garage band. they are learning their second song. I think thats what fender had in mind when they made the bassman 60 ,it's so AUTO DISTORTION.

I have been an understudy of victor wooten since the release of the video "super bass solo technique". I can play "clasical thump" on my fretted or frettless 6 string basses. I've been on cd's and played with solo artist, Believe me when I say this amp Sucks like no other. fresh out of the factory, or off of ebay, it's a BAD BUY.

Too bad it does not feature some effects (beside the unwanted distorsion when used close to the max volume).

Sound Quality : 6
I read the other reviews, too bad I was not aware of Harmony-central.com prior tu buy it.

It is true that it makes distorsion at high volume, but it is better since I got a new bass with better pickups (Squier P-Bass vs Fender Jazz Bass Geddy Lee signature).

The sound is really good when volume is less than 50%. But as mentioned in other reviews distorsion appears at high volume even with the EQ set all neutral.

It is also true that this amp is borderline to play with a drummer. The best recommendation for potential buyers is to try it with a drummer (it is not all music shop that will let you do so in their shop!)

When you try it alone you will think it is loud enough for sure, but beside a drummer it will be a different story .Unless you are playing with a Buddy Rich type that grabs and uses his drumsticks just like they were made of candy (Of course he is a king but my drummer shows more muscles).

I did not try it yet with the XLR line out in a console.

Reliability : 9
As mentioned sice it is borderline, my amp has dozens of hours playing at 90% (I just don't crank it 100% because the clip would trigger on each single notes).I never had a problem.

The amp spent 200 miles in my trunk on secondary roads with the knobs facing down (size of arms is not always proportional with brain, always verify your load). The amp survived, but why design an amp with protruding knobs???

Did not need it yet.

I'm playing on and off since 22 years but more seriously since a year and I got the amp 6 months ago.
I was hesitating between this and a Kustom B65 that was new and $100 more (with built-in effects). I had a chat with an experienced Kustom owner and he recommended the Bassman. We found out later that he was thinking about the vintage Bassman series.

Remember, it bears Fender's name, it is beautiful but it is still a 60W. Probably a state of the art practice amp but it is a 50 pounder and it's big (for practice).

If it were stolen, I would dance naked... and go back shopping with the idea that I need more than 100 Watts. I rented a Peavey TNT (100-125 not sure)for a gig prior to buy the Fender it was better by far and the 200$ more worth it.

Made in 1999. Kick back monitor style, with tuner out, DI balanced out, effects loop, and 4 band eq. The kick back cabinet is cool, but it makes it difficult to carry around due to it's odd shape.

Sound Quality : 4
Tried to use this to jam with in a soft rock/pop band, but it just didn't cut it. When the limiter kicks in there's lots of distortion. I have 2 basses one with active PU and other with passive, and they both sound distorted when master volume is set past 12 o'clock. I read someone elses review about possibly having the setting wrong or using it incorrectly. I don't think that's the case since I tried EVERYTHING. The 60W just doesn't cut it in a rehersal/jam session perhaps as a little practice amp, but then again I'm sure a bassman 25 would be suitable since it's much easier to carry around.

I would never buy it again. I actually just got rid of it. I only bought it because it was a cheap used one. If it had more power and it didn't distort so much, I would be happy with it as I like the kick back cab design. If anyone is considering buying this combo amp, I suggest try to borrow/rent one first before you buy.

good features D.I., Tuner out, enhancer, ext speaker out. The limiter function is crap. It clicks when it engages so the headroom for the amp is very, very low.

