Features : 8
Bought this amp new in 2002 versatile enough to cover rock to country.

Sound Quality : 8
I use it with Fender P bass with inactive pickups and have never had to push it beyond 5 and it gives a good clean undistorted sound Has plenty of power

Reliability : 10
I have used this amp continuously since new and have never had a problem with it.Would consider it "bulletproof",I have considered buying a backup as this amp is getting old but would buy the same model if I could find one.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Lucky for me I have never had to find out

Overall Rating : 9
I love the simple setup just plug it in and go.I would buy it again and have no regrets about buying this one

4 band eq, 'shape' notch filter with intensity control, two effect loops and two balanced outs.
200 W at 8 ohms, 300 W at 4 ohms.

Sound Quality : 8
It gives the typical Hartke sound, a modern and crispy clear tone. No noise below 5 khz (my cab has no tweeter so I can't comment in HF noise). The Shape control allows for a huge tonal variety with only a single knob.

The only downside is that the preamp clips easily with volumes past 6, but this is more of a power issue.

Reliability : 10
Now it is 6 years, bought it second hand 6 months ago and it is still perfect.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I luckily don't know anithing about this.

Overall Rating : 8
A very good value, it's perfect if you are looking for a easy to use, mid-powered and modern sounding head.

I'm not positive on all the features so you'll have to read other reviews. It looks pretty good from how I've played it.

Sound Quality : 10
I've played a crappy old washburn and a Fender American Jazz bass on this and I've heard someone play a five string Epiphone on it. This bass head is what the jazz band uses in my school. We have a percussion ensemble and the director of the band is a bassist and likes good bass presence. In a real stage in a real auditorium (our school has a nice building connected to the football field) I played this head with its matching cab. He turned it to 8 and on one song was playing with like 10 mic'ed marimba/vibe instruments, two guitars using Marshalls and 3 drumsets (It was a neat number.. its cool to watch 3 kit players play the same thing at once) and it was able to be heard over everything. Plus... it sounded good.. at 8 or 9. I was really impressed with the head and I'm interested in purchasing it now.

Reliability : 10
The school hasnt ever had problems with it.

This head is really nice and does well. I'm getting it for my Ampeg 4x10 I think.

Hartke HA3000 head. Unknown year, maybe late 90's?? Bought used from Ebay. Its the little brother to the slightly more feature-laden HA4000. Solid state, 300 watts at 4 ohms, 200 watts at 8 ohms. Designed to be rack-mounted, but not totally necessary. Has rubber feet on the bottom and a carry handle so you can get away with not putting it in a rack case. Just dont go tossing it around.

A really straightfoward head. When it comes to tweaking your tone...If you like to sorta 'set it and forget it' instead of playing with a dozen knobs...then you will like this head's no-nonsense approach. Dual inputs, low gain and high gain. Knobs are from left to right: Volume, Shape, Intensity, Low, Low-Mid, High-Mid, High. Effects loop send/return jacks on the back, both pre and post EQ.

Sound Quality : 7
I use a Yamaha BB405 5 string, and a Peavey Fury from the 80's that is basically a P-bass copy. Both passive. My cabinet is a Tech 21 4x10 which is a very tight, punchy cab. Only effects I use is a Tech 21 Bass Driver DI. Its an 8 ohm cabinet so I am getting 200 watts out of it, and its plenty loud for my rehearsals/bar gigs. But its nice to know I could add another cabinet and get the full 300 watts in case I need the extra balls. I play in a cover band doing 90's and modern rock, but ill jam on stuff ranging from thrash metal to blues/funk. This head will adapt well to fit most any style. The EQ and shape features are very responsive as far as tone shaping. Not a noisy amp, but maybe a little hissy if you really crank the treble.

Reliability : 8
Only time will tell. So far, its been great.

