This is an update for my previous submission
after the 6 weeks i have it now (2ndhand tho) i'm not as satisfied as i used to be
the EQ is Crap, first the High knob went dead, doesnt react and you can twist it 360 degrees, doesnt stop
now the Low LowMid and HighMid knobs are dead soon too, they are already ratteling...

so i'll give it a 4, i wanted to give it lower but its already 10 years old (from wich only 3 months or less used tho!)

Features : 6
4 band EQ
line out, headphones out, on-off switch (:D)
er.. input ofcourse, and a compressor? dont know what kind of use that compressor has.
enough features to get a nice sound of it, if you ask me.

I dont know what people dont like about this amp.
But i read, for instance, 1 review, that guy uses a fender J-bass, so he wants a warm tone, maybe this isnt the amp for great warm tones, but it can produce a great P-bass tone, if you ask me. (but im maybe not so picky and havnt played bass very long :P)
Pretty versatile too. Took some while to get the perfect sound.
I admit, i only had it a week, i was gonna rate it a ten to get the average up, but probably after a month i realise it's not that SUPER, but it's a practicing amp, and if you ask me, it get's a very nice tone, better then i heard out of some much more expensive amps (combined with squier's that is)

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't see why a modern amp made in asia would break. Unless you abuse it ofcourse. hasn't broken down on me.
I have only had it for a short while but it seems very reliable.

Havn't needed them and I got it second hand.

I like this amp a lot!
It has "only" 25 watts, but i think it is (almost) enough in a band.
This is the amp i only use that home right now, at first i wanted more power, this doesnt shake the house but it's pretty loud.
It has nice higher tones, nice when playing a P-bass (or in my case the P pickup)
I use it with my secondhand ('96?) Aria Pro II Magna Series (5 string).
I didn't really compare it, i got a nice deal wich i couldnt resist, but I couldnt get this nice P-bass sound out of the 100 watt (H&K, cheaper series i think) amp at my school and the 65 watt fender (sidekick) i tested today.
Very nice for metal, but you probably like metal if you buy Ibanez.

(I dont have rattles or anything unlike other reviewers..)

Given the imacculate simplicity and neatness of this amp, I had to check I had not been swindled into buying some form of rodent enclosure.
The usual features to be expected from a practice amp are there - Volume, Compression, EQ, Line Out, Headphones, and strangely enough, a Power switch.
The EQ itself consisting of Bass, Treble, Low Mid, and High Mid knobs provides surpisingly good sound diversity for an amp of this nature.
As for the compression though, you'd be better off duct-taping a pillow to the speaker as it likes to heavily distort sound quality and and it's unique blend of fuzz.
Fairly standard feature affair really, although after rigerous inspection I did notice that the back left corner of the amp was not a perfect right angle but in fact 92 degrees. Just be careful of this in case you are planning to integrate your amp into a newly designed kitchen fitting perchance.

I'm not sure whether it's because I've been playing through this amp in a fibro house much akin to a giant acoustic guitar but this bastard is LOUD. I played in a 5 piece band with this little fella's volume cranked up all the way and although it was no epitome of quality when competing with 2 300 watt Marshal guitar amps, it amazingly held it's own.
When put in comparison with the volume of the Laney DB150 I now use, the 25watt Soundwave is now just an agressive pikey but for anyone starting out on bass or looking to play with friends - this amp delivers surprisingly well.
The actualy sound quality is rather nice too, great mid and low range, although the high conjures images of a Tokyo funboy getting beaten with a grapefruit, creating a sound much akin to to a riced-up doorbell. But the quality of the low to mid range should keep even the most discerning bass players content.

Reliability : 8
I one held off a small republican army of titrats single-handedly with this little box of death. Hit it with a hammer, throw it at your grandma - this fucker isn't breaking anytime soon.

As for the speaker - I blasted this poor this at full volume for over a year with the bass and treble right up, 2 years later I use it to belt stuff out on at home and it's still producing nicely.
Only aesthetic problem I have had is the vinyl cover at the back started to peel off only about 6 months after purchase.

Haven't ever dealt with Ibanez directly although the amp did come with a 3-year warranty from the retailer.

I bought this little black bar-stool in 2000 to learn on and after changing my mind on the bastard many a time, I am now sold on the little fella. A nice neat box of an amp, it does what it's meant to do quite well.
If you want an amp to practice/learn on and maybe even have a relaxed medium-volume jam with your mates, (drums will massacre this amp) then this amp will keep you happy.
A lovely inexpesive amp with surprisingly good sound quality and volume output.

I use a ibanez sr 200 and bought this when I begun playing bass 2 years ago.
I don't understand the other comments, this amp is really very good, very powerfull and gives a warm and rich sound. Sounds perfect to me for the price (and I have played on costly trace eliott and H&K... This little amp is really really good..!)

Reliability : 10
it's a tank, very reliable. Never had a problem with it

very good amp for practicing or learning bass. You can also use it for the clean sound of a guitar. Very reliable and affordable. I would buy it again if it was stolen..!

I've had this amp for about 3 ys. I can't say any good things about this amp, except it sounds ok at volume 1-2. But when I turn the volume past 3 it becomes a scared wuss begging me to turn the volume down.
I play Fender American Jazz bass, and it sounds better unplugged than playing thru this amp. But just for the heck of it, when I do plug it into the amp and play, it makes me want to quit playing bass for the rest of my life.

Reliability : No Opinion
Who cares if it's dependable or not? this amp sounds like shit, I wish it breaks down on me right now.

Oh, come On! Crate sounds like heaven compared to this amp.

Get this amp!
1. If you want to quit playing bass.
(Parents, this amp is a must-buy for your son/daughter if you want them to stop playing bass and study)
2. If you have high end basses like KenSmith, Shadowsky and want to make them sound like a $200 Rogue bass.(Just plug your KenSmith into this baby and you can nail the Rogue bass sound!)

I have an Ibanez Sound Gear SR300DX which is a realy powerfull bass guitar but amp just can't handle it, basicaly I was not very impressed with it, It had Bugger all sound quality if you took it over half volume and, dont ask me why, butt rattled like fu*k, I actualy think their is a fault with mine but now I wont touch it, just use my Polytone, It's much better.

Reliability : 10
It always works but I ain't shure if that's a good thing, I want it to break so I can get rid of it.

Basicaly I was not very impressed with it, It had Bugger all sound quality if you took it over half volume and, dont ask me why, It rattled like fu*k, I actualy think their is a fault with mine but for #99 it aint bad for a biginer but if you are in a band just don't even go there, it just won't handlew the volume in a rehersal let alone a gig.
