This amp was made around 1998. It's versatile enough - it's 100 watts (solid state), I've used it for both bass and accoustic, with the accoustic played through an L.R. Baggs parra acoustic DI. It has a 15" speaker and a smaller horn, so there is plenty of mid and even a little treble if you like. It has two channels - bright & normal - and both compression and eq stages. There's effects line in/out, and a line out if you feel a quad box is necessary. It has enough power for small gigs, but for medium to large it would struggle, I'd say. I never crank it up that high - 200 to 300 people would be the most I've played to with it, and it's adequate for that.

I use a Fender Jazz bass with it mostly - 4 string. It does not have the tonal range to make the most of a good 5 string, but then again I've never used it with a slave speaker, either. Often I use it with my accoustic guitar - an Ibanez Ragtime Special with a Fishman pick-up fitted - purely as a big foldback speaker, and it does this well. The Ibanez goes through the Baggs parra accoustic directly to the mixer, which works brilliantly - tons of tone for a little guitar.
The Jade - it's an amplification workhorse when I don't need anything fancy, just decent loud projection, which it seems to do.
I play gospel, rock (everything from Berry to Gilmour and lots in between), country, anything I can think of.It's not a noisy amp, unless you've got the gain & presence cranked up with an accoustic guitar - which (hopefully)no-one would do.

It's been reliable so far - no problems. I've used it for 4 years with no hassles - but I do look after my gear. It's a heavy beast, though.

Havn't dealt with 'em, hope I never need to. Three year warranty, though.

I've been playing for 27 years. I own the Ibanez Ragtime Special, a Japanese Telecaster copy (which is starting to get really annoying), a Boss ME 30, a Fender Jazz Bass, and an original Peavey Bandit 50 watt guitar amp. I bought the Jade because it was cheap and no frills, and it hasn't let me down so far. I play mainly guitar and only occasionally fill in on bass, so it suits my basic needs. If you're into serious bass amps this probably isn't for you, but it's versatility IS good - I plan to use it for a keyboard amp as well. It's all-round usefullness is it's biggest advantage, so if you're on a budget and need something which can cover a few bases (no pun intended)this may be for you. Otherwise get a Spector and a Fender Bassman 400 - at 10 times the price.