Sound Quality : 3
Sound quality at low volume is wonderful. The enhance button makes every bass I own sound great. When it is turned up past 10 O'clock this amp falls on its face. The limiter sounds so bad it is pathetic. I played this amp for a day at home with my G&l, Ric 4001 and Dan Armstrong bass, it was embarrassing that I even bought this amp. I took it back and got an SWR 1x12 workingmans combo

I have been playing for 30 years. I have owned ampeg, acoustic, peavey, traynor, kustom ,kasino, marshall, fender, sunn, sound city, orange, gibson, univox, roland. This amp(fender bassman 60) is a great practice amp. Not for $400 bucks. It appears to be around 20w. I read the rating it said 60wrms@1%thd. mabey at 1KHZ, not 20-20KHZ. Fende should apoligize to anyone that bought this amp that plays for a living. Fender made wonderful amps way back when, now I wouldn't hit a hog in the ass with this crap they are marketing. I have been using a 50w Traynor Bassmaster with 1x18 cab and it kills every club I have played. I am 42 now ad cannot lug the Traynor around anymore especially up stairs. I bought the fender for size and weight. 50 tube watts is 100 times loude than the current fender watt rating. Remember this when you go looking for a light combo to gig with.

First of all let's get this straight. The amp I'm referring to is called a Fender Bassman 60, however it IS NOT the recent kickback, monitor style amp that is currently available. In fact I can't find any reference on the web to the particular amp that I own, and they were quite common when I bought mine, around 1990. My Bassman 60 has an older style blackface look with a silver grill cloth. It was made in Taiwan. On the back it is rated at 110W. It has a 1-15 speaker enclosure. There is a volume as well as a master volume and controls for bass, mid range and treble. It has a line -out on the front panel, two inputs, and a built in limiter with a red indicator light. It's solid state of course. I use it for home practice mainly, but take it out occasionally to gigs at smaller clubs, or for semi-acoustic shows where I want something with a little less power. I always get comments on how good it sounds from other musicians.

Sound Quality : 8
I have 10 different basses and have played each through this amp at one time or another, all sound great, but my '73 Rickenbacker 4001 and Fender Jazz Bass sound best through it in my opinion. It's quiet, not a lot of variation EQ wise with just the three tone controls. I've played it at gigs with a full band in smaller rooms and had no trouble cutting through the other instruments. It has a solid clean tone as well. I've miked it for recording in the past also and it worked out great.I mainly play indie guitar rock that's on the rootsy/Stonesish side.

Reliability : 9
I've never had a big problem. The knobs are a little crackly at the moment but that's probably just dirt. I have had this amp for almost 13 years and it never needed repair. I have no problem taking it out for gigs, though my GK 400RB amp and Peavey 1-15 cab gets taken out more often because it's more powerful. I don't know how well it would hold up for steady gigging if it was the only amp I owned.Mine hasn't really been used extremely hard in my opinion.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had occasion to use the warranty, or have needed repairs.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been a musician for almost 35 years own a lot of equipment, gig and record steadily. I think this amp is a great value as a practice amp,or for small, quieter venues, and ideal for a beginner who needs enough power to play with a rock 'n roll or country group using smaller combo amps. I'm not sure how sturdy it is if you had to gig with it exclusively. It has always been adequate and reliable for me.

this was a 2002 fender bassman 60, the amp is had very awesome tone at lower voulumes. all in all the versatile is not there though, it is like trying to get seven notes sounds out of a tunning fork. One ch. it can be switched from passive to active (thats a plus) there is a tuner loop out and a xlr blanced out, standard fare for 100% of amps put out in the last 40 years. not really any power thus the bassman 60 (hello)

i play with an Fender P bass with the standard stuff, nothing to spectaluar. i play in a alt. worship team, and my primary style of play is straight forward, nothing to funky, nothing to punk rock either, some where in middle. After truning up the volume past 6 it get very cruchy and distorted. and because it is only 60 watts it cant feel a thing that you are playing. kinda lackluster if you ask me

i havent playing as long les claypool, but im not a complete moron. other gear i own, is bass gear so it not really worth meation. if i lost it i would cry over the cash, dance over no amp. i would probaly pay some to steal this one.
i hate this product because get a again fender has put out an overglorfied overpriced practice amp. (come on 400 buck for a 60 watt amp, i was complete dummy for this, forgive me) it is really sad, but a little swr 8 in (not 10 or 12 or 15 or even and 18 in but an eight) put out three times the noise and punch at half the price, (bottom line, fender sucks for bass amplification) (my little peace of advice, save your pennies and get what your really want)

Effects loop, tuner jack, out jack, bass enhancement switch, limiter switch, and 4 band EQ. Standard fare for this sort of practice amp.

