Don't know when or where it was made. 7 just means not too many bells and whistles. Basic stuff. Active & passive inputs and 3 band EQ. Review after review keeps talking about what it won't do. Wellll....it's a PRACTICE amp!! It could maybe handle a small room, but it's not meant to compete with 50+ watt heads run thru cabs with 15" speakers. It probably won't even cut through a band. It's meant to let you hear yourself play, and it does that VERY well. To that end it even has a headphone jack.

Sound Quality : 9
I use it with an e-bay special. I've just started learning bass after playing guitar for 20+ years and wanted something with good tone at low volume. This is it. It does have a real good thump and tone compared to other amps of THIS size and power. I don't need to wake the neighbors, or even the kids. What I DO need is to develop my chops in a believable way without driving everyone crazy. Again, this amp is not designed to shake the room, so don't judge it against those that are.

Reliability : No Opinion
Like a rock so far, but not enough time for a true opinion.

Never dealt with them

I'm a veteran guitarist, but a rookie bass player. This amp does everything I need and nothing I don't. I even used it in church for a contemporary service one time. Threw a mic in front of it and away we went. If you want to gig with it, you'll be quickly disappointed. If you're looking for a good sounding practice amp, you'd be hard pressed to do better. Small, easy to handle and easy on the ears. One of the better small bass amps out there.

This amp has little features other than the equalizers

Sound Quality : 8
If you keep the noise 80% or lower you get a nice sound. i use a dean bass and it's pretty loud for a 20 watt amp. no distortion.

This is such a spicy little amp. I don't know the exact manufacturin' year, but I think this one is not vintage-stuff. I'm playin' almost every styles and I wouldn't say that Hartke B20 is the best amp for any style. When playin' black metal, it doesn't fit very well with the tight metal stuff, but when playin' blues it sounds much better. I'd say that this is blues the amp or nothing.....This model has two effect loops and a headphone as well. I'd wish that my Hartke had a Gain-feature, 'cos I prefer to play with distortion. Also the flanger would be nice....... I always use all the various features which my amp has, there isn't many features after all. Our legendary band called Pirtusuo uses this amp always. It has served us for over three years and it has never produced any disappointments to us. On the other hand, it doens't have enough power for me....For Pirtusuo, it goes well but in my absurd solo outfit, it's too goddamn small. But still I rumble with my truly Hartke and I'll always be playin' with it.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm currently throwin'the set with a fearsome Washburn RB 4000 bass and I'd say that Hartke-Washburn combination is quite fiery. As I mentioned above, this one suites for Pirtusuo perfectly. And as well, this amp is not one of the noisiest amps I've rumbled in my life. You cannot produce much different sounds with this amp, but I can variate my set with my modded bass. I'm disappointed because this amp doesn't include a distortion. The only thing, which I doesn't like in my Hartke's sound, is that I once plugged my friend's Indonesian Cort electric guitar in, and it partly ruined the element. But still I like the sound. It really makes me rock!

Reliability : 8
I can always trust in my Hartke. It works perfectly.....And I always use this one withouth a goddamn backup on a gig. It hasn't ever broken down and it'll always work (I s'ppose).

Customer Support : 7
Hmmmhh.....I don't know 'cos I've never tried to get my amp repaired. There's no need to do anythin' like that. But I think it's almost impossible to get a proper help if I needed it.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playin' since I realized the message of the antisanity. As I said above, my Hartke suites very well with my Washburn, but I also have Jack Bruce's shit-brown EB-3 bass. It's quite icy with Hartke compared to Washburn. I also have SWR 160 watter tube-head and modded Sovtek one hundred watter head. They are loud but so goddamn icy compared to Hartke B20. I prefer this and after all this is such a spicy and ferocious amplifier......Professionally manufactured by Hartke amplification.

Compact, light (both in weight as in power)amp, and that was my main reason to try it. Two inputs, one for active and one for passive elements. Inputs can't be used at the same time (passive overrules the active one). Line out (post tone and volume controls, I'm afraid), headphones out and an effect send-return pair at the back. Three band eq. A very complete product for it's size and prize.

