These heads are pretty simple in set up but have everything that a blues/rock/metal bass player needs. It has three band eq but with 2 sound shaping swithes for mids, and 1 switch for high frequencies. These may sound like few options but you will find a diverse array of sounds from these as they actually work. Some amps barely respond to your tweaking with them, but I find these are very rsponsive. Has D.I for patching into desks etc. Onlt has one input jack. This is maybe the only negative for players who want to explore stereo oprions.

I purchased this amp back in '98 and I have a very large grin on my face every time I plug into the thing. Clear, round, punchy tone that cuts right through and mix. A little similar to G.K heads but I find this has more midrange punch and attack. The VP300S may lack a little in the lows for players that use a pick, though I find the VP600HP does not lack in this department.

I have had many enquiries in relation to an old preamp valve dying and I found Labsystems service over the phone and email ecxellent.

I have been playing for 15 years and have experimented with many amp and box combos and I have never been so pleased as with my Labsystems. I play a custom '74 Gibson EB3L with Dimarzio P pickups in it and my sound blows me and everyone else away. Like a hot p bass sound but heavier and richer. My only dislike with this head is that you can not alter the impedance. so if you need to match with different cabs for different gigs, no luck to you. If I did not own this Labsystems head, I would go out today and buy one.