Never dealt with Hartke...besides, I work for an amps/effects company so it would be cheaper and easier to get it fixed myself if anything were to go wrong. (knock on wood)

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing bass/some acoustic guitar for around 4-5 years now. I was new to Hartke gear when I bought this head. I didnt really know what to expect, just sorta took a leap of faith and bought it. But I lucked out, a real good head for the money. If it were stolen/lost(who 'loses' their amp?) I would most likely look for another Hartke head of some sort to replace it.

I was using a Crate combo with a peavey extension cab before this setup, and this amp really blows my old rig out of the water.

The bottom line...this is a quality head, with good tonal versatility for the gigging musician, that wont break the bank.

An update to my first review (posted about 8/9 months ago):

This amp is still great, I've got it in a rack case now and it's the best thing (ampwise) since sliced bread...

Seriously, a really great amp, and it's obviously build to last, I only wish they made a bi-amp version of this amp that I could pair with my 4200 pro and an 1800 pro that I'm lookin at!

This is a 300watts (4 ohm)one channel solid state basshead. It has the basic volume, bass, low mid, high mid and treble knobs and bretty good shape control knob with intensity knob. I like simple set-ups and this amp gives good sound just by using the shape control. I wish it had a built-in compressor. I play in a rock band and 180watts (8 ohm ) into my Marshall 4x10" from this head is enough for club gigs and also in little bigger halls. But sometimes in our training place the sound kind of disappears but I believe that is because of the acoustics of that place. I also like playing jazz and bluess kind of music. Still i wish it had little more bottom end. It has good connections back side (line out, two effekt loops, preamp out(xlr)) there is also direct out at front panel. It sounds really good in recording through the preamp out!

Sound Quality : 8
It gets noisy at higher treble settings but that is mostly because my bass. If it had that better bottom end it would suit my rock-style playing better. Sound is not warm so to get that warm sound I use EBS multi drive- pedal with tube setting. With that the sound is warm. Butt still you can get a lot of different sounds from this amp even by just using the shape control.

Reliability : 10
Yes I can depend on it so far ( I've only had it for 10 months). Haven't had any problems. It is built vely well and I'm sure it will last long.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had any need for service.

. I have been playing for 7 years now. If it got stolen and I did not need more power, I would buy it again. The cool thing is that it is really easy to use and it has a lot of connectins. I play Yamaha passive bass. Before amp I have EBS-multi drive to give a tube like sound. I have behringer modulizer pro in the effect chain of the amp and the cabinet is Marshall 4x10.

This is a brand new amp that I just bought a few weeks ago. It is very versatile and will give the bassist all the tools necessary to play anything (especially when paired with the 4200 cabinet I also bought, see the review). It has a volume (duh), has a special shape control, that can be a bit hard to learn how to control, but it very useful, and also has a four band eq. It has a bunch of extras like line-outs, pre-amp/direct-outs, send/returns...

Sound Quality : 10
I'm going to be playing everything from broadway revue shows to Satriani and Stu Hamm-style rock and stuff like that. It is built for the bass player, and will suit all roles that a bassist would need to fill. It gets a little noisy at high volumes when there is a lot of treble boost, but that's because I need to re-shield my bass.

Reliability : 8
The construction seems, well, not fragile, but not like it will hold up to a fall off of anything. It is meant to be rackmounted, so plan on doing something about that after you buy it.
I will use it without a backup because I can't afford to and I don't think I would need one.

Customer Support : 7
Although I'm sure we've all heard that Hartke has horrible customer support, this has turned out to be just plain not true for my case. My only problem with them is that they take a little time (it's never taken more than a few days for my requests).

Overall Rating : 9
I use this with a Hartke 4200 (see the review) and a Schecter Stiletto Elite-5 (see the review, I think it's the newest one there). This amp is really a true-to-life amp. What you play is what you hear. For example, that high-end buzz showed me just how bad my bass was shielded. On the other hand, it also brings out the characteristics of my bass and the strings. There is nothing else I can imagine I would want on it. When I was getting it, I was comparing it to Peaveys (sounded to dead and toneless), Fender Bassman amps (amazing head, but a lame cabinet).
