The two separate 500W channels are nice, but I have been using it in the 1000W bridged mode through a Hartke HyDrive 810. The versatility is nice to have, though. It lacks a graphic EQ, opting for the three band knob setup...
Personally I don't mind, because these controls are responsive enough for my needs (my last amp, an Ampeg B2R, had the 12 band EQ faders busted off for about 2 years and I never missed them!) but if you're obsessive about minor tweaking this might be a sore spot for you.
There is also a "bright" switch that does exactly what it implies. I don't know exactly what the mechanism is but it brings out a nice, crisp high end.
It also has a built-in limiter, although it's not customizable at all, which is another downside...but it seems to be set right.
On the outputs - the A and B 500W channels have only 1/4" out, and the 1000W bridged channel has only speak-on outs, which I thought strange, but it's not an issue for me.

The sound is clear and unbiased, and seems to give an honest representation of the bass itself, Depending on your pickups, this could be good or bad - I'm playing my Spector with some rather lackluster EMG's and it shows, but a Lakland with the MM pickups sounds amazing. I play for many bands across different genres and it's great for all occasions. My main gig is funk and soul, and this amp brings it!
I had it cranked up to 6 or 7 last night. I was playing with a guitarist with a full cranked Marshall stack and didn't even worry once about having to compete.
There is no perceptible hiss or background noise, and I have yet to get it to distort even at extremely high volumes. Just now I think I gave myself brain damage playing it in my house at 8.

Couldn't say, haven't had it long enough. So far so good, though, and Hartke's proven reliable in the past to me.

Again, couldn't say... haven't needed 'em...but I hear a lot about Hartke's CS being second to none.

A great amp! I looked at the GK 1001RBII, this amp won out based on price and reputation.
I think my main gripe is the whole no-graphic EQ thing, but I can get past that. The limiter being so, well, limited, is another potential sore spot, but again, I probably won't miss it.
Basically, if you're a plug-and-play bassist, just looking for POWER (especially for the price!), this amp will do everything you need.
If you need a little more in the way of dials and buttons to occupy your OCD, then you might want to look elsewhere.

The amp was made in 2008. I play Christian Rock / metal - and it handles very well, with 1000 watts why wouldn't it? It has 2 channels, and you can bridge cabs if you have 4 ohm cabs and 8 ohm cabs. The effects loops is in the rear which I love. The only thing I wish it had is a tuner out jack, so I could keep my tuner plugged in. This amp is a fusion tube / solid state, and is awesome. I never thought I would ever quit playing GK until I tried this baby. I even get that growl I could get out of my GK (do NOT use the limit switch if you want the growl). This amp is awesome if you are like me - I don't like alot of bells and whistles, I want rock, not take half the night setting up my sound. There is no other amp I would ever play but this, and trust me I could play whatever I want, because I pay for my amps. Seriously, I love this amp. I think you will too. OH The balance knob... what a bonus..... you can run 500 watts to each cab OR any percentage therein, you get what I am saying. Trust me on this.

I am using a Dean razor STD with 2 active j pickups and a dean demonator4 w active pickups. This amp is LOUD 1000 watts and since we are rock / metal we are plenty of that. When I am not playing, there is not a peep coming from the amp. quiet like I wish my wife was (LOL) -(I hope she doesn't read this)this thing is crystal clear at very high volumes, Each note is true and rings with clarity.

This thing is awesome. Why would I need a back up? I traded my GK when I got this thing. I used to play a 1001rb. This is a brand new amp, and I don't believe I will be needing service any time soon

I have dealt with Hartke before, and I have other ratings on other equipment. Hartke Cust. service is 2nd to none. Last time I needed help not only did they send the required parts, But I got them 3 days later, and 1 week later I got a phone call from customer service making sure I had recieved the speakers. THEN a couple days later I get another call making sure everything was ok. The warranty is 3 years I think on this amp. I am sure that if anything happens after that they will make good though, they are a GREAT company - that is my experience with them.

I have been playing bass for over 20 years. I own the HARTKE LH1000, HARTKE 4.5 xlseries cab, 215 cab, 115 HYDRIVE cab, 410 HYDRIVE cab, dean demonator4 bass, dean razor std bass
If this amp were stolen I would be mad - but would buy it again.
I love EVERYTHING about it
I compared it mostly to GK because that is what I played up to now.
