Hartke 1415 combo, maybe made in 92-93.
I play country and alternative, for 3 years now.
I borrowed it from a buddy, and gigged all over with it, so then I bought it. Killer tone, it'll dominate any club, almost any size, you just gotta have a DI.
8 for not having a direct out.

SOund quality is great, from 1 to 9.
Volume doesn't matter, tone won't distort.
I've played an acoustic through this amp on many occasions, as well as a musicman guitar through a pod. It rocks.

I'd take this amp to argentina if I had to.

I love this amp. With my Yamaha BB1000S, it is the best sounding rig I've ever heard.
The only thing better is SWR.

I don't know when this amp was made, but I know it's been discontinued relatively recently. It's a solid-state, 140-watt combo amp with a particle-board-ish wood cabinet, nice oversized plastic corner pieces, a 15" aluminum speaker, and built-in inset plastic handles on the sides. No top handle, but I find that with the side handles, I can't tell it weighs 60lbs unless I have to hold it for more than a few minutes. It's a great size to wheel around on a luggage dolly, though. Makes a nice seat, too. It has a 4-band EQ, effects send and return, single input (I haven't tried using an active bass on it, although I assume it's made to handle active and passive both). It also has a headphone jack, which I am rather wary of, as there is not much, if any (I haven't dared to find out) of a safety limit on how much signal it will put out. I also like the "contour" button a lot: gives it a much warmer sound. It's not magical, and probably isn't a perfect simulation of a tube amp, but it's a nice and easy option nonetheless. It also has a built-in compressor, which I also use often. Also has a bass port in the back. For a simple powerful practice/band practice and small gig amp, I'd say the features are quite ample. I have to dock it one point for not having a line-out for an extension cab, a 140-watt amp running at 4 ohms could use an extension cab, I think.

I have only played an '84 Ibanez musician (P-J setup, neck-through), and an Ibanez GSR200 (P-J, Bolt-on) through it, and I'd say it gives a nice range between really picture-rattling low-end and clear, bright highs. I'm really impressed with the clear, bright sound of this amp. Sometimes I find that with a flat EQ the highs can really stand out; good or bad, depending on your tastes, but that's what the EQ is for. I play blues-rock, blues, and jazz through this thing, and I love its sound for what I've been doing. Sometimes I have to cut out some of the high-end to keep it from sounding too guitar-like, but it easily does that. It's just worth mentioning that this thing has a really clear sound. Not much noise at all, not that I can tell. As far as I've tried, it can go from a really really really brutal low sound to sparkly highs with just a few minor EQ adjustments. I've never really played this amp above volume 5 for more than a minute at a time, and that was in a small room with a drumset five feet away from me. This thing is powerful loud. It flaps my pants as volume 5 and probably distorts around 8 or 9. I haven't tried, though.

I've onlu had this amp for about a month now, but in my luggage-dolly adventures, it's been bumped around a fair share without any damage. A note, though: I got the amp used from a guy whose cat had gone to town on two patches of the shag covering, and although it's only fluffy in those areas, at the edges of where the covering is glued, the covering is peeling of of the wood. It's still holding together, though, and it's probably just a matter of a little wood glue and time, that's all. Still worth mentioning, though: keep this thing away from cats. Not Hartke's fault, though.

Haven't had to deal with Hartke yet. However, their website is quite nice, in that you can still access the information, support, and manuals for discontinued items such as this, just by clicking on a small unobtrusive link. A nice touch, but I haven't dealt with them personally,so I'll abstain from a rating for now.

I picked up electric bass about four months ago, and this is my first amp. I wanted to get something to practice with that I could use later for gigs and band practice, and this has not let me down yet. I am currently using a borrowed 1984 Ibanex Musican MC-888 "Bean Bass", a 2001 Ibanez GSR200, and I am getting a used Fender Jazz (mexi) from a friend very soon. If this amp were lost or stolen, I would very mucbh miss it, and would not only want to replace it, but would be very hard pressed to find such a deal again. I got it off of a very nice guy in Brooklyn who no longer needed a bass amp, and put this up in a classified ad. Thanks, Ben.
It may not be the most mature impulse, but I absolutely love the fact that this amp has a shiny cone. I have heard that aluminum cones give a very crisp sound, and this certainly has that, but I also just love the appearance of the ridged circles just smiling out at me. A very cool-looking amp, that doubles as a seat/end table. Very convenient. If I could change one thing about it, I'd give it an additional line out--the one thing I think it really could use and doesn't have. All in all, an absolute steal at under $100, and a great value even at higher prices. I'd have been willing to pay a lot more for this amp. It's definitely worth it to me.

This Hartke 1415 as stated earlier, is 140 watts. It is what it is---a practice/small club amp. Period. I've had mine now for over a year, and it's the best practice combo I've played. It does have only one input, no XLR direct-out, and it only has a 4-band eq on it. But, if you need anything more, you might as well go stack! You can slap a direct-box on this amp, if you absolutly have to, to mic out to the board. But, if I'm playing in a house that I 'have' to mic, I'm running my stack. This amp is for practice, (either solo, or band), and small clubs. That's what it was built for, and that's exactly what you get. I can't ask for more then that.

I play all my bass guitars thru this amp: 5-string Lakland, 5-string Yamaha, 5-string Peavey, to my 4-stringers-a '67 vintage Jazz, and a acoustic bass. All sound very good. I've never had to play this thing over 3, even at group rehearsal. I can't imagine playing it at 5 or 6 like I've read here. Who do they practice with, the Who?

This amp has always done what I've asked of it. Nothing more, nothing less. If I was gigging at a small club, or like a jazz trio supper deal or something, absolutly I'd use this amp with-out hesitation. But, on gigs where the crowd is real loud, boisterous, and you need that extra umph, to get over them, I wouldn't. But, it's not made for that.

