Iam using a mexican fender p-bass with seymour duncan PU
and badassII bridge.
This amp sound very very good! I think it sounds even better as an AMPEG... its ridiculous!
I have ordered an extension cab (blx 215) because i need some more power on the low end... for playing live in a small venue.
That's the only con in my opinion, when playing very loud the low end starts to FLAP. So with a extension cab this problem will be solved.
Also the 10" speakers are not very strong,.. 100w each, so maybe i will replace the speakers with some quality 200w each.
But it sounds very good in normal volume without extension cab.

The Backline 210 has lots of sound shaping tools, 4 band EQ, overdrive channel with gain control, contour; send and receive for effects, . its also has a footswitch option for silent tuning (i do not have this yet). there is a +/- 10db input switch for active or passive basses. This has essentially the GK 400RB IV head plus the overdrive channel from the GK 2001RB. External speaker capable. the only thing i would add would be a cd/line in input so that you could play along to an ipod or whatever. I jam with this amp, and it has plenty of power. 200 Watts and 300 with ext. speaker. This also has a tilt back, but i dont use it, because to my understanding, you lose some dB in the low frequencies when you do this. Fold out handles on the sides, and a pop up handle on top. I feel pretty good walking around with it, but it is a little heavy for its size.

This is a very quiet amp for me, it has hardly any feedback. Despite other review's warnings, i have never heard the fan running. For some reason when i rest my bass (Jay Turser 402, 2 jazz pups, passive) agaist it, i get some light feedback, but since i usually dont play sitting on it, its all good. Unlike my practice amp (Ashdown perfect Ten), i get no feedback from TV, Microwave, etc.
There is very little distortion at high volumes. On some EQ settings, it gets a little honky, but cutting the high mids takes care of it. The overdrive channel has adjustable gain so there are no complaints there. It ranges from very very fuzzy down to a hardly noticeable distortion heard only in the sustain of mids and highs.

This amp is great, there aren't any sounds that seem out of reach, even with an entry level bass. My Jay Turser sounds great in it, and i have also played a Spector fretless through it, and it sounds magnificent, it really accentuated the warmth of the fretlessness. I would buy this again for a good price, and add another cabinet, 1x12 or 1x15. I got really lucky with the price, craigslist found one lightly used for a year in pristine shape, and i almost cut the price in half from a new one! The guy gave me a digitech synth wah pedal for $25, which was a steal too! The only thing i would add is a cd input, but that isnt a big deal since my practice amp has one. You can still plug in the ipod into the intrument input if you want it for a stereo too, but im not sure if its good for it or not, (i thought they were different amperage levels, i was suprised it worked).
Good Amp.

The amplifier is a new 2006 model. It is very versatile for the type of music I play from Blues to Classic Rock to Metal. I play both bass and guitar and I chose this amp because of the overdrive channel. My Les Paul sounds awesome through it. There is A/B channel switching (you have to buy your own switcher), effects loop, and tuner output. There is no headphone jack. I would like to have seen a built in 5 channel EQ, but ah, such is life. I use this amp for practice and hope to play out with it as well. At 300 Watts, it should have adequate power. The amp is solid state as I am unsure of my abilities to care for a tube amp.

I use a Warwick Corvette Standard with Jazz pickups. I also use a Les Paul Studio with a Seymore Duncan JB pickup in the bridge position. For the effects loop I use a Boss ME 50, and leave the distortion off. I use the onboard overdrive channel for my distortion, it seems to come very close to the distortion I hear in my head. The distortion itself is very mellow and creamy, not harsh like my effects box.

I've been playing guitar and bass for many years. I've been running everything through a PA system because I couldn't find an amp versatile enough until I found this one. This seems to be the only one that fits my criteria of being able to take a guitar as well as the bass and have built in overdrive. If I didn't know better, I'd swear that this is a guitar amp that can accept bass into it, which is what I really was looking for.

Bought 5/23/06. Features are perfect for me. I like the tilt back but the important issue is the ability to sculpt the tone. The eq and contour allows this.
I actually picked it up because I was lacking on volume for a festival I played last week going direct and relying on the wedge. It was weak. Today I played a festival using the BK 210 and the sound man who I respect above all others (long impressive history including Aerosmith) gave it two thumbs up plus. Plenty of stage volume. I even rolled the guitar volume back some and he said it sounded fantastic front of house.
Should be more than enough for small club as well. I will probably at some point buy a cabinet just to keep the sound warm and full but for now I have no complaints only compliments.

I play a mexi Fender jazz bass and also have a passive Washburn. Both suite my needs.
I play funk, country, standards, rock etc...
The beauty is no noise. The real shiner though is the warmth. Very, very warm. It punches just fine but it's so warm that I find myself dialing away from the treble settings.
It has a distortion channel which is a new discovery for me. I'm old school. Played with it and it's kind of fun.

Again, too early to tell but I think a year on the speaker and two on the electronics is fair.
One last thing, I was able to negotiate $50 off the store price which made my wife happy!!

