This is a solid state bass amp made by Kustom in the mid 70`s. It is rated at 60 watts rms. As far as I can tell from the markings on the head, it was made in Kansas(US for those of you who failed geography). It is two channel, with each channel having two inputs. Channel one has vol., bass, treble, clarity and a push-pull for bright. Channel two has the same, but with a mid control and no clarity. Has lots of vintage sounding control combos. It only haS one speaker out and a line out. It also has a plug in on the back of it.. Overall it has somewhat fewer controls than today, but my rating is considering that it was made in the 70`s.

I play a Luna pheonix with an active eq, through a danaelectro echo pedal from the 90`s, into this amp. I then run it to a former PA speaker(1 15 with three tweeters). The speaker cabinet is rated at 150 watts rms, with a peak of 300. The head overdrives the cab on 7. It is way underated and I need another cab to unleas this things full power. I play everything from gospel to metal, and this head does fine, just a slight rutuning of settings and its good to go. The only reason why I give it 9 is that between my bass slightly humming(cranked active electronics), and an everpresent(albeit soft) hum in the head, it is a slight inconvience.

This head is built like a tank. It has been gigged and abused and neglected for thirty years, and after it came to me, worked very well after a few shots of electronics cleaner.

No Opinion
This amp`s warranty has expired several times over by now, and I haven`t had to deal with Kustom.(nothing has broken)

I have been playing bass for 2 years now, after a couple years of guitar playing foolishness, and this has been a great head to start a first stack with. It sounds better than most cheaper modern amp heads for 1/5 the price. If I were to lose it, I would try to find the Kustom IV, only because of the extra power with the same sound. It needs a 15, a couple 10`s and a tweeter to get the full range out of this amp, but I still wish it had the matching cab. My two wishes are that it had two speakr outs, and that it had a mid control on the first channel, but I`m pretty sure that the more powerful heads did. Overall an incredibly good head for the money.
