i've owned this hartke 2000 from new i brought it in 1993ish...had it around 15 years.it cost me ??500 and it comes with tube and solid state active and passive inputs and 10 line graphic. its done around 800 gigs and loads of hours of rehearsals and still going strong.its very loud, never had the volume above 3 on the dial! a great amp in my opinion very good sound, awesome power and has never let me down...if i had to fault it,it would be that it has no line-out on it

Sound Quality : 10
i use a hohner and warwick bass through it and a play rock/funk. i gig mainly at pubs and clubs always had good feedback about my sound of which i'm proud of...the amp is very quiet in operation all you hear is the fan when switched on...it has never distorted on me.this amp really is a beast!

Reliability : 10
this amp has never broken down,i've never had it serviced in the 15 years i'v had it and i dont have a back-up...its been a good one

i've been playing bass for 25 years used many amps in that time, none of which come close to this one.if it was to be stolen i would be gutted and would consider getting another one although i would look at other makes to see whats about.when i brought it from new my intention was to buy a trace elliot but this was cheaper and had a more powerful feel to it...again i would of liked it to of had a line out option

Hartke Systems model 2000 Transient Attack bass head, made in Korea, not sure what year, I'm sure it's an older one, looks just like an "HA2000" but doesn't say it, rack mountable, 200 watts, s/n H27F1131, 17 1/4" wide x 13" deep x 3 1/4" tall (2 rack spaces).

Front: passive & active in put jacks, tube & solid state pre-amp knobs (A & B), compression knob (clicks on, then 1-10), 10 band graphic eq w/ in/out button, 2 contour (low pass & high pass) knobs, master volume, power switch w/ red LED indicator light.

Back: Dist. by Samson Tech Corp, 200 watts 8 ohms or 120 watts 4 ohms, removable power cord jack, 5a/250v fuse, fan, HPF switch (off/on) mine is "on" (can someone tell me what this switch is?), effects return & send jacks, 2 8 ohm speaker jacks, vent w/ cooling fins inside the amp.

Single channel, no headphone jack. Seems to work for all styles I play (punk, rock, surf, rockabily, metal, country), it would be nice if it had the lights on the eq pegs like the 3500, I don't use the effects loop because I rarely use effects, I'd like to know what this damn "HPF" switch is on the back! I just wank around in the basement these days but this thing gets loud for a 200 watt bass amp, & I've only got 1 speaker cab hooked up so I guess it's just at 120 watts! I've heard bad things about the new Hartke stuff, but this is obviously an older one. Been thinking about replacing the tube w/ a groove tube just for fun...

I use Fender P's & jazz basses, old Kramer strikers, an Ibanez roadstar & a boogie bodies p, mostly stock pickups but a couple of 'em have active emg's in 'em, nothing fancy like Barts, I mean, it's not a Genz Benz but it kicks out some noise, it seems to get the job done. I had another one of these when I was in a punk rock band & it took alot of abuse. Quiet when on but not in use, no hum/buzz, you can use the pre-amp to blend the tube & solid state together if you want, plus the compressor & eq make this a very versitile sounding amp. A little distortion when it's up past like 5, but you wouldn't need to turn it up that high most times, this thing gets pretty loud pretty quick.

Reliability : 8
I think as long as the tube inside is good this amp will deliver. Like I said, I got this just recently, but I use to have another one when I was playing live & never had a problem being heard above 2 guitarists w/ halfstcks, & I was using a 1x15 cab at the time! Some other reviews say that having a good tube in there is the secret. I would & have gigged with these without a backup. I've read aboutthe newer ones breaking down, but I think they have went downhill lately.

Been playing 20 years, owned tons of stuff, I like getting stuff cheap & trying it out, bought this off a guy for $100, I don't think I'd have searched for one of these but it was too cheap to pass up, I wouldn't be too pissed if it got stolen, other than the fact that people shouldn't be doing that sh*t, I'd probably just buy the next cheap piece of gear that came along, I like the tube/solid state pre-amp (it's all about the blending!) but they could've made it a bit smaller (it's almost twice as deep as my GK 400rb). No, it's not the greatest bass amp out there, but for someone on a budget it's a good find. I think that this is an early version of the HA2000. I like the sound that my old GK head makes a bit more than this, but this thing's no slouch. Get an older one of you can find it, the new ones a crap I hear. People bash Hartke on HC, but I've always like their stuff, & I think that they have mostly dealt w/ their newer stuff, which I hear sucks...
