My DP150 was made in February 1988,i bought it ine December 06' and whoever owned it for the other 18 years did a great job,
its emaculate, everything works, and all the sliders are intact,
my band changed it sound quite a lot since then and my amp has been perfect for anything we do, we play rock/hard rock/indie/blues and i have not a bad word for my head and cab,
plus it looks great

I use a Boss ODB-3 distortion pedal, and when thats on, its the only distortion i get with my amp,
when on clean it is as quiet as a mouse, i would never get rid of this amp!
I play with a Epiphone Explorer and Gibson Thunderbird Copy,
both with heavy rock humbuckers.

I have been playing weekly gigs with my band (www.myspace.com/dezima) with this amp at every gig, i think we are at 51/52 since january 07' and i never take a back-up, never needed one, and hope i never do need one!
every new bassist that plays with us says its a great amp and where the hell did i get it from!

I bought my DP150 and matching Laney 4X10 cab for ??300
its the best thing i have ever bought, i have played a Gibson through the amp, and you can tell that the amp was made in the 80's,
a classic amp, with classic sound that i would be lost without
if it broke i'd be gutted and have to resort to using Ampeg or Ashdown, that i know would not come to the standard of this amp

This amp has a noise gate which I use, a limiter which I never use, an EQ that I use to boost the low and cut some high freqs. There's a lot more on this amp but I don't use most of it.

I use the amp with a Fender Precision without pick. I mostly play rock / hard rock and sometimes blues. Can't use distortion on this amp because I don't like the sound of it. For recording unscrew the metal speakerprotector because it resonates on some freqs. The only thing I miss is the tube sound, just a little distortion(For gigs I use the DI to make it sound real fat on PA).

This amp was used as rental before I bought it. The original Fane speakers have all been blown. I replaced them with Celestions and never had a problem since.

I have used this amp for about 5 years now. Works just fine for me. I only would trade it for a good tube amp of same size.

The Laney DP150 basscombo originally features a Trace-Elliot-lookalike kind of head and runs trough 4 10" speakers. The metal front on my amp made some noise when playing the amp, but a piece of foam was the solution. It's quite heavy and in my opinion unbreakable. Cool blue colours on an overall black look.

I changed the 4x10" into a double 15" and a Motorola horn (one xtra cabinet featuring the extra 15"). The sound on the 4x10" was a bit thin and not very brilliant. The 15" give better coverage of the natural sound and the horn is additional for the crisp. The equalizer on the amphead makes much more difference than with the 10"s.
Overall it can be said that the amp goes very well with funk and jazzrock. It's a transistor amp, so it comes out very clean and undisturbed.

I own it now for 13 years and I never had any problems with it. When you put EVERYTHING on 10, it might stop at a certain time because of the built in thermo-security, but before that happens your deafened everybody so what's the point?

I plugged a whole range of basses in it,currently using it with a Jaydee and an Axstar bass. The amp was made in the time Trace Elliot was big, and my opinion is, that they've watched them closely. The prices at the time were a lot less than an average Elliot, so it was a very good alternative. and still is

Great amp for all funky styles. Low-med sound with lots of dynamic. 4 X 12'' loudspeakers. One channel. Pre-shape button which reduces mid-range frequencies : cool for slap. 11 band (40/80/120/160/350/700/1k/2k6/5k/10k/15k) eq switchable. noisegate on/off. Limiter on/off. A very usefull balance pot. to adjust sound between direct and with graphic eq on. A DPC attack pot to bring more high frequencies with the attack (slap), linked to a 'deep-bass' switch for the same effect, but in the low frequencies.Effects loop jacks front and rear (line level). Balanced output on XLR. Optional footswitch. Headphones jack. Second speakers jack. Enough power to play in small clubs or rehearsals with noisy drumers

As I said, ideal for modern bass techniques : slap, tap and pop. No too strong for fat sounds like blues, heavy rock... But clean enough for fusion styles, even when playing fretless bass.

Solid state technology : no problems. No overheating, the power supply is strong enough

Bought second hand in Great Britain, I've asked the company to send me all the literature for this amp : they sent me the user's manual and all the schematics and electronic diagrams : cool !

The bass reflex cabinet needs an acoustic treatment : foam. Low buzz noise at rest.
