The Direct with the level control being right on the front was very handy,I've used this amp for everthing from country to metal, Primarily blues and classic rock. It was very simple to dial in an amazing tone

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Warwick Corvette $$ with active electronics and a Fender Geddy Lee jazz bass and this amp truly represents the individual personalitys of these basses. I set the tone I like and don't have to tweak it when i switch basses mid-show. the low tends to get lost a little in some rooms but i used it outside a motorcycle dealership outside, unmiked and on three and it shook merch off the shelves inside the shop, with the additioin of a little growl it cut through any mix

Reliability : 3
This is where the fairy tale ends, I've owned this amp 7 months used it at low volume to practice at home. It's been used for 4 gigs never pushed past 4 on the volume, the FIRST time i used it for a gig after about 15 min I noticed a horrible burt electric smell, this continued every time i used it for more than 15 min at any vol past 1. The last show I used it I had half the power it normally had and my sound was very distorted, I returned it to Guitar Center to be repaired and they sent it out to a tech. That was two weeks ago, still no word. so we'll see if it works when i get it back. I traded an Ampeg SVT 350 in when I bought this amp and i kinda regret it

Customer Support : 7
I did call the service guys with a question before the head went down and they were very helpful and curtious

Been playing for 13 years, and I own a Ampeg B15 Combo(good thing).I LOVED the sound, power and punch of this amp. I've owned several different rigs over the years from peavey to Ampeg and this by far is the best sounding and so far unreliable amp i"ve owned

The amp I owned was made in 2008. This was the standard GK preamp section with 4 bands of eq; contour & presence controls; effects loop, headphone jack, boost control, output controls for their GK bi-amp system. The bass and low mid frequencies seem well designed, but don't quite hit the mark. They're awkwardly voiced, where the bass control fills up the bottom with too much boom and the low mid seems to miss the sweet spot for punch. The contour control does the mid-scoop thing and the presence control adds sparkle. The boost control adds a bit of grind and midrange punch. Overall, the controls are reasonably flexible, though not highly effective in their voicing.

Sound Quality : 5
I've used this amp as the backline for a rock band in medium sized venues, as well as with a jazz band in a supper club setting. I use MM Stingray, Fender Jazz and P basses. I was able to get good bass tone out of this amp in all of these settings through a variety of high quality cabs. And it is plenty loud. However, the amp made a very pronounced hissing noise immediately on power up. The hissing noise never changed, it never became louder or quieter no matter what configuration ANY of the knobs and switches were in. In a loud band, you can't hear the noise once the tune kicks in, but the only way to make the hiss stop is to shut the amp off. Because of this, I give the amp a pretty low rating.

Reliability : No Opinion
It never broke in the one month I owned it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the manufacturer.

I used it for a month and took it back to the store where they gave me my money back. When I told them it wasn't suitable for me because it was too noisy, the sales guy said, "ya that's GK. They're noisy. THe idea is to turn them up loud enough so you don't hear the hiss."

Given the amount of noise this amp makes, I consider it to be a consumer product, and not a professional one. For a consumer type of product, I think it's over priced. It should retail for a much lower price given the amount of noise the product makes.