Sound Quality : 8
We needed a small amp for our bass player. He is the kind that always goes to the limits of the amp he uses. Imagine him on a 2x200Watts PA with 15 inch cabinets...to accompany a choir of schoolchildren in a small auditorium. He has no strong opinions on how the bass should sound, as long it is heard. So, soundwise we (the other members of the band) could pick any amp we could find, as long as it wasn't able to get very loud. And the B20 disappointed us ;-), because ... man, that guy is still able to blow us out of the room! We should have picked the Peavey microbass I guess, but that one has less features at almost the same cost.
Powerful tone control with it's equalizer.

Reliability : No Opinion
We have just used it during a few rehearsels, so there is no telling. It feels and looks very sturdy.

Not need (yet?)

Overall Rating : 9
Nice little thing, good eq, much more soundpressure that we expected. Hartke gave it some preset 'Shape'-circuitry (can be tweaked on some of their bigger models, not on this one), which is a kind of extra tone control. I wish you could switch off, because for other uses, like CD or keyboard amplification you couyld do without it. I know, it's a bass amplifier, so I can't and won't hold that against it.

Mostly regular crap; eq, passive/active input, line out, headphone ,and fx loop

Sound Quality : 9
mine was fucked up so ihad to send it back, i'm still waiting on it. it sonded good when i first got it, but then i'd turn it up and it'd sound like a distorted synth bass. it had deep sound for a practice amp, but if you want more bang your gonna have to shell out the extra for at least a 100-watter. all in all, good practice amp

Reliability : 3
nope, my particular amp was unreliable. i dont know if it was fucked from the start, or if my brother blew the speaker, but it only lasted a few months

Customer Support : 7
don't know yet, but sam ash was helpful sending the shit back

after reading the other reviews and realizing igot ripped off for 30 bucks. i;m a little pissed. crate's a better amp ;sam ash-hole can suck my balls, i would'nt buy it again. galien krueger's the best, if you can afford the shit.

Single channel, solid state, 20 watt practice amp.
made in 2000
has a headphone out jack, as well as a line out, and an effects loop(both of witch i was suprised to see on a 20 watt amp,
2 inputs(one for passive instruments, and a -10db input for active instruments)3 band EQ (high, mid, low) and an master volume

Sound Quality : 7
good sound for a 20 watt amp through an 8 inch speaker. cranked(at "10") the sound quality goes down a bit, but still isnt bad, but my peavey combo 115 does the same thing, its cause its a solid state amp). you can get some decent tones from this little guy.

Reliability : No Opinion
ive only had it a few days, but it seems well built. and i dont plan on taking it many places, so its not really much of a problem.

Customer Support : No Opinion
havent dealt with them

Overall Rating : 8
Its a good practice amp, you may be able to do some studio work if you wanted to. id keep the volume know under 7 as the sound quality starts getting kinda bad, if you need to crank get a bigger amp. has a little trouble with the B string of my 5 string at higher volumes, but its an 8 inch speaker, so im not expecting it to be that the B low end at high volumes would sound all that great. id probably get another one if something were to happen. basicly most bang for the buck, its cheaper then most practice amps and has more power with a better name when it comes bass equipment.

Made in 2000, two channels, effects loop, headphone jack, bass mid & treble controls, solid state

Playing Fender Precision Bass. Bought this for a practice amp. I like the deep Motown/Reggae sound. This amp is totally inadequate, even for a practice amp in a small room, distorts when the bass is turned up even at very low volume. Unless you like treble only, buy the B30 for a practice amp.

Reliability : No Opinion
Very ruggedly made for a practice amp.

3 year warranty.

Have been playing for 27 years. Own Traynor bass amp, Fender guitar amp, Fender P-Bass, Gibson Les Paul, two Taylor acoustic guitars.
I would not buy this amp again due to inability to produce bass tones.

This is the entry level model to the Hartke line, and as such is not brimming with features. However, for an amp that only costs 120 dollars what else can you ask for. Volume, three band EQ, headphone jack and two inputs as well as a line out and an effects loop.

Sound Quality : 8
I would like to say that eight inch speakers are not suited for anyone who slaps, and this amp is no exception. Just not enough low end to handle the thump. If you play finger style or with a pick it's ideal. As far as practice amps go this one has a very tight sound and is very full and articulated for an amp in this price range. The EQ controls offer a good amount of boost/cut and even have center detents.

Reliability : 7
Not able to give this particular amp an objective grade. This is a grade for Hartke products in general, and this one appears to be the same.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them

Overall it's a great amp for what it is, and thats a practice amp relagated to the house.