Sound Quality : 1
I used this amp with a 1982 Ibanez Roadstar II. The pickups are very strong and it caused this amp to overdrive and fart out relatively quickly. When I tried this amp in the store, as with other users it sounded fine, but when I used it to play with a small duo in a small club, it had absolutely NO PRESENCE at all. It was set on about 7 on the volume and the eq was basically flat, with the bass at 1:00 o'clock and the treble at 1:00 o'clock. It started bagging out real bad on the bottom end and was distorted. During a break I ran home and grabbed my 1986 Peavey Minx and that one pulled me through the contract just fine.... I was truly disappointed at the performance of this amp. I was hoping Fender would kick my butt.

No idea on reliability, I returned it.

I' ve been playing for thirty years and have owned many amps. I have an Acoustic combo bass amp, a Minx for practice. Both of these amps are monsters in their own right, and the Bassman pales by comparison. If I still owned the amp and it was stolen, I'd probably buy a Peavey or Ampeg instead. In comparing to an Ampeg BA112, a Peavey Minx, and an Acoustic BC-2 bass combo, the bassman seemed very anemic. It was so weak on stage that I ended up running straight into the p.a. If you really think you're going to buy this one, make sure you try it immediatly in a real life environment, and ensure that you can return it if you don't like it.

The new 2002 Bassman 60. One channel with active or passive switch. Three band equalizer with a mid frequency range adjustment. An enhance button for slap and deeper tone. Mute switch? Limiter switch and clip LEDs. I use the effects loop to plug into a Electro Harmonix Bass Micro Synthesizer. I turn the volume as high as the 3 o'clock position, and never need the limiter. I use the amp combo for practice in my 18 feet by 30 feet living room, and it does a nice job of rattling the walls at 75% volume. I use it at 50% volume for Jazz and funky grooving. Can't wish for more at this price level.

I won't give a small amp a 10 out of principle, but the tone and clarity are up there with the best equipment. If you what distortion, you'll have to get an effect for that. I am very impressed with the range of sub-sonic beef and screaming highs that this amp can achieve. No doubt that this could be used for a electric guitar amp. The equalizer and mid freq. can give you plenty to stand on its own. Plug it into the Electro Harmonix Bass Micro Synthesizer and there is nothing it can't handle. From fat bottom to ear piercing highs. No one should buy an amp combo without a tweeter horn, this is a woofer saving device in itself.

I had the amp for only a few weeks. I can say, though, that it is built as solid as a rock and just as heavy. The grill is almost bullet-proof and the way the speakers are matched to the unit it should last until the next evolution in electronic transmissions.

I'm new to the bass guitar, but have played the Juno II keyboard sythesizer with a Peavey 300 TNT combo for two years. I have a Raven RMB active bass with dual pickups. I would buy this rig again as a replacement.

I think this amp is a 98 or 99. I play country and rock-a-billy. I've been playing guitar and bass for 45 years. This is one of the best damb amps I've ever had. Its never let me down and sounds greaat. I've used it in retirement centers, VFW's (very big halls) and one of the biggest country music clubs south of Ft Worth. Volume, no problem.........but then I play country.........we dont blow peoples ear drums out.......the worst thing about this amp.......its too damn heavy......oh and as far as channel switching, effects loop, etc....dont need any of that crap.....I just plug it in and gooooooooo..............I give it a 10........see ya........oh yes I play an old precision....65 or 66.....

