I got my Johnson 25b amp on ebay about a month ago and IT KICKS A$$! I only paid about $100 total including shipping for it and it has performed like a $300 amp! It has bass, mid, and high tone knobs and a presence knob. It probably isn't powerful enough to gig with, but it sure does work great for my practicing. The girlfriend yells because I crank it up so much. Great sound and only 100 bucks!

I am using my fernandes tremor 4 with it and it really doesn't distort unless I crank the bass and volume all the way up and hit the E string hard. Very nice.

I have only had it a month, so I can't verify any maintenance problems, but I am gonna go ahead and vouch for this one.. I have great hopes for it and the warranty is great!

I haven't called the company, but www.Elevation-Music.com has long hours and I have called them about 10 times now and they have answered my questions every time.

I own a couple basses, mainly fernandes because they rock, and I have a Martin Acoustic, Ovation Acoustic/Electric, and a HiWatt Custom Amp, a BagEnd Amp, and a crappy little dean markley practice amp.

Volume, Bass, Mid, and Treble adjustment, plus a knob labeled "Presence" that doesn't appear to actually do anything when turned. One headphone output jack, no other line outputs. Basic 8 inch speaker that does not appear to even remotely resemble a bass capable speaker. It's certainly not a woofer. It looks like a car speaker from the 70's. Sounds like one too.

Using with an Ibanez GSR-200 with passive pickups. Even the passive pickups are too much to turn the volume much past midway. More than that and the speaker goes into convulsions and sounds like it's going to pop right out of the front. Active pickups would kill the poor thing.

The thing arrived not working at all and I had to take it apart and resolder the speaker wire on. Nice first impression for sure! Gave it the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to a gorilla handed UPS driver. I would have returned it for a new one, but this was an Ebay purchase and the shipping back and forth was just to going to be too much hassle.

Ordered it on Ebay as "New". Apparently there is no such company as Johnson though as they have no website, no owners manual, no contact number, no registration card. There is a company called "Johnson Amplification" but they make high dollar, high quality amps, not these little fart boxes.

If it were stolen, I'd celebrate because I'd have a good excuse to buy something decent. I'll concede that I did buy it for a "practice" amp, and I guess it does fit the need. Useless for anything else however and even for a practice amp, sounds like someone farting in a trash can and is barely loud enough to fill my living room with sound. My bass sounds incredibly better even through my Laney 30 watt acoustic guitar amp, which is now doubling as my practice amp over this Johnson turd. For an acoustic amp with a similar power rating, the Laney runs circles around this thing. Deep booming tone and great resonance. But wait, I'm not reviewing the Laney here!

New!! Johnson Bass Guitar Amp
This brand-new Johnson practice bass amp model JA-025-B has 36 watt peak power, 3-band EQ, 8" speaker, presence control, 1/4" input jack, and headphone jack. This amp features ported cabinets which makes it sound larger than it actually is. Johnson uses a "real" RMS for their amps, which makes them louder than most amps with the same watts. You can gig with this, better be a small gig, though! More power and I would give this amp a 10! Even if this thing's Made in China!!

I am playing a Galveston 5-string throught this amp. I like a good thick sound, so I usually turn all but the bass knob all the way down. Great for a deep bass sound. Great for jazz and blues. Very good for rock.

This thing's been played only at home. I would gig with this, provided that if it's a large gig, I can mike the amp. Never broke down, no need for a backup.

No Opinion
Never broke down. The dealer I bought from is great, though. So, I am not worried. Hell, if it lasts a while and it does break, I easily get my money's worth.

I've been playing for a while now. I love the low b-string through this amp. What do I hate? Bring the bass guitar close and she feedbacks, albeit hummingly. I compared to Crate 15 watter. This one's louder, and cheaper to boot.
