Features : No Opinion
The cabinet that I got had design changes compared to the website, some positive, some not so much. That being said, this cab really feels pretty solid. Weighing in at just under 125lbs, the 4200 is still easily manageable because of the handles (1 on each side and one big handle on top for rolling) and built in wheels.

The box design and construction feels very sturdy - the website says it uses 3/4" wood - and the metal kickplate on the back is a nice touch. The Speakon connector is another nice option.

One key feature difference (positive) is that the side handles are recessed rather than the spring-loaded veriety pictured on the website. Another noticeable feature difference (negative) is that while there's still a horn control switch for on/off/pad, there's no actual crossover control for the 4 10" drivers. Also, I was told that there were some internal changes... shipping weight was 117 lbs., not 125 lbs.

Amp:
Hartke HA4000

Basses:
Ibanez SR400 4-string
Fender Jazz 4-string
Fender Jazz Fretless 4-string
Warmoth Gecko 5-string
Peavey Cirrus 6-string

Effects:
Digitech BP-8
or
Korg Toneworks AX1B
Boomerang Phrase Sampler
Alesis Nanocompressor

I really like the way the 4200 sounds and it gets a lot of positive comments from anyone who hears it. In combo with the HA4000, I haven't had any trouble dialing in any sound I've been after and any bass I play through it has it's own unique sound.

The aluminum cones seem pretty responsive and with the DBASS control on the HA4000, they really seem to like the lower frequencies of the 5/6-strings. The high-frequency horn adds a super zingy quality to the already bright 10" drivers... I generally leave the horn control switch set to PAD, which reduces the horn output by 3db.

Overall, the 4200 is tight, punchy and bright. The sound of an amp is definitely a subjective matter of taste, but I've continually gotten a lot of positive comments on it.

Reliability : 9
The 4200 seems pretty tough. The front grill is pretty tough. It has screws about every six inches around the edges and is reinforced with 6 pins around the horn in the middle. The recessed handles feel tougher than spring-loaded, and the casters also feel very sturdy. Like the previous reviewer said, this cab is built like a tank.

I will most likely never deal with Hartke again.

I love this rig, but getting it was a nightmare. I ordered it from the local Hartke dealer, and it took me almost 5 months to get it. I got multiple *different* stories from the local Hartke dealer, the disctrict Hartke rep AND a rep at Samson (Hartke's parent company) that I dealt with. Not ONCE did their stories match up and I checked in almost weekly.

First I was told I would get it in 5-6 days, then two weeks, then a month, etc. My favorite excuses were that they were switching production to overseas but couldn't decide on a location, they wouldn't be producing any until October (I ordered it at the beginning of June) even though it had been on their website for almost a year, and that my cab was being shipped via boat from "overseas" and would "be here soon."

I find it hard to believe that they would stop production completely for 5 or more months while they decide where they want to move production to.

When I finally got the cab, it had two cracked corners, which took me another month and 1/2 to get after again talking to the local dealer, district rep and Samson rep... The replacement corners weren't even the same but by the time I got them, I didn't say anything because I was just happy to have my rig and be done dealing with them. I got a t-shirt and a set of strings for my trouble, but again... just happy to have the cab.

Overall Rating : 7
My 4200 looks impressive, sounds great and draws a lot of compliments. The cab itself is worth the pricetag. However, it was a bittersweet victory... the headache of dealing with Hartke was NOT worth the price and was enough to bring the "Overall" rating down to a 7.

I just got this cabinet along with a Hartke 3500 Head and boy am I pleased. I got an amazing deal on the head so it aloud me step up and get this cab.

Its a 4x10 cab with Hartkes signiture 10' aluminum speakers and a titanium compression horn tweeter which makes everything nice and crisp. What really sets this cab apart from most others is the tuned, half moon shape ports on both sides which really allow this thing to hit hard.

I use this amp for band practice as well as on stage for mostly medium sized venues.

400 watts RMS
4 ohms
125 pounds
freq. range: 30hz - 15khz

Sound Quality : 10
This cab is amazing. Its very wide frequency range allows it to support the lowest of lows with no problems at all, while still maintaining the crisp highs with the titanium tweeter.

I play a Peavey 5-String Grind Bass (Passive) through a Hartke 3500 head and it reproduces everything with extreme clerity. I play in a rock/emo/post band and I've got to have a lot of chest resonating lows but still have articulet highs so that I can lock in with the bass drum and not fade out in the mix. This cab supports everything I need and more.

Reliability : 10
Its very well built. Put it this way, its a tank. ITs got casters on the back so you can just tilt it and roll it away. When it comes to picking it up, 2 people is always better then one but its 125 pounds so its not to bad for one person to carry it short distances. Its very steardy and the grill is very strong so nothing will hit the speakers. Always a good feature if your like me and tend to get a little to into the music on stage. ;)

Never had to mess with them so as far as I'm concernerd there great, but for fairness I won't rate this at all.

Overall Rating : 10
I absolutely love this cab, amps and basses are sure to come and go but unless I get some kind of amazing deal that I can't pass up this cab will be part of rig for a long time to come.

If your looking at getting a Hartke rig and have an extra 50-100 bucks to spend on it, its deffinently worth it. The VX series is ok, the Transporters aren't bad, XL Series is great but if your talking about bang for your buck the Pro series cabs are deffinently worth every penny.

Okay, an update to this product...
It is absolutely fantastic...
The sound is great, and I've used it for EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

Now that Hartke is putting out a Pro Series 1800, I really wanna add that 18" to my system. Not that it needs it, the 4 10" drivers can rattle plenty by themselves!

The 9 in the reliablilty category: for about one week I was getting raspy buzz from the horn, but that's fixed now.

Four 10-inch aluminum drivers, one constant directivity horn with a two-inch voice coil, two huge ports, horn attenuator, 1/4" and SpeakOn ins, two huge wheels, three huge handles, one huge sound (in one huge cabinet)!

Sound Quality : 10
Not much to be said here other than that it brings out the character in everything. Has good highs, and doesn't over-exaggerate anything. It also never jumps when I pump low-Bs through it at high volumes.

Reliability : 10
Again, not much to mention here, the thing is build like a tank, and weighs half as much.

Customer Support : 7
Like I said in the HA3000 review, I haven't gotten the problems others have. My responses never took more than a few days.

Overall Rating : 9
A great cabinet, but remember, it's 125 lbs. That's really heavy. This cabinet beat out all the other cabinets I was comparing it to (which include Gallien-Krueger, Fender, Peavey, SWR).