I Love this amp! New Bassman 60 Sounds Great Very Versatile. The guy who said it was distorting at the 12 o'clock position was definitely using it incorrectly. It has a passive/active switch and a limiter button and if you set it wrong it will distort. The amp sounds great from smooth motown to heavy rock

Sound Quality : 9
Fender Jazz Bass sounds great through it. Very Quiet and I play with a combo and it holds up well. With a bigger group you would want to mike it through a PA

Pretty standard small bass amp - limiter, volume, 3 band tone, direct out, etc. Nice looking, appears well built, has "kickback" capability to use as a monitor.

Sound Quality : 4
I purchased the Bassman 60 primarily for use as a practice amp in my studio. I tried it out in the store with several basses and it sounded fine - full, with good low and mid definition. However, this was at low volume out of respect for the other customers. Figured it would sound the same at any reasonable volume.

Once I got it home, I plugged in my passive Fender Jazz bass and turned the volume to 12 o'clock, with a slight tweak of the bass tone and a slight cut of the treble tone. Immediately the sound was fuzzy and overdriven sounding. This remained the case until I had either lowered the volume to avout 9 o'clock or cut the bass to below flat.

Disappointing, needless to say. I took it back, explained what had happened and tried out two others, thinking mine was defective. They all had the same problem.

Reliability : 7
Didn't have it long enough to tell (less than a day). My other Fender gear has been very dependable.

Fender is world renowned for building some of the greatest equipment and having some of the worst customer service. However, I've not delat with them myself.

I've been playing on and off for 25 years. My gig rigs are SWR and Ampeg. I bought the Fender because I thought it would serve it's purpose well as a practice amp. But when you can't turn an amp up past 1/3 on the volume control without obvious distortion, then there is something wrong with the product design or production.

As a contrast, I purchased an Ampeg Rocket B50-R to replace the Fender - it looks cool, sounds great, can be EQ'ed as desired and turned up substantially over 1/2 with out distrotion eing an audible problem.

I cannot recommend the Bassman 60 for this reason. You might try the bassman 25, instead.

The model I own is a '00 or '01. It's very well put together, and can be leaned or played upright. It also has an effects loop, tuner jack, out jack, bass enhancement switch, limiter switch, and 4 band EQ. It produces very nice, clean sounds, and is fairly versatile, but doesn't seem to have the responsive range that matches all basses. It is also solid state.

Sound Quality : 9
I played it in the store with a few different basses including a Fender Jazz with flats, a Peavey with rounds, an Ibanez Soundgear, and my old Univox Stereo Bass. I was very impressed with the tone you could dial in against a nice jazz bass with flatwounds... Very smooth sound, with no distortion. But I wasn't quite as impressed with what it could do for a standard rock bass like the Ibanez or the Peavey. The sound seemed to fart a little bit at volumes of higher than 6 or 7. Overall though, it's a very good amp for my playing, which is old rock and blues on a Rickenbacker 4003 with flats.

Reliability : 10
This amp is built like a sherman tank. It has a metal grating to protect that speaker from the odd stage-raged kick, and is overall very well put together. I just recently purchases it, so I haven't had any problems with it yet.

Customer Support : 9
Haven't had to deal with Fender yet for this amp, but I've been very satisfied with them in the past when I've had questions about guitars and basses.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for about four years now, and have had quite a few basses and amps, including a piece of crap Crate, a very nice, but underpowered, Vox T-25, and this Amp. I definitely like the Bassman 60 over any Amp that I've used personally or in the store (60 watters). I'm always upgrading in power, so if it were lost or stolen, I might buy a more powerful amp, but it would probably be a Fender.

now i know there are a lot of bassmans out there but let me say now i have the brand new combo bassman 60. it was made in '00 or '01. the first thing i noticed is that it's much BIGGER than i expected. let me tell ya, if you've been looking at pictures on the internet of this amp, you need to know that the front is 20" by 20" so it's a good sized mofo. the amp is good for pretty much any kind of tunes you bump to because of the shaping capabilities of the EQ onboard. it's got an effects loop, tuner out, enhancer, active/passive switch, a mute button, and a limiter, which makes it so it doesn't fart at high volumes. i am very satisified with the features. i don't know if this is normal but my distortion is hella weak when i use the effects loop so i don't use it. i haven't played live with it yet because i'm kind of new at bassin' it up. i use it for practicing and it does the job very well. it kicks back and the thing with that is that it sounds much better to you if it's in kicked back mode. it's plenty loud, my guitar veteran friend said i'd be able to easily play the school auditorium of 1,000 seats. the bad part of the features is that it turns off the speaker automatically if you attach a cabinet which really sucks because you can only have one sound source at a time. but in other words the features are very good.

