Please keep in mind while reading this that I don't actually own this amp, but I use it every week at my youth group. I don't know what year it was made in. The amp certainly works with the styles I play, as long as you have the right stuff connected. I play whatever you call the type of music played by Hillsong and Planetshakers. All I know about effects loops and inputs and all that is this: It has one input and your average volume, bass, treble and mid controls. Like I said I use this amp at youth group, and it has more than enough power on volume level 4.

Sound Quality : 9
Now here's something you bass players probably never saw coming, or expected to see. Yes, that's right, I don't play bass, I play electric guitar, so this will be interesting for you to know. When I first tried this amp I was doubtful as to whether I could use it because it made my guitar sound like a nylon string acoustic. But that's where the DigiTech RP50 comes in. Once that's plugged in and turned on it sounds awesome! I use it with an Ibanez GRX70 guitar. Without the RP50, however, I wouldn'y try using it at youth because of the acoustic sound that you can hardly hear.

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't really know about this extensively. But from my experience with it, it's pretty reliable. It's collapsed from being unbalanced once, and on it's own power supply cord. But it still works perfectly.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

I've been playing for two and a half years now. I use it with an Ibanez GRX70 guitar and the DigiTech RP50. At home I play the guitar with an Ibanez GTA10 amp, but that's not relevant because that's a guitar amp. If it were stolen or lost, it would really be up to the church to figure out what to do.

I believe I bought the RAD in '91 or '92. It is a 25 watt solid-state practice amp. It is a beautiful sounding amp. I wouldn't sell it, and have never had a problem with it (except for lending it to a friend for a month and getting some cat hair mixed in with the rug covering). It has two inputs and knobs for volume, low, mid, and high. It also has tape inputs, effects loop in/outs and a headphone jack. I think it's just about the perfect practice amp, it's 25 watts are perfect (if you're in an apartment you'll piss of the neighbors at '4'). You could possibly do an acoustic gig in a small cafe, but if the drummer isn't using brushes you'll be drowned out.

Sound Quality : 10
I started using this with an early 90s Carvin 4 string. I played mainly a generic rock style. Over the years I've switched to a lower-end dub sound and bought a couple basses. Now I mainly play with an old Ovation Magnum and the original Carvin. I can say this bass sounds good with everything. The low, low end with the Ovation makes me smile. Granted this is a 25 watt amp, though if you were recording it would sound great. I really haven't cranked it up above 7 or possibly eight, but I've never heard distortion.

Reliability : 10
I have never had a problem with this amp. It did once drop off a three foot bass cabinet while I was playing it but it didn't even cut out.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never used it - no idea, so I gave it a no opinion.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing about 15 years. If it were stolen I would immediately look for the exact practice amp (the RAD bass preferably not a 25, though I guess they're mainly the same). I bought this new, I think for $200 in '91 or '92. It has easily been my best musical purchase ever. Warm tone, it sounds tube. It's very tough and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a practice amp. If your looking for an amp to play shows with look elsewhere.

I'm using an upgraded Squier Jazz bass with SD's
Any style bass amp.
No noise, no distortion.
The sound is absolutely amazing, this is the best solid state bass amp Fender ever made. Not all BXR (R.A.D.) amps are great but this one is an exception. Great studio amp too.
Awesome warm compressed bass sound.