Been playing 40 years. Mostly guitar. Bass has been a recent interest of mine although I've played on and off for years. For some reason I've gravitated to it and really enjoy it more and more. Also play pedal steel, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, dobro, piano, keys. I'm a gear nut and music addict.
A friend asked me to check the GK out after I had looked at Fenders and Hartkes and reluctanly I plugged into this amp and found myself unable to walk away. That rich warm tone I mentioned before is so inspiring that I find myself taking every opportunity to play it.
Like I mentioned before it may be a little early review certain aspects of the amp but first blush is way more positive that I expected.
10's for now but we'll come back later after the newness wears off and see if any adjustments need to be made. BTW, I don't give 10's away. They have to be earned.

THE AMP SOUNDS GREAT!!! It's a 2005 model. I play Hard-Rock, Blues, and Funk without any problems. It has two channels, shape control; active EQ, FX loop, foot switch jack, a tuner jack, and balanced direct output, for patching into a mixer for recording or live aplications... What more could you need??? The AMP has plenty of power for my home recording studio. I plan on adding an optional 1x15" cab in the future for giging...

I play a couple of different basses. I use a Thunder Bird, or Ibanez mostly. I get great tones from the AMP. The distortion is brutal when using the overdrive channel. You have to play with the settings but the sounds are in there, believe me...

So far, I have had no trouble with this AMP. I would have not problem using for gigs with out a back up.
*** The only "CON" I have found with the AMP is the cooling fan on the top, it can be a bit noisy "reving up and down", but never heard while playing...

I have been a Drummer for 16 yrs. I have only recently picked up the Bass, "going on two yrs". I would definetly replace this AMP with another just like it. I own a studio full of various equipment. It just keeps growing like a monster... I choose this AMP only after careful and extensive Internet research. For the money it is hard to beat...

2005 model, 200W, 300W with an extension cab. 2 Channels, direct XLR out w/ pre- and post-EQ switch. Lots of knobs, footswitchable, etc. I play in a modern worship church setting, with a few different worship leaders. This means I play everything from hard rock to pop to country to traditional hymns. The amp is great for what I need it for. There's more than enough power for my needs. I could see it not being enough for someone who plays with two loud guitarists (or one really loud guitarist).

I play a Warwick Thumb 5 string straight into the amp; no effects or pedals or anything. I don't have to touch a single knob on the bass or the amp to alter my sound to fit the song. I change where I pluck the strings, and change how hard I pluck, and it gets me every sound I need from smooth r&b low end to aggressive almost-distorting rock. Then I can hit the footswitch and get some major distortion for a sound similar to the bass player from Muse.
The amp by itself isn't quite up to the challenge of the loudest levels you can push it to; at louder volumes it's pretty easy to overdrive the speakers. An extension cab may help this limitation, though. I haven't had the opportunity to really test it with an additional cabinet.
I just had the opportunity to do some recording with the amp this past weekend, and I'm totally happy with the results. The direct sound is great: very clean and very GK sounding. The mic'd sound is a little rougher around the edges, and adds a nice dimension when mixed with the direct signal.

I haven't had it too long, so I haven't really had a chance to test the reliability, but it seems really solid, and GK has been around for a while, so I trust that the amp will stand the test of time.
I do have a nitpick about the buttons (channel switching, mute, etc), though. They pop off really easily. The store I bought it from had already lost one (the buttons are really small, and that's why I got it so cheap), and I've nearly lost one two or three times now. If you flick the button and don't leave your finger there to stop it on the way up, it may very well launch itself out of the amp and onto a dark stage.

I've been playing bass for around a year and a half now, but I've been a guitar player for over 12 years. As a guitarist, I currently own a Bogner Shiva head, and have owned Mesa/Boogie, Yamaha and Marshall amps, Gibson, Fender, Taylor, Martin, Schecter and Carvin guitars, and tons and tons of effects, both pedals and rack gear. I'm always searching for "the ultimate tone."
I think this amp is just about the best bang for the buck you can get. It sounds great, is easily portable (at least compared to a couple giant speaker cabs and a heavy head), and is pretty cheap. It fits in the backseat or the trunk of my Accord. With my bass on my back and my amp in my hands I only need one trip to load in all my gear.
For my application in a church (where they don't want us too loud for the old people ;-) it's perfect. It gets a very good sound without having to blow the doors out of the room.
I was also considering an Aguilar combo, which costs around $1500. The Aguilar definitely sounded better, but not for almost 4 times the price.

2005 model. Just started playing after playing guitar for 5 years. Had a Ampeg ba-115 for a few days after guy at the store talked me out of the GK 210. Traded back for the GK. The Backline 210 is more versitle in my opinion. Can drive a cab with 300 watts and has line out for pa systems.

Have owned Marshall, Crate and Peavey guitar amps. This amp is a bass amp but seems better built than all. If it were stolen I would buy the same model again. I love the sound out of this amp and it seems to be built very well. Try it out and if you like it, buy it.