Sound Quality : 10
the sound is freakin great to me anyway, mainly because i was playing through a squier BP-15 amp worth about 50 bucks hehe! i use my crappy squier affinity p-bass with it and a crappy ESP m-50 guitar with it. my distortion box (ibanez SM-7 smash box) makes both bass AND guitar sound ABSOLUTELY GROSS and i do mean that in a very very good way. eekcellent. it can get extremely bassy if you want it to and the highs are very good as well. one of the questions here are "How brutal is the distortion?" well if your pedal is a smash box or a metal zone....... EXTREMELY brutal for bass and guitar, don't forget it's a rager for guitar too.

Reliability : 8
the main reason i got this over an ampeg or something is because of the bad ass looking metal grille over the driver! ah yeah! the SWR working man series was very tempting but they don't kick back. i would gig without a backup unless i'm playing a colesseum or something hehe then i'd probably want to add a cabinet. but it's new so i don't know much about reliability.

Customer Support : No Opinion
hell if i know, i haven't called them yet.

Overall Rating : 10
it is a very good amp. it sounds disgusting with distortion and clean it sounds fat and bumpin, what else could you want from an amp? i have been playing for 8 months. if it were stolen or lost, i would be royally screwed in the butt because i have no money for another amp! i would have to go back to my squier amp so if it were lost or stolen i would cry. the best part is that it sounds good. the worst part is that i can't hook up to a cabinet without sacrificing the bassman's sound. i thought about getting an ampeg, an SWR, all the big names, but the ampeg didn't have the industrial strength look i wanted, and the SWR didn't kick back, so i got the bassman and i am very happy with it. so um, once again, it's a good sized amp and it kicks the bassman 25's ass because it sounds better. in closing, i really like it!

Has two inputs although one of mine hasn't worked since it fell off of my skateboard while I was moving out of my college dorm. It has a three band EQ that I can always make sounds just right:from BOOOYAH to "ohhh" or "OOOO". It has gain and volume knobs. There is a limiter with a monitor light and the limiter keeps it sounding perfect even when the amp is cranked to keep up with a 280 watt PA. I don't really know what the limiter does but I think it works really wellbecause the amp just does not distort at high volume unless you are hitting the strings too hard. It has a line level unbalanced output which provides a signal that sounded great even when we ran it straight into a 4track instead of using a mic. It has a 15" in a ported cabinet with closed back.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a peavy fury bass with passive pickups that I bought for $50 from a guy who worked at the music loft and taught me how to play the Bass. The sound that I get has been compared to that of "The Pixies" if you have heard of Frank Black or them. I also love to play my peavy destiny guitar through this and it has a tone that is more full and deep than any full stack or tube combo i've tried. When I use the rhythm pickup it sounds really good for rock steady or reggae. Did I mention that this amp has a wallop for its 60 watts.

Reliability : 10
no problems that weren't from being dropped. I have owned this amp for five years. I have turned it on almost everyday and I am not the first owner. It was already old when I got it.

Customer Support : 9
This amp has very proven parts and I think are interchangeable with other amps of the same vintage. The knobs on it are just like all of the other fender knobs so you never will have to wait for a part. The average music shop should be adequate for repairs.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing since 1988. I also own a great deal of peavy equipment but this is better. If it were lost or stolen I would Die. I love the sound but its too big for the one handle on the top. I chose this over a 200 watt orange tube amp, This was louder in the store! I wish it had an effects loop an pedal switch. I don't know exactly what year this was made, but if you ever see one of these you must buy it!