I've never had a problem with a Hartke product. And now I own 5 items from them. I do know, from fellow players, that if you don't send in your warrenty card, Hartke can be a little stickler about any repairs. So, just send it in, and you will probably be ok.

I've been playing out for 26 years, 16 years now on the bass, 10 previously on drums. I own a lot of Hartke gear, all of which I'm very happy with. I liked this amp so much, that I just bought another one for my wife. I love the portability with this amp (59 lbs.), ease of operation, and tone's out of this thing. I suppose if I pushed it past it's limit's, (on volume 5-6-7), I wouldn't like it much. But, I can't think of any other single speaker combo-amp I've played in the 100-150 watt range, that if pushed to 3/4 it's capacity, there wasn't any distortion. Especially Trace. I'll keep this one.

Well i had this amp 2nd hand, bought it in 1997 i guest. I like this amp for practicing alone at home. It is nice and simple. I like the whole simple thing but i just wish it has a much bigger power. I do use this amp for practice with my band, we pract in a garage and well it is loud enough but sometimes it ratles. i always keep it at 3, and its loud enought for the whole band to hear my bass lines.

I use a warwick streamer pro-m4 and a warwick stramer stageII 5. Well with the pro-m it is always hard for me to gt a really bassi sound but still it cuts through the guitar and the drums, well since i'm playing punk ska kinda music. I have no prob with my stramer stageII got the sound that i want, but like i said before i just wish this was a mmuch larger powered amp even thought it is good enough and i never get more than 3 cuz above that it'll distort. I don't get much variety of sound but the thing is that the sound of the bass can rally be heard from this amp.

Well i did use it for gigs and well its good enough for a monitor since usually if i use this amp i don't get my bass hooked to the am right away but into this little thing where it goes to the mixer right away. My amp some times crackels but i think t was all because it was kinda old and i don't know how the first owner likes to use the amp like. ohh yeah this amp is good for practicing.. just love this amp..

I like this amp since it was simple and reliable for practice, and some gigs. I don't mind having it again if it were stolen, or might as well try a swr 15combo. I just wish there it has more power that is all.. but still i love this amp...

I play mostly a Carvin 5-string fretless, and it sounds great through this amp. A fretted Fender Precision bass also sounds very good. Very quiet. No distortion (but again, I don't play at a setting of 5 or beyond.) My other bass amp, a Carvin, gets a "9" for sounds,so this amp gets an "8".

I've never had one problem in 6-7 years. I don't take this amp out of the house much, so the greatest threat to it's integrity is the cat. I keep the amp covered so that it does not get used as a scratching post.

I've been playing guitar for over 30 years, and bass for about 7 years. I have a Carvin 1x15 bass amp, and Carvin and Crate guitar amps. This amp was recommended to me at the store when I bought my first bass guitar. At the time I knew only acoustic guitars. I didn't know anything about electric guitars, basses, or amplifiers. I was lucky to be recommended an amp that I'm still happy with. If it was stolen I'd probably buy the Carvin 160 watt 1x15, which is my other bass amp. The Carvin has more EQ features, a noise gate that I don't like or use, and a bit better of a sound, and costs a bit less.

After hearing this amp at home I was very dissapointed. It distorts if you push the volume over 5, and it is still not very loud at that volume. The speaker rattles at an even lower volume.

This is where it really sucks. the input and effect loop knobs are plastic and are soldered directly to a circuit board. This is mickey mouse shit. For the cost of these amps you should get a metal input jack. All three, the input and effect knobs, have broken on my amp. I have not beaten on it, it rarely leaves the house ( not loud enuff)
If you step on your cord that is plugged into the plastic input jack, SNAP its broken.

Amp is 140 Watts through a 15" aluminum speaker. I must say that it looks modern and clean. Only one input and an effects loop as well as a headphone out. Eq - I think of it as a standard three-band parametric with an additional low (very low) bass control. The 140 watts out of this amp is enough to compete with a quiet drummer and fill up a smaller room with sound. Good for a personal sound monitor in larger stage situations. One thing about the input is I feel that it is made for passive instruments as my active bass pick up seems to distort no matter what volume I have selected. Good amp for a passive jazz bass.
Sound Quality
:7
I am playing this amp with a Fender Jazz and a G&L 2000. The jazz bass sounds better through it because of it's smaller input signal. The amp sounds great as long as it is not turned up past halfway. I feel that it sounds killer if it is played at around a 3 or 4 on the dial. Bringing the vol past halfway seems to turn my tone to mud and I loose definition of my sound. Careful with the low-very low tone dial because it can quickly turn your sound to a wall of washy undefined low-frequency mush if used too much. This amp produces a more modern solid-state tone with lots of mids and highs. The low end seems weaker except for the VERY low end which can be made huge with the low eq dial.
Reliability
:7
Very Reliable amp. Solid-state does have some advantages, however, there is a cooling problem that I ran across once with it when I was playing in a club with no air conditioning on a hot summer evening. I was playing with the amp cranked up half way and after the first set the amp started to feedback with no input signal present (ie - unplugged). I suspect that the amp was oscillating because it was too hot. There are only passive cooling fins on the back of the amp and those are buried deep into the cabinet back with little air circulation, so I feel that the amp may have heat problems if played at loud volumes for long periods of time. Once the amp cooled off everything was fine again.

I have been playing bass for 10 years or so and I also own an Eden WT-800. The limited headroom of the Hartke amp convinced me to get something with more watts. I love the sleek styling and the portability of this amp, but I don't like what it does to the tone of my G&L and the fact that it doesn't sound good at high levels. If it was stolen I would buy another speaker cab for my eden rig. I do wish it had a way to adjust the input signal level like those dials found on most other amps.
