I bought my Laney BC75 7 or 8 years ago and I've been using it mainly for recording. This amp lacks a compressor, so I prefer using my old Steelphone amp wich as a poorer EQ section but offers a compressor. The amp as separate tone control for hi and low end, while it offers a 6 band EQ for the mids, wich are really carefully calibrated and offer a great control over the tone and harminics of the bass; I rarely record my bass lines by micking the speaker, I usualy use the DI output positioned on the front - there is also a second out jack on the back. The amp provides also a "bright" effets wich is used to enhance very high freqs, and it is supposed to give the tipical bright sound of new strings, but the resulting sound is really unnatural.

The overall sound of this amps is fine, even if it lacks of "attack" - I've tried to plug the bass directly on the mixer, and you can really feel the difference! However, the nice control over the tone you get from the EQ section gives this amp a honorable price/sound ratio.

I've never had any real problem with this combo, except for a little one with the effect loop connection on the rear (unpluggin the effect did't excluded the effect loop signal path, with the result of no sound to the power amp), but with a screw driver and 10 mins the problem was solved!

Never had to call! The amp works fine

I think this is a good amp for non-professional users, and its low price and great tone control makes it a fine-buy

I recently played my Laney BC 75 at a big gig in my home town (Bucharest). I just popped a jack into the DI-output and straight to the FOH- mixer. It sounded just perfect!!!
The nice thing about the BC75 is that you can create very different sounds with it. I mean, if you want a metallic, crisp feel to your sound, or if you just want to have your bass sound warm and punchy, everything is there!!!

I play an Ibanez Soundgear SR305 5-string bass and I use a ZOOM 300b through the effects loop of the BC75.
I can say this setup sounds very good, especially for the kind of music I play: HEAVY METAL!!!
I can crank the amp a bit, but the speaker starts to rattle ):
